After his seduction trick on Bonnie, Kai goes hand to hand with Kol, foregoing the use of magic or vampire abilities.
Kai is tormented with the voice of his brother constantly in his head and Rebekah emerges with some news after Bonnie, Kol, Toni, and Damon visit New Orleans
Hi guys! Another update for a chapter I'm reposting because I felt I was getting lost in plot holes or contradictions (apologies for that, I am working it out to the best of my ability) This chapter was hard to bump out because a lot of parts were sort of filler, but I managed to get some of that adrenaline pumping action!
This focuses more on the greater plot, and the mystery surrounding it, why Kai is so fixated on Bonnie and what everyone aims to do about it. Of course he really complicated things between Kol & Bonnie but there will be more Kennett! After they work through this latest complication

Damon's POV
Damon could detect the scent of the collective arousal from imposter Kol and poor, unsuspecting Bonnie from outside, though he was no fool. He wasn't going to be the one to apprise the true Original of how his girl was ready to get busy with the socio man-child. It made no sense to give bad news to someone who'd surely shoot the messenger, additionally, the petty side of him figured Kol deserved that for interference with Toni. Compelling him to stay away from her, what for? To keep her head in the game? That didn't stop them last night.
Where was his level head when it came to Bonnie? Right. He didn't have one. That's why he'd had to stay away for three years. There was no way Damon would have ever let Kol put her through what would have became his imminent death, that sort of thing could have broken her. It was bad enough she almost went dark magic just being separated.
He also noticed Bonnie's slowed heart rate and caught the scent of her blood. Despite Toni telling her not to freak once inside, Witchy did exactly that the instant she saw the face of the man who repeatedly tormented her and her friends. He couldn't blame her, yet he wondered how she couldn't tell the difference between her actual boyfriend and the imposter, though he figured the similarities lay in the fact that they each had impulsive and psychotic tendencies for no particular reason than their own madness. He still didn't know exactly what the hell Bonnie saw in Kol, but there was little time to concern himself with that.
As Bonnie screamed, Kai used Kol's Original speed to administer his blood because she was screaming away. The upside was that it healed the witch, who was moments away from being drained when they'd burst through the door. Kai jerked Bonnie up with him and Damon braced himself when he positioned his hands, ready to snap her neck.
"Damien! Oh, am I glad to see you. Normally I don't like interruptions but I'll let it slide this time since you saved me from myself just now," noticing the way they slowly braced themselves, Kai frowned. "Ah, ah! I can snap her neck in an instant. Anyone moves and you'll soon be meeting my baby vampire," he declared, coolly.
"Kol, why are you doing this?" Bonnie sobbed. Damon's heart dropped, watching hers crumble.
"Look Bonnie, it's the siphon. Quite handsome, don't you think?" Imposter Kol said. "But something's not right, you're supposed to be sleeping until the ritual. You know until we do to you what you did to your own mother,"
"Bonnie love, look at me," the actual Kol said, in the body of Kai.
"No," Bonnie continued sobbing as the gravity of the realization hit her. "It's not true,"
"Oh, but it is, Bonster. Check the ink," he showed her that tattoo that was as of late, an attribute only Kai Parker should have.
Damon heard the heartbeat in Kai's body skip and felt the crackle of magic he was getting ready to use. Don't think about it Kol! An accusatory hand was thrust towards the imposter Kol. "That's Kai,"
"Yes love, look at him," Kai positioned Bonnie's head to look towards his true form. "Look at the face that you could be waking up to for the rest of your life-" Toni do something! Mikaelson's about to flip! His magic is sharp but might not be quick enough. Damon pressed that thought to Toni. "Forever, actually, if I just turn your head slightly-"
That did it! Simultaneously, Toni's enchantment immobilized Kai and Kol issued a motus, which thrust Bonnie, who had pulled her head, from Kai's grip.
Toni's POV
Kai bellowed thunderously as Bonnie was pulled from his arms, but since he was immobilized, there was nothing he could do but take a beating from the Salvatores.
Toni rushed to help Bonnie up and her green eyed friend clung to her, still sobbing.
"That wasn't- he was really? Ew! I didn't know, I'm sorry, I didn't know!"
The thoughts swarming in Bonnie's head gave Toni all the insight she needed, even thought it was evident in her expression. She was ashamed and disgusted with herself, let alone Kai. Such feelings of guilt when it came to Kol weighed heavy in her mind. "I know," Toni cradled her against her chest and noticed Kol, still in the form of a siphon freak, creep over. Toni widened her eyes and shook her head, softly.
He only scoffed at her. I meant it Kol, NOT NOW. Toni pushed her thought into his mind.
To her dismay, he ignored her as usual and came over anyway. Typical Kol. All she could do was wait until this blew up in his face so she could taunt him later.
"Bonnie," Kol said softly, reaching out to stroke her hair. Except it was Kai's voice Bonnie heard and Kai's face she saw when she looked up. She pressed herself against Toni, death gripping her arms.
"Get away from me," she hissed. "I can't..."
"I'm not Kai, darling, it's Kol,"
She's traumatized because of your face, duh genius.
"This is all your fault! How could you let this happen?"
"I had no part in this! Little love, I would never-"
"Get out, Kol. Get out of my sight."
Bonnie's voice was low. Oh boy. That was the calm before the storm.
"I will rectify this, I swear it."
Dude, just get the fuck out before she-
"GET OUT!"
Thanks, Kol.
Toni was certain that each and every glass object in the home was now broken.
Kol finally pressed a thought into Toni's mind. Toni, darling. Kindly shut up or I will drain your pint sized-
She blocked him out of her mind, not hearing the rest of his empty and impulsive threat.
Damon's POV
"NO!" Kai roared as Bonnie was ripped from his arms. He was then rushed by Damon who gave him a fist, an elbow, and a knee to the face before he broke his ribs and arm, all while Stefan held him. When Damon showed zero sign of letting up, Stefan snapped the Original body's neck.
"He's down Damon, that's enough!" He said, pushing his brother backwards. Crazed cerulean eyes glowered as he pushed back. He was so intent on destroying 'Kai', he didn't even hear Bonnie screaming for Kol to get out.
"No!" Damon rushed at imposter Kol's crumpled form again but was thrust away by magic.
"Get away from my body!" True Kol yelled as he used a burst of magic to complete his request.
Damon almost turned on Kol who was literally wearing Kai's face, the object of his hate. He deserved to be destroyed in the worst way. Only, Stefan grabbed his shoulders and looked him in the eye.
"Hey! Bonnie needs you." Then Stefan turned him in her direction. He flashed over to her.
"Hey, Witchy?"
Bonnie looked up from sobbing into Toni's perky breasts, thrust herself into Damon's chest, and continued sobbing.
"Bonbon, I'm so sorry." He enclosed her in his arms. He absolutely hated seeing her in distress and he knew this was yet a whole other level of it.
"Bonnie, we should get you home," Toni said, stroking her hair. The young witch nodded against Damon's chest.
"What about you?" Damon asked.
"I'll stay with her. We'll talk tomorrow."
"No," Bonnie said, choking back a sob. "Don't leave him, Toni. Please. I have a feeling you're the only other person he'll reason with,"
She looked over at Kol standing over his body and nodded resolutely. "Okay. I won't leave him, Bon. Promise."
Damon watched as Toni made her way over to the real Kol, who glanced up to seethe at the sight of his girl in the arms of another.
Meeting his glare, he whispered into Bonnie's ear, "Let's get out of here,"
As Kol, Toni, and Stefan discussed what to do about the Original Vampire body, Damon flashed out of the house with Bonnie.
Not too late my friend
Take it up and try again
I'll stand right here
While you walk to face the end
As the skies clear up again
I'll disappear
And the sun will shine again

Damon and Bonnie's POV
Damon slowed to a human pace when he reached the boardinghouse, opting for that instead in case Kai would somehow breach her home again. When they settled inside, Bonnie went to the pantry in the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of bourbon, and then two glasses. She filled them both each halfway and slammed one back. Damon reached for the other glass but she drank down that one too.
"You taking a page out of my book?" He asked, voicing concern.
"I just need a scalding shower, and to probably be incinerated from the inside out. Then I'll be purified and- and purged, ready to move forward with my life."
"So let's hit the shower then," Damon said. He sighed when his badly timed joke only earned him a scowl. "Bonnie," he tried gently.
"Don't. Don't try and say anything in an attempt to make me feel better Damon, because there isn't anything that can make me feel better. I just told the crazier person I've ever met I loved him and I meant it with all my heart because I thought I was talking to Kol. And we had a moment, it felt like..." she trailed off and her hands trembled as she lifted them to her face. "Ugh! I can't even," she buried her face in her hands. "How am I going to face Kol now knowing that our intimacy is tainted?"
This was exactly what happened with Elena and Stefan because of despicable people like Katherine. It was the catalyst that tore them apart, aside from their disagreements over Damon, but Damon himself attributed that to her being a spoiled brat.
"It doesn't have to be,"
"Why wouldn't it? Kol's not going to want me if I can't even tell the difference between the way he touches me over a literal fucking psychopath,"
"Sociopath is the correct term. But the guys got psychotic down to a science, for sure," he leaned his back against the counter. "Kol would want you in a box, hanging with a fox. Here, there, Kol would want you anywhere. He has for a thousand years, he's waited on you. You know because you're soulmates or whatever. Or because he's just that fucking crazy," Damon pulled her into a gentle embrace. "Either way... when you love someone that long, your entire miserable fucking existence-"
"My existence hasn't even been that long," she murmured against his chest. "And this is the same sort of thing that broke up Stefan and Elena. Everyone knows that was a forever kinda l-"
"Shut up and listen to the pep talk. Anyway, when you've loved someone for so long, it's impossible to let them go. Of course it's easier to drop someone if they ain't shit- don't tell me anything about Katherine- but that isn't the case here. Kol would light the world on fire if he knew it would make you happy. He'd rather kill off the entire male population than let this tear you two apart just to make sure nothing like this happens again. Something about you keeps him from going off the deep end and you know what that is?"
Bonnie looked up at him, a soft inquiry on her face. Her green eyes glistening in the soft light of the fire, lips parted slightly with anticipation. Memories of the kiss they shared in a 1994 prison world plagued Damon's mind and captivated his sense to remember that Bonnie was strictly a friend, the benefits that came with being acquainted with her were far from lusty, they centered around protection in an 'I've always got your back' sort of way, and the utmost consideration by encouraging him to rise to his highest self fathomable since she trusted he cared enough for her to keep that in mind. She trusted him and any move he would make would disrespect her trust. Although he did have a theory that if he put it out there, in a very subtle way, maybe she'd turn up the heat.
He sucked in a shaky breath. "The same thing that keeps me right here," he placed his hands on his shoulders and stepped an arms distance away. "He wants to be worthy of you. And so do I. If not for the chance to kiss you again, the way I once did, just to say I have you on my side,"
"Would you still want me?"
"What?"
"You have strong feelings for me that never seem to go away. So if it was between me and you, would you still want me?"
His brows shot up. "Bonbon, are you saying you're up for another hot kiss?"
She put her head in her hands again. "I'm regretting that question,"
Damon chuckled and rubbed her arm. "Of course I would,"
"Well, you're both idiots. If he hadn't compelled Toni not to use her magic, we could have been done with this mess," she murmured.
"Yeah he's an idiot. I'm always reminding you of that. My point is he's still your idiot and I'm the idiot that's taken care of said idiot's girl. Giving me something to do so the Good Samaritans who stop in the middle of the road are safe from fanged wrath,"
"Damon," she said bashfully before a mischievous smirk curved her mouth. "Are you telling me I'm a whole walking rehabilitation center for vampires?"
Releasing a deep sigh, Damon clenched his teeth. As hot as she was, she could be a cold bucket of ice water pouring all over him. Just friends, of course. Thank God Stefan was here, a cold shower was what he needed since Toni would be busy for the time being with Kol.
"Hey you know what, you should talk to Stefan, he's a pro at getting manipulated by someone posing as his boo. Oh look, he's here now,"
Without another word, Damon zipped upstairs as Stefan opened the front door. "And that would be my brother placing me in the middle of an awkward enough situation, wouldn't it?" He asked as he walked up.
"At least I'm not alone, right?"
"We don't wanna get into 'at leasts' because then I'm going to have to remind you that at least you didn't spend what you thought was a full night of passion with your girlfriend, only to have a rude awakening first thing in the morning,"
Bonnie scoffed. "What are we going to compare traumas now? Stefan, at least you didn't turn your back on the love of your life, causing a whole chain of events that led to a whole bunch of bullshit and extreme stalking," her chin wobbled as she finished her sentence, the guilt weighing down on her heart.
"Bonnie," he released a soft sigh. "You did what you had to do. No one wants to see the one they love suffer... you look like you could use one of these," Stefan extended his arms out to her. But she shook her head.
"I can't. Then Damon is going to hear me cry and I'm sure he's pissed off enough already,"
As much as Bonnie was blaming herself, she knew Damon was doing the same thing, except his way of expressing his self disappointment tended to be unnecessarily violent. The comfort he would want to provide was far too intimate, considering the feelings he couldn't help but harbor for her. The wedge between her and Kol had been stretched far enough, and she saw no need to widen that gap, with the affection the oldest Salvatore harbored. She'd done enough to hurt Kol.
Stefan regarded her with mournful eyes as he dropped his hands. "If there's anyone who knows how you're feeling right now, it's me. The one person who you'd want comfort from isn't going to comfort you right now, not until you process the guilt. But you can't deny you need to feel like you can go to someone you can trust,"
Bonnie threw her hands around him and squeezed. At least he understood! That was exactly how she felt, and she couldn't figure out how she'd ever get over this feeling. She wept silent tears as Stefan held her. A moment later she felt arms wrap around her from behind and caught the scent of Caroline's signature perfume, the Tease Candy Noir from Victoria's Secret. She too, had a moment once where Klaus tried to fool her into thinking he was Tyler. Such a deception had torn those couples apart and everyone was convinced it was a forever thing. Even if Kol could forgive her for her oversight could she forgive herself? How could she even face him again without feeling so guilty and naive at the same time?
As if she could read her mind, Caroline assured softly as everyone pulled apart to collect themselves. "I heard what the freak did. It's not the same with you two, Bonnie. It's not, we can all tell you that,"
"Even Damon knows that," Stefan added. "Whatever you need, you know we got you,"
When the Salvatore's first came to town, Bonnie had no way of knowing they'd become part of her friend circle, and how much she'd come to realize these were the kind of people she needed in her life. It brought her closer with Care and Elena too. The very lifestyle the vampires led had the potential to tear them all apart with everything it entailed. But she supposed that was the power of true friendship, her and her girls, her whole friend circle even, epitomized ride or die.
"What am I gonna do?" She asked quietly.
"Take some time, but talk to him. Tell him everything about how you're feeling," Caroline replied wistfully.
Toni and Kol's POV
In the Salvatore crypt, Toni was pressing her light into Kol's vampire body when Kol in the siphon body walked in. The skin on his body was turning flush and emanating steam. Darkened thoughts and a furor of pressing questions weighed heavily on Kol's mind, it was almost difficult to block his mind out so she could retain her focus.
Some of his thoughts raised questions of Toni's own, not the one about murdering Kai in various circumstances, more like the one he had about hunting Bonnie to the death, only it wasn't Bonnie like she knew her. That was along with an image of a young teen who very much resembled Kol lying in a coffin, among other situations between the couple that didn't actually appear to be part of their actual history. Neither did Bonnie being a vampire. It made little sense but she supposed that was part of why his mind was so clouded. Figuring there was another time to inquire about it, she forced his thoughts out of her head.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Relax, I'll heal you when you're actually you again. Don't worry."
Kol grabbed the daylight ring lying on the slat next to his body but Toni snatched it. "I'll hold onto that for now. We don't need to give Kai any advantages, that's why I'm weakening him."
"I'm practically desiccated!"
"You'll be fine, drama queen. You have everything?"
Kol flashed a smug smirk and towered over Toni. "Obviously,"
Suddenly Toni's leg shot out and delivered a kick to his groin. He fell to the ground and keeled over in pain. "Arrrghhh! What the fuck was that for?!"
"Sorry! You triggered me! You had a look in your eyes, they same one that Kai had when he-"
"I get it!" Kol grunted, jerking away when Toni tried to help him up.
"We really need to get you back in your body. That is not a popular face." She passed a mournful look. "You want me to heal that?"
"No," he groaned. "He can deal with it himself," He anticipated a magic binding enchantment on Kai's siphon body, as well as his own Original Vampire body that would be performed by Toni. But first, Kol would use Kai's magic to return their souls to their proper bodies.
He placed his hand on Kai's arm. As soon as he did, he felt the magic being forced through his fingertips, magic of his own reaching greedily for it. He closed his eyes and slowed his breathing down. When he'd learned of siphon witches around 1903, he'd become fascinated with the logistics of how siphoning worked. Though he'd never come across a siphon himself, he'd met a coven of witches who claimed that siphons had the ability to utilize magic while absorbing it. That's what Kol did now. There was no need to have Toni heal his vampire body. He performed a spell that would transfer the wounds from his body to Kai's, as well as muting the vampire abilities, a spell that was the opposite of what Hayley and little Hope assisted with to give him the ability to wield magic once again. Only this time he had the power of the Gemini coven, thank you, impulsive sociopathic tendencies! He needed his own body at full strength for what was to come next and gifting all the wounds to Kai would give Kol the advantage. It was a euphoric rush since he was already so full of magic. Siphon magic was feral and greedy. No one as unhinged as a sociopathic with a grudge should have access to such an abundance of potent magic.
When he was certain his own body was free of injuries, thanks to the power of his trusty Gemini coven, Kol chanted the spell to return their souls to their rightful bodies. His breath escaped him and he faltered in Kai's body. His vision faded to black, only to wake up immediately, back in his own and far more handsomely fit body.
"Yeesh," Toni said, cringing as Kai's body dropped to the floor and Kol swung his legs around the side of the stone slab. "You know," she said contemplatively. "This isn't about magic, it's about humanity and doing the right thing. Magic is the advantage, true, but it's also what got us into this mess. Some semblance of human nature has to be what restores the balance in Bonnie's life. So trust me, as much as I'd like this fucker dead for me, for Cheryl, for Bonnie, I don't think killing him is the answer, Kol," her gaze was skeptical, though not devoid of determination.
"Ahead of our original plan, you needn't worry your luminescent head, little sprite. I am tempted, although you're forgetting his power lies in his status with his coven. If he dies, the whole coven dies, including his unmorally wedded," Kol stepped off the slab and nudged the hand of Kai that still held the magic tattoo.
"It was a mistake to give you his body and his power, that worked against him petty bad. Desperate idiot," she shook her head.
Kai was clearly an expert at weaving spells together. Kol supposed he had nothing else to do with his time in the prison world besides figure out loophole after loophole to exact his revenge plots against his coven. Only his original coven was dead and Bonnie was part of the new generation he'd been recruiting. When Kol and Bonnie finally breached intimacy, it should have faded. He'd tampered with the spell, so it must have had something to do with his coven. That complicated things further being that his beloved wouldn't do anything to hurt innocent people, even if they were unhinged enough to join Kai's coven.
"He certainly tried," Kol didn't even want to think of what would have happened had they not intervened when they did. It was fortunate he wasn't privy to their near encounter since being in the role of coven leader should've given him access to Bonnie's emotions, though he didn't feel her at all. Then again, even though he has the power of the coven, she wasn't his supernaturally wedded. The ink marked into their ring fingers indicated that Kai was. In that event, Kol's mind would be on impulse to amend the situation, instead of thinking ahead like he had to now. There was no way he could let Kai get away with what he'd done to Bonnie, especially not after the worlds he'd seen. The siphon was the enemy in any form. "He should have done proper research and anticipated how I'd use the magic I wield. You'll want to leave for this part," he suggested to Toni.
She only shook her head quickly. "Hell no, I'm staying right here, to make sure you leave him intact,"
"You think I haven't learned self control in over a thousand years?"
"I know your emotions are heightened right now. And you're a powerful vampire at heart. You just gave me another damn good reason we can't end this fool now. When I say I'm in, Kol, I'm all in. Helping you protect Bonnie and you from yourself," there were dark thoughts churning in his head and Toni figured she might need to take a peek until-
A scoff from Kol caused Toni to roll her eyes. "Your gang hasn't seen the sort of violence I could bring on a town. I'm merely suggesting if you're faint of heart-"
Now Kol was acting like he didn't know who she was! Having spent two decades as a fearless human, she felt he needed a reminder. "Oh, trust me, we've seen some thangs. You should know I'm not. I've seen your demon face, and I've had my share of rumbles with a rival gang called the Ghoulies. They're called that for a reason, they're brutal and lack humanity. And they're only humans! There isn't anything that can scare me anymore, besides him being out of control. I'll stay," she said triumphantly. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a pocket knife, snapping it open. "I'm fully capable of defending myself,"
Internally, Kol was marveling at the dedication and loyalty the little fae displayed. As his trip into other worlds proved, anyone who knew Bonnie and her heart couldn't help but be a solid force in her corner. "I know I've forced it to be your problem, Toni. But believe me when I say I have the utmost gratitude for your continued cooperation and your dedication to ensuring Bonnie's safety,"
She smirked. Kol getting sentimental? With anyone but Bonnie or his beloved baby sister? Unheard of! "You don't have to thank me," she stepped back and around the siphon's body. "Just kick his ass and let me watch,"
"Fair enough," Kol said with a shrug. "Do your thing, darling,"
"Okay, intentions, power. Fuck this psychopath... I'm good, I got this,"
Toni put her hands on each man's arm and concentrated on her stated intentions. A wave of magic coursed through her and into Kai, also passing through Kol. Their bodies were illuminated by her magic for a split second before it faded. Toni was still in awe of what she was capable of.
"Wake him," Kol said.
She bent down and slapped Kai's face with a loud smack. "Hey, creep! Up,"
The siphon opened his eyes and winced. "Toni, baby. What'd I ever do to you?"
"You should concern yourself with the things we're going to do to you now. Particularly what I'm going to do to you," The heat of fury was pulsing through Kol's veins as he anticipated what a bloody good time he was about to have. There would be no mercy for his crimes against Bonnie and the stain he was on their relationship. He wasn't certain if he should begin by breaking his fingers or punching him in his subpar gob that seemed to ramble endlessly.
The magic drainer looked up. "Oh. It's you. You know, I was actually looking forward to meeting you, Kol. I even had a welcome gift," he smiled like a maniac. "It was actually more of a parting gift, really," he glanced around the tomb. "I seem to have lost it," he rose slowly. "Wait here, I'll go get it," he whispered.
Kol thrust him to the floor with a boot to his chest. "The last white oak stake. The one you gave to Bonnie. Did you expect that she was going to use it on me, her forever lover?"
"You can love her forever. Lot of good that'll do you," the unhinged one his near Cheshire grin, as if he was aware of things Kol hadn't yet been privy to. Then he placed his hand on Kol's leg, yet nothing happened.
A surge of anger pulsed through Kol, who dug his boot into Kai's neck. "No magic, eh? How does it feel to have your magic ripped from you?" He laughed. "You're twice as mad as I've come to witness if you think she'd ever consider you. Bonnie knows you're beyond redem-" he grunted as something pierced his leg. The bugger was packing weapons! Or at least any ordinary item he could use as a weapon. Once he figured out he could conjure no magic, he'd stabbed Kol's leg with a pencil. It only incensed him even more since he'd thought Kai was a more hands on type. Trust a witch to always utilize outside resources instead of their own two hands. The vampiric nature in Kol, of course, was going to enjoy the hands-on approach to combat.
"Don't you dare!" Toni conquered a ball of light between her fingers in anticipation.
"What are you?" Kai gaped in astonishment. Apparently watching Toni wield her magic captivated him.
"No," Kol said, halting her with a raised palm. "I've got this," He reached down and pulled a pencil out of his leg with a groan. Kai then took the opportunity to swing his leg to trip him, only Kol anticipated this and jumped back, before kicking Kai in the chin. "Who is a witch without their magic? Certainly not coven leader material," a derisive chuckle tumbled out of his mouth. "Really just a waste of space as the trials of 1903 proved time and time again. What was it my father used to say to the sort like you? You know, the undesirable, burdensome lot of siphons, like he thought my brother, Nik who I'm sure you've met," Kai climbed to his feet and now glared at Kol. Good, he was angry. As he should be. He needed to be unhinged so Kol could too. "Ahh, yes. You're an abomination. A pathetic abomination and you have no place here or in any reality with Bonnie,"
"Don't you get it? You think by now I wanna chase her? I need her. I couldn't let her go if I tried and believe me, I tried! This isn't just an obsession!"
Kol, he's telling the truth, Toni shared mentally. Or he really believes that. Kai rushed at him, knocking him to the floor. Fists flew, connecting with his face or chest as often as he could until Kol hit him with an elbow and flipped him on the ground.
It was clear that punch after near bone crunching punch proved to do nothing to change his mind that Kai had some sort of entitlement to Bonnie. Kol wanted nothing more than to end the fool's miserable existence but a physical brawl would suffice for the time being. His fists were loaded with passion but it became clear that the siphon's were as well as he got to his feet and they continued grappling for control. It made no sense, his love was destined for Kol for over a thousand fucking years! What sort of passion could the siphon find in an unmatched pairing with his beloved?
There was no way he'd ever let the answer to that come to light. In a surprise move, Kol head butted Kai. When he fell to the ground, he pounced on him, gripping his neck in a chokehold.
"Kol," Toni's sharp voice sounded far off in the distance. "Kol stop! You're gonna kill him... It'll kill Bonnie too!"
His life was being compromised and it would begin to affect Bonnie. Their supernatural nuptials should have been annulled, yet as his wife, even if only by title and not practice, she was part of the Gemini Coven. If the coven leader died, every member of the coven went with him.
Bonnie had Kol's vampire blood in her, she'd be fine. She'd only return as a vampire and that would be fulfilling the thousand year old fate. Finally!
Toni shrieked. "God dammit, Kol. No!"
He would break Kai's neck before she issued an enchantment to halt him. When his fangs dropped, he realized the spell suppressing his magic had worn off. Even better. This was going to end now.
Suddenly a blur plucked him from his spot on the siphon and slammed him against the wall of the mausoleum. A small fist enclosed around his neck and the fangs of Abby hissed in his face. "You trying to kill Bonnie?! You're hurting her!"
Instead of responding, he simply thrust her into the opposite wall and sped towards Kai again. This time the blur that subdued him pierced his carotid artery. Bloody hell! What in blazing hell was Nik doing out, shouldn't he be making Abby pay for her deception in rendering him indisposed?
"What the hell are you trying to do to Bonnie?!" Nik yelled his thunderous roar. His hybrid face slowly faded as Kol's crimson essence dripped from his lips.
"I'm ending this once and for all! Sealing our fate as has been foretold a millenia ago. She is mine and she will be my vampire. It's the only way to rid her of this fungus, at last," he gestured to Parker on the floor who was wiggling under Toni's foot.
"You'll take a dagger straight to your heart before you'll ever trade her life for a vampire existence. And now you won't go near her until the werewolf venom passes through your system. Pity for you, having just been reunited with your love," a smirk curved the edge of his brother's lips. "There is but one opportunity to rectify this situation,"
"They won't allow it," Kol bit through his teeth.
"Allow what? Are you guys talking about the whole secret witch thing no one will tell me?" Kai laughed. "Just fill me in, I'm sure I'm a better candidate. Coven leader and all. Plus I really don't condone violence against my women. The way you were just going to kill me so she could be a vampire. I mean at least be a gentleman and take her on a long walk on a short-"
Abby zipped forward and punched him in the face, knocking him out cold. "God, his rambling," she shook her head annoyed. Then she looked to Toni. "What happened?"
"I think Kai did something when he switched their bodies, since his magic tattoo is still on Kai. Even as Kol and that was supposed to be annulled since before I even met Kol,"
"Annulled how?"
Kol scoffed. "How do you think, Abigail? What sort of intimate happenings would render a previously chaste betrothal invalid?" Abby raised her brows at that and exchanged quick glances with Nik. "She is mine in every way and I won't let her go, ever. Not again," he reminded her as he towered over her. "I love her,"
"You say you love her but you do not get to make the choice to turn Bonnie. That's up to her and her only," The vampire veins took over her otherwise would be pleasant features. "If you turn my baby into a vampire against her will, I'm going to chop your head off, and throw it in the ocean!" She yanked the siphon up and zipped out with him.
Nik let out a silent whistle as he stepped over to Toni. "You realized you restored the siphon's witch magic when you returned Kol's vampirism in your effort to cease his deadly attack. An amateur move, Miss Topaz. The siphon could have realized that and then we all would have been outmatched,"
"His magic can't touch me,"
"Another amateur mistake is underestimating your enemy. It's just as well, your tutelage did come from Kol. As you can see, his impulse behavior can be quite detrimental to even Bonnie," he smirked at his brother, who was pressing his palm into his carotid with a glare. "Though we are in possession of dark objects to block his magic, we'll require your assistance in ensuring his magic is kept at bay, once he wakes,"
She rolled her eyes from Kol to Klaus. "Why can't you just do what you did the other night? I'm up to my neck, swamped in-"
"That wasn't a request, tiny fae. It was an order and you'll come with me now,"
"You know that 'do it now' bit was more intimidating the first time around when he did it," she thrust a head nod toward Kol. "I'll go when I'm good and ready,"
Klaus's face slowly transitioned from impatient to angry while she spoke. "Which will be in a minute here," she said quickly as he glowered at her. She stepped around him and went to Kol, leaning down. "Hey. I'm gonna save you the what the fuck bit because I know what you were thinking, even if I couldn't read your mind, Kol. You're not hiding it well, it's clear that you aren't even thinking of Bonnie right now!"
"Then you already know what's in store for her. How any of you could try to sway me when you can't even comprehend what's been fated," he laughed. "As if there's any other path for Bonnie and I,"
"She always has a choice, it's her right,"
He scoffed. "There is no choice when it comes to fate. You'd better run along before the wolf venom kicks in and I rip you apart and render you pixie dust,"
The threat stung, not because Kol was being an ass, but because he was allowing mad passion to drive him despite what the consequences may be. It's the very thing she'd fished out of Bonnie's mind that led to their initial separation since it meant there was no cost too great for Kol, as long as he had Bonnie. In the past, he was willing to die as long as she was by his side. Only she was so young back then, way too young to be as broken as that sort of heartbreaking loss would have left her. She'd already been through it with Betty three years ago and her trip to New Orleans was the only thing that kept her blonde friend going, in hopes she'd see Archie again. But it would have been different with Kol and Bonnie and he still would have risked it, knowing they were meant for one another!
That callous disregard for consequences even when it came to Bonnie had given way to selflessness by the time Kol had met Toni and it made no sense how that could all unravel so quickly. The timeline didn't add up, he'd not spent that long in Kai's body. Something more had to be driving his fear that he'd somehow lose his love. Not because he felt it was fated, believing in fate would allot them ample time. The fact that he didn't recruit Toni just to end up reverting back to his reckless behavior couldn't have been lost on him. The turmoil in his head was far too great to comprehend.
She sighed and stood up. "I don't understand you, Kol,"
"Best not to try love, the fool hardly understands himself and I'm positive the little witch is attracted to danger, it's why she's so entranced with him," Klaus supplied, in a more merrily disposition than he'd held moments prior. "Now we best get going before his hallucinations cause him to turn on you. Trust me when I say no one is immune. Well except for me of course," he laughed and used his hybrid speed to snap Kol's neck before his face turned serious. "Shall we?"
Toni scowled as she followed Klaus out of the crypt. "You'll want to seal it so he doesn't wreak havoc on the townsfolk,"
She silently agreed and used her light magic to seal the tomb shut.
Two nights later in transport
Kai's POV
God, you're an idiot. Good thing the whole coven is dead. Because this is embarrassing, even for you.
'Shut up, Luke. You don't even exist anymore,'
You make me wish I was dead for real. Living in your head is not the way I wanted to spend my life at all. At least in Liv's head there'd be more semblance of normalcy. Instead of all this- Luke chuckled derisively- what even is this? Moral debates over what to do about Bonnie? What is there to debate about? She HATES you!
Kai leaned his head against the wall of the van he was traveling in and sighed. It was magically sealed, yet it wasn't the kind of magic he could siphon. Torturing witch covens and that one voodoo priestess resulted in no answers about this unknown power and it made no sense. It was definitely an ancient power with how strong it was and it couldn't be washed away. Yet as a vampire, somehow he was able to compel Toni into doing his bidding and still she wouldn't disclose what magic was in her. She had to have known what she was if she was working with Bonnie and company.
Bonnie Bennett. Kai's spidey senses detected the Bennett witch as soon as blinked into his world. And it wasn't just her magic, it was a familiar entity. It drove him towards her, no matter how he tried to deny it, at this point he had to face facts.
Yeah, face the fact that whatever's pulling you towards her isn't going to make her like you- Luke cackling interrupted Kai's thought process that was leading him to the conclusion he periodically stumbled over until his first meeting with the former harvest witch- that fate was in action. After that there was no more stumbling, just a matter of getting her on his side. The reason for it all! He'd tried to tell her so in the Chambre de Chasse but Bonnie was way past stubborn at that point.
'Little twerp, I mean little brother, you were there when Delilah did the spell. Bonnie was meant for me. She's my soulmate,'
Yeah, why don't you tell her that?
Kai was no fool- Yes you are -
"Shut up! She's mine, she's always been mine!" He yelled out loud and then spoke quickly. "Whether I'm sound of mind isn't the actual debate, it's what we're going to do when we finally have a chance to be great. We'll build a new coven and there's still lots of enemies and power to grab. She'll see it because it's fate,"
Pfft right. How's that working out for you right now? Do you even know where we're going?
"Shut up! Shut up, shut up, shut it already! Get out of my head!" Kai beat fists on his head as Luke continued to laugh and mock him. Suddenly the van stopped.
Oh shit, we're here.
The vehicle doors could be heard opening and closing as well as footsteps approaching. The back doors opened and Kai the bright of day showed him he was back in New Orleans. St Joseph's cemetery to be exact.
Four faces regarded him skeptically and he chose one to settle on. With almond eyes in an alluring green gaze and heart shaped face, she raised a brow at him.
"Talking to yourself again and even you just want you to shut up," she shook her head and shrugged.
Bonnie Bennett. His forever love, his one and only, his true mate.
If I could gag right now...
Kai thought of the heated kisses he shared with Bonnie while inhabiting the Old One's body and Luke decided to take a hike back into his greater subconscious. Finally, some peace and quiet! Until...
"I'm not surprised, love," the Old Dude said. "What do you expect, he's been rambling on for nearly two decades, it's all he knows,"
If there was a face Kai hated besides any member of the original Gemini Coven, it was the face of Kol Mikaelson. He'd previously thought Damon's face was the most despicable but here was the Old One, taking first place in his loathsome heart. He wished the werewolf bite would have just killed him the way it would an ordinary vampire. At the very least it kept him away from Bonnie for a few days.
"Get up," Toni said.
Kai silently obliged after attempting to make a jab to the ancient vampire on how he didn't have to do much talking when his tongue was down Bonnie's throat, but Toni must have worked her mysterious power on his vocals, seeing as how he couldn't talk.
Damon shoved him along to walk in front of Bonnie's entourage. "You're America's most wanted sweetheart right now. But to take you off the radar, the witches will have to take care of you. Where better to go than the witch capital?"
What the hell did that mean? Sending him back to witches, what did they expect? Kai was a siphon after all. He could siphon the ancestral magic right out of the floor if he wanted to. In fact, he wondered why he didn't think of that before, but at the time he was on another mission...
Marcel's POV
"Welcome back, lovebirds. Who's the third wheel?" Marcel said, beaming his movie star grin at Toni Topaz. A pretty face that was unusually difficult to miss, as well as the most tempting scent, yet the young fae was in the presence of Original and toddler vampires. Odder than that was the fact that she'd accompanied them back here instead of making her way to California. "And I'm not talking about Damon,"
His gaze then settled on young Bonnie Bennett, standing hand in hand with Kol. The three years that had gone by had been generous to her, transforming her into a vision anyone could see. The neck length bob complimented her heart shaped face, but more than that, she now had the look and the essence of that of a woman. Much more woman than she was the time she snuck off to New Orleans with the Salvatore vampire, who no longer had the appearance of a third wheel, Marcel noticed from his peripheral perspective. But when it came to Bonnie, it was evident everything about her was set up to ruin Kol, from the inside out.
Marcel supposed that's what would happen when you were a Mikaelson. He corrected himself mentally with a slow blink. That's what happened when you were Kol Mikaelson. Find a girl, fall in love and hold on to her at the expense of anything and everything anyone may hold dear. Except in his case he was unfortunate enough to find an eternal mate in the form of a mortal witch with an air of selflessness that often endangered her life, amping the erratic impulses of Kol. Was it really fate or was it a test?
Damon did that unnecessary expressive eyes thing he did as he kicked the third wheel in the back of his shin. The young witch fell to his knees, maintaining a silent and smug expression. "Oh this is Supernatural America's Most Wanted. Now, I know he looks like a creepy little pipsqueak, but when this guy has magic..." he mimicked an explosion, adding hand gestures. "Worse than a kid going crazy in a candy store,"
"And Toni here has blocked his magic, hasn't she?" His eyes rolled over to Kol. He knows that's not allowed, he thought with a mental shake of his head.
Toni lifted a languid shoulder, "It was-"
"Self defense," the group said.
"Objection," the siphon spoke up suddenly. "Clearly this is a hostage situation. I don't even have any magic to defend myself with. All I wanted to do was give this guy-" he gestured to Kol. "the most excruciating death a vampire could have and then go on a sexy vacation with my wifey-"
Toni waved her hand over him and his mouth clamped shut as Bonnie ran a soothing hand down Kol's back. "You see our dilemma here, this guy is delusional. We need Davina since Bonnie can't use magic against him. Where is she?" The sheepish gaze she concealed wasn't slick. It was clear her powers were still in their infancy.
This lot was indeed clever, and Marcel supposed he would have done the same thing, given the situation. Only it was clear Davina was in enough pain over the way Kol used her. Everyone was tired of the way the Mikaelson's deemed their brand of coercion acceptable.
"I did warn you all not to waste your time,"
"Oh come on, Marcel," Toni scoffed. "I know her and I know she knows more about this prophecy. It's already underway,"
Davina appeared suddenly, from a cloaking spell. "It's okay, Marcel," she kept her eyes trained on Toni. "I know what you want me to do and it's a powerful spell. The best I can do is expression magic, it's the closest to yours, it'll mimic some things you can do. We'll all have to work together," then she looked directly at Bonnie. "We can mentor one another,"
Bonnie nodded and stepped forward. "Whatever it takes, I'm game,"
Damon was uncharacteristically quiet as he sat at the bar in Russeau's alongside Kol and Marcel. Maybe it was the awkward tension between him and the Original. Clearly something that had to do with Bonnie, but he supposed it wasn't his business. What mattered at the moment was figuring out how to keep the Gemini sociopath at bay and how two vampires, a witch, and a halfling faerie were going to be an audience for an ancient faerie clan. "So how is this going to work, you can't set foot in California," Marcel wondered aloud as he poured himself another drink.
"Toni was my ticket in, only now that I'm being commissioned to escort her, I'd say things are looking up for vampires," Kol answered.
Something just wasn't right about his perspective on California. It was clear he didn't even want to go, yet he was intent on going. For the girl? Soulmates sure, but was it really worth all this upheaval? Bonnie was a witch and all evidence pointed to the fact that she was content with that life and being human. She didn't want immortality but was Kol seriously going to watch her grow old and bury her? Or was the visit to California a ruse to try and sway her mind?
If getting rid of the siphon was going to break their supernatural nuptials, then she'd be free of her ties to him, which was the point of coming back to New Orleans and enlisting Davina to ensure it actually goes off as planned. Deflowering the witch had already caused a global lapse in magic, even for her, yet somehow the matrimony spell remained intact.
"It doesn't make sense, I mean you already tried breaking the spell. Are you sure she's fully..." Marcel trailed off as Damon drank down a full glass of bourbon.
"Positive," Kol smirked. "She's far separated from her innocence by now,"
Marcel took into account the fact that Damon glared at Kol through the rim of the next glass he downed. More inside drama Marcel couldn't be certain he wanted to be privy to. It couldn't be like Klaus's annoying doppelgänger situation, could it? It wasn't like Damon and Kol were a pair of brothers. He suppressed a smirk before he finished his drink.
"If you think about it, you really just made things worse for little Witchy," Damon remarked with a demeanor destined to instigate.
This has to be entertaining, another fight over a girl . True Kol was stronger, faster, and deeply passionate when it came to Bonnie. Where his passion captivated him, his judgment failed him in the ways of strategy. Strategy was Damon's game, he never appeared to bluff unless he could already anticipate the outcome. He could very well gain the advantage over Kol if he triggers him, which Marcel was certain that that was exactly where Damon was leading him.
"And how do you figure that, Damon?" Kol's question was calm, contained. That meant anger was bubbling beneath the surface.
"You couldn't even take her out of town with your magic loopholes and witchy knowledge, all you've done is make Kai even more demented by going all Love Jones and that didn't even work. Now that Bonnie's hooked on the feeling she almost got raped again and what the hell were you doing out so long anyways? I know you can't feel her anymore but can't you feel her?" He said this all while slowly pouring another drink.
Faster than he'd ever seen him move, Kol zipped over and slammed Damon's head on the bar countertop and then snapped his neck. Then he took Damon's drink and swirled it around in the glass before he took a huge gulp of it.
Marcel casually sipped his drink. So no competition, Kol wins. "Yeah, that Damon really knows how to hit a nerve," he stated.
"I won't be slandered for the steps I've taken to protect my beloved, especially in light of all the ways he's failed her himself," he nudged Damon before he turned to Marcel. "The siphon has infiltrated and breached a moment of intimacy while borrowing my body. My darling remained unaware to the fact until the reconnaissance team burst in,"
Marcel nodded slowly, finally understanding the severity of the situation. Kai Parker was certifiably insane and his fixation on Bonnie was greater than anyone had revealed. They came here for assistance with a pest who was making headlines in the news, at least that's what they said. Things actually ran deeper than that, and still it wasn't something they could take to the summit. Witches needed to come together to eliminate this problem that was a frozen in time, teenaged sociopath.
"You don't have to explain it to me. This obviously isn't something y'all can handle discreetly and if it was going to be easy, he wouldn't be a national problem by now, would he?"
Kol grinned. "I've never liked you, Marcellus, but witnessing your intellectual capabilities to understand reason surpass that of Salvatore means I can tolerate you to some extent, and not even for my girl,"
Sneering back at him, Marcel replied, "Wish I could say the same for you but we both know it wouldn't be true," he shrugged.
Internally it irked him that there were at least two reasons he tolerated each Mikaelson, for the brothers at least. He cared for Hope like a kid sister because she was being raised by that family and that was no walk in the park for any child. The other reason was the Bennett witches. He'd taken a liking to Abby in the past few years and Bonnie was brave and selfless with the heart of a warrior. She was a good one and even though Kol spiraled without her, it was clear she centered him and tamed the beast inside. That, he could respect, which made Kol tolerable.
"Oh come, now! Not even for Bex?"
"Hell no, it's a bullet dodged with her out of my life," Marcel shook his head and sipped his drink. Klaus was always sabotaging their shot at happiness, it was no use. Even if he did love Rebekah, he'd never be a Mikaelson, therefore he wasn't so fucking crazy as to try something that would always be in vain. That was Kol's job within his own relationship and the fool would probably only realize it when Bonnie was long gone because she was a fucking human with no remote interest in becoming a vampire. She took pride and cherished her one life to live and that was her right.
"You can lie to my brother all you want Marcel, but you can't lie to me and you can't deny what you truly want,"
The familiar cadence of Rebekah's intonation never failed to make his heart stutter. Even if physically he maintained his composure he knew she'd always be able to detect the change in his heart's rhythm, his senses would always be attuned to react when she was near.
Marcel turned around to meet the gaze of his favorite and by far the prettiest Mikaelson. "Thought you were tracking the rest of the cult with Freya,"
"I was. Unfortunately a certain siphon someone has been making national headlines, shining light on anyone targeting witches, wiccans, and the like. Malachai Parker is gone and so is Davina," she looked at Kol. "It's time to wake Elijah,"
Omg four more chapters left before Bonnie turns into a vampire ?
Also the Bonnie tears and despair will take a backseat while I give my Kennett some bliss & peace before things get crazier, there is still a lot Kol must reconcile with what he's learned about AU Bonnie's.
And my first favorite Mikaelson will re-emerge! Acting right finally, I wanted Elijah to be everything I wanted in this story but that just didn't work out in the beginning, there may still be Hope! If you get what I mean.
Any errors in grammar or continuity I will do my best to hunt them down as I read this baby back.
