"I want your media contacts to set the narrative that Isabella and I broke up a month ago, but we remain good friends. Hence, she graciously visited Dad's funeral as a friend," I said.

Emmett glared at me.

"Why don't we set the narrative that you realized that she'd not good enough to be queen of this country. She lacks class and elegance." He said, "How does that sound?"

I knew he was trying to get a reaction from me, but I wasn't going to give him one.

"I didn't ask for your opinion," I said, "I'm just telling you to do as I say."

"Don't give me that look," he said, "It's not going to work on me."

Oh well, at least it was working with everyone else!

"I want to have the narrative ready before everyone starts with the rumors when they would notice her absence at my coronation," I said.

"What are you trying to do, Edward?" he sighed, "Why did you break up with her? Do you even realize what you have done?"

"It's... personal." I said.

I did what needed to be done.

I did what was best for both of us.

I took the decision on her behalf.

I made it easy for her.

"Hey baby... What's up?" I asked her as I made a video call to her as soon as I woke up.

"Jess is here..." she smiled, "We're having a girls' night out!"

"Oh nice!" I smiled, "I will call you tomorrow then."

"That's fine! We can talk!" she said, "How is your Dad doing?"

"Ummm... Not improving," I said, "But we can talk tomorrow. That's fine."

"I think you guys can talk. I'll go out." I heard Jessica say.

"Hi Jessica," I said.

"Hello..." she said, "I will give both of you privacy for some time."

"No, that's fine," I said, "I can call later."

"No... I'll leave," she said, which was followed by, "Oh no!"

"Shit!" Isabella said, "Jess spilled the wine on the floor. I will talk to you later, baby!"

She dropped her phone on the bed, pointing to the ceiling.

"No, I'll do it. You go talk to your prince," she said.

"Shut up," Isabella said, "You completely ruined my carpet."

I chuckled and shook my head. I was about to end the call when I heard Jessica saying something.

"I can't believe you're having doubts about him. He seems sweet." she said.

'Having doubts about him'?

"Shut up!" Isabella said.

"What? I'm being serious," Jessica said, "If I were in place of you, I'd have left everything for him."

Should I continue to eavesdrop?

Maybe not!

"It's not that easy," Isabella said, "You guys don't understand! Even Mom is asking me, "Is he worth all the baggage that comes with him"? Is the answer a yes or a no? Well, it's not that easy!"

I pressed the mute button and instead of the hangup, so that they couldn't notice that I was still there.

I needed to hear this conversation!
