"He ended it just like that," I cried.
"Isabella..." Mom hugged me, "Come on, sweetie! You're stronger than this. Everything happens for a reason! There must be better plans for you ahead!"
"He had told me he was never going to leave me," I cried harder, "But he betrayed me."
"Please don't do this." I said, "I love you."
"I know that." he said, "Love is not the problem."
"So what is the problem?" I asked, "Is it because I couldn't be with you in your tough times? I'm not a God!" I said incredulously, "You should have told me that you needed me! I swear, I would have come here. I had asked you to call me any time if you were feeling lonely. I was always there for you!"
"I did call you multiple times when I was having sleepless nights... But you were busy..." he said.
"I was working!" I said in disbelief, "Edward... You're making me feel bad for working! Whenever I couldn't talk, I was just working!"
"I'm not making you feel bad about anything. I'm just stating the facts as they are. You said I should have called you if I was feeling lonely. I'm just saying that I did that." He said calmly.
"Edward..." I said as I cried again, "What's gotten into you?"
"Nothing," he said.
"You're going to be just like your Dad!" I said.
I was afraid he was already like him!
"Maybe." He said.
"You had agreed to give me four years to do my job!" I said.
"And then the circumstances changed," he said, "It demands some changes in the plans."
"So basically you wanted me to leave everything behind after your Dad's diagnosis, right?" I said.
"No... I wanted you to rethink if you really want to be part of this... But you never got back to me," he said.
"Because I need some time to think!" I said.
"I think I've given you enough time," he said.
"You have given me enough time?" I looked at him with disbelief, "I don't think so."
"I'm sorry if you feel like that," he said.
"So we're ending just like this?" I said.
I was still in shock.
"Yes," he said.
