Action: Welcome back, we have another chapter of ESA.

Kai: You sound like a YouTuber intro.

Action: Moving on I have a lot going on at once. This book will be finishing up, and the remake of HSD is underway, not to mention a book I've been writing in secret that will be coming out very soon. HSD the remake will be scheduled to come out on January 1st of 2024 on its sixth anniversary.

Nexus: That was a lot.

Action: We're going to just dive in too.

Milo: Last time, We had a nice heart-to-heart between brother and sister. We found out Nexus's plan to knock out other students and it worked like a charm. A bit too well as we saw fights with Corrode and Fang. As well as Percival and Angel. Not to mention the final stage includes students from Ferrum.

~Kai's~

"Welcome to the final part of your exam," all the remaining students were greeted by Dean Lumino. They gave us a day to rest after the first phase and we are all now in Evergreen Stadium. "I'd like to congratulate you all for making it this far. This phase will be the hardest phase of testing while being a student here as you all will have a chance to fight one of the nine students of Ferrum beside me," He gestured to the Pokemon standing next to him on the podium. "The rules are simple over the course of today and tomorrow there will be twenty matches total and you will have to fight one of the Ferrum students one on one. There is a catch and it is to assist you in victory all you have to do is bring them down to thirty percent of their remaining energy which can be tracked through their ORB. It may sound easy, but these are some of the strongest Ferrum has to offer, remember that," Lumino explained. Looking around these are fighters I've seen on tv and some I've had the luck of actually meeting. Like when I met Arthur during the festival. The fact that Tyler, Axel, Jason, and Blaze were my TAs. I met Michael as well during our special trip to Ferrum. After Lumino explained the rules you could see some Pokemon ready to fight while others were scared.

"Now let's draw today's set of matches," Lumino snapped his fingers, and then all twenty students' faces appeared on the jumbotron screen alongside the nine Ferrum students and then shuffled. The first match appeared. "Our first match to start the exam is an exhibition match between Arthur Drake and Jason Gon," Lumino saw the confusion on everyone's faces, but I guess he wants to kick off this whole thing with a bang.

"Sweet, I'm in the next match and I'm against the Snap Gator," Nexus sounded intrigued. "I'm excited to see how my smarts pair up to Snap's. I then thought about it as Snap is a very intellectual fighter and recently obtained a massive amount of strength, the two seem rather similar.

"Seems like I get to fight James," Pollon had a calm voice. I would have expected her to be a bit more nervous. Seems like smarts against pure power. James is known for fusing his two mega-forms together for greater power.

"I'm up against Volcan! I've been waiting for this match for a long time!" Corrode cheered and it caught all of the students off guard. From him saying that I would guess he's a fan or has a previous friendship of sorts.

"I get to fight Tyler's boyfriend," my thug-looking sister said and I snickered. Emo on emo I guess. I could see the dog looking at us and I tried hard to stifle a laugh as some of his hair covered his right eye.

As matches continued to get pulled my face didn't appear. "These are today's matches and those of you who weren't chosen for today will fight tomorrow," On screen, it showed the remaining ten students' faces. It would include Sydney, Percy, and me. "All students exit the battlefield. Arthur and Jason prepare for your opening fight," That was Lumino's last instruction.

~Arthur's~

(Edge of Existence Remix - The Gerry)

It's been a while since I had a fight in Evergreen. The place looks completely different yet it feels so familiar. It's funny too. I haven't had an official match with Jason since the Evergreen tournament when I was back in high school. I couldn't contain myself as I entered the battlefield, it seems all of the students here will be watching even if this is an exhibition match. I saw Jason also walking out and I had to take my chance and taunt him a little bit.

"I hope that with you teaching here you haven't gotten rusty," I smirked and Jason scoffed at me.

"Like I would ever let that happen. Remember, we have a common goal," Jason reminded me and he's right but for now, we must prepare ourselves.

"This will be a special match with five minutes on the clock," Lumino was the referee. "3 . . 2 . . 1, Battle Begin!" Lumino kicked off our match. Jason came at me as ropes of rock appeared from the battlefield like vines. Instead of actually using moves he's relying on his Ace power. I decided to charge in and take his attack head-on. My claws goat coated in a glossy gray as I countered the rock vines that came my way. While I was busy, Jason's aura flared purple. I guess while I'm busy he'll buff himself. It's no use. As I was dealing with his vines I felt a bit stronger physically and took my chance and charged a massive ball of flames in my claw. Sending it towards Jason it split into the symbol of fire. He was able to dodge and that's all I needed for my next attack. Was then fueled by rage as I started to stomp my feet on the ground. Typically Stomping Tantrum wouldn't be as strong as a ground-type move Earthquake but if my previous move missed its power doubles.

"I hope you don't think you have the upper hand," I taunted Jason. The ground shook and the vines crackled away as spike popped out of the earth familiar to Stone Edge towards Jason.

"I really didn't come to this match with confidence to win with our time limit and all, but let's show everyone they pale in comparison to us," I missed Jason's cockiness. Not in a romantic way, but it's been a while since I've seen my friend. His tail turned glossy like my claws earlier and smashed the rocks coming his way.

"At Least show me if you learned any new tricks," I then ran towards him. My claws then became a glossy gray as did Jason's tail and we clashed sending sparks in every direction. Even with him using Dragon Dance I'm able to keep up in terms of speed. I went sliding back as Jason struggled to fly for a second.

"Look at that power, the clash of Metal Claw and Iron Tail. They aren't giving an inch," I forgot Lumino was a commentator.

"I hope everyone likes a light show," Jason flew up, looking down at me. I then saw the Roman numeral for one appear as a faint glow on his chest. I guess we're using Ace powers, fine by me. He then got trapped in a cage of white and when it broke it revealed a form I haven't seen in a while. His wings shrunk a bit and he had four added edge wings that looked like crystals at the edge of each wing. Not to mention tassel wings at the bottom. His eye goggles expanded a bit alongside his antenna. His arms became the shape of a mantis. Not to mention his color scheme changed to that of a deep green. A sight to behold. I guess this will be a show-stopper. I forget I don't have to rely on synergy to mega evolve or to tell my ORB to release my power.

The Roman numeral for nine appeared on my chest as I got trapped in a case of white. I could feel my body fusing with hot flames and my scales were morphing to match the colors of the flames. My shark fin became more ragged and my whole body became a bit more slender. My case broke revealing my new form. I did have a chance to gain a move from my power but it was a fire-type move that didn't match my move set at the moment so I rejected it. We resumed our battle and Jason shot a massive blast in the sky that then broke into many meteors. I guess Draco Meteor is what he meant by show stopper. Cloaking myself in pure dragon energy I blitz in the sky towards Jason dodging the meteors.

"I guess that won't slow you down, try this," Jason then had a bunch of arrows appear from behind his back and they looked as if they were holograms. So his special ace move is a Thousand Arrows. I then flapped my fins and fused my Dragon Rush with the flames of Entei. I Collided with his attack and caused a smokescreen. I was sent back to the stadium floor and landed on my feet.

"Only thirty seconds on the clock!" Lumino announced. Jason and I looked at each other and knew what to do. I cloaked myself in my dragon energy ready for another Dragon Rush and went straight towards Jason. Jason decided to fight me head-on as he flew up and came crashing down in an aura of white. He bothered to learn Giga Impact. I'm impressed. With a flap of my fins, Flames fused with my Dragon rush but I wasn't done. My claws became a glossy gray and raised them above my head as I began to spin.

"I hope you like my Dragon Driver Drill!" Triple D, is my new special move.

"You're not the only one with new tricks," Jason then had earth vines appear and wrap around him adding to his power. "Here's my version of Land's Wrath!" We both crashed into each other with super-effective moves and caused a massive explosion.

"Time's up! Do we have a winner?" Lumino sounded like he was on the edge of his seat. I picked myself up from the stadium floor to see Jason passed out across from me. "We have a winner in this special exhibition match and it's Arthur Drake!" I didn't think I would actually put all my energy into that fight, oh well that means I have to get stronger. It seems Jason hasn't been slacking on training so I can say the same for our Noivern trio. Time to prepare for everything else, I decided to walk Jason off the battlefield so they could continue the final examination.

~Nexus's~

(Battle - Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna The Golden Country)

Snap Gator, a Feraligatr, he's twenty-two and a Senior at Ferrum Battle College heading to his final semester. Not to mention he is one of our fourteen Aces like me however he has more experience with his power. Though a lot of reports on him from last year at Ferrum make sense with him being unable to control his power sometimes during fights. I don't have to win, all I need to do is knock him down to thirty percent of his energy. Should be easy. I then noticed Arthur walking into the waiting area with Jason in his arms.

"Knock 'em dead," Arthur sent a smirk my way and it made me grin.

"Will the first competitor of the first match join us on the field," I could hear Dean Lumino's booming voice from here. Imagine if he had a mic. I've only ever heard his indoor voice.

"Thanks," I then walked out after getting support from Arthur. As I was walking out I could see the calm blue gator walking from the opposite direction.

"It's nice to finally meet you, though we'll have time later to talk especially since you and I share the same power," Snap definitely was pleasant however he had his left hand on his right wrist as if for a safe touch. So he's the nervous type.

"Likewise, don't go easy on me," my words caught him off guard as if he expected me to say something else. Was he planning on taking it easy on me, whatever, I prepared for battle.

"If both parties are ready I'll start the countdown. 3 . . 2 . . 1, Battle Begin!" Lumino kicked off our match. My Ax jaw glowed blue as I decided I needed to attack first. If I land this right away, I win.

"It won't be that easy," Snap looked away as rocks started to fall from the sky in my direction. Instead of attacking him, I slice at the rocks so I don't get hit. The sheer number of the rocks was overwhelming and I had to get out of there. I then noticed he had a purple aura flare around him. That's not good. He's already a very experienced fighter and stronger than me. Adding more power and speed isn't good. Though his execution was perfect to have me distracted so he could boost power just like Jason did not too long ago. I took my eyes off him for a moment to deal with the rocks and I was instantly met with a cold fist in my side. Sending me tumbling back. I didn't have enough time to prepare a Counter. I was able to get up and Snap was staring at me with a blank face.

"Why did that hurt a lot?" I was stumbling to get on my feet.

"Oh, my ability is Sheer Force so there was a power increase to that Ice punch. Not to mention I studied your fighting style to use it against you. I punched you right where your thigh meets your body which creates my own critical hit," He lectured me on his power, and another hit like that and it's over for me.

(Counter Attack - Xenoblade Chronicles 2)

"I hope you don't mind if I go all out, that's the only way for me to keep up," I got in a prepared stance.

"Be my guest but I have to remind you I'm here to go all out as well," Snap sighed as if he didn't want to do that.

The Roman numeral for five appeared on my Septum piercing and I flicked it. A white aura flared around me as I got trapped in a white cage. My scales became stronger armor on my chest and back. My arms got longer and the end of my tail became an ax. My scales are now a deeper green. As my shell broke, I was ready for Snap to throw anything my way.

He revealed he had a ring and then on his chest was the Roman numeral for ten he got trapped in a cage of white and it got fused with a bit of darkness. As it broke, this was not the normal mega form I saw on Tv. His color scheme changed to light blue and black. His back spike became more sharp and rigid going all the way down to his tail.

"ORB, scan," I commanded my ORB and it quickly scanned Snap.

"That ORB won't provide you much since this form isn't public knowledge till now thanks to me finally accepting my power's true form," Snap's voice was a bit different even bitter. It took me by surprise but this is normal from what I saw on tv. "I'm a water and dark type with my ability still being Sheer force. This form specializes in attack, special attack, and speed. Now let the fun begin" Snap came at me for close combat. A thin layer of water rushed in front of him and he surfed on it but it wasn't Surf it was different. The water then rode up and came crashing down. It was Waterfall. He came at me and I blocked with my tail and I'm lucky his ability is Sheer Force so he can't freeze me.

"One thing you should know is my ability is Weak armor," My defense went down but I got faster but it wasn't fast enough to match him. I pushed him back with my tail and unleashed the power I stored up from his attack as three beams of gray attacked Snap.

"Simple tricks like that don't work," Snap clapped his hands together and a dark shock wave went everywhere countering my Metal Burst. That was Night Daze. I still haven't landed a hit on him.

"ORB, status," I commanded and it showed our remaining energy and our stat changes. It showed I had forty percent of energy left while it showed sixty-five percent for Snap. How is that possible?

"I see you noticed my energy went down without you touching me. My overseer is Yveltal and his ace power is like a double-edged sword even if I don't transform. For each fight I'm in I have a time limit," Snap explained and then instantly resumed the fight. Rocks started to fall from the sky again and I started to run parallel to Snap as I've learned he can only make them fall in straight lines. Though he is quick as he appeared next to me in seconds. His fists were coated in ice. I was fueled by complete rage as I decided to counter his fists with my Outrage. During my Outrage, I decided it was time to use two strong moves at once forcing my ax jaw to turn light blue. However, Snap grabbed my jaw and I tried to flail him around to no avail. When I went to throw him up he let go and was up in the sky. Looked like he took the opportunity to prepare an attack and I could see dark energy spark around him. He clapped his hands and NightDaze filed the areas as he began to surf on his Waterfall through the air.

"I call this The Death Zone where all who enter find it hard to move, even me that's why I use Waterfall to move freely," He was right I was finding it hard to move and he was moving like a kid on a slip and slide.

"Battle over, Winner Macalister Nexus!" Lumino announced as Snap had me against the ropes but then I remembered his power drains his energy. We were both forced to revert back to normal and Snap landed back on the battlefield looking me in the eyes.

"Thanks for the match, guess I overdid it with my new special move, but we both know I had you. If you ever want to fight again, come find me," His voice was back to normal and he had a smile on his face.

"Gladly," We both then made our way off the battlefield.

~Kai's~

I decided to stop by in my room since it's been a bit since I was last there, lucky I don't have to move out till next semester. I made sure as I was walking I had Pollon's match playing on my ORB. She was today's fourth match as Nexus was the first match. Nix is the eighth match and Volcan is the tenth and final match today. Pollon has definitely gotten stronger since we started school. Though with no surprise James had control of the fight. So far the only one to pass is Nexus. This may be rigged in the Aces' favor. Yet in the last matches with Tyler and Blaze, they didn't use their power. I guess they were told to use the same power as the student. I made it to my room and turned on the tv in the living room to the matches in our stadium so I could turn my ORB off. I then noticed there were snacks on the counter. They were sugar cookies, which I remember Nexus said helps him sleep if he eats one of two. I waved my hand over them and realized they were still warm. He must've made them recently. That's when I heard some shuffling and then Nexus's door opened up revealing himself shirtless in shorts. I blushed at the sight and took some cookies and placed them on the napkin so he couldn't see my blush.

"Your back," That's all he said. I didn't know how to respond. I went to the couch and just stared at him. I'm not mad at him, I'm just not sure what to say especially after my chat with Nix.

"I am," I let the silence sit as he stared at me from the door frame. "You did great in your fight with Snap," I gave him a compliment and I felt so awkward.

"Cheap compliment," Nexus stabbed me right in the stomach with that comment. "Can we just sort this out, we've been awkward around each other since the Class Change Tournament, others we'd known could even say since Homecoming," I could hear the frustration in his voice.

"My bad since you and Fang started dating it's hard for me to approach you," I made my frustration clear. Nexus wasn't prepared for that response and then laughed. "Why are you laughing? I had to do a trial run with Jai, Fight my dad, and talk with my sister to understand that I like you. Not to mention I lost memories of us as children and they miraculously play at random times. The fact that I would call you Tusks or the fact you would call me Puffy is fucking adorable and I wish I could remember more of when we were children. Then I realized I was too late when Fang was all over you every second," I went on a rant and Nexus continued laughing at me.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for you to go through so much just to get to me," Nexus then recomposed himself and sat next to me. "As you and Jai did a trial run, so did Fang, and I thought that only lasted two weeks since I stopped by his room before coming back to actually talk about us not being able to date," I still had a pink flush across my face but I felt better.

"Then why hang around him so much?" I was confused.

"Genuinely, I wanted to make you jealous," He said with a gleam in his eye. "I've wanted you since I arrived here, but it seemed like you didn't remember me so I had to back off. Wouldn't be a little weird for a big dragon like me you seemingly didn't know to just fall in love with you," He chuckled.

"I mean yes," I became a bit bashful. I rarely feel like this but it feels good to drop my guard around him.

"This isn't some fairytale where we start dating. We burned our initial bridge so let's build one that is stronger. When this is all over an official match between you and me," Nexus placed a quick kiss on my lips.

"Yeah, I accept," when I said that Lumino's loud voice came through the tv.

"Look at that James broke through Pollon's Psychic and is about to head into her Crescent Moon Shield! Will his Flare Blitz paired with Hurricane win or will Pollon's Shield dish out the final damage, " In the fight's final moments, the two moves collided. Both standing still on the battlefield. Through the editing of the live feed, It showed Pollon had ten percent energy left while James was at thirty percent. "The winner is Pollon Strife!" Lumino announced as she fell to her knees as she went back to normal. James in comparison just morphed back and looked as if he was slightly panting. They are no joke and I know it as we practiced with Tyler and Axel in his backyard and they held nothing back.

"Well then it's you vs me," Nexus commented as he rubbed his eyes while walking away to his room.

~Corrode's~

(Jet Set Run - My Hero)

It was my time to shine as I finally had this chance and the whole school will see this. I haven't had the chance yet to sit down with Volcan, Snap, or Flora. Yet I recently learned that Snap and the Charizard are a thing and I find that good for him. I may be younger, but he could serve to be a bit bolder and James seems good.

"Our final match today is Corrode Gaia vs Corrode Overcrest, one of the toughest college students across all regions," Dean Lumino announced. "We've had some amazing matches today, yet amazing doesn't mean they passed. So far only two students have passed. Will Corrode join Nexus and Pollon or will he fall and join the rest," Lumino continued to announce as I walked on the battlefield. Volcan was doing the same thing and I could see the smirk on his face.

"This may not be a full-on fight, but if you are able to pass I'll consider this a win in your sea of losses," Volcan taunted me. I laughed at his provocation knowing he was being serious too.

"No, let's not count this. This is an exam afterward you and I will have a one-on-one without special rules," I could see he agreed.

"Well then pall, let the fight do the talking. I've been waiting for this," Volcan was always ready for a fight.

"If both fighters are ready we will begin. 3 . . 2 . . 1, Battle Begin!" Instantly the area became warm and an explosion was set off to my right so I dodged to my left.

"A simple feint and you fell for it," Volcan was instantly in front of me and I fell for his trap. His hands glowed white as he started to spin into me and I tried to counter By charging energy into my paws to guard with Focus Blast. With the two power attacking it was a stalemate, sending us both sliding back. I'm not surprised Gyro Ball should be used if you're slower and even after taking the mint Volcan is faster than me. I then noticed a red aura flare around him and then fade away. His paws started to spark a bit in reaction. His ability Berserk isn't in play here so what did he do"

"ORB, scan," I commanded.

'Here's the battle data,' I looked at it and he used the move Curse. He's even more dangerous now. With an ability like Berserk boosting special attacks when you're in danger and now lowering speed to boost attack and defense. He's able to raise all-important stats and overall boost the power of Gyro Ball.

"I hope you like this moveset. Normally I'm not contained to four moves after being in Ferrum for the last three years, but let's say I got a handle on normal battles too," Volcan came at me again but used an Explosion so his speed deduction wouldn't affect him. It's almost as if nothing can stop him. His hands glowed white as he spun again. I need room to breathe and he knows this, it takes time to set up my one hit K.O. This time I launched a beam of Ice at him and with him spinning he deflected the beam to the other sides of the battlefield, creating shards and walls of ice. This time he hit me, sending me sliding back. This was the break I needed and quickly dashed to the other side of the battlefield. To which I unleashed my Focus Blast. Volcan turned around and unleashed another Explosion at my side but I took it full on as I punched the battlefield. It started to split as molten lava started to erupt. If he was smart he would dodge. When I looked over at him his aura flared red again meaning he used Curse. What surprised me is he jumped up and took the Focus Blast at full force and used its momentum to dodge my Earth Power. I then noticed his flames turned from red to blue. I looked at my ORB screen and it showed his speed is down by two. His attack, defense, and special attack are up by two. This man is wilder than before. His normal fighting style was just explosion and boosting special attack, now he's boosting all stats basically. It won't be too soon before he can boost his stats and lower his opponents

"Look at that everyone, Volcan is just piling on the stat boost!" Lumino commented. What's good to know is from that attack alone it brought him down to half his energy. The bright side is he only landed some weak explosions on me.

"Seems like I need to bring this to a close," I didn't know what he meant. Instantly everything around me seemed distorted and I found it hard to even see all of Volcan. Next thing I know I'm shot with an explosion behind me and being pushed forward. I'm still struggling to make out Volcan's form and then I felt a massive pressure spin into me. Sending me tumbling back. To my luck, I was able to regain my vision but felt weaker. When I got up, Volcan was staring right at me. "Are you still willing to fight? You must be tired," his cocky tone masked the concern in his words.

"I'm fine and that little combo you did of Extrasensory to explosion to Gyro Ball was amazing," I had to compliment it.

(The Shackled Wolves (Mashup) - Jolo Somnium Files)

"Oh, so you realized what move it was. I was hoping to mask it as something else so I could use it as a secret weapon for next semester," Volcan shrugged. "Oh well," We resumed our match and it was my turn to ramp it up. I punched the ground once more causing the ground to split as lava spewed up. As Volcan was dodging it gave me time to charge a ball of pure energy in one claw and a ball of water in the other.

"I'm not giving you room to breathe," Sending both Water Pulse and Focus Blast his way while trapped in a field of lava he has to take one attack. He needs to be overwhelmed or run out of energy if you want to win. He rarely loses. He lost to Axel in the Summer Festival when he ran out of energy because in reality, Axel stalled him out. It was the same way when we were younger but even when I knew his weakness I could never win. None of us did. It looked as if he was preparing to unleash a massive explosion and I quickly needed to divert his focus. I shot a beam of ice which caught him off guard and then massive flames appeared around him and then all the attacks that I launched at him. The explosion even reached me ripping up the battlefield.

"Talk about a powerful Blast Burn," Lumino cheered. So that is the move he used. I bet he meant to keep the damage to a minimum, but I distracted his concentration. I landed on my back and as the smoke cleared I saw him there with a few marks all over his body. The match wasn't called yet meaning we still had a fight on our hands.

"Seems like I went a bit overboard," he was panting. I know he has a special power and yet he's not using it, is he not allowed to? No matter if I have an opportunity, after using Blast Burn the user has to take time to recover. I quickly charged a ball of water in my palms and blasted it at Volcan. I then notice a stalactite form and then crumble as if it is an accident. Was that Volcan? Instead in the final moments of the Water Pulse coming towards him, he tried to set off an explosion. It was fire against water and there was a clear victor.

"With that final attack, our final winner of the day is Corrode Gaia!" Lumino cheered my name. I passed the final exam.

~Nix's~

(ESA Final Arc Ending - NebbytheSolgaleo)

I failed, I thought maybe I could pass even if I didn't have the unique power that the top elite students have or Pollon. I decided it would be best if I didn't celebrate with the others and came home alone. I mega-evolved and that dark dog beat me in his standard form. I didn't think they were that much stronger than us, they are only two to three years older than us. It was weird though whenever I mega-evolve it feels like I get consumed by darkness. I then heard a knock on the door.

"Jinx, open up," I already knew who it was with their demanding voice.

"The door is open Father," I heard the door open and I could already feel my Father's eyes on me.

"What a pitiful match I have to say I'm disappointed," his voice was enough to kill any lingering spirit I had.

"Tell me something I don't know," I countered.

"Don't interrupt me," his voice was calm, but make no mistake of my Father's authority. "You show promise, more than your brother. I just needed to see when the flower would bloom," what is this man talking about? I turned around to look at him and he had a smirk on his face. "You will be taking an internship with me next semester and I can show you what it means to be a fighter unlike your soft brother," my dad didn't leave me a choice. Yet it sounded promising if he thinks I'm ready and gives me a chance to see what he does firsthand.

"When do we start?" I asked.

"That's what I like to hear. Don't worry I'll come find you," he then left my room and all I felt was the need to be stronger.

Action: Another chapter is done and we have another two to go.

Kai: Not to mention the special extra chapters.

Action: I'm not worrying about that right now as I have to prepare for a new book and a remake.

Nexus: So he'll get to the extra stuff when he can.

Pollon: Sounds like he's lazy.

Corrode: No, guys, just a lot of life changes, maybe?

Jason: Can we just end the chapter?

Tyler: It's my turn. Up next: We have the last three matches against the Ferrum students and of course, yours truly gets to fight this time and you'll never guess my opponent.
