The two women were excited to show everyone the new Eva. However, the amethyst-haired woman wanted to surprise the others. She knew that Loki would already know. He seemed able to know what she was thinking even without his powers.
"JARVIS," Wanda said, "tell everyone in the compound that Eva has something to show them and to go to the main living space please."
"Of course, Miss Maximoff," the computerized voice said.
The women made their way down and heard the men walk in. Eva started to get nervous, but Wanda assured her that everything would be fine. Then, Wanda went out first.
"Hey!" she announced in a giddy tone. "Evelyn's got a surprise!"
Loki put on a smile, already knowing what had happened but still wanting to see the results, he said, "I can't wait."
Eva appeared in the doorway to the stairs with an excited yet nervous smile, saying, "Hey, everyone."
The whole turned to look at her. Almost every face lit up with a smile when they saw her new hair. It was Steve's face that worried her. She stared at him, waiting for his opinion the most.
"You look amazing!" Clint said.
Bucky laughed as he replied, "That's definitely you."
Tony gave her a warm and proud smile as he responded, "Definitely fitting in now."
Loki nodded his head. They didn't need words anymore to express everything they needed to. Thor took a minute to understand that it was Eva's hair she was showing off, but when he got it, he smiled and commended her on her style.
However, Steve said, "Um…"
"Stevie?" she asked, dread filling her. "Is something wrong?"
This was a mistake! Eva thought. It's too much! I knew I should have gone with a natural color! Steve saw the panic in her eyes. She always worried about what he thought most. But how could she doubt his feelings for her? He knew the reason, but this was Eva's night and SHE wasn't going to be a part of it.
Steve walked right up to Eva, his expression holding all the adoration he had for her, and answered, "I love it. You look beautiful."
Relief swept through Eva and she laughed while saying, "You had me worried, Captain."
"You'll always be beautiful to me. I love you, Evelyn."
"I love you, too, Stevie."
His voice was almost hushed, but Eva still heard him. "I'd like to kiss my girl, if that's okay?"
Eva let out a small, nerve-riddled chuckle. "Stevie-"
"I won't push you into anything that makes you feel-"
To shut him up, Eva lunged forward. Her hands went to his shoulders to steady herself. When she pulled back, she chuckled again at the surprise on Steve's face. She placed a hand on his now clean-shaven cheek.
"Right now," she said with a smile, "I'm okay."
Those words sounded so beautiful the Steve. He pulled her to him and kissed her hard, full of hunger.
It had been nearly three months since she was rescued, and he always asked to touch her in any way. He couldn't push her, knowing it could trigger something. It would kill him to be part of her pain. And it had been almost two years since he had worshipped her as she deserved all because of HER.
Now, she was back in his arms, safe and sound, and he had to show her what she meant to him… so long as he didn't push too hard.
