A/N: TW FOR REFERENCES TO SEXUAL ASSAULT! Nothing actually shown, only mentioned.

Anyway yes Annie is here! And the villains too…

'Never meet your heroes' was a piece of advice Annie January had heard many times. Being young and naive, she hadn't taken it seriously.

After all, there was no way it applied to the Seven, right? They were legit heroes. They saved lives! They kept the country safe. It was Annie's childhood dream to be a part of such an amazing group. Everyone loved them.

And when her application got accepted? It was a dream come true. She was really becoming a member of The Seven. She was the luckiest girl on the earth. Annie - now proudly declared as Starlight - was here at last. She'd done it. She'd made it.

She could feel her electricity bubbling with excitement. She kept her calm - her emotions stirred it up, and she reallyyyy didn't want to blind anyone on her first day.

This is what I wanted. This is what I asked for. This is the best day ever!

That's what she thought, anyway. That was the last thought she had before The Deep had exposed himself to her in the worst way possible. Rape was the last thing she'd ever get to experience on her first day as a hero. But like a shark and prey, he'd taken advantage of her, and she felt sick to her stomach, sick with rage, and sleepy with pain.

This is what you asked for.

She wanted to kill him, hurt him at the least. Men like that shouldn't have been allowed to become heroes, let alone join the Seven. The fact that someone like him was labeled a hero at all…

She couldn't utter a word. He'd tricked her. She smiled through her tears. She couldn't let Mom see her cry, she'd been so proud. She lied through her teeth, saying it was perfect and everything she'd ever wanted and more. She cried alone.

It got only worse. Before suddenly disappearing, Translucent had been perving in the women's bathrooms. Oh, great. So Starlight couldn't even have basic fucking privacy. What a wonderful company. Not to mention Queen Maeve sneering at her.

This wasn't how it was supposed to go. Why was it like this? She could only hope it got better. But would it? She'd encountered Homelander once, he wasn't too bad, right? And then there was his sister, Victoria… The Twins, the two of them were called.

Victoria had smiled, patting Starlight on the head, before disappearing into the sun. Ok. Ok. That was fine. Not every hero sucked. Maybe Starlight could ignore what had happened. Maybe she could just try and be the best hero she could, despite everything awful.

(No, she couldn't. But she had no choice.)

Welp, as if the day wasn't enough of a shithole, she was forced to work alongside The Deep. You know what hurt the most? She actually used to like this guy. When she was in highschool, oh god - she had the biggest crush on him. What she wouldn't give to go back in time and tell her younger self the truth.

The two Supes made their way to the dock. It was a cool night, situated right beside a large warehouse. The water was dark, loosely reflecting the moon.

"Oh, wow, what a surprise," the Deep sneered. "A water crime. They only call me when there's trouble at a dock. Or a canal. A river. A lake. Fucking idiots. I could be doing so much more. But no, Vought just wants me to make my big pretty dives into the water and flash my fucking biceps for Instagram. I mean, sure, four million hits a day, but still, it's fucking demeaning."

Starlight didn't respond, keeping her arms crossed.

"What's your problem?" he asked her. "You've had that pissy look on your face all night."

The lights flashed around them.

"Is this about the other night again?" The Deep asked. "Cry me a fuckin' river, okay? I had my fair bit of shit when I first got here. You said you used to have a crush on me."

"You had no right - zero right to do what you did, you fucking asshole!" Starlight roared.

"Hey," he snapped, walking over to her, "you shut your fucking mouth."

"Or what?" she challenged. "You'll sic a grouper on me?"

"I'll tell everyone you're a psycho," he retorted. "I'll tell The Twins themselves."

"No you won't," Starlight narrowed her eyes. "You're just the fish guy. Everyone thinks you're a joke. I can't believe I fell for that crap."

The Deep shook his fist. "You fucking…"

"You touch me again," Starlight repeated, "and I will burn your eyes out. You understand me?"

Her eyes glowed, dangerously.

Before the Deep could respond, the two heard a crash from behind. A car skidded across the road, crashing into the warehouse.

"The hell?" The Deep asked, looking around.

There was a girl standing there. She was on the shorter side, with long, blonde hair tied into pigtails, a wide grin stretched across her face.

She was looking at Starlight. She gave her a wave, like they were friends. Starlight didn't know how to respond, so she just… stood there.

The Deep noticed her too. "Hey, ma'am, this area is-"

Suddenly, a large man dressed in black appeared, easily hoisting The Deep off his feet. The Deep cried out, but the man refused to let go.

Someone was standing behind Starlight. A guy in a gas mask and a black jacket. He had his hand around her throat.

"Get off me!" she shouted, her eyes glowing.

"Wait."

The voice belonged to a man with a large scar across his face.

"You let us go, now," Starlight threatened.

(Actually, she wouldn't be toooo upset if they roughed up the Deep a bit, but she supposed she had to be a good colleague, even if he wasn't.)

With ease, the huge man tossed The Deep aside. He crashed into a wall, his eyes closing. Starlight felt her own eyes glowing.

"Sorry in advance," the scarred man sighed.

Suddenly, a needle was in her arm. Then everything began to disappear…

Starlight opened up her eyes. She was lying in a small bed. The air was cool and thin, the walls icy and gray. Metal bars took the place of doors.

Where the fuck…

"She's awake!"

She jumped. It was that blonde girl again. She was wearing the same expression, giving Starlight a big, cheerful wave.

"You?!" Starlight demanded, feeling her eyes glowing. "What's going on?! Where am I?"

She looked around. It looked like she was in some kind of psycho's basement, judging by the weapons on the walls, and the jail cells.

"Calm down," another voice spoke. "We only want to talk."

The voice belonged to the scarred man. He was followed by the big guy and the guy in the mask.

"W… who are you?!" Starlight stammered.

"Isn't it obvious?" the scarred man smirked. "We're villains."
