Vengeance of the Seven: What comes after Vengeance
A/N: The polls are closed and the votes are in. This is what comes next.
Gendo was recalling that day after the incident in which the Fourth Child was sacrificed to defeat the Angel that possessed Unit-03, only it was worse than what had initially happened. The fist of his son had never made contact with his face…but this time…this time, it would. As he was being held by his neck by Shinji's wrath, who was fuming with unleashed hate, and he raised his right hand up.
"Aaaurgh!" He yelled at Gendo, letting out all of his hatred at his father, making contact with his nose, mouth and forehead!
Bash! Gendo's head was knocked backwards, spilling blood from his nose and mouth.
"Aah!" He groaned.
"Whoo!" The vengeful Shinji expressed. "That felt good! I'm going to knock as much of your teeth out as possible!"
Bash! He punched Gendo in the face again, and again…and again until he was reduced to an unrecognizable smear with a body.
Shinji's pride watched from afar and could only feel pride at his wrathful brother indulging in Shinji's drive to hurt his father. It was actually very fulfilling, to see Gendo finally suffer. As Shinji's wrath raised him over his head, the arrogant incarnation marveled at how the man that betrayed his son more than once was hurled into the ceiling and came crashing down onto the floor. This was the sins of the son being visited upon the father, and the sin getting the most out of this retribution right now was the son's anger, drive for revenge, and it was getting its fill.
"Rrraaurgh!" The wrath yelled again, slamming his foot down on Gendo's back.
Crack! Something in his spine went, sending a wave of pain through Gendo's body.
"Aaaaahh!" He howled in agony.
He then felt his left leg getting grabbed on and he was dragged backwards to see his son's fury looking down at him with such satisfaction on his face that was similar to his own, but the only difference between them was that he was only happy when he was about to get what he wanted…and Shinji, or at least a part of him, was happy that he was doing something he enjoyed with such relish.
"You felt that in your back, old man?" He asked Gendo. "That was your spinal cord getting broken! Now, you can't walk! Ain't that just overkill?"
He reached down and picked him up again and slammed him against the wall.
"Stop!" He uttered, but Shinji's wrath slammed him against the other wall behind them. "Stop!"
"Oh, no, I can't stop now," the wrathful incarnation said. "I'm having way too much fun to stop. And I can't stop until you're unable to hurt anyone else ever again. That's right, Father! This isn't just a beatdown for you. It's a death sentence. An execution! This is your funeral, just without the flowers and tears! And here's your obituary! Gendo Ikari, the man that screwed everyone over for his own ambitions! Cause of death: Brutal retribution by the vengeance of Shinji Ikari, the son he abandoned! Aaaaurgh!"
Then, Gendo was thrown down the hallway like a discarded piece of garbage, sprawling limbs until he hit the wall at the end. He could feel the light diminishing around him as he looked up and saw the wrath of his son coming after him.
"This has been so much fun," he heard him tell him. "Goodbye, Father."
He saw him raise his right foot up, bringing it over his head.
"Wait!" They heard the arrogant incarnation yell.
"Don't stop me now, brother!" The wrath responded, putting his foot down on the floor. "He needs to pay with his life! He needs to know exactly how it feels to lose all hope of any happy endings! Don't deny me this!"
"I wouldn't dare deny you this, brother. He's going to get what you have coming towards him, but just let him have a few precious minutes to breathe his final breaths. I just want him to see and hear one more thing before he gets his worthless life snuffed out."
Sighing in reluctance, the wrathful part of Shinji grabbed Gendo by his neck and picked him up.
"What will he see and hear last?" He asked the arrogant one.
"What our other selves are doing to not-so-sweet Mother's fake tomb," he revealed. "When he sees and hear what will become of her…then he has your permission to die."

"The two that were coming here are now heading towards the Eva cages," Hyuga informed Misato, "and they're taking Commander Ikari with them."
"What is going on here?" Ritsuko questioned.
"Retribution," Misato suggested, getting the impression that these seven incarnations that were Shinji's different desires unleashed upon the world, despite having different views and objectives, all shared the same ambition…which was to punish those that had hurt him more than anyone else ever has. The arrogance of Shinji explaining how the vengefulness of Shinji wouldn't have hesitated to hold back on inflicting grievous injuries on Gendo…was a suggestion of a nightmare to behold, the son taking out his fury on the father…without a shred of mercy or compassion that would've been beyond the parent.
"Are Units-00 and 02 back in the cages?" She asked.
"ETA is two minutes," Hyuga answered. "Oh, you've gotta be kidding!"
"What?" Ritsuko questioned.
"The three Shinjis that are already in the Eva cages," went Maya, "they're…they're…"
On a monitor, Misato and Ritsuko looked at the surveillance of Unit-01…and couldn't believe what was happening.
"This is just overkill," Misato expressed, and turned to leave the command center, heading towards the cages.

Gendo was dragged by his neck by his son's wrath into the cages and then brandished before three of the other incarnations of his son, seeing what they were doing to Unit-01.
"No! Stop!"
The three other Shinjis, his lust, greed and envy, turned to face Gendo, and tossed a large piece of the Eva's head armor away, exposing the brownish, artificial flesh underneath that was embedded with machine parts.
"This isn't even a proper reunion," said the lustful female Shinji, holding a bone spear in her hands. "Not that it seems like anyone old enough to understand anything about family believes in such a trivial thing in this family…if this is what you can even call it."
Smash! The avaricious Shinji, looking like a dark-skinned demon masquerading as a fourteen-year-old using a wig, with his eyes black as night and his teeth like fangs, punched another huge hole in the Eva's waist before he jumped back up to the bridge where the rest were.
"What family?" He asked his lustful sister. "Shinji hasn't had that for a long time. He longed for a family, a real one, not some substitute that wouldn't last after his overpriced and forcible debt to fight these so-called Angels was over and done with. Only problem with that desire is that the two people that can't even fit into his hollow excuse for a life…AREN'T EVEN FIT TO BE PARENTS TO A DAMN, TWO-LEGGED DOG! It seems like everyone else from before Second Impact even became false history had some type of family that mattered, and then it happens, and everyone born after, or at least the ones that get drafted into this degrading filth of a life, get what can only be called shit for breakfast!"
"No wonder he always feels the slightest twinge of jealousy towards others that have people in their lives that actually give a damn about him," went the envious incarnation of Shinji, holding up a broken piece of Unit-01's armor in his hands. "Whenever I look at either of them, or rather, whenever I look at that bastard and his wife's false god tomb, I feel nothing but outright jealousy towards other people that don't have to suffer because of these two nitwits!"
"Yeah, it's difficult to understand why Shinji, of all the people born into this ravaged world that doesn't seem to have a future, had to be born to these two that aren't even involved in his life," Shinji's pride stated, and Gendo gargled something that wasn't heard. "Still, it's all the more reason we exist right now. We need to protect Shinji from his failed parents."
"Protect him?!" That annoying voice came back to bite these incarnations. "What exactly are you protecting that idiot for?!"
On the other side of the cage, Asuka and Rei appeared, having returned to the cages and vacated their Evas, and were present to see Unit-01 being trashed and Gendo being manhandled.
"He's a vegetable because of you seven!" Asuka yelled. "How is that protecting him?!"
"Because sleep spares him pain while we exist to carry his revenge against his parents," said the lustful Shinji. "Awake, in their presence, he suffers. He has suffered because of these two for far too long, and he can't take any more from them. She traded her position of motherhood for false divinity, therefore becoming unworthy and undeserving of Shinji. He abandoned his only son and chose to have someone he called a friend, who only accepted this devil's deal to pilot these lousy, worthless behemoths in order to help his sister get better, killed rather than rescue him. But maybe we should hear from dear, old Daddy why he chose to have Suzuhara murdered instead of rescued before we have done to him what he did to the young man that had someone to live for more than Shinji ever could've back then. Yes, we should hear from him before he bites the dust!"
"Yes, we should," the arrogant Shinji admitted, and grabbed Gendo's head to meet his gaze. "Why did you choose to have Suzuhara murdered when your son chose to have his own life taken rather lose a friend?"
Gendo looked at him…but didn't say anything.
"You ain't dead yet, old man, so if you plan to waste our time breathing your precious breaths, you will find your reprieve undone. Now answer!"
But still, Gendo didn't utter a word.
"Maybe he needs a feminine touch," the wrathful Shinji suggested. "Yo, Lust! Can I tempt you into shoving that bone spear of yours up his good-for-nothing ass?"
The lustful incarnation sighs and takes off her pouch and comes over to her arrogant and wrathful counterparts.
"If my boy gets hurt or worse, you're going to eat this spear," she told the arrogant one as she gave him the pouch with the kitten inside.
"You've really gotten attached to this animal, haven't you?" He asked her.
"That albino jerk was going to kill him instead of just doing something as benevolent as taking it to an animal shelter or sparing some food. When is something as cruel as murder an act of mercy? I'd sooner relieve him of his manhood than let him kill a defenseless animal that's just trying to survive."
She then took the bone spear and brought it to Gendo's neck.
"You…you wouldn't dare kill me," he told her, and felt his left cheek get sliced by her. "Aah."
"Don't act like I'm predictable!" She told him. "You don't know me! You don't know a damn thing about me, you spineless oaf! Now, why did you make that decision that cost your son a great deal of his peace of mind…or you get this spear of bone up your ass. Talk!"
Then, he felt his son's wrath tighten his grip on his right shoulder, just enough to let him know that none of them were playing.
"Answer!" The wrathful, lustful and arrogant incarnations demanded of him.
"Because he was irrelevant!" He finally revealed. "He served no other purpose than to die! If he couldn't pilot the Eva, he was useless, no matter what anyone believed! Even if there was a chance that he could be rescued, the threat of the Angel was greater than any one life! So I made a choice to forfeit any attempt to rescue the pilot, and it's a choice I'd make again if I had to do it all over again!"
"So…you chose to kill him…simply because…you thought he was useless to you?" The arrogant Shinji asked. "You chose to have him murdered…simply because you decided he had no other use to you?"
"Those that can't serve a higher purpose must be disposed of."
"That wasn't some irrelevant person to you," the wrathful Shinji expressed. "That was someone's only son."
"That was someone's big brother," the lustful Shinji added.
"Someone who had a future," went the jealous Shinji, a tear escaping his left eye, "and still does have a future…more than anyone else does."
"He was someone else's baby," the arrogant Shinji uttered. "You could've let your own son give up his life to save Toji's…and he'd be rid of you two, free from his obligation to your wretched excuses…because you obliviously don't give a shit about his feelings. But you chose not to. You can't see past your own interests to understand what your son needs or desires, either for himself or for someone else. Neither of you ever did. So, neither of you deserve him. You didn't deserve him, then…and you never will. You can finish the job, Wrath. Shinji's better off without these has-beens that could never measure up. Set him free from his false parents. Set him free from his ill-performing father and phantom of a mother. Satiate your vengeance. We don't need him to say any more hurtful words."
The wrathful one raised Gendo up and let go of his neck.
"Go," he uttered to him, "to…Hell."
Gendo was thrown across the large room, surprising everyone with how strong he was for being the fury within Shinji Ikari…and he was reduced to a splat on the wall as what remained of his body fell into the liquid used to cool the Evas during refrigeration. He never even saw a white light. No light, no angels, not even an answer to any of his questions. There had been nothing in his end but nothingness.
"Good riddance," the wrathful Shinji said, relieved. "One down, and one more to go."
-x-
Misato couldn't believe it! She couldn't believe that Shinji, or rather, the part of him that had nothing but rage and a propensity towards violence, had just murdered his own father! It was like she was looking at a different person, which was true, but she was looking at someone she knew that suffered because of his father. And the worst part…was how far these incarnations were willing to go to understand what led the man to his execution right then, wanting to know why he decided to put an end to rescuing the pilot of the failed Unit-03 activation before it even got off its feet.
Gendo had the boy murdered…simply because he decided that he was of no further use to him, which devastated Shinji to no end. There was no way to forgive this action that had consequences, and the one that chose to execute this abomination…got exactly what he deserved from those that disagreed with his decision.
Then, Misato noticed Shinji's pride looking at her, and he took something out of his pocket.
"There is a reason for why the arrogance of people will always be the one sin that can't be erased from existence," he told her. "That bastard had this in his possession before we brought him down here to pay his retribution. It only made wanting to get rid of him past the point of the already-inevitable drive he gave us to want to make him suffer."
Misato kept her distance, despite the fact that he was approaching her to hand the object over.
"You needn't fear," he uttered, holding out the object, resembling some sort of small case. "If one of us wanted to off you, you'd already be gone. I don't know what this thing is, but I can put two and two together and conclude that whatever it is, it's dangerous. But Shinji, beside himself, even before he put on the talisman that brought out his seven desires while putting himself into a coma until our duty to him is complete, trusts you more than he does any other adult in his life, and if he trusts you…then it must mean that you're someone that doesn't have a death wish like some of the people he grew to despise, despite his jealousy of them and their flaunting of happiness in front of him all the time. Although…you can stand to show more restraint in your own pride. Even when this is over, he'd rather not see you die because of something insignificant and disgraceful."
Misato then reached out and took the case from Shinji's pride.
"How do you know Shinji won't be held responsible for the murder of his father, which is something he committed?" She asked him.
"Because that bastard…was on a lot of people's hit lists," he answered. "He wasn't the most honest person and not so dedicated to anyone in his past. If we didn't kill him, someone else was going to. It was only fitting that the one to do the job was the one that wanted to get rid of him the most for his own arrogance. He was cruel, unapologetic, no remorse, no empathy, no sympathy, no soul except for one born of hatred towards all others. By removing him from the grand equation that is the rest of existence, Shinji's seven desires have done the world a great service by removing a weed from the garden of society that some allowed to wrap sickening roots around. Wrath can be a powerful emotion…when allowed to do as intended to those deserving of its fury."
She looked at him, then at the boy that was the anger, then the boy that was the greed, followed by the girl that was his lust. As much as she wanted to see an echo of his father in them, she didn't see anything beyond the boy that had been abandoned by him when he was little and, ever since then, had desired his acknowledgement and acceptance, not his contempt like he had done something and was never informed of it. No, she could only see Shinji, broken into these seven beings that were all just different shades of his own existence, each lacking something that was compensated by the other six members of this…brotherhood, this…band of broken individuals that stood out to stand up for the one that lacked the nerve to stand up for himself because he had no control over his tiny corner of the world. Then, she opened the case to examine its contents…and looked at the arrogant one again.
"You think this is dangerous?"
"If you think it needs to be destroyed, then you do what you need to do in order to dispose of it."

Swat! Shinji's sloth, unlike the previous times she had longed for the reward of rest, had mellowed out and gotten to work on protecting Shinji's body from the security guards sent to intercept herself and his gluttony from removing him from the trauma ward, knocking out three guards armed with batons…with her bare hands and feet.
Shinji's gluttony, knocking two other guards out in the hallway, was impressed by his sister's actions; she might've been the laziest out of them, but she was not a pushover.
Crack! She held one guy's arm up and dislocated it from its shoulder.
"Aah!" He groaned.
"Oh, please!" She responded, her tone one of contempt. "Hearing your whine of pain is a pain to me. We're going to let you go now, so I suggest you have a doctor take a look at that arm."
Gluttony pushed the gurney past the defeated guards and the lazy sister followed him.
"Who are you two?" The man with the dislocated arm asked them.
"We are…unspoken desires that exist within us all," the girl explained. "We are the bitterness within the men and women that want to indulge in their desires without having to put in the effort to enjoy them. I am the part of everyone that is tired of the contempt and would rather sleep for an eternity if it meant forgetting everything and everyone that caused pain and suffering. He's the part of us all that is always hangry over the lack of satisfaction in life because everyone else takes the joy out of the delicious banquet in the grand hall that is life."
"Yeah, hangry, and food doesn't really help me get over this cruel fact of life that is a constant bane right now," the gluttonous Shinji uttered, making sure the talisman around Shinji's neck that unleashed them was on his chest so it didn't come off. "Oh, you've gotta be kidding me! Sloth! We got more guards coming our way!"
The lazy sister looked up in front of them and frowned as she did front flips towards the guards; her bursts in energy only stemming from her desire to be done with being bothered by these fools that came after them. She drop-kicked the two guards and stepped on their hands, earning groans from them as they felt the pain.
"Can we please go now?!" She asked her brother. "I'm tired of having to fight these fools!"

Misato told Asuka and Rei to walk away. There was no doubt that they couldn't even stop these five embodiments of Shinji's that were going to carry out their goals at all costs, and she didn't need unnecessary casualties to be in the way of them. Whatever it was about Unit-01 that was making the embodiments of Shinji want to dispose of it after disposing Gendo, she didn't want to be around when they were done.
"What does that idiot think he's doing, dismantling an Eva?" Asuka had wanted to know.
"That idiot just whacked his old man for having a friend murdered," she told her in response. "I'd rather he not get the impression that either of you were part of the problem and needed to be removed from the situation. Whatever he feels needs to be done, it's best to just leave it be."
"Ikari-Kun is…very determined to do as he intends," Rei stated.
Suddenly, the whole base shook for two seconds and stopped.
"I don't like the sound of whatever it was that just happened," Asuka expressed.
Misato didn't like it, either. Whatever happened had to have involved Unit-01, the only Evangelion that was on Shinji's hit list of whatever it was that troubled him here. She didn't blame him for hating it; it had cost him much of everything right now, down to, as she had to have suspected ever since his return after the last Angel attack, a great measure of his own sanity. If he wanted to be free from it, the method he chose was probably the best one he knew of.
"They don't deserve him, anymore," his pride had said. "They never deserved him to begin with. And now…they will answer for their sins in full."
What sins did they commit to no longer deserve him? She wondered as they retreated back to the command center.
To be continued…
A/N: What did you think about the fall of the father at the hands of his son's desires? And as for Shinji's sloth, she needed her moment to show that, despite her lack of interests, she is dedicated to freeing Shinji as much as her siblings are, putting her power to work. I want to hear from each of you. Let me know. See ya in the next chapter.
