The Anderson-Powers Family- Termination
"Red or white?" Helia asked from the kitchen as Flora slumped onto the couch in the living room.
"Red...please," Flora groaned in reply.
"Woah, that hard of a day?" Helia asked as he pulled down the large glasses and grabbed the bottle of red wine.
"I was supposed to be in the clinic today but I was called in to assist in removing a battery from a child's stomach. Nasty work."
"Did you get it out?"
"Of course," Flora smiled as she replied and watched Helia walk into the living room with a large glass of red wine. Flora took it from Helia and took a sip, "children are resilient and he will be fine. Though I cannot say the same for his poor parents."
"Well, if anyone could save the day, it would be you."
Helia walked back into the kitchen to pour himself a glass of wine and Flora sank further into the couch. Flora wasn't one for drinking but a glass of wine after a long day at work is just what, for lack of better words, the doctor ordered. The sweet liquid hit Flora's lips and fell down her throat and she nearly choked when she heard her phone ring.
Using all of what was left in her abdominal strength, Flora sat up from the soft and comfortable couch to reach forward to grab the ringing cell phone from the table. Flora looked down and saw that Tecna was calling. Tecna barely called, preferring just to message or talk in person. While Flora would have politely ignored calls from Stella or Musa after a long night, knowing that the two of them could talk for hours. But it was Tecna and Flora thought that it best to answer.
Flora answered the phone and right away could hear the sound of sniffling. Was Tecna crying?
"Tecna?" Flora asked, concern lacing her voice.
There were a few more sniffles and a sharp inhale. But when the person on the other end spoke, Flora was shocked to hear that the voice didn't belong to Tecna.
"Flora? I mean Mrs. Saladin. Sorry, Doctor Saladin..."
"Ada?" Flora spoke and was met with more sniffling, "Are you okay, sweetie? Are your parents okay?"
Ada had just turned sixteen and had just started at Alfea. It wasn't a holiday and it was the middle of the week. Plus, Ada had her own phone and what business did she have with Flora that she had to use Tecna's phone to call her?
"Ada, sweetie, are you there? Is everything alright? Are you hurt? Are your mom and dad hurt? Please answer me." Flora pleaded with Ada through the phone.
"My parents are fine." Ada whispered, "I called you using my mom's phone because I didn't think that you would have answered."
"Of course, I would have answered your call but that is not important. Are you okay?"
"No," Ada sighed, "I...I...I need your help."
"My help?" Flora was taken aback. Why would Ada need her help?
"I really messed up."
"Messed up? How?" Ada was Tecna's daughter, Flora highly doubted that she could have messed up in any way. And if Ada so happened to mess up, why was she calling Flora and not talking to her parents?
Flora could hear Ada take a deep breath over the phone but heard the sniffles begin again.
"Flora, I'm pregnant."
There was a knock on the door of Mireya's Cloud Tower dorm room. Mireya looked up from her desk and to the door, surprised that anyone would be knocking on her door. Nobody visited her at Cloud Tower, well, nobody visited anyone at Cloud Tower. And it was extremely rare for someone to willingly come to Cloud Tower, except Aiden of course. But it wasn't night and the knock came from the door, not the window.
Mireya stood up and walked over to her door, expecting it to be some prank but when she opened the door, she found Ada standing there, a look of worry on her face.
"To what do I owe the pleasure, A.A.P.?"
Ada quickly walked past Mireya and into Mireya's room. Mireya turned and shut the door, rolling her eyes and quietly talking to herself.
"Hey, Mireya, nice to see you too." Mireya teased under her breath.
"You can detect life, right?" Ada asked abruptly.
"Uh, well, kinda. Detect it in a sense to then kill it." Mireya shrugged, "Why do you ask?"
Ada anxiously looked around, "I need your help."
"Damn, and I thought that this would be a social call."
"Please," Ada sighed, "I really need your help."
This appeared to be serious. Why would Ada need Mireya's help?
"Yeah," Mireya softly replied, "what can I do for you?"
Ada took a deep breath and looked up at Mireya, "Do you think that you could detect a life...in me?"
"What do you mean in-wait? Ada are you pregnant?"
Ada groaned, "I don't know, Mireya. That is why I came to you. But I am late. And Ciaran and I-"
"Ada! Call me old-fashioned but you're sixteen. What do you mean that you and Ciaran had sex? He's old!"
"He's only two years and two months older than me and we have been dating for the past two years. And it's not like you and Aiden haven't-"
"We haven't, Ada."
"But you-"
"I am making Aiden wait until I turn eighteen because he's cute when he is desperate. Do you think that because I am a w-"
"It's not because you are a witch, Reya," Ada rolled her eyes, "Not everything is because you are a witch. It's frankly because you and Aiden are always all over each other and Ciaran said that Aiden is always over here, even overnight."
"Why does everyone think we fu...never mind, you came over here because you think that you are pregnant?"
Ada lowered her head, "Yeah..."
"And you didn't think to go into town to get a test? I know that they are an Earth invention and not one of your parents' shiny gadgets but I have heard that they are pretty damn accurate."
"I can't..."
"What do you mean that you can't?"
"My parents can see the purchases that I make."
"And Ciaran? Your potential baby daddy?"
"I don't want to freak him out over something that might just be in my head."
"But-"
"I will tell Ciaran if I need to." Ada closed her eyes and took another deep breath, "Can you please help me?"
Mireya nodded and pointed to her bed, "Lay down and pull up your shirt. You should be good at that by this point."
"Mireya..."
"Sorry sorry," Mireya held her hands up in defense, "Not everyday I can poke fun at the innocent and sweet fairies of Alfea. However, your current situation has proven that you are not so innocent but I guess you were very sweet to Ciaran."
"Mireya!"
"Fine fine, no more jokes."
Ada gently fell back onto the bed and raised her shirt to reveal her flat and pale stomach. Mireya stood over Ada and held her hands over Ada's abdomen and closed her eyes, concentrating and looking for any signs of life beyond the rushing of Ada's own bloood.
Holding her breath, Ada looked up at Mireya and began to hope and wish that Mireya would open her eyes and tell Ada that she was being a paranoid idiot and to make sure to use protection the next time. Heck, if she wasn't pregnant, Ada would swear off sex until she was married, hopefully to Ciaran.
Mireya's hands slowly moved back from Ada's body and her eyes opened.
"Well?" Ada asked as she sat up and pulled down her shirt.
"Stella should think about a maternity collection."
Ada's heart dropped and her stomach sank as Mireya's comment was not lost on her. She was pregnant.
"Are you joking?"
Mireya shook her head, "Sorry, A."
Ada could feel the tears begin to well up in her eyes. What was she going to tell her parents? How was she going to break it to Ciaran that he was going to be a father at eighteen? Ada herself wasn't prepared to be a mother. How would Stella react? Ada didn't think that a pregnant teen model would be what the brand needed or wanted. It would be a scandal. The face of STELLA and pregnant and unwed. Carrying the child of the Crown Prince of Solaria who was also a teen.
Only one thing came to mind.
"Do you think you could...your power...I mean the..."
"Are you asking me to terminate your pregnancy?"
Ada nodded.
"No," Mireya quickly answered, "I won't."
"But you can?"
"Probably but I am not going to experiment on you."
"Why not?"
"Ada," Mireya sighed, "I don't want to mess up, not on you."
"But it's just a clump of cells."
"I know that, Ada! But if I mess up, I could leave you infertile, or worse, I could kill you!" Mireya exclaimed, "You're like one of the only fairies I like and I am not risking your life."
"Why not!?" Ada yelled back, "My life is already over."
Ada fell back onto Mireya's bed and threw her arm over her face.
"Stop being so melodramatic." Mireya groaned as she sat down next to Ada, "I said that I couldn't do it but I know someone who can."
"Really? Who?"
This was not the first pregnant teen that Flora came across and Flora was certain that it would not be her last. But this was Ada. Tecna and Timmy's daughter.
"Ada, sweetie, are you sure?"
I had Mireya help me and then Rhiannon went to buy me a test. I am pregnant, Dr. Saladin."
"Have you told your mom and dad?"
There was silence, giving Flora all the answer that she needed.
"You are going to have to tell them, sweetie."
"I was hoping that maybe you could help me."
Flora placed a finger up to her mouth as Helia came walking out of the kitchen and into the living room. Flora then shooed Helia away, mouthing for him to leave. Helia did not need to be told twice.
"Help you?" Flora got up from the couch and walked to her work bag where she grabbed a small pink notebook, where in the back there was a hospital directory list that she had created in the back.
"I'll still be your primary but I can help you find a good OB/GYN for prenatal care-"
"Dr. Saladin," Ada's voice shook, "I was hoping that you could help me with...getting an abortion."
Flora felt the breath leave her lungs as Ada's request hung in the air.
"Ada, are you-"
"Yes, I am sure."
"Have you talked to Ciaran about this? Ciaran is the father, right?" Flora felt so weird calling one of her best friend's son a father. But not as weird as thinking of cute and fresh-faced Ada as a mother.
Ada sighed as she thought back.
The two lines didn't lie. Ada had taken both of the tests that came in the box and each displayed the two bright pink lines.
Ada was really pregnant.
"So?" Ada looked up as she heard Rhiannon, her roommate at Alfea ask from beyond the door.
Ada stood up from the toilet and grabbed the two tests and walked out of the bathroom. She tightly gripped the tests and looked down, unable to look up at Rhiannon.
"Mireya was right," Ada was on the verge of tears, "I'm pregnant."
Rhiannon sighed and pulled Ada into a tight hug, feeling as though she might crush the tiny fairy in her arms.
"Well, at least you know for certain. I always find the unknown to be the worst part of these kinds of situations."
Ada slowly backed away and looked at Rhiannon, her slender eyebrow arched, "You were pregnant?"
"Well, no..." Rhiannon let out a soft laugh, both she and Ada knowing that Rhiannon had never been with a boy intimately, much less had even kissed a boy outside of playing games of spin the bottle.
"But I know how anxious I get before the results of a test come out or before a performance. Though I can only assume that this is far more unnerving. Are you now going to tell Ciaran?"
"Looks like I will have to."
"Best to do it like a bandage, just rip it off. That's how my mom apparently told dad that she was pregnant with Val."
Ada took in a deep breath.
Like a bandaid.
Ada stood in the Alfea courtyard as she looked up at the sky, waiting for Ciaran to come. She had messaged him after having a cry with Rhiannon, asking him to come and see her. Ada had told him that they needed to 'talk', which usually got Ciaran's attention. And as if on cue, Ciaran's LevaBike appeared and quickly descended onto the Alfea campus.
Ciaran removed his helmet and raked his fingers through his dark brown hair. He looked around, his hazel eyes searching for Ada, and he smiled when his eyes caught her soft blonde hair, rosy cheeks, and bright blue eyes.
"You said that you needed to talk," Ciaran began to talk as he walked up to Ada and reached out to her. Ada backed away and held up her arms.
"Please, can we go to my room?" Ada asked, definitely needing privacy.
Ciaran looked worried.
"Am I in trouble?"
We are in trouble, Ada wanted to tell him. Instead, Ada smiled and shook her head. She didn't want Ciaran to worry before she even told him the news. However, Ada was terrified to tell him. How would he react? Would he break up with her? Demand that she get rid of it? Or worse, demand that she keep it?
Like a bandaid.
"I'm not in trouble?" Ciaran asked.
Ada took his hand and silently led Ciaran through the courtyard and into the large school, silently walking through the halls until they came to Ada's now empty room. Ada opened the door and guided Ciaran inside.
"Is Rhiannon here?" Ciaran smirked as he took in the empty and quiet dorm room.
"I asked her to leave," Ada replied. "Can you please sit down on the bed?"
"You want me on the bed?"
Ciaran lowered his head and made an attempt to kiss Ada but just like in the courtyard, she stepped away.
"Ciaran, please..."
"Ada," Ciaran's smirk slowly fell, "what is going on? At first, I thought that you were mad at me and then we have an empty room so I thought that you sent that message to get me over here so that we could...you know. But it doesn't appear that you are wanting to be intimate. So what is going on?" Ciaran paused and his expression turned to one of panic, "Are you breaking up with me?"
"No!" Ada exclaimed, "I am not breaking up with you but I really need you to sit down and listen to what I have to say."
Ciaran did not speak as he sat on the edge of Ada's bed. He looked up at her and waited. As Ada looked at Ciaran, she felt her heart once again to drop and the anxiety quickly rushed in.
Like a bandaid.
'"Ciaran, before I tell you what I need to tell you, please know that I love you."
"I know that," Ciaran smiled, "wait, did you cheat on me?!"
"No! Never! I wouldn't...I couldn't! I love you!"
"Oh okay, good. Glad we cleared that up. Please, go on."
Ada took another deep breath. Her mouth, despite swallowing globs of saliva, was dry.
Like a bandaid.
"Ciaran, I'm pregnant."
The silence was deafening. Ada didn't know what Ciaran was thinking as his expression looked as if there was nothing going on in his head or that he was having every single thought all at once. Ada held her breath as she waited for Ciaran to say something, anything.
"Ciaran?"
Still nothing. He hated her. Ada just knew it.
"Please," Ada pleaded, "say something."
Ciaran's mouth opened and he spoke with a soft voice.
"You're pregnant? Are you sure?"
"I am. I went to Mireya and took two pregnancy tests, all confirming that I am pregnant."
"You mean to say that there is a baby in..." Ciaran's voice trailed off as he pointed towards Ada's abdomen.
Ada raised her hands and placed them over her stomach, "Well, it's just a microscopic clump of cells at this point. At least, I assume it is. But yes, there is a baby...in me."
Ciaran shakily rose to his feet and smiled, "You mean to say that I am going to be a father? That we are going to have a baby."
As Ada looked at Ciaran's glee-filled expression, she was dreading to tell Ciaran the next part.
"Ciaran, please sit back down."
"How can I?" Ciaran wrapped his arms around Ada, "I am going to be a father."
"No, at least not right now."
"But you said-"
"Ciaran, I am not keeping it."
Ciaran's smile fell once again in the few minutes that they had been together, "What?"
"I can't do this. I can't have a baby. At least not right now."
Clenching his jaw, Ciaran closed his eyes and took a deep breath, "I know that I am not the most-"
"Ciaran, I know in my heart that I am going to marry you one day and that we are going to be together even when the suns stop burning, but I am only sixteen. I just started Alfea this year and I cannot be a mother. Not right now. And you are in your last year at Red Fountain and you also don't need the stress."
"But I would endure it for you."
Ada smiled as she felt Ciaran's arms tighten around her, she always felt more at ease when in Ciaran's embrace. Part of the reason that they are in this predicament.
"I know you would. I know that you will be an amazing father but I know that this is what I want to do and what will be the best for us in the long run."
Ciaran exhaled and nodded, "I understand."
"You do?"
"Well, no. I don't think that I will ever truly understand what you are going through right now, but I understand the rationale behind your decision. It is your body and I will support you no matter what you chose because I love you. And because you are the smartest of the two of us."
"I don't know if I will use the word smart to describe me right now."
"You are smart and we knew the risks but I would risk it all for you, Ada."
"Even your life?"
"Of course, you know I would. Why do you ask?"
"Because my parents are going to kill us if they ever find out."
"Yes, of course, Ciaran is the father. I am not some-"
Flora quickly spoke, sensing that Ada was becoming more and more agitated.
"I don't think anything of you, dear. I just want to make sure that you have given thought to this. I think that you should talk to your parents, at least your mom. You are the one who is going to have to live with whatever decision you make for the rest of your life and I know that whatever decision you make for yourself and the fetus will be the best option. You are not my first teenage mother and you will not be my last. Each has been so different and they all made the best choice for them in that moment. However, I know the girls who were the happiest and at ease were the girls who had support. Especially from their parents."
"I have support from Ciaran."
"I know, sweetie."
Anyone could see how much Ada and Ciaran cared for one another.
Flora continued, "But take it from experience, when it comes to things like this, you are going to want your mother. When I had Mireya, Irene, and Antonio, all I wanted was my mother. When I lost Viviana, all I wanted was the comfort and support of my mother. Just like making the choice of what to do with the fetus, telling your parents is your prerogative."
"What if my mom hates me?"
"I have known Tecna for much longer than you have and I have never known your mother to get angry. Frustrated? Yes. But never angry. It will be a shock to her, but there is no way that Tecna could ever hate you. You are her only daughter and I know that she would go through the Omega Dimension and fight all its inhabitants just to make you smile."
"Okay," Ada sighed, "I will tell her."
Flora smiled, "I am glad. I think that at the end of the day, no matter your mother's response, you will be glad that you told her."
"And my dad?"
"Maybe it's best not to tell him right now," Flora giggled, "you know how dads can be. All the meditation in the world couldn't calm your uncle Helia when he walked in on Reya and Aiden making out in the greenhouse. Oh, don't tell Mireya I told you that, she doesn't know. Best to let some things be a 'secret' for a while. But, be sure to call the clinic as soon as possible so we can confirm the pregnancy and determine best options."
"Flora?"
"Yes, sweetie?"
"Thank you for your help."
"Anytime, sweetie."
The purple alarm clock rang as it hit eight o'clock in the morning. Ada opened her eyes and pressed on the button at the top of the clock, silencing her alarm. She reached up and stretched her body and her hands landed back down on her stomach. Ada yawned before realizing her hands' positioning.
How could she forget about her life-changing secret inside of her? Her fingertips grazed over her stomach and she thought about Ciaran. She loved him and her mind wandered as she thought about the nights that they spent together. Ada knew that she was young but she had loved Ciaran since the moment that she saw him at the Solarian palace. Ada's mind then began to wander about their future, her thoughts settling on the small clump of cells in her body.
As she closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths, Ada could see her and Ciaran and a small child in her arms. Soft brown curls, and chubby hands that grabbed Ciaran's finger as he looked down at what Ada could only assume to be their baby. The baby cooed in Ada's arms and continued to reach up towards Ciaran.
Ada slowly opened her eyes and felt tears fall down her cheeks. They both looked so happy and their baby was perfect. Everything was perfect.
Curse being the Fairy of Time.
While her parents had told her to always listen to her heart and to allow emotions to help guide her decisions, Ada knew that at this moment, logic needed to win out. She and Ciaran were not ready. Would they be happy and love their child? Of course. But it was not the right time.
Ada removed her hand from her stomach and made the move to get ready for the day. More like getting ready to tell her mom why she needed to meet with Flora at the clinic.
Rhiannon's words rang in her head.
Like a bandaid.
Ada got out of bed and grabbed her thin green robe. She threw the robe over her body and left her room. Making her way down the hall of her parents' house, Ada could hear the news coming from the radio in the kitchen and smell pancakes. She wanted to throw up.
"Good morning, are you feeling any better?" Tecna asked as she drank her coffee and set down her phone on the island counter, most likely reading emails.
"No," Ada groaned as she tried her best not to throw up.
"Oh, honey, you don't look very good."
"I think that I am going to throw up."
Ada ran out of the kitchen and towards the bathroom, Tecna following closely behind. Falling to the floor, Ada stuck her head into the toilet and threw up whatever was still in her stomach from the night before.
"When you called last night saying that you wanted to come home because you didn't feel good, I thought that you were trying to get out of some assignment but I guess I should believe and trust my daughter."
Tecna let out a nervous chuckle but when she saw Ada's red face, worn from throwing up, Tecna's smile fell.
Ada fell back after emptying the contents of her stomach and wiped away the corner of her mouth. Her head hit the wall and she felt instant relief as the cool wall hit her skin.
"I guess I should believe and trust my daughter."
Tears began to fall from her eyes for the second time that morning and she had only been awake for about ten minutes.
"Ada, are you okay? I mean beyond the fact that you just spent the past two minutes with your head in the toilet."
Ada shook her head, "Mom, I'm really sorry."
"For what? You got most of the vomit in the toilet and I can clean up the rest."
"No, Mom, I'm not talking about the vomit," Ada wiped away her tears, "though I'm sorry for the reason for the vomit."
"What do you mean?" Tecna asked.
"Please don't hate me."
"Why would I hate you? You're my daughter, I could never hate you."
Ada mumbled, "You say that now."
"Ada, please, tell me because I think the not knowing and anticipation is far worse than anything that you could tell me."
Taking a deep breath, Ada opened her mouth and closed her eyes.
Like a bandaid.
"Mom, I am pregnant."
Tecna was silent as she looked at Ada, her face frozen as if stuck in time. Had Ada unintentionally done something to stop time?
"Mom?" Ada asked, Tecna's face still unmoving.
Ada felt her heart slow as she waited for her mother to say something or at the very least, change her facial expression.
"I'm sorry, Ada, I thought I just heard you say that you were pregnant."
Ada frowned, "I did. I am so sorry, Mom."
"Are you sure?"
"I took two pregnancy tests. Rhiannon got them for me. I am going to see Flora today, she told me that I should tell you."
"Flora as always is right," Tecna sighed, "does Ciaran know? Ciaran is the-"
"Yes, Mom, he is."
Tecna's face turned from shock into one of seriousness, "I see. Well, I cannot say that I am thrilled by this news."
"I know and I am going to fix it."
"Fix it?"
Ada looked down at the ground, "I called Flora last night so that I can come in today to the clinic to assess whether I can have an abortion, that I am not too far along."
"Is that what you want, dear?" Tecna asked.
Ada hesitated as she placed her hand on her abdomen.
"Ada, if you are not sure then-"
"I am sixteen, I have to be sure about this. I cannot have a child."
"But?"
"I saw us, Ciaran, me, and...we were so happy."
Tecna pulled Ada into her arms and held her close. Ada was surprised when Tecna held her so gently. She thought that her mother would be furious with her but she was hugging her. Ada was prepared for her mother to throw her out of the house, call her a disappointment or stupid, or send her away to a convent on Earth. But instead, Tecna held her, rubbed her back, and listened to what she had to say.
"And having a baby can be one of the most joyful experiences that someone could have. I know that if you had this baby, you and Ciaran would love them, your dad and I would love them, and I can almost guarantee that Stella and Brandon would be over the moon after they got over the initial shock."
"So do you think that I should keep the baby?"
Tecna chuckled, "A baby is a great joy and you will love your child but you are right, you are sixteen and you are going to hate being a mother right now. Gone will be the late nights that you would be able to spend with your friends because your whole life will be dedicated to your studies and to your baby. You and Ciaran will argue which would happen at any age but you are young and I remember being young, irrational, and stupid."
"You?" Ada looked up at her mother, "Stupid? Irrational?"
"Ada, I don't want to tell you what to do because it is your body, your life, and your choice." Tecna let go of Ada and slowly sank down to sit on top of the closed toilet seat.
"I want you to make the decision because I can't make it for you and I can no longer make it for myself. Having you was the best day of my life, I gained the most precious gift and I would not change it for the universe. But I also lost the ability to have more children of my own, I lost the ability to choose what happens. So we will go to see Flora and then you can make your decision, knowing that your father and I will support you no matter what."
"Well, the blood tests confirm it," Flora announced as she walked back into the office where Tecna and Ada were sitting, "you are pregnant and based on the information that you gave me, I would say between eight and nine weeks."
Ada silently nodded and then looked at her mother. Sensing that Ada was not going to speak, Tecna spoke for her.
"What are Ada's options, Flora?"
Flora sat down on the stool in the room and rolled in front of Ada.
"You have three options. You can either continue with the pregnancy and either raise the child yourself or I can call the hospital social worker to connect you to adoption services. The third is termination. If you need time to-"
"No," Ada replied, "I know what I want to do."
"Are you sure, dear?" Tecna asked.
Ada nodded, "I am not ready and I need to think rationally. Following my heart is what led me into this mess and I am not going to make it any worse."
"Do you think that you will be happy, dear?"
Ada looked at her mother and frowned, "Can you please stop asking me so many questions?!"
"I think that your mother just wants-"
"I know that she is just trying to make sure that I am sure that I know what I want to do but this isn't about what I want to do, it is what I have to do. What is best for me and for this child. What I want is to be with Ciaran and have this baby and be a family. I love Ciaran and I love this child. But because I love this child, I know that I have to terminate. This baby doesn't deserve a stupid teen as a mother whose only talent is wearing fancy clothes and walking down runways."
"Ada, you are so much more than-"
"No, I'm not, Mom. At least not yet."
"If you are waiting to be the best or be worthy of being a parent, you are never going to be a parent. And I would like grandchildren someday if that is what you want to do."
"Mom, I have to do this. I will have more opportunities in the future, maybe I won't, but I will know that I made the right choice now."
Flora smiled and stood up from the stool. She pulled out her pen and prescription pad from her white coat and scribbled something down.
"Bring this down to the pharmacy. You will take one pill today, or when you are ready, but preferably within the next week. And then you will take another pill 48 hours after."
"What are the pills for?" Ada asked as she took the prescription from Flora.
"For termination."
"It's that...easy?"
Flora nodded, "Medically, yes. But it would be best to take the week off of school, you might experience nausea, cramping, and some bleeding. Think of it as the worst period of your life. I am also going to send in a referral to psychology, just in case you need it."
"Thank you," Ada looked towards Flora and then to her mother, "can we go home now?"
Ada stared ahead at the small, round, white pill on her bedside table. She was laying on her bed, Ciaran's armed wrapped around her waist as he held her close.
"And your mom is okay with me being here with you?" Ciaran asked.
"I am already pregnant, I can't get more pregnant."
"Well, I am a twin," Ciaran chuckled.
Ada smiled and placed her own hands on top of Ciaran's that were on top of her abdomen.
"I saw our child," Ada whispered, "it was a boy."
"You what?"
"Unconscious use of my powers," Ada answered, "I saw our son, at least I think it was a boy. Something inside of me tells me that our child is a son. But he was ours and we were so happy."
"Ada," Ciaran turned Ada in his arms so that she was now facing him, his hand under her chin, "you don't have to take it if you do not want to. It will be hard but I know that we can do this together. I am the Crown Prince of Solaria and I know that it would cause a scandal but those who oppose or speak ill of you or our son will be handed down a punishment that only the Crown Prince of Solaria can give."
"But we-"
"We will have each other, our parents, our friends. Our child will want for nothing and we will find a way for you to complete your studies at Alfea. You might not finish at the top of your class but you will finish and you will be the best mother and fairy."
"I don't deserve you."
Ciaran kissed Ada, his lips lingering on hers. Ada held onto him tightly, not wanting to let him go...ever. But she loosened her grasp and pulled back, ending the kiss. She turned around and reached for the small pill.
"Ada?"
Ada grabbed the pill and the glass of water, quickly placing the pill on her tongue and sending it down her throat with a gulp of water.
Ciaran didn't say anything as he watched Ada take a deep breath and place a hand on her stomach. Instead, he leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on Ada's shoulder.
She wasn't ready. They weren't ready.
But Ada knew that one day they would be.
Another controversial subject but they are the most interesting to write about.
