Sara found herself heading to the dresser as she left the bathroom after brushing her teeth. She heard Grissom at the bathroom sink as he stood shaving his beard. It had surprised her but beard or not beard, he was irresistible to her. She selected one of her newer necklaces and put it around her neck. It had been a gold circle with a bar hanging from the top that connected to a light blue bead. Sitting down on the bed, she pulled her shoes from under the bed and sat putting them on when Grissom returned to the bedroom.

"You look ten years younger." Sara told him as she looked up. "Still irresistible in my book though."

He held out his hands and she placed her own in them so he could pull her off the bed. "The feeling is mutual."

Reaching a hand up to rub her hand against his face, Sara leaned in and kissed him. Grissom's arm wrapped around her waist as the kiss deepened. Eventually they pulled apart and Sara grinned. "Kissing you is intoxicating whether you have a beard or not. I could do it all day, or night in our case."

"Hmm, well I decided to go through a midlife crisis and do something drastic." Sara laughed as he smirked and he kissed her again.

After a few seconds, they pulled apart and Sara ran her hand down his chest. "Work beckons."

"When does the passion end?"

"What do you mean?" She reached her hand up and ran her fingers through his curls.

Grissom observed her watching him. "The honeymoon period ended months ago but my passion and desire for you has maintained a steady course. I heard Catherine, Warrick, and Nick talking in the breakroom the other day. Warrick said the passion in his marriage ended after a few months and Catherine concurred that it was the same with her and Eddie."

"I hope it doesn't." Sara told him honestly. "I hope it stays until our last day together. I want to prove society wrong by saying it can last forever if tended to properly."

"'I loved you yesterday. I love you still. I always have and always will.'" He quoted and Sara smiled at him.

"I love you too."

Walking into the breakroom, Sara sat down with a file that she needed to review regarding a case in court. Grissom was in his office collecting assignments and messages while Catherine and the boys sat talking around the table. When he walked in a few seconds after her, Catherine was the one who spoke first about his absent beard.

"Wow, I haven't seen that face in years."

"You okay there Grissom? Not having a midlife crisis since you just hit fifty?" Nick asked sincerely before looking to Sara. "He's okay, right?" Sara said nothing and continued to review the file.

Grissom glanced down at the assignments in his hands. "Catherine, Nick, you're with me regarding a death at Cirque du Soleil. Sara, Warrick, 419 at implosion ceremony."

"Wait, implosion ceremony. Sam was due to implode The Rampart this evening." Catherine was the one to give the details.

Grissom nodded, "hence why you're with me. This is the third time Sam has had a party that included a death."

"Maybe we should have a buy three bodies, get one free card for him. I don't know, but I want in. As your supervisor…"

"I wouldn't..." Sara stated softly while still looking at her file.

"Sara," Sara looked up at her, "this is between supervisors."

The brunette looked back down at her file, "I was just warning you that you're about to get a speech."

"Catherine," Grissom pulled her attention back to him. "We agreed alternating nights and tonight is my night to distribute assignments. As it's my night and as your supervisor, you're with me and Nick. If this had come in tomorrow night, you'd have authority to nix such an idea."

Catherine tore the slip from his hand. "Fine, but Warrick leads."

"Nope, I'm out." Warrick threw up his hands. "Sara can have it because I'm not insane enough to get in a war between you two."

Sara held out hand while still reading a page from the file, her other hand had a page lifted up to read the page underneath. "That's okay." Sara looked up at Warrick as Grissom handed her the slip. "I've perfected being in the middle of a war between them."

"Alright, let's get to work." Catherine stated as she left the breakroom, Grissom shortly behind her while leaving Sara and the boys.

"The question I have is, who is going to win that war." Nick stated scratching his temple. "My money is on Catherine."

"I'm right there with you." Warrick told him as they all stood up. "What about you Greg?"

Greg shrugged, "I'm with Sara on this one. No way I'm picking one of them. Do you not remember the Luna case. We needed Hazmat for that one."

"I taught him well." Sara stated as she grinned at Nick and Warrick.

"Yeah, yeah." Warrick waved her off. "Pretty boy here just wants to suck up to Mom and Dad."

Sara laughed as they walked towards the locker room. "He's not wrong though, we did need Hazmat for that case."

"Yeah, not fun." Nick told them. "A decontamination shower with all of you. I saw way too much of all of you guys." He put up a hand, "not you and Catherine, Sara, I averted my eyes."

"Really?" Sara stated as they entered the locker room. "I didn't."

"Didn't what?" Catherine asked as she closed her locker.

"Avert my eyes in the decon shower during the Luna case."

Catherine chuckled, "oh you guys, we saw way more than we should have."

"Now hold on," Nick looked between them. "This is starting to feel like I need to speak to HR."

Sara turned to her supervisor as she pulled on her vest, "should we tell them?"

"Tell us what?"

"You guys were too busy looking down to look up. They held sheets out during the shower to cover us from view." Catherine told them. "Apparently, something happened over a year ago regarding a certain conversation being overheard in the lab. Anyways, Hazmat got a notice about making sure males and females are separated by a sheet."

Sara smirked, "you wouldn't have seen anything anyways." She closed her locker, "but it's so much fun playing with you."

"Okay, the only reason you get away with it is because of who you're married to." Catherine stated.

"Not married. At least not yet."

"Might as well be." Nick told her.

Warrick nodded. "May not have the paper but you have the rings and the attitude and the history."

"Oh and don't forget not just anyone can walk into Grissom's office without nearly being considered bug food." Greg told her.

Nick shook his head and tapped her arm as he passed. "You know the lab techs already refer to you as Mrs. Grissom."

"Sara Sidle, as in my last name is Sidle." She called after Nick. "Will be the same after married."

"Try as you might, it won't change a thing." Catherine told her with a smile. "You might as well hyphenate the name."

Arriving at the terrace, an officer immediately showed them the body and it surprised Sara that David had yet to arrive. She knew traffic could be a nightmare around implosions, people freaking out due to not knowing where to go or what was happening. Bending down beside the body, she glanced behind her to see Warrick looking around the body in the immediate area. She was already looking at the area so she made a comment about taking photos. The man understood the suggestion immediately so while he collected his camera, she waved the flashlight around, seeing the high velocity spatter. She then moved onto the victim, taking in every little thing.

"Looks like he ate a .38 special."

"The gun is still in his hand. How many suicides have you seen like that?"

She glance back at him a moment. "Personally? None."

"Me, either."

"I haven't found a suicide note." She glanced around and moved the flashlight as she went.

Warrick snapped a few more photos. "Maybe it was staged."

Hearing footsteps of a familiar kind, she rose and moved so David could bend down beside the body. "Sorry, I got held up at the 'meet the future in-laws' dinner."

"Did they love you?" Sara inquired, knowing it'd be rather hard not to like David.

"I got a little too excited talking about work. They stopped eating."

Remembering her days as a coroner's aide and how it related to her dating life after Berkeley, she nodded in understanding. "Oh."

"David, the gun is still in his hand; it's yours to clear."

Like always, formality insewed. "Yes sir."

David proceeded to attempt to remove the gun. "Rigor's setting in fast. It happens when it's hot like tonight." Suddenly there was a discharge and even the trained CSIs took a step back.

Sara looked down in concern. "Oh, are you alright?"

Warrick asked also, "you alright?"

With Warrick handling David, Sara left the cabana and informed the surrounding people that everything was alright. "It's all right everyone, a misfire."

Sara returned and kept looking around while David took liver temp even if it wasn't technically required since they knew it was during the implosion. David looked up at her, "I am so sorry, Sara."

"It's okay. Happens to the best of us."

As he read the thermometer, he looked up at Sara. "Have you met Grissom's parents? Did they stop eating when you talk about work?"

"We don't talk about work." Sara pointed her flashlight at him for a moment. "That said, they love me." The plural was because she didn't know if Grissom wanted it known his father was dead. Sara pulled off her gloves and showed him her rings. "His grandmother's ring, his mother held it under lock and key. According to him, not just anyone would have gotten it." She reached into her nearby kit and grabbed new gloves.

"I hope they don't try to convince Amy to try to find someone else."

Smiling, the brunette picked up a set of tweezers to pick up something near the victim's foot. It was a sesame seed. "I think despite your job, they found you worth loving." Placing the sesame seed in a bindle, Sara put it in her kit after signing it. She reached for a GSR test and reached for the victim's hand to take a sample. A precaution she'd started talking after an error made a year before. Once it was also stored, she stood up. "I'm going to go talk to the partner." She tapped his shoulder. "Just hang in there."

Grissom looked up from where he was reading about the condition Sara had mentioned just thirty minutes before when she stopped by to tell him about her case. Catherine had the file but she always liked to share the strange she had. The only strange thing being it was indeed a homicide and the victim had a rare condition. She walked up to his desk with an expression of uncertainty, her hands were in the back pockets of her jeans. He waited until she spoke and watched as she at one point bit her lip and was trying to mentally form the correct words. It happened on occasion before they'd speak to the other and usually over something important that they hadn't encountered before.

"I think we should get married today." Sara finally said. "I just gave our victim's personal effects to his partner and I realized in that moment that we never know what's around the corner. I know I want to marry you and I don't want to wait another day."

Closing his book, he put it aside and stood up to walk around the desk. Taking off his glasses, Grissom put them on top of a file in the file basket and took her hands. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah," Sara smiled at him. "As soon as the license office opens, I want to get one and get married."

"Hey Gil, I was just reading the report Sara dropped off regarding the suicide." Catherine walked into the office and looked up to see them. "Oh, I'll just come back."

Sara smiled. "Actually, I'd like to ask a favor Catherine."

"Okay." The redhead looked at the two. "What can I do?"

"I need your help finding a dress, last minute."

Catherine pointed to them, "you're eloping?"

"No, we're getting married. Tomorrow," he glanced at his watch, "today I mean."

The woman grinned and pointed to Sara. "You're coming with me and as for you," she motioned to Grissom, "I'm sending Brass clear instructions to get you to the location of the ceremony on time. Dressed in a suit."

"We still need to go get a license." Sara reminded her.

"Sure, but I'm driving. We're going to be there before they open so you can get it and go." She then pulled her phone and pointed a finger. "My office, the both of you at 6:45 this morning. No negotiations." She walked out while speaking to someone on the phone. "Hey Neil, Catherine Willows. I'm calling in a favor and I want the wedding chapel, garden view. Five this evening and I'm not taking no for an answer."

"I think I just created a monster." Sara stated and saw Grissom watching her. "What?"

He shook his head and pulled her hand up to kiss the back of it. "I'm just happy."

"Is five enough time to get your mother here?" Sara asked as an afterthought.

"I can send Nick to pick her up from the airport because as soon as I text her, she'll be booking a flight."

"Are you okay with this?" Sara asked as she squeezed his right hand with her left. "Us getting married today?"

Reaching his hand up, Grissom caressed her cheek and she leaned into his hand. "I'd marry you any time of day, any day of the week, any week of the year, and any year you decided."

"I love you." Sara stated while grinning. "Unreserved and infinitively

"'Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.'" He quoted to her and Sara smiled, looking away for a second before meeting his eyes again.

"You'll need to find a quote or two to say to me at the ceremony."

Grissom watched her expression. "So you want us to write our own vows?"

"If it's not a challenge for you." Sara chuckled, "we both prefer not to be constrained by traditional values and perceptions. I can honestly tell you that I will not be telling you I'll obey you."

"If you ever did that my Dear, I'd be concerned."

"At least we have one thing straight."

I forewent the story line of Catherine being scared she was raped and the kidnapping of Lindsey. I figure if Catherine was planning their wedding and Lindsey was with her, neither of those things would have happened.

Like a butterfly effect of one thing changing a whole host of things.
