Driving a Vampire, who seemed to be interested in her Little Sister, to the Grill, so that said Little Sister could hang out with her Friends and reintroduce Elena to them, as well as introduce Stefan to them, was not something that Elena was pleased about.
Even worse, as soon as they walked into the Grill, everyone's attention seemed to have turned to them. The first person who came up to them was a blonde haired, blue eyed teen who introduced himself as Matt to Stefan.
"Hey."Matt said softly with an odd look in his eyes as he looked at Katie.
"Hey."Katie greeted Matt warmly as a few other teens came over to them."You guys remember my Older Sister; Elena."Katie gestured to Elena, who gave them a small smile and wave."Elena, this is Matt Donovan, Tyler Lockwood, Caroline Forbes, and Bonnie Bennett."Katie said, gesturing to every member of the group one by one as she introduced them to Elena.
"Wow, you lot sure have grown up."Elena said weakly, although it got a laugh out of everyone.
A few minutes later, Elena found herself sitting in between Bonnie and Caroline at a table with Katie and Stefan while Tyler and Matt were playing Pool, listening to them talk.
"So, you were born in Mystic Falls?"Caroline asked, looking interested.
"Mm-hm."Stefan nodded."I moved when I was still young."
"Parents?"Caroline questioned him.
"My Parents passed away."Stefan said softly, glancing away from the group of girls.
Elena could hear little to no ounce of sadness or pain in his voice, which could either mean that his parents actually passed away when he was actually young, or he outlived them, or worse case scenario, he killed them with no remorse.
Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw the way Bonnie's eyes narrowed as she looked between Katie and Stefan, and got the feeling that the black haired girl was probably thinking that the duo would understand each other and grow close, which was something that Elena didn't want to happen.
"I'm sorry."Katie said, as if she understood what Stefan was going through, which she did, and Stefan nodded in thanks."Any Siblings?"
"None that I talk to."Stefan answered in a way that had Elena's worry grow bigger that there might be another Vampire in town, which she certainly hoped was not the case."I live with my Uncle."
"So, Stefan, if you're new, you don't know about the party tomorrow."Caroline said, trying to draw Stefan's attention away from Katie, which Elena was thankful for, but at the same time, felt guilty about.
"It's a back to School thing at the Falls."Bonnie added in her two cents.
"Are you going?"Stefan asked, looking back at Katie.
Elena silently gritted her teeth, wishing she could just give him the worst type of Aneurysm that not even allow his Healing Abilities to kick in fast enough and he would pass out from the intensity of the pain.
"Of course she is."Bonnie spoke up before Katie could say anything, with a wide smile in Katie's direction.
Elena cleared her throat, causing everyone to look at her."Uh, I don't recall you asking Jenna or telling me about going to this so called back to School thing."Elena stated dryly, causing Bonnie to wince, and Caroline and Stefan frowned in unison, while Katie looked at Elena in shock.
"Are you saying I can't go?"Katie asked, blinking owlishly.
"Well, I'm not saying no, because technically, I'm not your Guardian, but I'm sure that it would be nice for Jenna to be informed that you'll be out again tomorrow night and not fret when she realises that you're missing."Elena explained herself."And also, Bonnie, you shouldn't say she's going to this get together without her knowing if she's allowed to go or if she actually wants to go or not. That's called peer pressure."Elena scolded Bonnie, who bowed her head.
"Sorry."Bonnie said softly, looking at Katie with guilt in her eyes.
"It's ok, Bonnie."Katie easily forgave the black haired girl."And I'm sure Jenna won't mind, or you for that matter, right Elena?"Katie asked Elena, who sighed silently."I mean, didn't you go to these back to School things in LA?"She added as an after thought.
"I guess..."Elena admitted, shrugging and Katie smiled as she looked back at Stefan, who smiled back at her as she pushed some of her hair behind her ear.
"You went to School in LA?"Stefan suddenly asked, changing the subject as he looked back at Elena.
"Yeah... I, uh, got into an argument with my Parents when I was younger and they decided to ship me off to Boarding School in LA."Elena lied calmly and Stefan blinked owlishly, looking at her in surprise, while Bonnie, Caroline, and Katie shared a look, without Stefan noticing, wondering how Stefan didn't know who Elena was, since her face had been all over news months back.
Elena, after offering the girls and Stefan a ride home, which Bonnie and Caroline agreed too, while Stefan declined, which Elena was grateful for, since she didn't want to spend anymore time with Stefan then she wanted to, plopped down on the couch as soon as she and Katie got home.
Putting her feet up, Elena grabbed the newspaper while Katie headed upstairs, most likely going to bed after saying goodnight, which Elena replied to.
As soon as Elena saw the headline of the newspaper, she shot up into a sitting position and quickly read through it, growing more concerned and worried as she read the disturbing details of the incident that had occurred last night.
Getting to her feet, Elena darted for the front door to grab her keys, and left the house, without a second thought of even telling anyone who was home that she was going out, with the intention of going to see Stefan and getting to the bottom of this, and maybe kill him.
"Hi, it's Zach Salvatore, right?"Elena asked as soon as the door opened to reveal a young man, most likely in his late 20's to early 30's.
"Uh, yeah... Elena, right?"He answered with a question of his own.
"Yep. Is Stefan here?"Zach's eyes narrowed."I'll take that as a yes. I need to talk to him."Elena stated and before the man could ask why, she shoved the newspaper in his chest.
After Zach looked at the first page, confusion before panic and anger appeared in his eyes."I, uh, this-Don't bother. I know about the Supernatural and that Stefan isn't your Nephew, but is most likely your Great Uncle of a Vampire. Let me in."Elena said cryptically and demanded to be let inside.
Most likely out of shock, and still some anger that was directed at Stefan, Zach let the younger woman inside and closed the door before following her up the stairs to the room Stefan was in.
Opening the door without knocking, Elena saw Stefan, who had just put a top on, and looked at her in confusion before looking at Zach questionably, and noticed he was holding a newspaper up in his hands for Stefan to see.
"You promised."Zach said before Elena could say anything.
She decided to let him do the talking, for now, and simply stood back with her arms crossed and eyes narrowed as Zach walked over to Stefan, who took the newspaper and skimmed through it.
"This was an animal attack."Stefan stated after seeing the headline.
"Don't give me that. I know the game."Zach stated."You tear them up, they suspect an animal attack."He explained."You said you had it under control."
"And I do."Stefan retorted."It's her you should be worried about."He added, pointing an Elena and Zach glanced at her in confusion."She's a Werewolf."
Zach turned to look back at Elena with wide eyes."How...?"
"I'm adopted."Elena stated."My Birth Mother was a Werewolf, and before you ask, no, Katie isn't a Werewolf either. She's fully Human and knows nothing of the Supernatural World that the Founding Families have kept hidden from this Generation."Elena explained, trying to be as cryptic as possible about Katie, knowing fully well that all of the Founding Families knew that both she and Katie were Adopted, and that no one had the right to tell Katie."Also, the Full Moon was on Friday, idiot, not Sunday."Elena snapped at Stefan.
Now that Zach no longer suspected her, he turned back to Stefan."Please, Uncle Stefan, Mystic Falls is a different place now."Stefan looked back at Zach."It's been quiet for years, but there are people who still remember, and you being here,"Zach shook his head at Stefan."it's just gonna stir things up."
"That's not my intention."Stefan said.
"Then what is? Why did you come back after all this time? Why now?"Zach questioned him, demanding an answer.
"I don't have to explain myself."Stefan said sharply, causing Zach to look at him in disbelief.
"I know that you can't change what you are. But you don't belong here anymore."Zach said truthfully.
"Where do I belong?"Stefan asked him.
"I can't tell you what to do. But coming back here was a mistake."Zach said, as if saying that even letting Stefan back into the Salvatore Household was a mistake, before he threw the newspaper article on the coffee table and turned to Elena."I don't wanna know why you came back either, but I'll keep this a secret."He said and after eyeing him critically for a full minute, Elena nodded and watched him leave the room before turning back to Stefan.
"You might not have to explain yourself to him, but you sure as hell gotta explain yourself to me."Elena stated as she stormed up to Stefan and glared at him, her eyes turning yellow."What do you want with Katie."
Stefan stared at her calmly."I just want to get to know her."
"Why?"Elena demanded, not liking the short answer.
"She reminds me of someone."Another short, and cryptic, answer but Elena's eyes, which had returned to normal, widened in realisation.
"Katherine Pierce."Elena breathed out.
Now Stefan's eyes were wide."How did you...?"He trailed off questionably.
"That's none of your business, but what you should know is that Katie isn't Katherine and she never will be."Elena growled out, feeling inhuman rage bubbling under her skin, and of course, the over protectiveness of being a Big Sister wanting to keep their Little Sister safe."So, if you're gonna use her as some sort of replacement for your old flame,"Elena spat the word old flame like it was poison."I suggest you leave Mystic Falls and keep your mouth shut about two girls looking like exact copies of Katherine Pierce, unless you want Katie to die, and if that's the case, I might as well kill you myself."
Stefan looked at her, dumbfounded."What are you talking about?"
"Katherine was a lot older than you think she was, and she made a lot of enemies before she met you."Elena said cryptically before turning on her heels to leave."Goodnight, Bloodsucker."She spat over her shoulder and stormed out of the room and household altogether.
Getting back home, Elena quietly sneaked back up to her room and crawled onto her bed and laid on her back with her arm over her eyes. Biting her lip, Elena wondered what she could do to keep Katie away from Stefan without revealing the truth to her.
Hearing her phone go off, Elena, with her free hand, reached over to the bedside table, grabbed it, and answered the call without looking at the Caller ID.
"So, you're finally picking up the phone, huh?"
"Letty, I need help."Elena said, sounding weary.
"What's wrong? Where are you? Dom and I can-Slow down, tiger."Elena cut her off.
"I'm not in trouble. Not yet, at least. So you don't have to involve Dom."
"What's going on, Elena?"Letty asked, still worried and wondered if she needed to get Dom to listen in on their conversation without the brunette knowing.
"How do I keep my Baby Sister from getting involved with the Supernatural?"Elena asked bluntly and got a startled laugh out of the black haired woman.
"Oh shit, what the hell? I thought you were in serious trouble for a second."Letty stated, still laughing.
"This is serious, Letty."Elena said, sitting up, resting her back against the headboard.
"Ok, ok, how serious?"Letty said, getting herself under control.
"Vampire boy interested in Human girl serious."
"Oh, yikes..."Letty winced."Uh, huh, I got nothing."She bluntly admitted.
Elena groaned."So helpful, Letty, so helpful."She said dryly.
"Sorry I'm not an Older, protective, Sibling."Letty retorted and Elena rolled her eyes.
"You'd be the worst Older, protective, Sibling if you had any younger Siblings."Elena joked, a small smile forming on her lips.
"Hey! I'm plenty protective of you and Mia, ain't I?"Letty protested.
"You were pushing me in Dom's direction before I even became of legal age to date a guy who was five years older then me."Elena reminded her."And I know for a fact that you were rooting for Mia and Brian."She added and heard Letty snicker.
"Ok, fair point."Letty said, and shrugged even though Elena couldn't see it, she got the feeling that she did."Anyway, is it so bad that this Vampire is interested in your Baby Sister?"
"I wouldn't have minded if it was someone I knew, like one of the guys from LA, but this guy knew Katherine Pierce, in an intimate way."Elena explained and that was all she needed to say to get Letty on her side.
"Oh great. Why didn't you lead with that?"Letty asked rhetorically, her eyes narrowed."Do you want some back up?"
"Nah, just advice would be helpful."
"Kill and hide his body if he does something you don't like."Letty said bluntly.
Elena snorted."I don't like anything he does. If anything, the urge to kill him is very strong to the point I want to shift."
"Well, then just kill him and use that Spell that erases memories from peoples minds."
"Ugh, that Spell is Magical and physically draining."
"Welp, I'm out of ideas."
"Thanks anyway, Letty."
"Welcome, Sis..."Letty trailed off."Hey, listen, you might wanna give Dom a call before he decides to cross the border and come find you. He's really worried about you."Letty warned her, and silently promised her that she wouldn't tell Dom where Elena was, knowing that if he actually had that information, he'd cross the border within a heartbeat to bring her to where it would be safe for her, which was by his side.
"I know... I'll call him tomorrow, promise."Elena said softly, glancing out her window with a soft sigh."Night, Letty."
"Night, Elle."
"No."Elena said as Katie followed her into the living room the next night, about two hours after they had dinner.
"Please."
"Why?"
"Because you're a responsible adult, who owns a sweet ride and can be our designated driver."
"You shouldn't even be drinking in the first place."
Katie scoffed, rolling her eyes."Like you never drank as a teen?"She questioned Elena.
"Hey, I'm the one who made mistakes as a teen, you're supposed to be the one who learns from them and not make the same or similar mistakes as me."Elena shot back at her.
"You were never around for me to learn from said mistakes."Katie stated, pointing at her before smirking."Think of this as a way to make up for it."
"Ugh... Fine!"Elena exclaimed, standing up and throwing her hands up in the air."But, the moment I want to leave, I will leave, and you, Bonnie, Caroline will come willingly, no complaints or arguments, whatsoever, got it?"Katie nodded rapidly and hugged Elena, thanking her over and over again."I am so gonna regret this."Elena mumbled under her breath.
