Bella
Three months later in England...
I waddled into Edward's office holding Elizabeth's hand. I hadn't been back to England since Jasper brought me and now I was there meeting Edward for lunch. I laughed inwardly as Tanya's eyes widened in shock as I approached her desk, my bouncing little girl in tow, and my very pregnant belly leading the way.
"Good morning, Ms. Denali, is Edward in?"
"Why?" she snapped, "This isn't a play ground," she glared at Elizabeth who hid behind me at Tanya's sharp tone.
I smiled sweetly with venom in my eyes. "Tanya, dear, I know Edward and I have kept things under wraps, but let me tell you now, you really want to be polite to me and his daughter."
Tanya gasped and then scowled. "I doubt that."
"Just call him and tell him we're here for our lunch date." I didn't wait for her response, just waddled over to the couch and collapsed into it. Elizabeth curled up next to me, staring warily at Tanya.
A few minutes later Edward hurried out of the elevator with a beaming smile. "How are my girls and my little man doing today?"
Elizabeth ran to him, jumping into his arms. "Daddy!"
I didn't move. It was just too hard these days if it wasn't necessary.
"That lady is mean," Elizabeth loudly whispered to Edward and they both looked at Tanya. Tanya twitched under their matching green eyed gazes.
"Tanya, is there a problem?" Edward asked obviously annoyed.
She just shook her head no.
"I trust you'll always make sure my daughter and Ms. Swan are well taken care of when they come to visit me here. Your job depends on it."
"Yes, Sir."
He turned away ignoring her and came to the couch and sat next to me. He kissed me softly. "Really, how is my Love today?" I just smiled at him as he moved down to my tummy, kissing my massive baby belly, ignoring Tanya's gasp. "How is my son?"
"He's feeling very crowded, I think we're both ready for him to come out."
He laughed. "Soon enough, my Love. Are you ready to go or do you need to rest a bit more?"
"I'm okay, just give me a minute."
"Do you need a drink? The doctor keeps telling you to drink more water."
"Yes, but if I do, then I'll have to pee constantly."
He laughed and kissed my cheek as he rubbed my belly. "I don't think there's any way around that, Love. Tanya, please fetch Ms. Swan some water."
"Yes, Sir."
"You think there's any way to postpone this thing your mom and Alice are cooking up until after I have the baby? I mean, we don't want the coming out party to be his coming out party."
Edward laughed at my protests. "I'm sorry, Love, but there's just no stopping Alice and my mom when they get going. You're lucky I got you for lunch."
I sighed. "I know; heavens, who takes six hours to get ready for a party? That's just ridiculous!"
He smiled widely at me. "That's why I love you so much." He kissed me again but a little deeper this time until we heard our daughter giggled. He turned to see why she was laughing and saw a shocked Tanya standing there gap-mouthed holding a bottle of water.
Edward got up, took the bottle from her and opened it, ignoring Tanya's shocked state.
"Here, Love." He gave it to me to drink and I had to wait until Tanya walked away or I would be in danger of choking on it while laughing. She finally stomped off in a huff.
I rolled my eyes. "Fine, but you know I'm going to have use the bathroom a hundred times during lunch."
He just kissed my cheek at my protest and I took a drink to appease him. "Alright, now pull me out of the couch, dear."
He stood up and gently helped me up. He wrapped his arm around my waist and took Elizabeth's hand, his face glowing. Having a family obviously agreed with him.
Lunch went too fast for me and before I knew it, Edward was turning me over to Alice.
"Don't fight it, Love, it'll just make it worse," he whispered as he chuckled at my scowl.
My expression changed, however, as soon as Rosalie and Angela came into view. "Edward!"
He smiled. "What kind of party would it be without your best friends?"
Angela ran up and hugged me. Rose gracefully made her way over and hugged me tightly next. "You're looking good, Mary," she teased.
"Aunty Rose!" Elizabeth squealed.
Edward kissed each of the women on the cheek. "Well, I'll leave you to it, and I look forward to seeing you all this evening." He kissed me deeper and smiled. "I love you," he whispered.
I smiled. "Six hours of torture, Edward; I must love you."
He just laughed and kissed my cheek before he slipped out.
We all chatted as we got ready. I started filling Rose and Angela in on the past three month. Rose went on and on about how radiant I looked and I told her to just stuff it where the sun didn't shine.
Eight months of pregnancy did not make me an agreeable sort by any stretch of the imagination.
Alice had chosen a floor length satin dark midnight blue gown for me to wear. She knew I would absolutely refuse to wear heels and luckily for me, Esme was there to agree that a pregnant woman should not be wearing heels for more reasons than one.
So my gown was designed to hide my comfortable dyed to match ballet slippers but it still looked stunning with its plunging back and train.
"I look like a giant varicose vein," I complained.
"You do not. I swear, Bella, when I look at you from behind, you don't even look pregnant. You're carrying so well, you really should have a few more," Rose encouraged.
I scowled. "Why don't you have a few, Rose? I'm sure Emmett would oblige."
Rose just laughed as she put the finishing touches on her hair.
Esme came in smiling widely with a stack of large velvet boxes. "Ladies, I have thank you gifts for helping make this evening wonderful."
She handed one to each of us girls. In it was a necklace, earrings, bracelet and matching ring, all coordinated to match our gowns. Alice's was amethysts with diamonds, Angela's was emeralds with diamonds, Rose's was rubies with diamonds and mine was sapphires with diamonds. Each set was unique to each of our taste. Esme wore a full diamond set that looked stunning with her pale champagne silk gown. I knew better than to protest, Angela was thrilled and Rose was touched.
"Thank you, Esme." I hugged her. We all put on our finishing touches. Esme turned to us, finally all ready to go downstairs.
"The party is in full swing, I'm going to go down and announce your arrival. I know Edward is anxiously waiting for you, dear." She practically danced out of the room full of excitement.
Elizabeth came bounding in, her pink gown fluttering around her, and almost knocked over Angela, who caught her just before she hit me. I noticed she was wearing a similar diamond set with dark pink gems and smiled. She even had a ring on her little finger.
"My, my, Pretty Penny, don't you shine!" Angela said smiling widely.
Elizabeth twirled around. "It's my new princess gown. I am a princess, you know."
We all smiled. She really did look like a little princess right out of a fairytale.
"Oh, we know, your highness," Rose answered with a smile and helped me up.
We headed for the stairs and I whispered to Rose nervously, "Hang on to me. I can barely handle stairs when I can actually see them." Rose nodded and kept an arm hooked in mine.
For some reason I felt like I was being led in front of a firing squad instead of to a party in my honor.
