Just a cute little idea I got, because I felt we needed some pets in the household. This is also for the people that wanted to see Marcel and Kol trying to get along.

When Elijah feels fur brushing against his skin, he assumes Hayley transformed. He swipes his hand at his face.

His eyes fly open at the sound of the tiniest mew.

In his direct line of vison are wide blue eyes paired with long, white whiskers.

"The bloody hell…"

He is careful with his movements as he reaches up his hand. The little creature startles and moves quickly across his face, scratching from one cheek to the next. Elijah screams out as he sits up. He rubs at the blood. The door to the bedroom swings open, with Hayley and Kol running in, still in their pajamas.

"What's wrong?!" Hayley rushes over, cupping his cheeks and examining the healing scratch.

"I think there's some sort of animal in here," Elijah says, looking around.

Kol vamps to the other side of the bed and lifts up a pillow. He quickly scoops up the creature and holds it close. Elijah pulls away from his wife, attempting to grab his son's arm.

"Kol, don't touch it! It could have a disease."

"She doesn't have a disease," Kol mutters.

Elijah pauses, tilting his head. Kol frowns, cuddling whatever it is and kissing the top of its head. Hayley folds her arms over her chest and raises a brow.

"Kol," she taps her foot. "What exactly do you have there?"

"Um…well, do you remember when I asked for a puppy and you said no?"

Hayley nods. "As I recall, your father and I told you that you aren't ready for the responsibility."

Kol squirms a little. "Yes, but that was a dog. And this…"

He gently moves his arms to reveal a tiny gray kitten, softly mewing and rubbing her head against his sweatshirt. Elijah gets out of bed so he's standing beside his son. Hayley stays put, eyes wide.

"You bought a kitten? Without asking?"

"What? Of course not!" Kol admonishes. "I would never use your money to buy something that you wouldn't approve of."

"The kitten had to come from somewhere."

Kol sighs, cradling the kitten. "I…found it."

Elijah scoffs. "You just magically found a kitten? When? Where?"

"A couple of weeks ago…"

Hayley cuts in. "You found a kitten a couple of weeks ago?! And hid it from us?"

"Wasn't too hard. I kept her in that guest room we never use. She was getting along just nicely with Marcel's…"

He trails off and cringes. Hayley tilts her head.

"What do you mean Marcel's?"

Kol fidgets. "I plead the fifth."

"Kol Andreas Mikaelson, are there two kittens in this house?" Kol gnaws on his lip, slowly backing away from Elijah. "Young man, you are digging an even deeper hole for yourself."

"Alright, alright!" Kol sighs once more. "Yes. As I said, we were hiding them in the guest room with a litter box, food and water. I guess somehow Nugget escaped."

Hayley and Elijah exchange a long, silent look. Kol continues cuddling and cooing at his kitten. The room is quiet for several minutes and he doesn't dare to say a word. Finally, his father speaks up.

"Go get Klaus and Caroline. We need to have a chat with the boys."

Kol can feel his nephew glaring at him as they sit on the couch in the living room.

"You weren't supposed to say anything," he grumbles.

"It slipped out!" Kol snaps back. "Besides, once they found out about Nugget, they were bound to discover Shadow."

Klaus appears with Elijah, Hayley and Caroline. All four have matching disappointed looks on their faces, arms crossed over their chests. Kol bites his lip.

"Where are Nugget and Shadow?"

"Rebekah and Matt are tending to them at the moment," Caroline says. "I cannot believe the two of you named them."

"Forget naming them," Klaus argues. "Why in the world did you two think it was a good idea to hide felines?"

"Because we didn't think we'd get caught?" Kol suggests.

Klaus rolls his eyes. "Kittens do not stay small forever. At one point, you wouldn't be able to keep them quiet or behind a closed door."

"How did this even happen?" Hayley asks.

Marcel grumbles. "You kept encouraging us to do things together. So, Kol took me for a walk around the property. We were by the woods when we found them. There was no mother in sight."

"We looked for a long time," Kol added. "But they were old enough to be weaned."

"And you know this because…" Elijah trails off, raising a brow.

"I may have taken them to the vet." His parents look at him curiously. "Well, Marcel isn't allowed to leave the house alone and I wanted to make sure they weren't sick. Anyway, the vet thinks they're at least a couple of months old. He gave them any shots they'd need. But overall, they're healthy."

The four adults try to hide how impressed they are. Elijah takes a step forward.

"How did you pay for all of this?"

"Marcel's credit card," Kol says.

Klaus tilts his head at his son. "The one I told you that you weren't to use while you're grounded?"

"It's my money," Marcel grumbles.

"And you agreed that I would become the overseer." Klaus shakes his head. "How long did you think you could keep this from us?"

"Well, we figured at least until I wasn't grounded anymore and was allowed to go home," Marcel said. "By then, they'd be bigger and Shadow would go with me. I personally don't care what happens with Kol and Nugget."

Kol rolls his eyes. "Thank you so much, Dear Nephew. Glad you threw me under the bus."

Marcel's smirk doesn't last long once Caroline speaks. "You should have asked us about this first, Marcellus."

"I knew you'd say no, because Aunt Hayley and Uncle Elijah don't want animals in the house."

"Exactly. And that is a choice that they made."

Kol and Marcel lean back against the couch in synch. It's their turn to fold their arms over their chests, pouts coming across their faces. Klaus bites his lip, seeing the sorrow in his son's eyes. Elijah fidgets as well. He is not one to give into Kol's puppy dog eyes, but today…

"They've been keeping this from us for weeks," Hayley's voice butts in.

"I know, darling, but they have been taking very good care of them," Elijah points out. "I do not approve of the sneaking around, but clearly Kol is responsible."

Klaus raises a brow. "Wow, Brother. Who knew you had such a soft spot?"

Elijah rolls his eyes. "Do not get used to it."

Kol knows better than to get his hopes up. He looks at his mom, her face still cross. Kol hops up off the couch and walks over to her, wrapping his arms around her waist. He looks up at her with his wide puppy dog eyes and pouts.

"I'm sorry, Mama," he says, using his best little boy voice.

Hayley studies his face. Kol sees her features cracking slightly. "Kol…"

"I love you."

He kisses her cheek. Marcel hops up off the couch and walks over to Caroline, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. His step-mother shakes her head.

"You are not cute-ing your way out of this one," she says.

Marcel lets out a dramatic sigh, looking at his papa. Klaus frowns and vamps over, kissing the top of his son's head. Caroline holds back a giggle.

"If only people could see this. Our supposed Prince of New Orleans, pouting at his Big Bad Hybrid Daddy to get his way…and the Big Bad Hybrid falling for it!"

Kol continues to cuddle against his mom and use his baby voice. She shakes her head, scooping him up in her arms.

"I am going to remember this the next time you complain that I treat you like a little boy," she says, tapping his nose.

Kol chuckles. "Does that mean I can keep Nugget?"

Hayley looks at Elijah. The original vampire walks over, rubbing Kol's back. The parents have a full conversation only using their eyes.

"Fine," Hayley says. Kol beams. "But, she is your responsibility. You're cleaning out the litter box, feeding her, cleaning up any messes."

"Yes, Mama, I promise! Thank you!" He kisses her cheek and looks up at Elijah. "Thank you, Daddy."

Elijah smiles, ruffling his hair. "You're welcome, my Little Prince. But this kitten is it. No more hiding animals, or you're going to find yourself in a lot of trouble."

He glances over at Klaus, who is pouting nearly as much as Marcel is. Caroline shakes her head, throwing her hands up in the air.

"Fine, we can keep the stupid cat, but the same rules that Hayley just said apply." She rolls her eyes as Klaus and Marcel kiss her own each cheek. "Marcel, do this again, and you'll end up over my knee."

"Yes, ma'am," Marcel says sweetly.

She glances at Klaus. "You break far too easily."

Klaus chuckles. "How am I to say no to this face?" He squeezes Marcel's cheeks, causing his son to squirm a bit.

Kol holds his arms out to his dad, resting his head on Elijah's shoulder once he takes him. Hayley is still shaking her head, though her smile is wide.

"And here I thought I'd have to keep yelling at Klaus about the spoiling," she muses.

Elijah shrugs. "He's been a very good boy lately, we can allow one kitten." He kisses the top of Kol's head.

I felt it could've gone either way with Kol getting to keep Nugget. I know Elijah is usually the strict one, but Kol appeals to his soft side. There was never a doubt that Marcel was getting to keep Shadow. Once he pouted at Klaus, it was game over.

Caroline and Hayley deserve a medal for all the crap they have to put up with haha.

Anyway, feel free to leave prompts!
