Chapter 1: Gotham's New Heroes

Hey everyone I'm here with a new story. I had been planning on writing this one for some time but I'm happy to say I finally figured out a plan for this one and it uses one of my favorite DC movies. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.

We find ourselves in Victorian-Era Gotham City, as we enter what appeared to be an abandoned science lab.

"Ugh what happened?" Walking in we see a young man just over 18 enter. He had medium-length black hair, blue eyes and ragged clothes made for getting dirty.

"This Jaden is what happens when an entire chemistry lab goes bankrupt." The man in charge said before handing him a broom, a bucket and a mop. "Now remember to be careful your job is to only clean the floors and wipe down all the surfaces. Don't touch any chemicals."

"There are still some in here?" Jaden asks.

"Watch your step some of those chemicals are dangerous." He warns.

"And once I finish this job I get paid right?" Jaden asks.

"Of course." The man nods before leaving Jaden to his work.

Sighing Jaden looks out at the trashed lab. "Well Mom and Dad, you always hoped I would get to work in a lab someday. Guess this is as close as I'll ever get." Jaden said before he started cleaning.

As he got to work, he picked up a newspaper that was dated a few years ago that had the headline "Commissioner's Daughter Runs Away."

"I'm lucky I had my family." Jaden said before throwing it away.

You see up until he was 12 Jaden had a decent life. It wasn't perfect but he was happy with his mom and dad, but then one day his parents were killed in a horrible accident leaving Jaden an orphan.

It was there that he was sent to Sister Leslie with the other orphans and but thanks to her help Jaden had managed to do a series of jobs around Gotham to help him when he turned 18.

As Jaden was sweeping up some broken glass, he saw some broken beakers where the combined chemicals had melted a hole in the floor.

"Hmm I'll have to tell them about that." Jaden said turning around not noticing a small black spider crawl out of the whole with a faint red glow emitting from it.

After Jaden finished sweeping, he filled the bucket with water so he could begin mopping and scrubbing.

Behind him the spider scurried across the floor before climbing up the mop handle.

Just as Jaden put the bucket down, he picks up the mop and the spider climbs onto his hand.

"Huh?" Jaden looks to see the Spider bite his hand causing Jaden to flinch as he swats it off causing the spider to scurry away. "Ugh just my luck." Jaden said looking at the bite and suddenly felt a dizzy feeling.

"Ugh…my head." Jaden groans holding his head.

Making his way to the sink Jaden started to sweat before putting his head under the water to try and cool down.

Panting heavily Jaden groans before waiting a few minutes as the effects seemed to have stopped.

Pulling his head up Jaden looks around. "Ugh what kind of spider was that?" Jaden groans as he reached out and touched the wall for support but when he did, he could feel his hand stick to the wall.

"What the?" Jaden looks to the wall and then to his other hand, slowly he reached out and placed his other hand on the wall causing him to gasp. "No way."

Slowly Jaden started to climb the wall with ease before reaching the second floor.

"Whoa." Jaden said blown away.

As he looks at his hands, he bumped into some lumber causing the stack to wobble and as if on cue Jaden felt a strange sensation warning him to this.

"Whoa!" Jaden yelps holding out his hands and suddenly a web shot out from them trapping the lumber in place.

"Huh?" Jaden moves his hands and from them organic webs came out of his hands blowing his mind.

"This is insane." Jaden said not sure what to make of this.

As he cleaned the lab, he was slowly getting the hang of this. Not only could he climb on walls, have this "Spider Sense" as he called it and shoot webs, he was also crazy strong physical attributes and a few other things.

At the end of the day, the man came back to see Jaden had completely cleaned the place from head to toe.

"Woah, Jaden." He said as Jaden walks over.

"All done sir. Can have I my money now?" Jaden asks.

"Yeah…sure." He said giving Jaden his pay before left.

As he was making his way home, Jaden looks at the pay and then to his hand. With these new powers imagine how much his life could change.

Walking into Gotham he passed by the fighting ring where two men were fighting.

'With my new powers, I could win every fight.' Jaden thought looking at the small pay and then to all the money those fighters were getting.

However just before he was about to do it, he heard a bell coming from St. Cadulus. The very church Jaden ended up in when his parents died.

"Sister Leslie. She'll know what to say." Jaden said walking to it.

Knocking on the door, it opens to reveal a nun.

"Jaden? Jaden Cooper?" She smiles.

"Hi Sister Leslie, been a while." Jaden smiles as she opens the door to hug him.

"Oh it's so good to see you." Leslie said as Jaden hugs her back.

"How are things?" Jaden asks.

"Oh the usual, trying to help as many people as I can. Give them a roof and a maybe a meal or two." Leslie said letting go.

"You're an angel, Leslie. Just like when you took me and so many others in." Jaden said.

"Oh stop." Leslie giggles. "So what do I owe the pleasure of a visit? You haven't lost that little place of yours already have you?"

"No, not yet anyway. I have a problem; I need your advice." Jaden said.

"Come on in, have a seat." Leslie said leading him inside to a table. "What troubles you, my child?"

"Sister Leslie, say you had special talents. That you could do things, things better than most people. Then would it be so wrong to try and cash in on your talents. Use them to make your life better?" Jaden asks.

"Well that depends on what kind of talents you mean Jaden." Leslie said causing Jaden to sigh.

"It's complicated. Like new gifts, something that I didn't have before but I have now." Jaden said trying to figure out the right words.

Seeing the look on his face Leslie pats him on the shoulder. "Oh Jaden you remind me of another boy I took in. I've seen it in so many others that I help as well. You're going through the same thing they did."

"Somehow I doubt that." Jaden said.

"The point is Jaden you're changing into the man you're going to be. And just because you can do something doesn't mean you should Jaden. Remember what I've told you and all the others Jaden, with great power there must always come great responsibility." Leslie smiles.

Hearing this Jaden smiles softly.

"Thank you Leslie." Jaden smiles getting up and hugging her.

"All better now?" Leslie asks.

"Yeah I think I'll be good now. Thanks for always helping me and so many others. Especially when we needed it." Jaden said.

"Remember Jaden, should you find yourself lost again just remember. I'll always be there to help you find your way and someday you'll find others to guide you as well." Leslie reminds.

"I will, thank you." Jaden said leaving the cathedral.

Making his way into town he sees a mannequin in a window wearing a black trench coat, black pants and a black fedora on its head. Looking to the money he earned and then to the suit Jaden smiles getting an idea.

"With power comes great responsibility." Jaden said entering the store.

Months had passed since that day and needless to say Jaden's life had changed in more ways than one.

Late one night, Jaden was walking down the street to his job as a bartender at the club Gotham Gaiety Girls.

Entering through the back, Jaden put on his small suit before walking past the various girls who were dancers.

"Evening ladies." Jaden calls out to the dressing room.

"Hi Jaden." They said as he hung his coat up.

"Come on Pam I don't really don't feel up for this." A female voice said.

Looking over Jaden saw two women around his age were getting dressed. Both had long red hair, but one was dressed in green while the other was in a black dress. These were Pamela Isley and her best friend Cindy.

"Cindy you know those dumb men. All they want to do is look, never touch. We just have to go up, do a little dance and make some money." Pam said.

"Ugh every little bit helps." Cindy sighs when Jaden walks over.

"Are you two alright?" Jaden asks surprising them.

"Jaden? Sorry Cindy's a little nervous for her first dance." Pam said.

"It's gonna be weird having them all look at me." Cindy admits.

"Well why wouldn't they look? You two are very pretty." Jaden said causing her to smile. "I mean no offense if I had money, I would be out there cheering for you. Uh oh wow that sounded a lot nicer in my head."

Giggling Cindy looks to him. "Thank you, Jaden."

"Tell you what if you do alright, I might be able to slip a bottle away when the boss isn't looking for you lovely ladies." Jaden offers.

"Now that's a reward." Cindy smiles.

"You might be the only decent man in Gotham." Pam smiles.

Thank you ladies." Jaden smiles.

"Hey Jaden get up here! I want these guys drunk by the next girl!" The boss calls out.

"Well that's my cue. Good luck." Jaden said walking away.

"You know he's kind of cute." Pam smiles.

"I guess." Cindy said.

"Maybe one day I'll cut him a break and charge him only half for a night." Pam teases.

"Pam." Cindy said.

"Oh like you weren't thinking it." Pam teases before grabbing her arm. "Come on we have to get dressed."

At the bar Jaden was mixing drinks and pouring glasses for all the late-night pervs in Gotham who wanted to see some skin.

"Alright folks for our next girl the Gotham Gaiety Girls is proud to present…Ivy the Plant Lady!" The presenter said as the curtain opens to reveal Pamela in green veils with leaves over her chest and around her waist.

"Whoa." Jaden said checking her out and almost dropping a bottle before he caught it.

As the music played Pam started to dance for them.

"But be warned boys, this Ivy is poisonous. Dare to taste the forbidden fruit?" The presenter asks as Pam flicks her veils off.

Meanwhile, in the back of the room, a dark figure was watching her until her song ended and he walked out the back.

"Hey lets see those leaves fall!" One man said as the others whistled at her.

"Ugh." Pam rolls her eyes and finished up her dance.

Walking off stage, Pam looks to Cindy who was wearing what appeared to be a coat and some jewels in her hair.

"Good luck girl you can do it." Pam assures.

"I hope so." Cindy said softly.

"And now folks tonight we have a new girl out tonight Allow me to present, Oracle!" The Presenter said as the curtain revealed Cindy as she opened her coat revealing her in what resembled a purple bikini set, a veil over her face and down her arms causing the men to go crazy while Jaden looked at her in awe.

"She's beautiful." Jaden said as Cindy started to dance.

"Yes folks isn't she lovely, but be warned Oracle can see the future so be careful she knows everything you'll do before you do it." The presenter said as Cindy tossed off her coat to reveal her body.

After his shift, Jaden looks around to see if the coast was clear.

As Pamela and Cindy were walking out Jaden met up with them.

"Today is your lucky day." Jaden said holding up half a bottle.

"Thank you Jaden." Cindy smiles taking it.

"If I didn't know any better Jaden one would think you were hitting on us." Pam teases.

"What? Well I uh..." Jaden blushes. "Can I walk you two home?"

"Maybe next time." Cindy said.

"There's a next time?" Jaden asks as both girls wink at him before walking away giggling.

"Okay that was fun." Cindy smiles.

"Told you." Pam smiles as they walk home.

Jaden was about to leave when he passed by a figure and instantly his Spider-Sense went off.

"Huh?" Jaden turns around to see the figure going in the same direction as Pam and Cindy.

"Oh no…was that?" Jaden gasps before running down another alley.

As the two girls were walking home both slowly got an uneasy feeling.

"You think he's out there Pam?" Cindy asks.

"It's possible, there have been quite a few but as long as we stick together we should be fine." Pam said.

However when both girls turned a corner they both jump startled seeing a man block their way.

"Ooh you startled us. Well you're clearly the real gentleman. Would you like to walk the two of us home?" Pam offers as the man reached for his bag.

"We don't charge much." Cindy said when both gasped seeing the man pull out a knife with his left hand.

"No! No! It's you!" Pam gasps.

Acting quick Cindy swings the bottle Jaden gave them hitting the man in the face making him stagger back.

"Run!" Cindy yells as they ran down the alley as the man recovers before chasing after them.

Little did he know a figure was looking at them from the rooftops before running after them.

In another alley a few blocks away an elderly couple was in their own messy situation.

Approaching them three young boys armed with a metal pipe, pocket knife and a pool cue. These were Dickie, Jason and Tim.

"You took the shortcut through outsider's territory and now you gotta pay the tariff. Ain't that right Dickie?" Jason asks.

"Names Jason. We don't say them remember?" Dickie reminds.

"Let's just go back to the flop, fellas. It's getting awfully late." Tim said nervously.

"Don't go yellow on me boy. You know what'll happen." A large man said walking out of an alley.

"Don't you worry Bill. We're on the job." Jason said grabbing Tim. "What's a matter with you, Little Tim? What are you scared of the dark?"

"Nah it's just…after what happened to Johnny Gobs and Kraven the Poacher." Tim said.

"That ain't real Timmy. Those guys are like Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. Just stories to keep young turfs like us from making an honest living." Dickie said.

"Oh he's real alight. That's why you gotta pay us. Protecting you from monsters. Now pay up." Jason said.

"B-B-B-B." The old man said.

"I think we broke them fellas." Jason mocks not seeing a figure coming in behind them.

"Bat!" The man points as they turn around to see a man in a dark trench coat with a bat symbol on it, a black mask over his face a utility belt and a black cape. This was Batman.

"Holy Shit!" Dickie gasps.

"Stick'em boys!" Bill orders as all three boys move in.

Jason tries swinging his knife but Batman dodges it and sends the boy falling into some garbage.

Dickie and Tim try surrounding him but Batman whacks Dickie away while breaking Tim's pool cue with his foot.

While they were distracted the rich elderly couple used this chance to escape.

Jason tries to get his knife but Batman throws something knocking it out of his hand.

"You're one of the galumphs who's been making a nuisance all over Gotham. Well, now you're in Big Bill Dust's territory interfering with my little cock robins." Bill said putting brass knuckles on his hands. "You're bad for business. Too bad for you."

Cracking his knuckles Bill swings a punch back-to-back but Batman dodges them with ease before punching Bill multiple times before kneeing him in the face.

Growling Bill turns around and punches but Batman grabs his arm and breaks it before kicking him in the knee and throwing him to the ground.

"Go home." Batman said looking at the boys.

"Am home." Tim declares.

"Home to mommy." Batman repeats.

"He ain't got one. None of us do. Or we run off to something worse than this." Dickie explains.

"This is our family now. Making something here. Taking something back from Gotham." Jason said.

"Make something else. Something better." Batman said.

"We got no choice. He'll just chase us down and find us again." Dickie said looking to Bill who was slowly getting up.

Looking to him Batman slams his foot down causing Billy to scream in pain as Batman broke his leg.

"He won't be chasing anyone for a long time. Go to St. Caduales, ask for Sister Leslie. She'll help you." Batman said when they heard screaming.

"Get off the streets now!" Batman orders as the three kids ran off.

Reaching to his belt Batman pulls out a grapple gun and fired it before leaping onto the rooftops.

Down those alleys, Pam and Cindy were running for their lives as both had small cuts on them as the Ripper was gaining on them and were losing some blood. Turning a corner, they ended up crashing into some crates and falling to the ground.

Groaning in pain both girls look to see the man approaching but with all the blood loss it was hard to remain conscious.

"Sorry pal but I don't think you're their type!" Someone said as a web flew in and hit the guy in the face before someone leaped in and kicked him in the face.

Landing in front of them the girls look to see a man around their age in a black trench coat, a black mask covering his face with goggles over the eyes, a black fedora on his head and black pants. (Google Spider Noir)

Slowly both girls groaned before passing out unconscious.

"So you're the Ripper I've heard so much about. Funny, thought you'd be taller." Spider-Man said.

Moving in the Ripper swings his knife at him but Spider-Man dodges the strikes before swinging a punch the Ripper blocks it and elbows him in the gut causing him to cough before knocking Spider-Man back.

Moving in to stab him, Spider-Man rolls out of the way and kicks the man in the gut before firing a web at his chest. Pulling them with all his might, Spider-Man throws the Ripper into the wall.

"You have the right to remain silent." Spider-Man said punching the Ripper multiple times before delivering a sidekick knocking him to the ground.

Using his knife, the Ripper cuts the webs off him.

Jumping back Spider-Man both girls were in serious trouble and needed help pronto.

"As much I wanna bring you down. I got others who need help more!" Firing a web, it latches onto a crate allowing Spider-Man to throw it at the Ripper making him fall back.

Using this opening Spider-Man punches the Ripper in the face sending him crashing into the garbage cans.

Moving in Spider-Man grabs Cindy and Pamela before firing a web to swing off.

Growling the Ripper looks to see his kill had gotten away. Seeing no point in staying he ran off.

A few seconds later, Batman arrives at the scene to see blood drops everywhere and Spider-Man's leftover webbing.

"What's this?" Batman asks picking a sample before putting it in a small case.

Running across the rooftops, Spider-Man had to get the girls to medical help and fast.

Little did he know below him in an alley a green light emitted and two figures walked out.

"Ah geez Rick I-I don't know about this place." A nervous voice said.

"Will you stop whining? I just need some supplies." Walking out of the alley an elderly man and boy were putting on Steampunk-like outfits. The old man had spiky blue hair and the young boy had short brown hair.

"So uh what are we looking for?" The boy asks as they walked out into the street.

As the old man looks around neither of them noticed a runaway carriage charging in from atop the hill.

"Look out!" Spider-Man yells.

The old man turns to see the carriage about to hit them. Reaching for his hip he was about to pull something out when Spider-Man swings in and grabs them both.

Leaping across the street, Spider-Man puts them both down.

"Whoa that was so cool. You just swopped in and saved our lives." The young boy smiles.

"Don't mention it. Better keep an eye on your grandpa. A lot of bad people come out at night." Spider-Man said before leaping back onto the roofs to grab the two girls.

"Dammit, I can't believe it." The old man growls.

"What do you mean Rick? He just saved our lives." His grandson asks.

"I know Morty. That means I owe him one. And if there's one thing I hate more than anything it's owing people shit." Rick declares as Spider-Man left.
