High above the firmament's ceiling, a serene and beautiful realm lay. God's domain, populated by these few selected chosen ones worth its eternal glory. It was a place so surreal for the living ones, completely incomprehensible. No war could ever reach heaven's gates; no disease would spread; no hunger would ever occur. In his timeless wisdom, God had planned the domain thoroughly, ensuring any sin could pierce through the holy barrier separating the mortal realm and heaven.

Nevertheless, God had seen the value in creating his angels. These invaluable units were blessed with near immortality, as their duty was to serve and protect the greatest of creations – the heavens. For that purpose alone, the eternal legions of demigods had been formed, marching forth when the call was heeded.

Numerous religions described these God's servants as creations of light, flawless. Yet, it was a lie thoughtfully planted into these beliefs to mask the harsh reality. After all, God's will rarely could be enforced without employing force.

"Evelynn, are you even listening?" a serene male's voice inquired.

"Of course not," Eve replied bluntly, tired. "You've repeated yourself more than a dozen times the past few days," she added, gazing at her speaker.

"Evelynn, you know that's important," the man's voice grew colder. "God wants us…"

"Allerin, you've told me that already," Evelynn stated, interrupting the man. "If there's nothing more to add, please stop. I won't be listening to the same phrase uttered over and over again," she informed, turning around to leave.

"Fine, do as you want, Evelynn," Allerin sighed heavily, giving up.

"I still wonder who has thought it was a good idea to promote you to a legion commander," the woman scoffed, walking off, not waiting for a response of any kind.

Even for an angel, Evelynn was difficult to deal with. Her beauty was sinful and lustful, which she regularly used to her advantage on every possibility. The long, straight, onyx-black hair was her trademark. It framed her aristocratic face, featuring kissable crimson lips almost always twisted in a mocking smirk. Yet, the most fascinating trait of hers was her eyes. These predatory-shaped orbs of molten gold could penetrate anyone, seemingly capable of looking into one's very soul.

The onyx-haired woman stormed through the boulevard, emitting a dark, cold aura that prevented the other angels from halting her. She wanted nothing more than to be alone - with her mind and guilt. But unfortunately, it was far from trivial to find such a place. Evelynn briefly considered descending onto the realm of living, yet it could have backfired.

It took the golden-eyed beauty a while to leave heaven's upper echelons behind. If she so desired and turned around, she could have seen the temples and barracks solely constructed for the angelkind in their eternal majesty. However, she could not have mustered any care for all of this. Even though her servitude granted her many benefits, it stripped her of her free will and ability to decide. What God gave them was a painful illusion that blinded many of her peers. After all, bathing in his endless glory and power must have been a dream coming true for many. Sadly, the onyx-haired woman could not name herself one of them.

For a moment, Evelynn almost believed that her disappearance would not be reported, allowing her to venture somewhat freely. However, a glance over the horizon depraved her from these foolish semblances. For High Exarch's silhouette hovered between the puffy clouds, nearing too fast for Eve's comfort. Considering her relationship with Kyle, it would be anything but a pleasant encounter. With no options to choose from, the golden-eyed angel sighed heavily before standing tall and proud.

It took but a moment for heaven's champion to close the distance between them. Yet, for Evelynn, it had felt like an entire century. Even though there was no companionship between them, there was an aspect that the golden-eyed angel admired in Kyle – her determination.

"Evelynn," the Exarch whispered, but for the onyx-haired woman, it was louder than a storm's thunder. "I heard about your disagreement with Commander Allerin – care to explain?" Kyle continued with her serene tone, but disappointment lingered behind the perfectly stoic façade.

"Can we stop acting as if we were in the school?!" Eve inquired, opting for her boldness to lead this conversation. "We're both adults. I'd expect a grain of salt not to be an issue in a conversation," she said, trying her hardest not to falter before her superior.
