Hi guys! Yes, I decided to get into writing for my fav game series of all time - Mass Effect (yes still obsessed) anyway just wanna say a little warning I guess, I plan to concentrate on relationships more than on the action. The missions will still be happening but as we all know them from the games I will just skip them and as I said concentrate on the crew relationships between the missions. Well, of course, unless my crazy mind decides it's a great time to change the course of the missions and let someone die tehehehehe :). I plan to go through all three games.
That's all from me for now so enjoy and let me know what you think ^^
Her first time on the Citadel, her first time talking to the council as well as her first time talking to the rogue Spectre - Saren, and instead of enjoying this Chloe Shepard was already pissed beyond belief.
She was fuming from the fact her warnings were ignored, as well as the fact that Anderson rather sent her back to the Normandy to catch some sleep, sleep that definitely won't come with the weird prothean vision still vivid in her mind.
He at least couldn't stop her from walking around the Citadel with Kaidan and Ashley. The two tried to at least cheer their commander by dragging her around the Citadel and its various shops. The salary in alliance really wasn't anything special so all they could do was just browse and not actually buy anything, but still, the trip slightly eased the commander's mind.
As they rode the elevator to the docking area Kaidan broke the silence with a quiet yawn, making Shepard raise an eyebrow. "Already tired of us lieutenant?" She asked with a little amused smirk as Kaidan quickly straightened and shook his head. "No Commander. I'm sorry, I just didn't get much sleep after the Eden Prime mission."
Any answer that Chloe might have was cut off by the door of the elevator opening and the three of them stepping outside only to see Captain Anderson talking to a woman in alliance clothes in front of the Normandy. "Welcome aboard specialist Traynor." The woman, Traynor, saluted him before going inside the ship to settle in.
It made Shepard raise a brow as she moved closer. "Recruiting?"
Captain Anderson turned to her before he shook his head. "Specialist Traynor was recommended to me by Alliance as our new comm Specialist."
Shepard shrugged as the two companions behind her straightened in front of their captain. "Not wanting to hear Joker's comments when he forwards messages anymore?"
The captain shook his head with a little chuckle. "You can say that…" He looked between the three before his eyes settled on the commander and he straightened himself. "If I remember correctly I gave you an order to sleep, commander…"
Shepard in reaction straightened as well, understanding that Anderson was serious now. "Aye, aye captain." After one quick salute and a nod from the older man, she and her two companions walk inside.
As they walked through the command center Chloe spoke to Ashley. "So did you get your bunk already?"
The chief shook her head in answer. "As Kaidan said: we didn't really get much time to sleep…"
Shephard nodded in acknowledgment as she opened the door to the stairs to the lower floor before she resumed the talk. "Nex to mine is one free spot…"
With a nod and a smile, Ashley agreed to the offer, looking towards the bed as much as Kaidan.
The next morning the three humans were back on their feet and once again walking through the citadel, Saving doctor Michelle and recruiting a turian rogue C-sec officer called Garuss and a krogan mercenary called Wrex in the process.
Commander Shepard with her new crewmates Wrex and Garrus were fighting their way through Chora's den to get to its owner: Fist. The fight was by no means tough, but that might be because they had an actual krogan on their side.
Of course, Fist tried to negotiate but once the commander had her info she let Wrex fulfill his contract and kill him. And just like that they were off to find the quarian that was supposed to have the evidence they needed against Saren.
They arrived just in time to see the deal going bad. The commander didn't wait for anything and gave her squad an order to shoot which both the krogan and turian more than happily followed. The fight lasted not even a minute as they were no match for the three of them.
Shepard went to the young quarian, looking over her. "Are you okay?" she said while holding her hand towards the other female to help her up.
The quarian nodded and took the offered hand to get up. "Yes, thank you…" She quickly dusted herself. "I knew I shouldn't trust Fist." The soft sigh she let out was hearable even through her helmet.
Wrex scoffed at her words. "Don't worry kid. He got what he deserved…"
The commander was done with the pleasantries and went right to business. "I actually need your help. I heard that you have evidence against Saren…"
"Then I have something to repay you for saving my life…" Quarians words brought a little almost invisible smile to Chloe's face.
The next one to talk was Garrus. "Let's bring the evidence to Udina. He will want to see it anyway."
The rest of the day flew by. The crew made their way to Udina's office, Chloe confirmed for herself that Udina is an idiot who will be getting on her nerves a lot but at least he scheduled an appointment with the council while she spoke with Tali and gladly welcomed her as the part of the crew of the Normandy. They got to help some people around the Citadel so she spend some time hunting keepers and helping investigative journalist Emily Wong with some dirt on Fist as well as planting a bug in the traffic control among various other things.
Udina luckily was quick and not even an hour later they were walking toward the council again to show their evidence. This time council couldn't argue even tho some of them evidently wanted to. They agreed that Saren went rogue and is working with geth and matriarch Benezia. They named Shepard the first human Spectre and sent her after Saren.
Once again at the docking area, they found Anderson, this time tho, he was standing with ambassador Udina, obviously waiting for the commander and her team.
Just as they got close enough Udina started talking: "I've got big news for you Shepard. Captain Anderson is stepping down as the commanding officer of the Normandy. The ship is yours now."
After him, Anderson took over. "She's quick and quiet and you know the crew. Perfect ship for a Spectre. Treat her well, commander."
Chloe looked between the two with a frown, half thinking they were joking and half thinking it was some kind of a very weird trap. "Are you sure sir?"
Anderson nodded once. "You need a ship and Spectre can't answer to anyone but the council."
There was a long silence after that as his words slowly settled in. The commander looked between the two humans standing opposite of her before nodding her head and straightening herself. "I'll find Saren, you have my word."
"He disappeared you won't be able to find him now." Udina took over once again. "But we have reports of geths sightings on Feros and Noveria." After another nod from Shepard, he continued once more. "We have one more lead. Matriarch Benezia, the other voice from the recording? She has a daughter, a scientist who specializes in the protheans. We don't know if she is involved but it might be a good idea to find her. See what she knows. Her name is Liara, Dr. Liara T'Soni. We have reports that she was exploring an archeological dig on one of the uncharted words in the Artemis Tau cluster."
One more nod from the commander. "Sounds like the best place to start."
"It's your decision commander. You're a Spectre now, you don't answer to us."
Of course, Udina had to speak again. "But your actions still reflect on humanity as a whole. You make a mess and I get stuck cleaning it up"
Chloe had to use all her willpower to not groan out loud. "I'll take care of Saren. You take care of the political fallout." She saw Udina opening his mouth to talk again but she beat him to it. "I should go. There is no reason to waste any more time." She gave a quick salute to Anderson and a little glare toward Udina before she and her squad walked inside the Normandy.
She didn't even take the armor off as she walked to Joker, ready to give him the coordinates but he actually beat her to speak. "So they seriously put Anderson down? Survives a hundred battles and then gets taken down by backroom politics. You better watch your back, commander, because you mess up and your head is next on the chopping block…"
It made the commander sigh. "Thank you, Joker, that's very reassuring…"
"The whole crew stands behind you, commander, one hundred percent." The pilot turned slightly towards her at his next words. "Intercoms open. If you've got anything you wanna say to the crew now is the time."
It took a second for Chloe to collect her thoughts before she bend over to talk to the intercom. "Listen up Normandy. This is your commander speaking. We have our orders: find Saren before he finds the Conduit. And I refuse to let anything in the way of that mission. We all know what happened on Eden Prime. We saw the bodies, we saw the destruction, we saw what Saren did and I plan to make him pay. Wherever Saren goes we'll follow. Wherever he reaches for the conduit we'll be there. We will hunt him to the very ends of the galaxy and bring him down! This is the most important mission any of us ever have been on. The fate of the galaxy is at stake. We will stop Saren, no matter the cost!" With that she pulled away, taking in a very quiet shuddering breath.
Luckily for her Joker didn't notice anything. "Well said Commander. captain would be proud."
Shepard looked at him for a moment before her gaze turned back to look ahead. "I AM the captain now Joker…" She was quiet just for a second, to let her words settle in before she was speaking again. "Plot the course to Therum."
"Aye aye, captain!"
The commander didn't waste any more time and went to the crew cabins to grab her stuff to bring them to the captain's room. If she knew this will happen this morning she would pre-pack some of it.
Ashley noticed her and gave her a little smirk. "We weren't bunk mates for very long…"
Chloe looked at her for a second and a lighthearted chuckle escaped her. "Believe me, when I offered I didn't expect it will just one-day thing."
Ashley shrugged. "At least I have an extra bed where I can put my dirty socks…"
This made the commander laugh. "I'm glad I could help you with that…"
Ashley sighed as she watched the redhead finish with the packing and turned serious with her next words. "They called Anderson off so fast that I feel like half of the crew still has no idea you're the new captain."
Chloe paused momentarily and looked at her crewmate. "How did you find out then?"
Ashley shrugged. "It happened fast but…rumors spread fast as well." As the commander's eyes were still on her, searching for the answer she eventually caved in and continued. "Doctor Chakwas told me."
It made the other woman hum in understanding as she put the bag with her stuff over her shoulder. "I guess I will have to keep an eye on her. She's dangerous." A little smirk grazed her lips to show she was just joking around.
The same smirk was on the chief's lips at her words. "I volunteer for the duty - watching over rumors." She even saluted with her words.
The commander shook her head at her words with a little amused grin before she started walking to the captain's room with a little wave of her hand behind her on the still-smirking chief.
Not the best chapter I admit but I needed to set up some things (namely Sam at the Normandy because yes I refuse to wait for ME3 timeline :D) also we are skipping fast through the first game because the second one is the true masterpiece :3
