Travelling south Elizabeth held her position next to her beloved Thorin, and their nephews Kili and Fili. The light got dim as they traveled along the misty shadow pass and ruins.

"Frodo, Elizabeth come help a old man," Gandalf back to them.

Giving Thorin a look she waited for the nod from him, and moving forward with Frodo they joined Gandalf near the front.

"How is your shoulder,"

"Better then it was,"

"I keep watch on it Gandalf, as I do any scrapes of cuts any of us gather on this journey,"

"I know Elizabeth dear you have your uncle's talent at healing. And the ring? You felt it's power growing , don't you? I've felt it too. You must be careful now evil will be drawn to you from outside the fellowship, and I fear from within," Gandalf spoke worriedly.

"The evil will have to pass by the swords of Erebor and Lothlorien before they reach my nephew," Elizabeth spoke seriously.

"Who do I trust then?,"

"You must trust yourself, trust your own strengths, and only trust those you know dearly,"

"What do you mean?,"

"There are many powers in this world, for good or for evil. Some are greater then I am. Against some I have not yet been tested," Gandalf replied.

"The walls..of Moria," Gimli said breathlessly from behind them.

Moving forward they all either chose to sit or stand as Gandalf began to decipher how to enter the mines.

"Dwarf doors are invisible when closed,"

"Yes Gimli, their own masters cannot find them if their secrets are forgotten,"

"Why doesn't that surprise me," muttered Legolas and Elizabeth as they heard that.

"The secrets of Erebor will be open to you once we return Liz, no need to be wise,"

"It's true though,"

"About my ancestors of Moria no kidding," Thorin grumbled as he sat back with his hand on the hilt of Orcist.

"Now let's see...Ithildin," Gandalf began to mutter as he tried to figure out the secret word.

"It mirrors only starlight, and moonlight," Gandalf was awed as he touched the faint lines of the door upon the rock face. As he says that the moon reveals itself from behind the clouds making the doorway brighter illuminating the words above the door.

Raising his staff Gandalf began to read the script above the doorway.

"It reads the doors of Durin Lord of Moria. Speak friend and enter,"

"What do you purpose that means?," Merry asked as Fili and Kili both removed their swords from their belts after getting a nagging feeling something wasn't right.

Elizabeth and Thorin both noticed this and knew better then to doubt the guts of their boys they were rarely wrong.

"Quite simple if you want a friend you speak the password and the doors will open," Gandalf seemed so sure of himself as he placed the top of his staff against the doors.

"Annon edhellen, edro hi ammen," and with no luck the doors stay closed.

Gandalf continued to try everything in his power to open the gate as Aragon turned beginning to unpack Bill.

"The mines are no place for ponies, even one so brave as Bill," he tries to comfort Sam that it was the right thing to do in the midst of things.

"Bye Bill," Sam sadly stroked his nose as he said his farewells.

"Go on Bill, go on.. don't worry Sam he knows his way home," Elizabeth who was behind him laid her hand on Sam's shoulder nodding to him as he looked up at her.

He had known her since he was a child he knew he could trust what she told him she had never led any of them astray.

Suddenly there was a splash by the water causing everyone's head to turn in concern. Thorin was the closest along with Aragon who quickly made their way to Merry and Pippin and grabbing their arms.

"Do not disturb the water," Aragon warned as he saw the ripples in the water causing Thorin to remove Orcist from its sheath.

"It's a riddle,"

"What is Frodo?,"

"The script, speak 'friend' and enter. What's the elvish word for friend?,"

"Mellon," both Gandalf and Elizabeth responded as the gate started to creak to life.

"Are you kidding me of all things Durin used Elvish to control the door," Elizabeth shook her head in disbelief about how elves and dwarves were long intertwined despite the stunts her uncle had done against Erebor.
