Shalour City and the Tower of Mastery
After Nazz's confrontation with Charlotte, the group has reached the end of Reflection Cave. Once they exited, they found themselves in Shalour City.
"We're finally here!" said Jonny. "Let's go to the gym right now!"
"Hold it, Jonny boy. It's getting late." said Kevin. "Let's just go to the Pokemon Center, get our Pokemon treated, have some dinner and get some sleep."
"Yeah, Jonny. My Pokemon need it after their battle with that Charlotte girl." said Nazz. "You can wait until tomorrow for your gym battle."
"Yeah...my gym battle." said Jonny, looking away. Nazz looks at Jonny with a confused look on her face until a look of realization appeared on her face, followed by a smirk.
"Oh, you just want to see Korrina, don't you?" asked Nazz. Jonny looks down, blushing, making Kevin and Rolf grin at him. The group soon found a Pokemon Center and walk into it. Nazz went to the Pokemon Center's PC and used it to transfer her Bidoof into storage and putting Dedenne in his place. After giving the nurse their Pokemon, they walk to the cafeteria to have something to eat. After they ate, the group showered, and went to bed. The next morning, the group picked up their Pokemon and went to the cafeteria for breakfast. Afterward, they brushed their teeth, which Jonny did twice to make sure his breath smelled good for when he sees Korrina. They exited the Pokemon Center. They soon found the Shalour City Gym.
"Here we are!" Jonny said, excitedly and looking at the gym. He looks down towards the doors to see a man standing in front of them. Jonny walks over to the man. "Excuse me, mister, can we need to get through here so we can challenge Korrina to gym battles."
"I'm sorry, but Korrina is not here right now." said the man.
"She's not?" replied Jonny with a disappointed look on his face.
"Korrina is at the Tower of Mastery doing some intensive training." replied the man.
"Well, where's that?" asked Kevin. The man points at some stairs east of the gym.
"If you go down those stairs and travel north from here, you should be able to find it." said the man.
"Thanks, mister." said Jonny. The group walks away and went down the stairs. When reached the bottom, the group looked up north to see a massive tower surrounded by walls.
"Whoa. That tower's humongous." said Kevin. As they walked towards the tower, Kevin was using his Dowsing Machine and soon found a pouch of Stardust. After minutes of walking, they reached the Tower of Mastery. They walked inside and looked around. They saw stairs spiraling up around the walls of the tower.
"Whoa. Look how high up that is." said Nazz, looking up in awe. In the center of the tower floor was a small building with a single green door and a large statue of Lucario on top of it.
"What is in there?" asked Rolf. Jonny walks to the door of the small building and opens it. Inside was a table with two chairs, a bed, and several bookshelves, and to Jonny's joy, he saw Korrina with an elderly looking man with a single lock of white hair on his head, large yellow eyebrows, a gray, rolled jacket with a black mark on the left side of the chest, over a red undershirt, gray rolled pants, a black, fingerless glove on his left hand, and black and red shoes.
"Hey, Korrina!" said Jonny. Korrina and the man both look at Jonny.
"Oh, hi Jonny." said Korrina, waving at him, making Jonny blush. Kevin, Rolf, and Nazz entered the room. "Hi, Kevin, Hi, Rolf, Hi, Nazz." The elderly man's eyes opened.
"Jonny? Kevin? Rolf? I wonder if you're the three Professor Sycamore told me about." said the man.
"Who's this?" asked Nazz, pointing at the man.
"Oh. This is my grandfather." said Korrina.
"I'm called the Mega Evolution Guru. I guess you can say I'm an acquaintance of Professor Sycamore." said Korrina's grandfather.
"I'm glad you made it to Shalour City." said Korrina.
"Yes. We wish to have the gym battles with you." said Rolf.
"So, you know a lot about Mega Evolution?" Jonny asked Korrina's grandfather.
"Yes. I assume you all know about Pokemon Evolution?" asked Korrina's grandfather.
"Yeah. It's awesome." said Kevin.
"Yeah. It's like Pokemon evolve in a lot of ways." said Korrina. "But Mega Evolution is an evolution that transcends all other evolutions."
"Indeed." said Korrina's grandfather. "Mega Evolution is a transformation that we thought to be unable to evolve any further. It's a whole new level of power."
"Cool." said Jonny.
"Yeah. You know, Jonny, when your Charmeleon evolves to its final form, it will be able to evolve further." said Korrina. "But not all Pokemon have a Mega Evolution."
"There's a reason why I used the word 'transformation' a moment ago." said Korrina's grandfather. "Mega Evolutions differs from evolution because it ends after a certain amount of time. In other words, it's a temporary evolution."
"So, the Pokemon goes back to being the way it was before Mega Evolving?" asked Jonny.
"Precisely, young man." said Korrina's grandfather.
"There's still so much we don't know about it." said Korrina. "What we do know is that it requires special items. And most of all, it requires a strong trust between the Pokemon and its trainer."
"Not a problem." said Kevin. "Us and our Pokemon are pretty close."
"To make Mega Evolution work, you need two special items: a Mega Stone for the Pokemon, and the Mega Ring, which has a mysterious stone set into it, for the trainer." explained Korrina's grandfather.
"Well, we already got Mega Stones from Professor Sycamore." said Kevin as he, Jonny, and Rolf each pull out their Mega Stones from their pockets.
"And someone else gave me this Mega Stone." said Nazz as she pulls out her Mega Stone.
"Very well." said Korrina's grandfather. "To prove yourselves worthy to challenge me to see if you're worthy to attempt Mega Evolution, I want you all to battle my granddaughter in gym battles and defeat her."
"We came here to challenge her to gym battles, so this works out for us." said Kevin.
"Totally." said Nazz.
"Rolf is eager for his gym battle." said Rolf.
"Yeah." said Jonny as he smiles goofily at Korrina.
"I hope to see you all at my gym soon." said Korrina before she skates out of the tower. Kevin looks at everyone else.
"Are we ready?" asked Kevin. Everyone else cheers in response. "Then let's do it!" The group exits the tower and start heading for the gym. Will they defeat Korrina and earn the right to learn Mega Evolution?
