FOREWORD
Years ago, I had my first encounter with The Witcher franchise when I read the short story collection The Last Wish. I had always been meaning to go back and read more of the books, but I never got around to it, and while I had interest in the game trilogy, I never got around to playing any of them until recently either.
The third game is easily one of the best RPGs and open-world games of all time. The complex morality and significance of seemingly innocuous choices, to say nothing of the brilliant story and characters, ensured that The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt swiftly became one of my all-time favourites. And around that time, I began formulating a story idea. I did post a oneshot crossover between the novels and James Bond (albeit inspired by the third game's tutorial section), but I always wanted to do a longer story.
While Harry/Ciri fics have been done before, and by many excellent authors, the best being Flameraiser's The Swallow and the Dragon, I wanted to do my own take on such a thing. Many of them begin with Ciri and Harry meeting in the Potterverse, with the former often pursued by the Wild Hunt, but I wanted to start things off differently. So, instead of Harry meeting Ciri on his home turf and deciding to follow her home, he ends up being dropped into Ciri's lap, metaphorically, by a certain Man of Glass.
In any case, this story had a long and rather arduous genesis. But I hope it was worth it. And I hope you guys enjoy it.
Anyway, time for the usual disclaimers. Firstly, there will be spoilers for both The Witcher, and the Potterverse.
Secondly, there will be annotations, heavy annotations, and bellyachers will be treated with all due contempt.
Thirdly, for language, violence, horror and sexual references, this is an M-rated work. I mean, this is a crossover with The Witcher, are you at all surprised?
