Pain.

Pain was the only thing that the Returner felt as it's eyes popped open to see nothing but shrouded darkness as it's body began to shake violently on the surface he layed upon.

The returner couldn't mutter a single sound, almost as if someone took out he's throat, and the darkness felt that someone had stole its eyes from him. It's body couldn't recognize the surface he layed upon. He couldn't tell if it was dirt, gravel, or concrete. But he knew he was in some surface.

He couldn't reach he's senses, he was disconnected from he's surroundings, as if everything was now foreign to him, he's perception now considered utterly worthless.

But as he felt more and more detached from he's own body. The pain began to intensify, it beared a sensation that couldn't be ignored in any capacity. The Returner couldn't even describe it in any shape or form. It just kept getting worse and worse each time, almost as if he's body was rejecting him in every conceivable way.

But as sudden the pain came, it suddenly vanished. And in its place, he felt something rushing up through he's throat and attempting to leave through its mouth. But something was blocking it, something was preventing the thing to leave through its mouth. Pain began to emit from he's mouth.

He couldn't understand it, he didn't recognize where it's mouth and throat was, yet. He still knew where it was located in its body. He then felt control over its arms. And to end the sudden pain, he swiped one of he's hands over and knocked whatever was connected to he's mouth to the side as tne substance began to leave through its mouth for a good second before stopping.

And with that, he's vision could be reappearing to the returner, but it was still disoriented, still blurred from the sudden pain that struck him not so long ago.

The Returner then felt he was slowly regaining control of the rest of he's body, it was painfully slow as he could feel the stiffness of it's arms and legs but he can feel them somewhat properly, alongside with properly knowing where it was now located.

After a few more seconds, it's vision began to become more clearer and with that the returner could see what it was now looking at, he was laying at a pool of he's own..blood that now covered the grass infront of him.

The Returner then slowly rose up from the bloodied grass as he's left arm and elbow supported him to rise up. He then stretched its right arm to a nearby tree to support him even further as he rose up with the final push of he's legs as he stood up.

The returner now finally standing on its feet. Finally took the moment to look around and he was…confused.

He didn't remember..this area.

What surrounded the returner was that he was in a forest. But this one was different from what he seen before. Instead of the grass and the trees darkened in a unrelenting reminder of what the damage was done by the nuclear bombs. It was..in a lushes green tone in the grass and a bright color in the trees and it's leaves. As the returner looked around, it was the exact same in every direction.

The returner then locked eyes to the tree that he had used as a support to lift himself up, he once more placed he's right hand on the surface of the oak wood and slowly moved he's hand across the trees surface, and…it felt alive.

He couldn't describe it but, alive was the best description he can use to describe the very tree he was touching, it felt foreign and alien, yet it felt so familiar.

As the returner removed he's hand from the tree, the returner then glanced upward and saw something..that it never would've imagined it could occur in its existence. The clear prepossessing bright blue sky..and the bright yellow sun..

The returners legs finally gave in as he felled into he's knees its he's eyes completely directed in the sky above. He let the warmth of the sunlight engulf him completely, welcoming the feeling that made contact to it's exposed face and its uniform. The feeling was..calm.

Never once felt a single ounce of calmness in its existence. He always felt detached and bitter, the circumstances in he's world showed as much as the sky was a constant storm of grey clouds that shrouded the entire planet as a emotion of despair and anger. But none of that was present in he's current vicinity. It was almost seemed like a message to the returner to refuse all functions and just witness the calming surroundings.

But the returner could only yearn for that possibility, but even as wonderful that sounds, he still had orders. While he's memory is just insufferably coming back slowly, the returner could vaguely remember something.

The Order.

He didn't remember the grand specifics of what the order was. But, memory served that he was sent along with a good amount of soldiers into this world to gain their own retribution against these savages who cowered away when the Junta showed its claws at them, they were not to get away.

As he hesitantly stood back up on to its feet once more, he glanced back to the pool of he's own blood and saw a weapon laying beside the puddle. He then sluggishly made its way toward the melee weapon. The returner reached the distance and he then grabbed it from the ground and inspected it.

The melee weapon he had a narrow blade on one side while in the other had a pointy something, it was attached with a handle that appeared to be some form of wood. As he handled the weapon, it provided with. A good solid grip. An indication of the dried blood on both of the blade and the pointy part, he had used it before, Even when he couldn't properly remember how he used it before, it shouldn't be a problem in the long run as he's experience with it should be coming back to memory.

He then turned he's gaze upon the puddle of the darken blood, the returner remembered that he had something blocking he's mouth before, he looked around the puddle and saw the object and approached it.

As the returner grabbed the object and upon inspection, he almost immediately knew what it was but not really at the same time. If one word was to describe the thing he was holding, it was a facepiece. Designed to be covering its the wearers face when worn.

The returner, not seeing anything negative effects of wearing the facepiece, he then placed it back on to he's face and locking it tightly on place so it wouldn't fall when moving around. Of course it did make the returners vision a little difficult to see due to the lens with limited peripheral vision. But the returner simply subsided that.

The returner then taking one last time to account the beautiful scenery once more that laid upon its dead eyes, he stood on attention and began to move forward into the forest to take out anyone that needed to be punished. But he immediately stopped once more when it realized something.

Who...specifically was the enemy he was sought out to get he's retribution..?

Because while he knew what the enemy looked like, embarrassingly primitive with some odd looking mutants with some having anomalous abilities, he doesn't know what nation they represent. Or as far he's seen so far, they might've well have been an entire army of mercenaries or just mere bandits.

Of course there was no slight of evidence to support this theory but it was something. And to top it all off, it dawned on him that he was in enemy territory, an unknown world, and a different planet. And..he was completely lost.

The returner stood in position for a solid good minute to consider he's next move, which felt, strange at best. He could've sworn that there was a least a voice barking out orders on what he should do next, and now completely on he's own with it's own thoughts. . .he was completely unsure on what course of action he should take next.

For the first time in its existence. The returner was unsure what to do.

"Kill Kill Kill"

The same voice kept repeating itself more and more with it seemingly being more direct and aggressive through each word, as the returner wondered throughout the woods, he was constantly looking everywhere, it's body twitched with every step he made when searching. Searching for he's retribution, searching for those responsible to what they took away from him.

"Kill Kill Kill"

It's hunger for its satisfaction of ending any enemy in the most deformed way possible just so it feed off its satisfaction when they beg and cry for him to stop, making them regret ever enjoying their pathetic excuse of existence in the life of the living. He has done so to the many unfortunates to come across he's path of revenge, they stalled him, they were attempting to prevent he's advancement to the enemy, they were nothing more than Utopian Communists from the inside, they never deserved mercy from the very first time he encountered them.

"Kill Kill Kill"

They were near, they had to be, he just has this feeling that their close by, their closed wounds just screaming he's requirement of being peeled them open by he's bar hands. Ripping out their cuts while their screams of pain could be repeating itself that was always heard on the returners ears.

"Kill Kill Kil-"

A singular crunch of what sounded like a person stepping on a branch reached the returners ears. The sound came from behind the returner. The returner immediately turned its body and head around to see who it was. And he saw her.

It was female individual, her hair was blond, had pointy ears, her skin was a pale white and she had blue eyes, her clothing was similar to that of a primitive green dress and in her hands was a weirdly shaped bow of some kind that already had an arrow in it. Where she was standing was the exact same spot the returner walked through just mere seconds ago.

The reason? She was going to kill him. That was the obvious thing the Soldier caught up on, why else did she have that weapon with her? Because she certainly wouldn't have followed him for who knows god long, but he was glad she made the mistake of making that noise. She was going to pay for following him.

The returner then began to grin as wide as he's face could allow him to, the girl took notice of this and her pupils went wide as he saw him begin to smile of whatever was left of its jaw, he could just feel the fear that the female was emitting just by the face alone.

As the returner turned to completely faced the female in the direction she was in, he saw the women began to shake as he stared down into her very core, he's smile never weary off as it's body began to shake once more.

"Kill Kill Kill"

Almost suddenly the returner then lunge forward and began to make a dash toward the female while it's body moved erratically. The female women jumped at the sudden movement the returner made, and in a hastily motion, she pulled up on her bow and released the arrow, time went slow for her as the arrow went through the air with absolute accuracy.

It made direct contact to the returners right eye and to which the returner head yanked back and stopped dead in its tracks. The female was confused on why it didn't fall forward to the ground when the arrow hit the returner back she then had a look of horror when the returner slowly yanked he's head forward looking directly at her with its remaining eye.

The returner then used it's right arm to then forcefully remove the arrow from its eye and threw it to the side as dark red blood began to slowly flow down from its eye. The sadistic smile that it once had was gone to one of a sinister snarl on its face that made her pupils shrink.

The returner was now furious, not because he had an arrow strike it's right eye. In fact, he's glad that it did strike his eye as now, he could see more than he originally could have. But what made him mad was the simple fact that despite her shaky and pathetic handling on the bow she had, she somehow was able hit him with completely accuracy onto he's eye. That wasn't something a human being could, and luck never exists, he then quickly looked over the female once more.

The one thing that immediately gave it all away was the ears, they were pointy, too pointy to be even considered normal, she wasn't human, it had to be a mutant of kind, a mockery, an abomination.

"KILL KILL KILL"

The returner's head began to shake violently as the female took a few steps back in complete until the returner let out an roaring outcry towards the women as she then shrieked and began to run away from the returner as he gave immediate chase.

"KILL KILL KILL"

Apologies for the short chapter, it would've been longer if I could've come up with anything, unfortunately I simply couldn't as anything just didn't stick as I hoped. But I hope you still had a good read.
