Royal Avenue
After their encounter with Team Skull and meeting Hapu, the Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy entered Royal Avenue. Once there, they walked to the Pokemon Center and went inside. As they walked towards the nurse to give her their Pokemon, Ed sees a little boy looking around with a sad look on his face. Standing next to the boy was a green, mantislike Pokemon. Edd sees the Pokemon and takes out the Rotom Dex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Scyther, the Mantis Pokemon. Some call it a ninja. Its movements— imperceptibly quick—are sufficient to cleave the air in two. It's very popular in Alola." said the Rotom Dex. Ed walks to the boy.
"What is wrong, little boy?" asked Ed, getting the boy's attention. A surprised look appeared on his face.
"Wow, you're Ed! Third place winner of the Lily of the Valley Conference!" said the boy.
"Yep." replied Ed. The sad look returned to the boy's face.
"Anyway, I want to do a mock trade with my Scyther so he'll evolve before the Alola League Junior's Division. I finally found a Metal Coat for him, but I can't find anyone who wants to do a mock trade." said the boy, motioning to his Scyther. Edd walks to Ed.
"You know, Ed, I've read that Boldores can evolve once traded." said Edd.
"Really?" asked Ed.
"Yes. You should trade with this boy's Scyther so both your Pokemon will evolve." said Edd.
"Okay." said Ed.
"Really?" asked the boy.
"Sure." said Ed. The boy returns his Scyther to its pokeball. Ed looks around until he sees a room that had a trade machine. He lifts up the boy, puts him on his shoulder, and runs to the trade machine, laughing while Edd, Eddy, Sarah, and Jimmy follow. Soon, Ed was putting his Boldore's pokeball on the trade machine while the boy puts his Scyther's pokeball on it. Edd pulls the lever of the trade machine and both pokeballs glow white and vanish. On the monitor of the trade machine, silhouettes of Boldore and Scyther go by each other. Scyther's pokeball appears on Ed's pedestal and Boldore's pokeball appeared on the boy's. Edd pulls the lever again and the pokeballs vanish. The monitor showed different Pokemon silhouettes going past each other. Boldore's pokeball appeared on Ed's pedestal and Scyther's pokeball appeared on the boy's. Ed picks up Boldore's pokeball and the boy picked up Scyther's.
"Let's see what your Boldore is now, Ed." said Eddy.
"Sure thing, Eddy." said Ed. He tosses Boldore's pokeball and releases him. Boldore was now larger, his crystals were longer, he has a head with his yellow hexagons now red in the center of them. Edd holds the Rotom Dex towards the newly evolved Boldore.
"Gigalith, the Compressed Pokemon and the final form of Roggenrola. It absorbs rays of sunlight and shoots out energy. It's usually lurking deep beneath the surface." said the Rotom Dex. The boy tosses Scyther's pokeball and releases him. Scyther was now red and metallic, and he has large round pincers instead of blades at the end of his arms. Edd holds out the Rotom Dex towards the newly evolved Scyther. "Scizor, the Pincer Pokemon and the evolved form of Scyther. Once it has identified something as an enemy, it will continue beating them with its steel-hard pincers until there's nothing left but scraps."
"According to the Rotom Dex, your Gigalith learned Power Gem when he evolved." said Edd.
"Cool." said Ed. The boy and his Scizor walk to Ed.
"Thanks, Ed." said the boy.
"You're welcome." said Ed.
"Wow. My friends won't believe me when I tell them I did a mock trade with one of the Eds." said the boy. He returns Scizor to his pokeball and he walks away. Edd looks at Ed.
"You did a nice thing for that boy." said Edd.
"Yep." said Ed. He returns Gigalith to his pokeball and the group left the trade machine room. They give the nurse their Pokemon and they walk to the cafeteria for dinner. After they finished eating, they showered, brushed their teeth, and went to bed. The next morning, the group had breakfast in the cafeteria. After they finished breakfast, they picked up their Pokemon and exited the Pokemon Center.
"Okay, once we travel north up Route 7, we should reach Wela Volcano Park where the next trial is located." said Edd.
"Well let's go, then." said Eddy. The group begin walking up north. As they did, Eddy sees a large building. "Hey. What the heck is that?"
"That's the Battle Royal Dome." said a passerby.
"What's it like?" asked Sarah.
"It's where trainers can have Battle Royal battles." said the passerby.
"What are those?" asked Ed.
"It's when four trainers can battle each other at once." replied the passerby.
"Cool." said Ed.
"Let's check it out." said Eddy. They all enter the Battle Royal Dome and soon come to a large area with a wrestling ring at the center of it, surrounded by bleacher seats. They all soon find seats and sit down in them. Twenty minutes later, the lights turned off and a spotlight shines down onto the ring. A man dressed in a suit and holding a microphone enters the ring and walks to the center of it.
"Ladies and gentlemen; welcome to today's Battle Royal." said the man. "Today, our reigning champion, will be taking on three other trainers who hope to end his undefeated streak." Another spotlight shines on an entrance tunnel leading to the arena where three kids were walking out.
"Here's our first challenger. Coming all the way from Hau'oli City; Tanya!" said the man as he points to a girl that Eddy definitely recognized.
"Hey! It's that girl that kissed me back in Hau'oli!" said Eddy with a blush on his face. Tanya was dressed in a yellow tank top, white shorts, and wearing yellow sandals.
"Our second challenger, coming from Malie City, Damian!" said the man as he points to a boy who was obviously goth. He had long black hair, pale skin, and was dressed in a black t-shirt, black jean shorts, black boots, and black bracelets on his wrists with spikes on them.
"For a guy who lives on a tropical island, he doesn't look like he gets much sun." said Sarah.
"Our third and final challenger, coming from Konikoni City; Maxiley!" said the man as he points to a young boy with tan skin, black hair, wearing a green shirt, blue shorts and sandals. Just then, another spotlight shines on another entrance tunnel that had fog coming out of it.
"And now, let's bring out our champion!" said the man. Out of the tunnel comes out a man with tan skin, wearing a mask that's green on one side, and blue on the other with a red mask design on it around his eyes, also wearing black pants with yellow, red, green, and blue circles going down the side of each of his pant legs, along with white boots. "Here he is! Coming from parts unknown, our undefeated Battle Royal champion; Mask Royal!" The audience roars with applause. All of a sudden, another spotlight shines down on the Eds.
"What's going on?" asked Ed.
"And speaking of champions, I was just told we have some special guests." said the man. "We have in our audience right now, the Sinnoh League Lily of the Valley Conference top three trainers; the Eds!" The audience cheers loudly in response and applaud them. The Eds wave at everyone.
"We are more famous than I realized." said Edd.
"Take it in, boys." said Eddy as he waves at the people cheering him and his friends. He looks in the ring and sees Tanya blowing him a kiss, making him smile and blush; Damian just staring at them with a little surprise on his face, and Maxiley looking at them with awe.
"Now then, let's get this Battle Royal started!" said the man. Each trainer stood at one corner of the ring. Tanya throws her pokeball, releasing a Ledian; Damian throws his pokeball, releasing a Haunter; and Maxiley throws his, releasing a Crabrawler.
"I wonder what Pokemon that Mask Royal has with him?" asked Edd. He gets his answer as Mask Royal throws his pokeball, releasing a large, muscular, humanoid catlike Pokemon with a red and black head, striped arms and legs, gray upper body, and a fiery-looking belt around its waist. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Incineroar, the Heel Pokemon, and the fully evolved form of Litten. When its fighting spirit is set alight, the flames around its waist become especially intense." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"So that's what my Torracat will evolve into soon." said Eddy with awe in his voice.
"It looks quite powerful." said Edd.
"And cool!" said Ed. Back in the ring, the trainers were getting ready to battle.
"Let's see what kind of battle we'll get today!" said an announcer.
"Okay, Incineroar! Use Flamethrower on Ledian!" said Mask Royal. His Incineroar releases a powerful flame from its belt at Tanya's Ledian.
"Dodge it!" said Tanya. Ledian tries to do so, but the flamethrower was too fast, and it hits, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"And Tanya's Ledian is out of the match in one hit!" said the announcer. Tanya slumps as she returns her Ledian to its pokeball. Eddy frowns in response.
"Haunter, use Shadow Punch." said Damian. Haunter's left hand becomes coated in dark energy as it forms a fist. It then punches at Incineroar and hits its chest, but Incineroar didn't even look fazed. Edd gets another look at Incineroar's data.
"It seems that Incineroar is part dark type, so ghost type moves won't have much effect on it." said Edd.
"Incineroar, use Darkest Lariat!" said Mask Royal. Incineroar's arms become coated in dark energy as it spins towards Haunter and strikes it hard with them, sending it flying out of the ring and into a stadium wall, unconscious.
"And another trainer falls to Mask Royal's Incineroar!" said the announcer.
"That Incineroar is quite powerful." said Edd.
"Yeah." said Eddy. He makes plans to step up his Pokemon's training.
"Crabrawler, use Rock Smash!" said Maxiley. His Crabrawler moves towards Incineroar and strikes its torso with his claw, doing super effective damage, and lowering its defense.
"That was clever." said Edd. "Not only are fighting type moves very effective against dark type Pokemon, but Rock Smash seemed to lower Incineroar's defense." Even though what Edd pointed out was true, Incineroar barely looked damaged at all.
"Incineroar, use Flare Blitz!" said Mask Royal. Incineroar's body becomes engulfed in blue fire and it moves towards Crabrawler.
"Hurry, Crabrawler; use Bubblebeam!" said Maxiley. Crabrawler releases a stream of bubbles from one of its claws at Incineroar; but the heat from Flare Blitz was so intense that the bubbles practically evaporated before they could touch it. Incineroar slams into Crabrawler and causes a large explosion that forces Maxiley to shield his eyes. When the smoke cleared, Crabrawler's body was charred black, and it was unconscious.
"Crabrawler is unable to battle! That means the winner of the Battle Royal, and still undefeated champion, is Mask Royal!" said the announcer. The audience cheers loudly in response.
"Mask Royal seems to be quite the trainer." said Edd.
"His Incineroar beat three Pokemon at once." said Jimmy.
"I'm gonna step up my Pokemon's training in case I want to take him on." said Eddy.
"That would be wise, Eddy." said Edd. All three challenging trainers each got a Nugget as consolation prizes. Tanya looks up at Eddy and decides to do something. She climbs into the bleachers, walks over to him, grabs his head, and kisses him on the lips, making Eddy blush so hard his entire head was red. Ed, Edd, Sarah, and Jimmy look on with stunned surprise.
"At least I got to do that." said Tanya after she finishes the kiss. She walks away, giving Eddy a wink as she does. Eddy stood in a daze for a while before snapping out of it, and smiling.
"Shall we continue our journey?" asked Edd.
"Yeah!" said Ed. They all start to leave the arena, not knowing that Maxiley was looking at them with admiration in his eyes.
