Hi Readers: Before we begin, I want to apologize for restarting this story once more. However, I just didn't feel like I had the story headed in the right direction from the start, which is crucial if you want to write a good story. Hopefully, you like this version better.

Chapter One
He's Grieving Alone

October 5, 2012 – Alexandra Jacobs' Condo, Chicago
Never in a million years did Christie Casey Jordan think that she'd be here, at the home of her Miss Alexandra Jacobs; but it was where she needed to be at the moment. She needed to be here, due to the fact that she had to put what her brother did to the side, especially now in his time of need. Time where he needs to have someone that he can trust with him. And it turned out that woman was his mistress. Yes, you just heard that right. Christie Casey Jordan was currently in the midst of walking up to the home of her brother Matthew Casey's mistress. Then again, it's not like it's something new in this family; not when their own father had a child outside of the confines of marriage vows. She's just glad that they aren't part of their lives right now. They haven't exactly dealt with the situation, nor do they know how; but if there was one thing Christie knew, it was that she needed her brother to face it. And right now, her brother most certainly was not here to help her as he was grieving his loss at the moment; a loss that was pretty serious.

But just what loss might she be talking about? Well, that would be the loss of his late wife, Dr. Hallie Thomas; and boy did she wish that she spoke to her brother recently. According to some of his best friends (their names are Andrew Darden and Kelly Severide) the past year of their marriage has been hell. First, they dealt with a miscarriage right before Christmas last year, then she cheated on him in January, which led to an unofficial separation and was ultimately going to lead to a divorce, something that her brother has been advising her to get for years due to the fact that he doesn't think that her husband is good enough for her. But right now, she's not thinking about herself; instead, she was thinking about her brother and what he needs. And that's why she's here right now, at his girlfriend's home, because that's what she has to be now. If there was one thing that she knew, she couldn't use the m-word (mistress) around her; or else she may not want to talk to her and deal with her at the moment. At least, she hopes he'll talk to her.

And while she was apprehensive to do so, she ended up knocking on the door as that was what she needed to do at the moment. She needed to knock on the door so that she could be let in and talk to this woman, with the hopes of convincing her that she needs to help her brother. And luckily for her, she was home as she soon opened the door. "Oh, Ms. Casey-Jordan." The businesswoman could clearly see that the woman was nervous to be in her presence, especially when she's in the privacy of her condo. "I hope this isn't a bad time." Alex shook her head. "No, please. Come in." Christie agreed with Alex as she said that, before walking in as she opened the door; after which, Alex smiled at her boss. "I hope everything is okay. I was just about to work out, I know that you said that you wanted me to loose a few pounds when it came to the next shoot." Christie then realized why her employee said that, as she thought that she was here on business; in her role as the President and Deputy CEO of Casey Apparel, a company which her brother owns.

You see, her brother is no ordinary man. Rather, he is a businessman and the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of their family company, The Casey Group. Meanwhile, she is the President and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Casey Apparel; a subsidiary of the company, for which Miss Jacobs works for. "Alex. Can I call you Alex?" Alex then turned her head as she stood in the kitchen, a little taken aback as to why her boss would call her by her nickname. "Ma'am, is everything okay?" Christie sighed. "Alex, let me be frank. I want you to take a breath and just relax for me. I can promise you right now that I am not here as Ms. Casey Jordan. I am here as Matt's sister, who is well aware of the secret relationship that the both of you have been having behind the late Ms. Hallie Thomas' back." Alex got nervous as she heard Christie say that, starting to get worried. "Now, I am going to sit down in your living room; and we are going to speak. Not about business, but as two women who care deeply for my brother." Alex agreed with Christie.

After all, if there was something that Christie had to know; it was that she cared deeply for her brother. However, that doesn't mean that he can use his sister to get back into her good graces. "If Matt thinks that he can use his sister to get back into my good graces, after he ghosted me for the past month; god, and he doesn't even have the nerve to do it himself. Then you need to send him a message, that I'm done with him." Christie sighed as she heard Alex say that, as that was the worst possible news that she could hear; especially when she had news for Alex. "Alex, that's why I'm here. I'm here so that I can give you some information." Turning her head, Alex got worried when she heard Christie say that; after which she proceeded to get them some water as she was starting to get worried. After all, she does love Matt and that will never change, which is the precise reason why she just felt it in her heart that she needed to hear his sister out; because if she came here due to the fact that she's worried about Matt, then that concerns her too.

Sitting in her living room with her boyfriend's sister, Alex took a breath due to the fact that she needed to ask her boss a question before anything; and that question would be how she knew. "Ma'am…" Christie laughed. "Oh please, just call me Christie. You've seen my brother naked, which pretty much makes us family. Well, in private of course. At work it's still Ms. Casey." Alex agreed with Christie as she said that, well aware that was the case. "OK. This just turned awkward, but uhm. Christie, do you mind if I ask what you're doing here today? I'm pretty sure that Matt is making himself pretty clear that we're over, so I have no idea why you're here." Christie sighed as she heard Alex say that, as it was clear to her that she wasn't up to date. "Alex, can I ask you if you've read the news lately?" Alex sighed. "I have been doing a social media and news detox to try and get your brother out of my system. He's clearly happy in his marriage." Christie sighed, as that was not at all the truth. "Alex, Hallie died a couple weeks ago." Alex was in shock as she heard that.

How in the world did she not hear that. "Wait, what…" Christie nodded as Alex asked her whether she was telling the truth. "She died in a tragic car accident a few weeks ago." Alex then got worried, as that was the last time she spoke to Matt. "Wait, when was the funeral?" Christie bit her lip. "It was the 15th of September." Alex then proceeded to grab her phone so that she could see something, which would be the last text that she got from Matt. That text message? 'I need space, explain when I'm in a better place.' The date she received it? The night of September 15th, mere hours after the funeral. "Matt texted me that day, he told me that he needed space. I just thought he sent it to me as I guess he thought I was still intruding in his marriage." Christie agreed with Alex, as she could understand how she could've interpreted the text message that way. "My brother sent me the same text. However, he added on where he went." Alex agreed with Christie as she said that. "So, he's not even in Chicago right now?" Christie shook her head.

As he was not in Chicago, but in Hawaii. "He's in Hawaii. Been there for a couple weeks." Alex agreed with Christie as she said that, especially since it was all starting to make sense now. "I remember when we went there for a shoot once, it was so desolate and calm." Christie agreed with Alex as she said that, as that most certainly is the truth. "That's exactly why he went there. He went there so that he could take it easy and have some piece and quiet. I mean, he's still working a bit; but not as much." Alex agreed with Christie as she said that, before biting her lip. "God, I am so sorry that I didn't even know." Christie shook her head as she has no need to apologize. "You have nothing to apologize for Alex. And if you still feel the need to apologize, then you can do so by being there for Matt." Alex was confused as she heard Christie say that. "Wait, what? Are you saying that you want me to go to Hawaii?" Christie agreed with Alex, as that was precisely what she was saying. "He'll never admit it to himself, but he needs you." Alex agreed with Christie.

After all, he brother is quite stubborn at times. "He's a stubborn one at times." Christie just shook her head as she heard Alex say that. "You missy are not allowed to say anything when it comes to how he's stubborn!" Alex laughed. "God, you should see him when it comes to pillows. He needs to have the perfect one to sleep." Christie agreed with Alex as she said that. "OK. That's all I want to know when it comes to my brother in bed." Alex laughed as she heard Christie say that, well aware that was the case. "Oh, you don't want to know…" Christie then put her hand up. "Shut up, before I take away your next lingerie shoot." Alex laughed. "Not too sure Matt would be happy about that, considering he loves it." Christie agreed with Alex as she said that, as that makes sense now. "That makes sense why he takes so much interest in your pictures. Okay, now how about you pack so that you can get out of here tonight." Alex was confused as she heard Christie say that. "Wait, what?" Christie smiled. "You're taking the private jet to Hawaii." Alex was shocked.

I mean, the private jet? "What?" Christie agreed. "Alex, it's the fastest way to get you there. Like I said, my brother needs you." Alex agreed with Christie as she said that, well aware that she did tell her that. "That you did." Christie smiled as she heard Alex say that. "So, you're going to leave today so that you can go help him out; it's for the best that you get out of here. And I am telling you to stay there as long as he needs you." Alex smiled. "Is that an order from my boss? Or a favor to his sister?" Christie smiled as Alex asked her that, getting close to her before hugging her. "You have no idea how much it means to me that you're going to go help him." Alex agreed with Christie as she said that, just holding her. "How is he, anyways?" Christie sighed. "Like I said, haven't been able to reach him. Not even sure where he is, other than I know he's at our home there." Alex agreed as she got up and thought about it. "What do I pack?" Christie smiled. "Your summer clothes." Alex looked at Christie. "How much do I pack?" Christie shrugged, as she didn't know.

I mean, who knows how long her brother might stay down there. "I have no idea how long my brother is going to stay there. Just make sure that you bring something that he can enjoy. He needs a distraction." Alex already knew what she was talking about, agreeing with her as that most certainly is something that she can do for Matt. She can be a great distraction. "And who knows, maybe marry him." Alex laughed. "Nice try, he just lost his wife." Christie shrugged. "Who knows what someone will do while they're grieving." Alex agreed with Christie as she said that, while walking away so that she can go pack up for her trip to Hawaii; where she plans on trying to make the man she loves feel better. Something that he clearly needs at the moment. And if he needed it, then she was going to be the one to give it to him for one simple reason; because she's madly in love with Mr. Matthew Casey, and would do anything to make sure that he was okay. Because at the end of the day, that's what you do for the people you love; you make sure that they're ok.
