The planet Onyx had once been home to what the people of Earth would compare to a western town, in which the scum of the Galaxy would gather to play cards and bid on potentially universe-ending artefacts. But after it was found to contain a large supply of thallium that could be used to create galactic credits, the criminal element was swiftly driven off by incoming prospectors. Now, they gathered in a travelling nightclub-ship, the Neo-Onyx. When Keldor came to the ship, it was located within the Rafkon Debris Field.
"One of Archris's thugs?", the barman, a literally two-faced alien with armour resembling a knight asked. "What does the likes of you want here, I wonder?"
"I'm here to meet with the Web Witch.", Keldor answered him.
"Fifth cubicle from the left, third floor.", the barman told him. "But I am going to have to inform your boss that you were here." Keldor responded by dropping a fistful of diamonds on the bar. "On the other hand, my cybernetic eyes were malfunctioning for the last few seconds." Satisfied, Keldor moved on.
He soon came to meet with the Web Witch, an alien with a large, ugly face that seemed to permanently screaming, pincers on her arms, hair that seemed to be made of dandruff or cobwebs that stretched out to wrap around her legs and 6 fronds sticking out of said hair. "Ah, Barbaria, it's a pleasure to speak to you again."
"Spare me your attempts to curry favour.", Barbaria snapped back. She had a vaguely Eastern European accent. "You only come to me if you've got something big and you want me to help you take advantage of it."
"You know me too well." Keldor then presented a canister, with crackling energy within it. "This energy allows one of my allies to assemble his own body from cubes made from a unique alloy. I figured that I could adapt this to be able to birth new lifeforms to battle for us."
"Ah, an intriguing concept.", Barbaria decided. "You wish for this to create monsters to battle with the Wild Fury Power Rangers. Oh yes, my mystic powers tell me that you've had trouble with them. But since you've given me an interesting toy to play with, not only will I fulfil your request, I'll give you something that will assist you." She presented him with a card. "This contains a frequency for a bounty hunter with some particular skills. He could be a useful asset sooner than you think."
Keldor took and pocketed the card. "I'll bear that in mind. Now then, will your modifications to this energy need to use a container?" He held out one of the growth devices that Archris had implanted in all of his expendable minions. Even Keldor had one on his left shoulder.
"No, but this will help you use it." Barbaria waved her hand, causing the energy sample to change colour and get transferred to inside the pyramid-like device. "Now, you can mass-produce as many of your monsters as you want."
Keldor took the device, and provided a handful of thallium to his contact. "A pleasure doing business with you."
Later, back at the Arrowhead, Keldor presented his new toy to the others. "With this, we won't need to wait for mercenaries to become available for us to hire them." He threw the device over a cage, causing sparks to travel between the two, as the device merged into the cage. There was a flash, which cleared to reveal a black and white striped creature with a head resembling a set of prison bars. He also had two metal balls on his legs, with a third in his hands and a pair of sirens on both of his shoulders. Finally, the coin slot was dead on in the centre of his chest. "I give you, Lockup."
Archris was only slightly impressed. "You may have figured out the way to provide us with a supply of minions that won't exhaust at a moment's notice.", he commented. "But how will this 'Lockup' assist us against the Rangers?"
"I can detect radiation that shouldn't be native to Earth.", Lockup answered him. "And once I establish a penal area to send my findings to, I'll go ahead and take everyone that has something not native to Earth."
"Like the Cubezords.", Cuborg realised. "Ah, I like the way you think."
And the Power Rangers won't be able to stop him from taking them, because they'll be locked behind bars.", Ignoblia added. "A clever plan indeed."
Down on Earth, Trunks had taken Luke out to the middle of a quarry. "Okay, what are we doing at this place?", the latter asked.
"Well we normally train in the woods, but I figured that would be a bit of a sore point for you right now.", Trunks answered. "My aim is to try and figure out the full potential output that your Ranger powers have."
"Is that all?", Luke asked. "Well then, let's get on with the show." He took out his Hunter Morpher, pressed the button and spun around to the rhino head. "Predator Spirits, Awaken!" He then pressed the button again, completing his Morph. "Alright, let's get ready."
Trunks finished setting up his equipment, consisting of several energy readers and a laptop, before going over to three targets. "Alright, I need you to hit the first of these with your Reel Staff. Go all out."
"Ok." Luke then spun the handle on his Reel Staff until he clicked, before sending the now-glowing hook at the first target, which got torn in two by the impact. "Alright, not bad for someone who's never been fishing before."
Trunks was more understated about the whole thing. "Good work. We've got some good readings there. Now I need you to do the same with the other two, only in your Wolf and Alligator forms."
"Sounds easy enough.", Luke nodded, as he reset his Morpher to the alligator face. "Primal Change: Alligator!" He then converted his Reel Staff accordingly. "Reel Spear!" He then thrust it into the second target, piercing through it like a knife through butter.
"We're getting some impressive readings here.", Trunks smiled as he observed the laptop. "Now then, all that's left to test is the Wolf form's final attack, and then we'll go on to doing some ability checks."
"Right.", Luke nodded, as he once more reset his Morpher to the wolf face. "Primal Reversion: Wolf!" But as he aimed the Reel Blaster, he felt something in the distance. "A Hunter's appeared on Earth."
"What?", Trunks said with disbelief. "Are you sure?"
"I have three different types of enhanced senses, from the Animen I absorbed.", Luke answered him. "Trust me, it's a Hunter."
"In that case, we'd better move.", Trunks decided, taking his own Morpher out. "I'll bring in the others."
In the town centre, Lockup was attacking seemingly random civilians. "You're all under arrest.", he stated as he fired balls into the air, that came down and attached chains to the people, who were dragged down through portals.
It was then that Johnny, Marina, Lenny and Tora appeared. "What are they under arrest for?", Tora asked.
"Surely they deserve some due process.", Lenny commented.
"All of them are wanted for illegal immigration or possession of contraband.", Lockup answered. "As are you Rangers. You have the right to remain silent."
Marina was the first to take her Morpher out. "I'm guessing we'll choose to waive that right."
"Of course.", Johnny nodded, as he led everyone in morphing. "Primal Spirits, Awaken!"
After the 4 finished morphing, Trunks and Luke leapt onto the scene, already fully morphed. "Perfect timing guys.", Lenny said to them. "But why are you already morphed?"
"It's a long story.", Luke answered. "But it was convenient that a Hunter showed up."
"More accomplices to your actions?", Lockup asked as he used one of his ball and chains as a mace. "It's not looking good for you." He thus moved in, swinging his weapon at Johnny, Tora and Trunks, who all ducked out of the way. He then tried grappling with Lenny, who successfully knocked him back.
"Hey, pick on me.", Tora insisted as she grappled with Lockup. But she soon found herself holding onto his weapon, noting "Wow, this is heavy."
"Interfering with police equipment? That's a tougher sentence." Lockup announced as he punched Tora back. He then got her underfoot. "The destruction penalty, to be exact."
"No you don't.", Tora announced as she dispersed her helmet to reveal her true Animan fangs, which she used to bite into his leg, allowing herself to break free.
Lenny and Marina then went in to grapple with Lockup, who knocked the former and Johnny aside. "I need a chance to get in there.", Luke thought, as he ran in.
"Wait, we need to formulate a plan first.", Trunks called out as he ran up next to his new ally.
"Thanks for giving me an opening.", Lockup laughed as he threw his ball at the both of them, causing them to be dragged down by their new manacles.
Johnny was the first to react to this. "Luke, Trunks! No!"
"I would stick around, but I've got some classification to get around to.", Lockup stated as he fell into a similar portal. "Bye bye."
"I'll try finding them.", Marina announced as she initiated her Primal Mode, jumping into the ground. She emerged barely a few seconds later. "It's no use. He didn't drag them straight down, it seems."
Who no leads, they all reverted to their human forms. "What do we do now?", Tora asked. "Trunks and Luke had the best senses of smell out of all of us. And I doubt that they're held somewhere Marina's sonar can detect them."
"I can think of something.", Johnny suggested. "All those people were kidnapped for a reason. We need to try and figure it out."
Elsewhere, within a nearby tidal cave, Trunks and Luke were stripped of their equipment and then thrown in a holding area filled with the other people that had been captured. "And you can rot there, until I take care of your friends.", Lockup commented as he set off.
The two Rangers turned around to behold the group of people that had been captured. "This is… certainly a random lineup.", Luke commented.
"Not really.", Trunks countered him. "A lot of these people aren't even human."
Luke was shocked to hear this. "What? How did you know?"
"I'm an alien that uses tech to generate a convincing illusion of a human guise.", Trunks answered. "I think I know one when I see one."
Sure enough, one of the crowd generated a head resembling an aquatic creature, one revealed a a gem on his forehead and another sprouted horns from his forehead. The others merely stood there. "You'll have to forgive the rest of our jailhouse community.", the second of the three said. "Not everyone here is particularly comfortable revealing their true forms. Most of them don't have much resemblance to what humans consider socially acceptable."
"Indeed.", the third member of the three nodded. "We've got a Tangarian, a Finovian, a Vampiranoid… and that's just the ones among us who've opened up. All of us are native to planets other than Earth."
"Not me though.", One man stepped forward. "I was born in Michigan. I don't know why I'm here. All that I've ever done is discover this." He held out a white cube with a pattern that Trunks found familiar. "And from what I've found in analysing it, it's worthless."
As if to confirm Trunks's suspicions, as a bat living in the cave flew by, the cube glowed and scanned the bat. "Sir, you've found something that we could probably use to escape this cave. A Cubezord that transforms into a weapon."
"So we just have to wait for it to transform.", Luke nodded. "When will that be?"
"Well the other three transformed after exposure to Primal Energy, but it took a long time.", Trunks answered him, before giving him the cube. "But you've got three times the Primal Energy of the rest of us. Maybe that will supercharge it."
"Let's try it.", Luke said in response, as he took the cube from the Professor. "Sorry for this."
"It's no problem.", the man assured him. "I assume from your talk that you're Power Rangers who could use this to escape. So it's more important to you."
"Alright then, what's the escape plan?", another of the prisoners asked, as Trunks smiled.
Elsewhere, the Rangers had accessed both the local census records and the security cameras for the area where Lockup had attacked. "I've got it.", Lenny called out. "Quite a few of these social security numbers have been faked. And their employment records are all variations of each other."
"What does this mean?", Tora asked. "That these people are all clones?"
"More like they're all using fake identities.", Marina pointed out. "Probably aliens like us."
"There are aliens all over the planet.", Johnny pointed out. "Though outside of New Tech City, most of them choose to keep it a secret from federal governments, so they can avoid disrupting regular life. New Tech City, like I indicated, is more open, but that just means that it's a breeding ground for alien criminals."
"So there are other aliens on Earth.", Tora noted. "No wonder you were so accepting of waking up among us back on Cubalia."
"That explains what the Hunter was after.", Lenny realised.
Marina then had an idea. "I think I know how we can lure him back out."
Onboard the Arrowhead, Ignoblia observed something peculiar on the monitor. "Sire, the Rangers seem to be walking about without their human guises."
"That is unusual.", Archris nodded. "One would think they value their anonymity among other humans."
"Regardless, they're going to register more openly as aliens than any of the disguised specimens.", Keldor realised. "Lockup, get down there."
"With pleasure.", Lockup laughed.
Within seconds, Lockup had teleported to the Rangers' location, a rocky beach. "Well well well, you seem to have never evolved a sense of self perseveration.", Lockup commented as the three stopped to see him approaching. "You're looking at a long life sentence."
"You haven't read all the charges." Johnny then appeared behind the Hunter to wrap him up in the Chain Saber. "You need to add 'assaulting an officer' to the charges." He then threw Lockup to one side, crashing him into the building. "Now then, where did you send the off-worlders?"
"I'll never tell you.", Lockup growled. "But I will sent you to join them." He summoned his ball and chain.
"I'd like to see you try.", Johnny stated, as he and the others pulled their Morphers out. "Ready guys?"
"It's Morphin' Time!" All the Rangers repeated as they dialled their numbers and formed their emblems. "Primal Spirits, Awaken!" In a few seconds, all of them were morphed. They then pulled out their weapons and went in to grapple with Lockup.
"Bacteri!", Lockup called out as he summoned a group of grunts to grapple with his foes.
Back in the cavern, Trunks was preparing the aquatic alien by having her lie down. "Are you sure this plan will work in luring the guards in?", she asked.
"I'm sure of it.", Trunks assured her. "Where I come from, this is one of the oldest tricks in the book."
Trunks thought back to his days on Cubalia, when he came across Tora playing with a ribbon on a staff, taking it from her. "You know we're supposed to be on duty. Why are you messing around?", he demanded to know.
"It's my decoration phase.", Tora is sited as she brandished the staff. "I go into them when I'm off duty."
In another instance, he found Marina sitting down on the job. "Aren't you supposed to be on duty all the time, fearless leader?", he asked sarcastically.
"It's my mating season.", Marina insisted as she let out a yawn. "I'm allowed time off, even if I'm not going to use it as intended." Trunks could only sigh at this.
Back in the present, Trunks had the woman start gasping. "Guards! Guards!", Luke called out. "We need you in here!"
A group of Bacteri came in. "What's the noise all about?", one of them asked.
"This Aquitian is sick.", another of the aliens insisted. "She's missed her hydration cycle. She needs liquid."
"If she doesn't shut up, we'll shut her up.", the lead Bacteri said as he disabled the force field and marched in.
"Now!", Trunks called out, as Luke threw the cube, which transformed into a Bat Zord. The Bat Zord then flew at all the Bacteri, knocking them back.
Luke and Trunks were the first to come out of the jail, grabbing onto their Morphers and other Cubezords. "How are we going to find the others?", Luke asked.
"We both have an acute sense of smell, while your new friend has keen echolocation.", Trunks answered him. "They'll be easy to find."
On the beach, the battle between the Rangers and Lockup's party continued, with Johnny having shifted into his Gorilla form. "There's not a lot of these guys here today, are there?", Lenny asked as he beat down his opponent.
"Hey, if it makes our job easier, I'll gladly take it.", Marina answered him as she swung around and knocked a Bacterus aside.
"He probably used them up guarding his prisoners.", Tora suggested as she clawed a Bacterus into submission.
Meanwhile, Johnny began to grapple with Lockup. "No matter what dubiously legal strength boosters you use, it won't make a difference.", Lockup insisted. "I'm still going to win while there's only four of you."
Lockup was the shot at by two different sources, knocking him back as Trunks and Luke came running. "Too bad for you.", Luke stated. "You should've been quicker."
"Or maybe increased security at the prison.", Trunks continued.
"Thank god you two are okay.", Johnny said, breathing a sigh.
"But how did you find us?", Marina asked.
"We didn't.", Luke answered, before pointing upwards to the Bat Zord. "He did."
Lockup took one look at the sight to become dismayed. "Hey, I was sent out to find a Cubezord and you found one easily. That's not fair."
"Welcome to the life you guys lead.", Trunks told him. "You're the third Hunter who's inadvertently helped us get a new Zord."
"And we"re going to thank you for it.", Luke added, as the Zord returned to his hand, before taking out his Hunter Morpher. "In our own special way, of course." He then pressed the button on the Morpher, before configuring it to the rhino face. "Predator Spirits, Awaken!"
Trunks took out his Primal Morpher and dialled his number. "Primal Spirits, Awaken!"
In an instant, both of them were morphed into their Ranger forms. And so battle commenced, again. This time, Luke was the one to be first in line to take a shot at Lockup. He threw several punches at the Hunter's chest, before kicking him back a few feet. "You should be the one doing push-ups in the exercise yard." Lockup tried to throw a punch, but Luke blocked him before shifting forms. "Primal Change: Wolf! Reel Blaster!" Luke fired shots directly at Lockup's chest to send him back further. He hen spun the handle to generate a greater flurry of shots.
"Talk about power.", Marina commented as and the others observed.
"I think we can leave his to him.", Tora added.
"But let's not give him too big a head from now on.", Lenny insisted.
Luke then changed again. "Primal Change: Alligator!"
"Using different identities, huh?", Lockup commented as he took out a grill, which he threw at his enemy. "That's 20 to life."
But Luke's response to this was to use his Reel Spear to launch the grill into the sky, before batting it back at his foe.
"I'm not beat yet.", Lockup growled as he pulled himself up. "Even your full power couldn't stop me, Chimera Ranger."
"Wild Slash!" Trunks and Lenny ran forward to slash Lockup with their Primal Sabers, with the other three of the main five joining in, the scuffle ending with Johnny limiting Lockup into the air, allowing for the other 4 to launch their own slashes.
"Don't leave me out of this.", Luke called out as he threw his Reel Spear at Lockup, knocking him down. "Hey, Trunks. You wanted to see my power up close. How about we double team this freak?"
"Sure thing.", Trunks nodded. "Primal Mode, Unleash!"
Luke likewise transformed. "Super Primal Mode, Unleash!"
Luke then proceeded to mount Trunks. "What are you trying to do? Make me laugh to death?", Lockup asked.
He soon received his answer, as Luke and Trunks prepared their combo attack. "Primal…"
"Quake…"
"Strike!" Trunks set off running, still with Luke riding aloft, before the latter leapt off to deliver a slash, followed by a whip attack. He then landed and charged straight into Lockup to finish him off, followed by Trunks doing the same thing.
"I love to hear convicts squeal…", Lockup cried out as he exploded in midair.
It was then that Ignoblia appeared. "Good news, Lockup. You're being taken out of this situation on bail. Use it well." She then inserted the coin into his slot.
"It really is such a crime for a man to spend his time crushing you.", Lockup announced as he grew to giant size.
"Looks like we've still got our work cut out for us.", Luke said to the others.
"Right. Luckily giant monsters are just as much our speciality.", Trunks said in response.
The Rangers took their Zords out. "Cubezords, enlarge!"
Luke went next. "Cyber Cubezords, roll out." He then leapt inside his cockpit. "Zords, combine!" In a few minutes, the combination was completed. "Hunter Megazord, ready!"
Johnny, Marina and Lenny went next in forming a Megazord. "Beast Force Megazord, ready!"
Finally, Trunks and Tora formed the third robot in their arsenal. "Jungle Megazord, ready!"
The three Megazords stood triumphantly next to each other. "A whole gang huh? You'll make my record look better.", Lockup stated, as he brandished his grill.
"Game on.", Luke declared as he had the Hunter Megazord throw itself towards Lockup, with the Beast Force following shortly afterwards, before the Jungle grabbed onto the Space Hunter, before punching him back.
The other two Megazords then moved in to attack. "This cell window has multiple purposes.", Lockup announced as he held up his grill to block their attacks. "Totally escape proof."
"What?", Luke said as he witnessed this.
"And it has multiple uses too.", Lockup added as he threw the grill at the three Megazords, creating cages that held all three of them, with little room to move. "Solitary confinement, in fact."
"This doesn't seem humane.", Johnny commented as he and the others tried to move the Megazord within the cage.
"I do think that's the intention.", Trunks replied as he and Tora likewise struggled.
"We have to keep it up.", Luke insisted as he pushed against his steering wheel.
"And now for some shock therapy.", Lockup announced as he used a pair of handcuffs to send jolts of electricity through the cages, buffeting all the Rangers.
"Perhaps we could use some smaller Zords to cut through this problem.", Tora suggested.
"With this much room?", came the reply from Lenny. "Not a chance."
"No, she's right.", Luke realised as he reached down to pick up the Bat Cube. "Bat Zord, Enlarge!" At its new master's command, the Bat Zord fired sonic waves at the three cages, shattering them to pieces.
"I can't believe you still had contraband on you.", Lockup said with shock. "I should have checked you first."
"Good job, bro.", Johnny stated. "Now let's go all out."
The Beast Force Megazord proceeded to equip the Giraffe Zord. "Giraffezooka!"
The Jungle Megazord then summoned and equipped the Mole Zord. "Mole Drill Blaster!" Followed by the Bear Zord. "And Bear Axe!"
Finally, the Bat Zord assumed a sword like form that landed in the hand of the Hunter Megazord. "Bat Blade!"
The three Megazords ran in to launch their strongest attacks, beginning with the Beast Force. "Giraffe Barrage!"
The Jungle then leapt up to commence its attack. Trunks's control weapon had split into two for both Rangers inside to use to attack. Trunks went first. "Mole Drill Burst!"
Tora soon followed up. "Bear Slash!"
These attacks all hit Lockup, knocking the grill out of his hand and weakening him sufficiently. "Alright, Luke. You end this.", Marina urged.
"Okay.", Luke responded as the other two Megazords made way for the Hunter. "Bat Splitter!"
Lockup then went to pick up his grill, only to find that it had broken in two. "Oh no, this was expensive.", he bemoaned. The Hunter then threw the Bat Blade at Lockup, splitting him in two. "I guess my sentence is up.", he cried out as he exploded.
"Top of the food chain!", the Rangers all cried out in celebration.
Uo aboard the Arrowhead, the whole fight had been observed. Archris in particular, was fuming. "Another failure."
"So much for the monsters you were so willing to tout.", Ignoblia commented to Keldor. "I think we'll stick to hired mercenaries or our own army."
"Oh, I don't know.", Cuborg spoke up. "With some more suitable materials for their bodies, or a refinement to the process, they could work."
"Perhaps.", Keldor nodded as he left the room, taking out the card that Barbaria had given him, with the name of a bounty hunter to hire. "But Ignoblia does make a point. We should bring in some outside help."
Down on Earth, Luke had decided to go fishing with Trunks. "To be honest, I wasn't lying when I said I've never really done this.", Luke admitted. "It's just that since I got a rod as my main weapon, I felt we should try it."
"It does seem like a good team-building exercise.", Trunks nodded. "It's a shame that most of the others weren't available for this. Marina would've loved it."
"Well we need to take these opportunities where we can get them.", Luke pointed out. "After all, we do have all the Cubezords that were sent to Earth in our hands now."
Trunks had a realisation. "Wow, you're right. That only means that Archris's plots are going to be targeting us in particular from now on. We'll need to try and be more alert."
"Right.", Luke nodded. "But for now, let's just try and enjoy ourselves while we can. After all, we don't know when Archris will strike next."
