I'm honestly surprised it took me 8 chapters to finish the ME1 timeline…I expected like hardly 5 :D
They had a few hours before they'll get to Ilos so the commander decided to spend them in her room, thinking over all the possible strategies for how to defeat Saren, thinking that maybe she can talk him down if their fight at Virmire was any indication.
She wasn't alone for too long as there was a knock on her door soon.
"Come in." She said as she looked up only to see obviously very nervous Tali walking inside. A slight frown grazed her face. "Is everything okay?" She quickly got up from the chair and met the quarian in front of the bed.
Tali was playing nervously with her hands as she cast a quick glance towards the door, thinking about running out.
Shepard noticed and softly took her hand to lead her to the bed so both of them can sit down next to each other. "Hey…It's okay."
Tali sat down and finally looked at the commander. "I just thought I'll stop by and ask how you're holding up…"
Chloe tilted her head at her, noticing that she is still nervously fidgeting with her hands. "We will defeat Saren, don't worry Tali." It was the only logical conclusion why the quarian is so nervous she could think of.
Tali quickly shook her head. "That's not…" She sighed and put her hand on top of her helmet, embarrassed by the fact she can't get out her feelings and thoughts properly. She just really wanted to spend some time with Chloe before the final mission. "Keelah…" She took a deep breath and put her hands down, making sure each of them is on one side of her so she won't start fidgeting again. "I thought that you could use some company…"
Her words actually made Shepard smile as the worry left her face and she relaxed a bit next to the younger girl. "Well, I'm glad you came then." She leaned back on the bed, supporting her weight with her elbows.
The quarian turned her head a bit around to look at the commander. The sight made her finally relax as well. "I'm glad too because…"
Her words were cut short by another knock on the door. So instead of finishing her sentence, she looked confusedly between the door and Shepard. "You expect someone?"
Chloe quickly shook her head before sitting back up. "Come in…"
This time the door revealed Samantha who looked just as nervous as Tali did before. Once she noticed that the commander actually have a company already she frowned and froze on her spot. "O-oh…I'm sorry I didn't mean to interrupt…"
Before Shepard could even react Tali got up, once again glad for her helmet so no one saw her blush. "I-I'll be going I don't want to bother…"
"W-wait!" Chloe shot up, rushing to them as she was slightly panicking, not wanting them to leave. As both of them looked at her she continued. "Can you stay? B-both of you…?" Quite deep blush colored her cheeks. She felt like a foolish little girl as she asked them this but they could as well die at the next mission and she wanted to spend her time with them and…
Before she finished her thought another person walked into the room - Liara. She looked between the three people already in the room before her eyes settled on Chloe. She took a breath to speak up but the Spectre beat her to it.
"No, you're not interrupting anything and yes I want ALL three of you to stay…" It was her time to look extremely nervous and she looked on the ground worried they will leave or yell and hate her for even asking.
There was a sound of the door closing as Liara walked past the three girls and sat down on the bed. "Fine by me…" She said with a shrug as she looked at them expectantly.
Tali and Samantha exchanged a look before both of them turned to Chloe who at that moment looked like a kicked puppy. She begged them with her eyes to stay.
A little smile spread on Samatha's face as she nodded. "I guess you could have worst demands…" With that, she went to sit from one side of Liara. She actually felt good as she remembered Liara and Shepard leaving for her room last night and the fact that the commander wanted her to stay made her think that maybe her secret crush might reciprocate her feelings.
Not even a second later Tali followed to sit on the bed on the other side of the asari with the same thoughts as Samantha. "Company sounds nice…"
The commander watched the three girls sitting on the bed surprised at them all actually agreeing with her plea. "I…I…" She was at a loss for words as she watched the three. For a second she contemplated sitting on the bed with them but first, that would be a really tight fit and second she would hurt at least one of them with her choice of the place so she changed her mind and rather grabbed the chair from the table. She placed it opposite the bed and sat down. "I-I'm sorry I really don't have enough chairs…" She could fight hundreds of battles but those three girls opposite of her could still turn her into a babbling mess.
It made Liara smile as she looked knowingly at Chloe. She even took a breath to speak up but the human beat her to it.
The expression on asari's face made Chloe's eyes go wide as she knew exactly what she wanted to say. "I'm not cute!"
It made Tali chuckle softly and Liara smiled in amusement.
It was actually Traynor who spoke up with a soft smile of her own. "You totally are…" A slight blush colored her cheeks as she said it.
Shepard hid her face in her hands as she groaned. "You're all evil…"
The three girls chuckled in unison at her words.
"Remind me next time that the three of you in one room are way too powerful." One more groan from Shepard followed.
"Says the commander Shepard, first human Spectre and maybe some would argue also the most powerful human to ever live…" Traynor said with a soft smirk before Liara took over speaking: "Are you ready for all the interviews you will have to give once we defeat Saren?"
Tali was the next one to talk. "And don't forget about all the fans wanting a photo of you and an autograph…"
For the commander, it looked like the three actually talked about this beforehand just so they could tease her even tho she was 90% sure that was not the case. "As long as neither of them is Khalisah al-Jilani I think I'll manage."
Liara frowned. "Oh? Who is that?"
"One reporter that Chloe almost punched on the citadel…" Tali said before Sam took over. "AFTER Shepard roasted her in her own show. I saw the recording. I can only recommend."
"Oh? Can I have a link?" Liara asked with interest.
"Of course!" The specialist didn't hesitate with the answer.
Shepard watched Trainor using her omnitool to send Liara the link and was about to groan once more but Tali actually spoke. "Oh believe me guys, watching it live was even better!"
As the three kept their banter going Chloe actually smiled softly as her heart fluttered in that moment. Maybe her having feelings for all three isn't as bad, plus neither of them is making fun of her. The three were smiling and having fun and she did too after all.
Soon they arrived at the Ilos. Shepard decided to pick Wrex and Garrus. She knew this mission might be too dangerous so she opted to keep Liara and Tali on the ship which neither of them seemed to be thrilled about.
The way through the Ilos was quick and simple - follow Saren, find Vigil, learn more about the reapers, find the conduit and surprisingly show up on the Citadel. The presidium was in flames but Shepard didn't have time to ponder on the destruction as they were just minutes from the reaper invasion. They doubled their pace, moving as fast as possible to get to the council tower and stop Sovereign's docking. But of course that is when Saren showed up to slow them down. Luckily for Chloe, the thinking about the strategy against him worked out as she managed to talk him down and he shot himself.
It didn't seem today is her lucky day as right after that they could hear a distress call from Destiny Ascension who had the council on board. The next one was Joker asking about his orders and while Wrex and Garrus argued if they should be saving all the alliance fleets or the council Shepard made her decision. "Joker, save the ascension. No matter the cost."
Once again the day seemed to be getting worse and worse as suddenly the whole tower started to shake and Saren came back to life but way less turian-like and way more Reaper-like. The trio made a short process with him. Once the Saren was defeated Sovereign was open to attack and the Normandy managed to take him down as well.
Now with the rogue specter and one reaper defeated and the threat of reaper invasion pushed back the commander and her crew were sent to handle the rest of the geth that helped Saren.
They had been hunting them for a few days now. Sadly for the commander's personal life, she didn't get to move her relationship with any of the girls as there was always some mission or report or update to the council or Hackett asking for help so she didn't even get the chance to spend some alone time with Tali and Samantha that wasn't bothered by their work.
At least with Liara they somehow found time to be together occasionally which usually ended in soft kisses or cuddles, but every time before Chloe got enough bravery to ask the asari if she would be her girlfriend there was something that needed the commander's attention first. But there will be enough time for that later, right?
That was one of her thoughts shortly before the whole ship shook by multiple explosions and the alarms started blasting through the Normandy.
Did I rush through the end? yes!
Do I regret it? not as much as I probably should :D
