Liz's POV

She laid there with her eyes half open. Newt was in the same position he had been in when she had fallen asleep, his eyes closed and his breaths even.

She slowly made her way off of the bed, trying so hard to make sure the creaky floors stayed quiet. She grabbed her book and slid back onto the bed. Newt stirred, muttering something she couldn't understand. She held her breath for a moment, but he seemed to settle back down.

She was on the third 'Hunger Games' book now, and she was enjoying it. She opened to the place marked with a bookmark, and began to read.

That evening

Liz sat on the counter as Fry finished dinner. He wouldn't let her work, but she enjoyed his company. They were having burgers that night, and she manage to convince Fry to let her season them.

After another hour, the boys started filing in, grabbing burgers and glasses filled with whatever it was that Gally makes. She stayed in the kitchen when Fry left to eat, wanting some peace and quiet. She sat in the back of the kitchen, and finally tried to figure out her dream.

It was getting more obvious that her dreams were not only dreams, but memories.

She had chosen to go to the maze? Why? What had she done in the past? Why was this 'Ava Paige' with her? But most importantly...Why was she getting her memories back? None of the others had...What was different about her?

She sighed, rising to her feet. She made her way out of the kitchen and made her way back to the room, not bothering to grab food.

She made it to the room, quickly changing into an oversized sweatshirt and leggings, slumping onto the bed. The thing occupying her mind being a single word... 'Why'

Eventually, she slipped into unconsciousness.

"You're stupid, ya know.."

It was the girl again

"They are always going to hate you. And when you get your memories back, I bet you won't tell them what you did...Who you are...Cause you are a coward, Liz, a coward!"

The girl shoved her against the wall

"I would give anything to have your position in Wicked! You have it all and you're throwing it away like nothing!"

The girl put her arm against Liz's throat, pressing her hard against the wall.

Liz remainded perfectly still, her eyes full of fear. She had learned to not fight against the girl..It just made it worse. She saw spots in her vision.

The door opened.

"Teresa!"

The arm disapeared, and Liz slumped to the ground.

"You're supossed to be prepping her, not terrorizing her!! Get out!"

When she woke up her whole body was trembling. Her cheeks were wet. She brushed her hand over them, trying to wipe the tears off, but more kept coming. She wrapped the blanket tight around her.

She heard a knock on her door She sat up and did her best to compose herself, not wanting her voice to break.

"I'm awake!" She called to the door. "Be out in a" Her breath got caught in her throat. She sniffed once. "In a minute!" She finished after an awkward 2 seconds of seconds.

More tears trickled down her face and she quickly wiped them away.

The door cracked open. "Liz? You alright?"

Her blue eyes quickly went to the bed.

"Uhm..Yea...I'm fine. Just woke up." She was a horrible lier, and it was obvious he didn't fall for it.

She heard the door close, and a moment later, she felt the bed move as Newt took a seat beside her.

"Bad dream?" He sounded genuinely concerned. Most of the boys would probably look at her like a kicked puppy if they knew how broken she was, but Newt didn't. He seemed to...Understand.

She nodded, her eyes still down. She felt something on her shoulder, and she flinched ever so slightly.

"Sorry..." Newt said quietly, lifting up his hand instantly. He hadn't meant to startle her, he had meant it to be comforting, but after her dream?

"D..Do you wanna talk about it?"

She shrugged. "It's just the same as usual." She muttered. "It's just getting more clear that it's a memory..." She felt something wet on her cheek and she swiftly brushed her hand across it, hoping it wasn't noticed. "I dunno why I'm getting memories back...But honestly, I wish I wasn't."

Newt's POV

He looked at the girl beside him. She looked so...Broken. He pondered on what she had said, then spoke.

"I'm so sorry. Liz..I really am. And..If there is anything I could possibly do to help, don't be afraid to ask, ok?"

She nodded. Her head lifted. Her blue eyes were glossy. He could see tears threatening to spill. He didn't want to scare her again, so he would let her make the move. He slowly opened his arms, turning to face her. Liz leaned in and he wrapped his arms around her petite form, squeezing lightly. Her head rested against his shoulder.

"It's gonna be ok...Don't worry." He whispered into her ear. "It's gonna be ok..."

They sat like this for another minute, then the girl lifted her head. Newt instantly let go of her, allowing her to sit up.

"I should, uh..." She sniffed once. "I should go help Fry... Thankyou." She got up off the bed.

He nodded, getting up aswell. "Ok, go help Fry. You need anything, just find me. I'll be in the gardens most of today."

Newt left the room after giving the girl a small smile. He went to the gardens, beginning a day of work.

Liz's POV

She stood in the kitchen that evening, serving second portions to the boys who wanted it. Fry had left to eat, leaving her with the job.

The day had been long, and her head never seemed to clear. She hadn't been able to focus that, and she had almost fallen asleep a few times during the day.

Eventually, the boys started to go off and do their own thing. Fry was on cleanup, so she went to leave

Her eyes were down and her mind was elsewhere, so as she turned the corner and went to walk through the door, she walked right into someone.

She stumbled back, her head shot up. Newt stood infront of her, looking a little shocked.

"I...Oh..Uhm...Sorry, I wasn't paying attention, I should have been looking!" Her cheeks burned red.

Newt looked as if he was supressing laughter. She probably looked ridiculous, stuttering out words.

He chuckled once. "All good Liz...Maybe watch where you're going next time, eh?" He grinned at her, letting her pass by.

She rushed past him, almost running to his room. She shoved open the door and shut it quickly behind her.

She wasn't sure why she was so embarrassed. Surely she wasn't the first one to run into someone.

She changed into comfier cloths and sat on the bed, her head against the wall. She was tired, but she knew what sleep would bring her. Eventually, she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Liz's dream

"Liz, we need you in the computer room, now! It's A5!"

Liz ran to the computer room, bursting through the door. Her best friend, Newt, or subject A5 as the scientist called him, had been struggling during his maze time. She had watched from the buildings above, always keeping a beetle blade on him, but there wasn't much she could do from here.

"Mrs. Paige! What's wrong?" She shouted, finding the screen he was on.

"He's gonna jump, Liz..."

Her stomach dropped to the floor.

"No, no! You said he'd be safe Ava!"

"He won't die..He'll break a few bones, but he'll live. I'm changing the walls in A7's route so that he'll find him. Just sit tight, ok?"

She wanted to cry. To cover her face and not watch, but she couldn't tear her eyes off the screen. He was climbing the wall, almost getting tangled in the ivy. The walls were made to look as if you couldn't reach the top..That's how she had designed them. He eventually stopped climbing, realizing he couldn't get much higher. Tears formed in her eyes, spilling over.

"You can't keep me here!" Newt yelled.

"You creators are awful!"

Her best friend had just called her awful...Not even knowing. Well, former best friend. The last day he was in the compound, he figured out she had designed the maze, and their last moments together was an awful arguement.

With that, he kicked off and jumped. He screamed. He didn't get far enough away from the wall. His leg got tangled, slowing his fall. He hit the ground with another scream. There were tears on his face. She had never seen him cry. He grabbed at his leg, Crying out again.

She walked out of the room, going to be by herself
