Here we are at Chapter 6. Time for more drama and mayhem before getting to the real part of the story. I do not own RWBY Ice Queendom. They belong to their respective owners. I only own my OCs. Here's chapter 6. Enjoy.
Chapter 6: The Past and Future
In the city of Vale, Team KEPL are making their way to the docks on a day off from school.
"So, are we really going to be spying on the students coming from other academies like a couple of stalkers?" Lloyd asks.
"To defeat your enemy, you must know them, Lloyd. Everything about them, as much as you can gather. That will give us an advantage in the Vytal Festival Tournament. I want to face the best the other academies can offer. And I want to prove Team KEPL's strength to the world," Khazhak replies.
"No use backing out now. We're almost to the docks anyway," Porphyrius notes.
Reaper looks to the side, "Oh, it seems we have company,"
He points, causing the others to turn and see Team RWBY approaching them.
"Oh, Khazhak, guys, how's it going?" Ruby is the first to greet them.
"Little rose, what brings your team out here?" Khazhak replies.
"Well, I thought it would be a great idea to see the city as they get ready for the festival, and to greet the students arriving from the other schools," Weiss says.
Blake deadpans, "You just want to spy on them to have an advantage in the tournament,"
Weiss scoffs, "I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about,"
Yang looks at Porphyrius, "Hey, you feeling better, Porphyrius?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks, Yang. Still sorting things out I guess," Porphyrius nods.
There's still tension between him and Weiss, but it has decreased since his time with the Nightmare. It won't be so easy, given their family histories with one another.
Lloyd looks over and his eyes widen, "Hey guys, check that out,' he points to the side.
They look to see a Dust shop with the windows broken and crime scene tape wrapped all around it and blocking people off from getting too close. They spot one detective writing stuff on a clipboard.
"Hey, what happened here?" Khazhak asks as they approach.
"Another robbery, but they only thing they took was the Dust. Never even touched the money. If you ask me, it's probably the White Fang. Now get moving," the detective shoos them away.
The group leave and Weiss gets a sour look on her face, "Hmph, the White Fang. What are those awful degenerates up to this time,"
Blake doesn't appreciate her words, "That's not true. They're just a collection of misguided Faunus,"
"They want humanity extinct, Blake," Weiss retorts.
"But not all of them! And that still doesn't answer why they would rob a Dust shop and only take the Dust," Blake argues back.
"Blake has a point. The night I met Ruby, we were up against the big criminal Roman Torchwick, who was robbing a Dust shop. We weren't able to catch him though. More importantly," Khazhak gets in between them. "Both of you make good points. Right now, there's no concrete evidence that it was the White Fang that robbed these businesses. The White Fang used to be a peaceful protest group... until people like you, your father, and your father's company forced them to take more extreme measures," he looks at Weiss, then turns to Blake. "The White Fang has since lost their way since. Now, they do attack and kill innocent people. They have even attacked Faunus who don't agree with how they're doing things. Who they were before is not who they are now, Blake. They have blood on their hands, but so does the Schnee Dust Company. You both need to look at the bigger picture here. Those in the White Fang have become dangerous, but not every Faunus in the world is evil,"
"Hey, stop that Faunus!" they hear and look to see a monkey Faunus with an open white shirt, blue jeans, and spikey blonde hair jump off a ship and land on a pier. "You no good stowaway!"
One of the workers makes a grab for him, but the Faunus jumps off his shoulder, only to hand upside down from a lamppost by his monkey tail.
"Hey, I'm a great stowaway! Otherwise, you guys would've caught me already!"
"This guys looks like fun," Lloyd notes while Porphyrius simply groans.
The dude runs up the stairs and past the two teams, but not before winking at Blake. He books it as the two workers give chase.
"We have to stop him before he does something else illegal," Weiss says before going after him.
"Why do I bother?" Khazhak rolls his eyes before giving chase, with their two teams following them.
They move around a corner of a building, only for Weiss to collide into a civilian.
"Look before you leap, Weiss. You okay?" Reaper asks.
Weiss shakes her head, "Yeah, I'm fine, but..." she looks at the girl she ran into, literally.
The girl has green eyes, short orange hair with a bow, and an off-white older styled blouse under a short gray dress.
"Are you... okay?" Yang asks.
The girl smiles, "Yes, I am wonderful. Thanks for your concern," she replies like nothing happened. She hops right up onto her feet, making the others step back. "My name's Penny. Sal-U-Tations," she greets them.
"It's nice to meet you, Penny. Our new friend," Ruby greets her back.
Lloyd leans close to Porphyrius, "Does she seem off to you?" he whispers, only to get an elbow to the stomach.
"Look, we need to keep moving and find that Faunus," Weiss reminds the group.
"Wait, what did you refer to me as?" Penny asks.
"Oh, she doesn't mean you," Blake says.
"No, not about that," Penny walks up and gets right into Ruby's personal space, making her nervous. "You. Did you say you and I are friends?"
"Uh... yeah," Ruby replies weakly.
Penny smiles, "Yay! A friend! My first friend in Vale! I am so happy!" she cheers.
"Okay..." Khazhak has no idea what to make of this girl.
"There's seriously something up with her," Weiss mutters.
"Apologies, but we have another pressing engagement and must take our leave. Hope to see you again sometime," Reaper says.
"Of course. See you later, friends," Penny says.
The group leave the strange girl behind and continue their search for the monkey Faunus. However, they come up with nothing and eventually give up.
"Look, he's gone already. It was just a stowaway incident. It's not a big deal," Yang notes.
"He's a monkey-tailed criminal. Give him enough time and I'm sure he'll just join the rest of those White Fang terrorists," Weiss says.
Blake's had it by now, "Weiss... you are such an ignorant, spoiled little brat!" she yells, shocking Ruby and Yang.
Weiss glares at her teammate, "What was that?"
"I said that you're an ignorant brat. Just because he's a Faunus, it doesn't make him evil. If you truly think that all Faunus are evil, then you're an even worse person than I thought," Blake returns the glare.
"I can't believe that you would actually defend such an evil group such as those in the White Fang," Weiss retorts.
"There isn't anything like pure evil in the world, Weiss!" Blake gets angrier. "They hate humans because of people like YOU who automatically think of them as monsters!"
"Guys, please don't fight-," Ruby tries to calm them down, but Weiss glares at her, making her freeze.
Khazhak steps up, "That's enough, both of you. You're both being idiots,"
"None of you understand... Ever since I was a little girl, the White Fang has been at war with my family. I've seen family friends vanish without a trace. Board members executed to make a point. They've even made direct threats to my family. And my father would always come home, furious. Do you know how terrible my childhood was because of that?!" Weiss shoots back.
"Well, maybe we just got sick and tired of being victimized" Blake lets the cat (no pun intended) out of the bag.
Her words shock the group, with the exception of Khazhak who already knew the truth.
"What do you mean... we..." Weiss trails off.
Seeing as how her secret is out, Blake makes a run for it.
"Blake, wait!" Ruby reaches out to her, but Khazhak stops her.
"Porphyrius," Khazhak orders him.
Porphyrius nods, "Got it," and he runs after Blake.
"Porphyrius will look out for Blake. Give her a little bit to cool her head. You BOTH need to calm down. Then we'll go look for them," Khazhak narrows his eyes at Weiss. "Even after all this time, you still have learned nothing Weiss. How disappointing,"
"W-What are you-," Weiss stutters.
"Nicholas Schnee... would be ashamed," Khazhak replies, stunning her.
…
Up on a rooftop, Blake looks over the city, her bow removed to reveal her cat ears.
"So that's it, huh," she looks back to see Porphyrius behind her. "I must be losing my edge if I didn't notice,"
"Porphyrius... Come to bring me in?" Blake turns away dejectedly.
Porphyrius walks over and sits next to her, "No, I'm not. Khazhak wanted me to make sure you didn't do anything stupid,"
"Porphyrius... you wouldn't understand. I-," Blake begins.
"I do understand... More than you could ever know," Porphyrius looks her in the eye.
Blake then remembers what Khazhak told them about Porphyrius' past. He knows what it's like to be vilified just because of what you are. And he's gotten it even worse than her. She still has her ears, but his wings are gone forever.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-," Blake apologizes.
"I was right," they look back to see the monkey Faunus from before. "You do look a lot better without the bow,"
…
After a little while of searching, Teams RWBY and KEPL meet back up by a statue in the city.
"Anything?" Ruby asks them.
"I couldn't find them. How about you guys?" Yang asks.
"Nothing so far. At least I'm sure that Porphyrius is keeping Blake safe," Reaper says.
"I honestly don't see why we should be looking for her," Weiss retorts.
"Weiss, she's our teammate. We have to find her," Yang argues.
"You heard what she said. She's a part of the White Fang," Weiss says.
"We don't know that for sure. Not until we actually talk to her and get the whole story. Let's keep searching. Ruby and I will check the docks. Let's go," Khazhak says before he and Ruby leave the group.
"Ruby... be careful," Yang mutters before glaring at Weiss. "If you think she's a bad person just because she's a Faunus, then you're just as bad as Blake said you were,"
Weiss looks hurt by her words, "I guess I... was being... a bit too harsh, but... the White Fang-,"
"I don't want to hear it! Let's just find Blake," Yang shuts her up and heads off in one direction with Lloyd while Weiss and Reaper leave in another.
…
At a local café, Blake tells Porphyrius, and the monkey Faunus, Sun Wukong, about her past. Suffice to say, the two boys were surprised by it.
"So... you were actually with the White Fang?" Porphyrius asks.
"Yes, for a long time, actually," Blake replies.
"And I thought I had it rough," Porphyrius mutters.
"But those jerks are just a bunch of crazy, holier-than-though creeps who attack people and just take whatever they want. You don't strike me as that type of person," Sun notes.
"The White Fang originally wanted peace and equality between humans and Faunus. But, over time, their goals and ideals changed... and they lost their way. So, I decided to leave. I didn't want to use my skills to aid in their senseless violence. I decided I would start fresh by becoming a huntress," Blake explains.
"Okay, but what about your friends? Have you told them about this stuff?" Sun asks.
"That's a complicated story. However, even if things didn't go well with Weiss, I doubt Ruby and Yang's opinion of you would've changed. I believe they would still see you as their friend," Porphyrius says.
"...Maybe," Blake mutters.
"Okay, so what's the plan for right now?" Sun asks.
"Well, before anything else, I want to solve the mystery with these Dust shop robberies," Blake says.
"Now that you mention it, I heard from some guys on that ship I was on that a huge Schnee Dust Company freighter will be docking at the port later tonight. Supposed to be a big shipment of Dust on that boat. To fill up all the shops that have been hit. I'll bet the ones robbing them won't resist a catch that big," Sun says.
Porphyrius sighs, "Just once, I'd like to go to a city and not blow something up," he shakes his head, knowing what Blake's next move will be.
Khazhak and Ruby stop by a statue overlooking a pond in the city, "Where could she be? Oh, I'm worried about her," Ruby moans while sitting down.
"We'll find them, little rose. Count on it," Khazhak says, but then looks to his right.
"Are you looking for the Faunus girl and the Faunus boy?" a sudden voice makes Ruby bolt up to see Penny sitting next to her.
"Ah! Where'd you come from?!" Ruby nearly freaks out, but then notices something. "Wait, how'd you know about Blake and Porphyrius?"
"I saw her with her cat ears. She wasn't wearing a bow at the time. And I overheard the boy mentioning that he's a half-Faunus," Penny replies., smiling.
"Penny, where did you see them? What were they talking about?" Khazhak asks.
"Okay, I'll tell you, and help you look for them," Penny says.
In another part of the city, Reaper and Weiss continue their search.
"Have you decided what you're going to do when we find them, Weiss?" Reaper asks, looking back at Weiss as she hangs her head.
"I don't... I don't know. Ever since I arrived here in Vale, nothing has gone the way I imagined it would be. I wasn't chosen to be leader, or put on Pyrrha's team. And now I find out one of my teammates is a Faunus. How am I supposed to deal with this?" Weiss says.
Reaper sighs, "Reality and fantasy are two very different things Weiss. Nothing ever goes according to plan. Look at me. I never planned on wearing this mask, but certain events happened, and now I have no choice. All we can do is adapt and grow. It's all any of us can do. I'm sure Blake would say the same thing. Her kind have been persecuted and discriminated against even before the White Fang was created. Can you imagine it, your entire species, your whole existence, frowned upon simply because of something that was beyond your control? And yet, she still wants to become a huntress. To protect people, not harm them. She's trying to adapt and live in this harsh reality. Do you possess that same strength, Weiss?"
Weiss thinks on his words, "I..."
…
In the evening, at the docks, Porphyrius, Sun, and Blake are scoping out the docks from atop a nearby building.
"You sure you want to tag along for this?" Porphyrius asks.
"Hey, I'm already here. Besides, this could be fun," Sun replies.
Just then, they hear some noise and look up to see a pair of airships fly in and land at the docks. They open up to reveal members of the White Fang being led by Roman Torchwick as they begin raiding the containers and stealing the Dust.
"So it's true... The White Fang are behind the robberies after all. But... who's that human?" Blake notes sadly.
"Roman Torchwick. My group originally came here to Vale to kill him. Dangerous criminal, basically. But, what's he doing working with the White Fang?" Porphyrius wonders. Just then, Blake draws her katana. Porphyrius activates his backpack. "Guess we're doing this then,"
"Wait, doing what?" Sun asks, but the pair leap off the rooftop and into the fray.
In the city, Ruby, Khazhak, and Penny turn when they hear gunshots in the distance.
"Gunshots. At the docks. Let's move," Khazhak takes the lead and they race to the docks.
Elsewhere, Lloyd and Yang have a talk, "Don't you think you're a little too soft on Ruby sometimes,"
"Huh?" Yang looks confused.
Lloyd rests his hands behind his shoulders, "Just saying. I think she's tried to show off so much because she looks up to you and wants your approval or something. Brother's never been like that with me. But, that's just because he wants me to survive and knows what I can do,"
"Your brother? Are you guys actually related?" Yang asks.
"Nope. I swore an oath of brotherhood to him, making us sworn brothers. No blood relation, but it doesn't change the fact that he's my brother. I'll always have his back, and he's got mine. But, we don't need to coddle each other. We know the other can take care of themselves. Maybe you should try and do the same thing with Ruby. I think she has what it takes," Lloyd says.
Just then, they hear an explosion and look up to see smoke rising into the air. Giving a swift glance and a nod to each other, the two race to where the action is. At the docks, Roman gets in his airship to avoid the flames of the chaos that's consuming the area.
"What is with these kids these days?" Roman curses before his airship takes off into the sky.
Khazhak, with his weapon in its spear form, spins it around while charging up his semblance.
"You're not going anywhere!" Khazhak swings his weapon, sending a lightning buzzsaw at the airship. However, the second airship ends up getting in the way and gets blasted instead, allowing Torchwick to escape again. Khazhak sheathes his swords. "Damn..." he looks back, seeing Penny walking over to Ruby, Sun, Porphyrius, and Blake, several blades hovering behind her before they retreat into the small backpack on her back. "Penny... could you be..."
Deciding it's an issue for another time, he regroups with the others. A little while, the rest of their teams show up after looking over the destruction caused by Khazhak and Penny. By this point, Blake had told them about her past.
"Looks like you guys had quite the party, and didn't bother to invite us. I'm a little hurt, actually," Lloyd jokes as they approach.
Ruby looks between Weiss and Blake with a worried expression, "Weiss, listen, Blake isn't with the White Fang anymore. And she has cat ears that she hides with a bow. They're actually really cute... or something like that," Ruby tries to explain, only for Weiss to walk past her and up to Blake.
"Here come the fireworks," Khazhak mutters.
Weiss and Blake have a stare down, "She's telling the truth, Weiss. I left the White Fang," Blake says.
"I don't want to hear anymore. Throughout this whole mess, and with everyone talking to me about it, I've been doing some soul searching. Some thinking... and know you what. I don't care anymore," Weiss says.
"You don't... care anymore?" Blake is perplexed.
"You said you left them, right. From now on, when you have something this big that's bugging you, you'll come and ask your teammates for help. Instead of... someone else," she glances at Sun, who just smiles and shrugs his shoulders.
Blake slowly smiles, "Yes. I'll do that,"
Ruby pumps her fists, "Yes, Team RWBY is back together again!" she cheers.
Weiss then looks to Khazhak, "Khazhak, you were right. I still have a lot to learn. A lot of stuff to figure out. But, while you were harsh at times, you were still right. So, thanks for helping me realize some things. For helping me figure out what kind of person I want to be. And Reaper, thank you as well for all your help,"
Reaper smiles behind his mask, "Of course. That's what friends do, right," he looks at his leader.
Khazhak stares at Weiss before grunting with a smirk, "As long as you understand and stop making things so difficult for the rest of us. At least now, you finally grow stronger and become the kind of person you want to be,"
Weiss smiles, "Yes,"
…
Having returned to Beacon after this whole escapade, Ruby walks with Blake and Yang to look for Weiss.
"I'm just glad we managed to sort things out. I don't like it when teammates fight each other," Ruby says.
"Yeah, it's much more fun when we get along and do stuff together. Right, Blake?" Yang turns to her partner.
Blake nods, "Yeah, you're right. Sorry again about running off on you guys,"
"It's fine, Blake. Now come on, Weiss should be back in our dorm," Ruby says as they reach their room. "Weiss, are you in-," Ruby opens the door, only to stop when she sees Weiss on the floor, unconscious and with vine marks on her face and body. "WEISS!"
And that's the chapter. Blake and Weiss managed to settle their differences, but not an even bigger challenge awaits them. The time for the true battle in this story has come. What will Khazhak, Ruby, and the others find when they have to enter Weiss' dream? Also, if you have any outfit ideas for Team KEPL while in Weiss' dream, let me know and I may or may not use them, or at least a part of them, in the story. Until then, please Read and Review.
