Kagome nearly sagged in relief. "You're a teacher?"
"You are surprised?"
She waved her hands. "No, no. It's just one less thing I have to deal with, so thank you." A principal's plate was always fuller than anyone realized, and Kagome made a habit of emphasizing this by always being available for students and staff alike.
She'd also never expected a daiyoukai of his calibre to take up something as human as archery. Youkai were much more likely to rely on their own powers, leaving the tactile chores and talents to the human side of society.
Taisho stepped away again, this time to model a successful shot. She hadn't even realized he was carrying his own bow until he got into position, the team staring in awe before erupting into cheers when he landed a perfect bullseye.
"Wow!"
"Not even Hojo-sensei gets it on the first try!"
"Now you really should date him, Higurashi-sensei!" A pair of wolf twins smothered Shippou's face, the rest of the team shaking their heads. Curiosity aside, she was grateful when Taisho pulled the kit aside, reprimanding him sternly before they both returned to the floor. Shippou silently approached her, then bowed low, his apology sincere.
"Perhaps you should spend more time focusing on your aim instead of trying to set me up on dates," she advised.
The kit blushed, then nodded, scampering away to the set of spent arrows, forced to spend the rest of practice sharpening and restringing them for his teammates. Kagome met Taisho's gaze from across the room and tilted her head in gratitude.
