On the ride back to camp Eliza did her best to pretend not to hear the pained whimpers coming from Alex.
As they got closer to Valley Forge, Eliza felt Alex's grip on her start to weaken,
"Are you still with me?" She asked. Alex hummed in confirmation, but Eliza could only just hear him. She let go of the reigns with one hand and took hold of Alex's arm. She was worried that he was close to passing out and that if he did, he would fall off the horse.
When they arrived back at camp, instead of leaving their horses at the stables, they rode straight to the medical tent.
"Hall!" Herc shouted as they came to a stop outside the tent. He dismounted his horse and scooped up a now unconscious John and carried him into the tent.
Eliza carefully pried Alex's hands from around her waist and she too dismounted her horse.
"Laf," She called, "Help, please," She nodded her head at Alex, who was still sat on her horse. Laf hurried over and helped Eliza lift him down. The two of them each wrapped one of his arms around their shoulders and led him inside after Herc and John. While Alex was still conscious, he was hardly with it, and he was stumbling with nearly every step.
They entered the tent to see John lying on one of the cots. Hall was bustling around him, while Herc was looking intently over his shoulder. The two of them looked up when Laf and Eliza dragged Alex in.
"Stick him on that bed," Hall ordered, pointing to the one next to John.
"Mr Mulligan, I can't do my job with you in the way,"
"Sorry," Herc muttered, taking a step back.
"His ribs seem to be the worst," Eliza said as they set Alex down,
"Thank you, Mrs Hamilton,"
"I don't know if they're bruised or cracked or broken but something is wrong,"
"I will do an assessment,"
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Laf asked, "Any medicine you want? Equipment?"
Herc had somehow made his way forward again and was hovering over Hall's shoulder once more.
"Ok, everybody out," Hall cried, "I can't work with all of you in here!"
Laf, Herc and Eliza all froze,
"Really?" Laf asked,
"Yes, really. Now all of you, out!"
The group all filed out of the medical tent, avoiding Hall's eye as best as they could. When they got outside Harrison, Hays and Darragh had all gone and so had all the horses.
"Herc and I have to go and give Washington our report," Laf said, "Will you be alright without us?"
Eliza sat down on the grass outside of the tent, "I'm just going to wait here for any news," she said.
Herc squeezed her shoulder, "I'll be back as soon as I can."
Eliza watched Laf and Herc walk off to HQ and then she was left alone with her thoughts.
It didn't take long for her thoughts to turn to Alex. What if Alex's wounds were infected? If they were, there wasn't much Hall could do for him. Alex would die. Alex couldn't die. She needed Alex more than anything in the world.
"Mind if I sit here?" Eliza looked up to see Harrison standing in front of her. She shook her head and scooted over to make room for him.
"Why are you here?" She asked as Harrison sat down,
"I came to see how Hamilton and Laurens were doing. I guess there's no news yet?"
Eliza shook her head again, "Hall kicked us all out," she said distantly, she could feel all her worries starting to creep back in again.
"He'll be Ok,"
Eliza snapped out of her thoughts and turned to look at Harrison, "Huh?"
"Hamilton. He's a fighter, he'll pull through,"
"Yeah," Eliza said weakly.
Harrison sighed and ran his hand over his face, "I owe you an apology Schuyler,"
"What? Why? No, you don't,"
"Yes, I do. I doubted your loyalty. I didn't trust that you weren't a British spy. I requested to come on the mission so that I could keep an eye on you,"
"It's Ok," Eliza said, "You're kinda meant to think that, it means I'm doing my job well,"
"I don't think you're a British spy anymore," Harrison said,
"Well, that's good,"
"I saw you when we found Hamilton, nobody could fake that, and if you're in love with Hamilton, you're not in league with the British,"
"Thank you, I appreciate that,"
"Although, being in love with Hamilton is a questionable choice in itself,"
Eliza smiled weakly and looked down at her hands. "I have something I need to say to you too," she said after a moment,
"You do?"
"Yes. Thank you for saving me, earlier in the tent with Alex,"
"Oh. You're welcome. I was just doing my job,"
"Still…Thank you,"
"Any news?"
Eliza and Harrison looked up to see Herc approaching them.
"No," Eliza replied.
Herc settled down on the grass on Eliza's other side, "Well it's not been very long," he said, squeezing Eliza's shoulder.
Before too long Laf joined them sitting outside the tent and they settled in for the long haul.

Eventually, after several hours, Hall emerged from the medical tent, "Both Hamilton and Laurens will make a full recovery," he announced, "Hamilton has broken ribs, several nasty bruises and cuts and has lost a fair amount of blood. Laurens has a dislocated shoulder, a fractured wrist, two broken fingers, three broken toes and a concussion,"
"Can we see them?" Eliza asked, jumping to her feet.
Hall sighed, "Ok, but please be quiet, I will kick you out if need be."
The group filed into the tent. Inside Alex and John were both awake and sat up in their beds. They were both covered in bandages and bruises, but they looked much better.
"Alex!" Eliza cried. She ran over to Alex and threw her arms around him,
"Ah," Alex let out a squeak of pain and Eliza instantly pulled away,
"Sorry!" She cried.
"Mrs Hamilton, please be careful," Hall called,
"Sorry." Eliza perched on the end of Alex's bed and took hold of his hand.
Laf and Herc made their way over to John while Harrison remained standing awkwardly in the entrance.
"How are you feeling?" Laf asked,
"Like I got beat up," John replied,
"You look like it too," Herc teased,
"Thank you for coming for us," John said,
Laf smiled, "Well we weren't going to leave you at the hands of the British."
The entrance to the tent was once more pushed aside and Washington walked in. He smiled at John and Alex, "I'm pleased to see you're both recovering," he said,
"I'll be back in HQ first thing tomorrow morning," Alex said.
Washington scoffed, "Not until Doctor Hall has cleared you for active duty,"
"Writing letters is hardly active duty,"
Washington glared at Alex, "Doctor Hall, what are your recommendations for Hamilton and Laurens?"
"They both need to be placed on medical leave effective immediately," Hall replied, "I would like to keep Laurens under observation for the next few days, but Hamilton is free to go home,"
Washington nodded, "Thank you Doctor," he turned to Eliza, "Then Lieutenant Colonel Schuyler, I release Alexander Hamilton into your care, until Doctor Hall deems him fit to return to active duty,"
Eliza smiled, "Thank you, Sir," she said, squeezing Alex's hand,
"I'm free to leave then?" Alex asked,
"You are," Hall confirmed.
Alex slowly got out of bed, leaning on Eliza for support. He made his way over to John's bedside, "You'll be alright?" he asked.
John smiled at him, "You heard Hall, I'll be fine. Go home, enjoy some time off," John looked past Alex to Eliza, "Make sure he actually takes some time off,"
"I will."
Alex and Eliza made their way out of the medical tent and off towards the stables,
"Ready to go home?" she asked,
Alex nodded, "Let's go."
A/N That's it for this one! I'm aiming to start posting the third and final part at the start of September.
In this story and the previous one, every named character, who isn't from the musical or history, is named after somebody from the Woman in the American Revolutions Wikipedia page. I just like the idea that outside of the main cast is a woman in disguise, Eliza's just the only one that got caught
