Chapter 11: Rise of Green Goblin
Evil comes in many forms. We have seen how ruthless beings emerge in this story. We have seen how supervillains have emerged from the shadows to achieve their goals. Whether they are understandable or not. However, what happens when a being so ruthless and cruel emerges that it could be much worse than the previous villains. We will see how a monster is born.
It was a quiet night at Oscorp Industries. At those times there were no staff in the offices. The only one there was the owner of the company, Norman Osborn. He made sure no one saw him and he took the elevator to the last level underground. In that place there was a classified laboratory. Only Norman and certain trusted scientists were allowed inside. On that specific night there was only one scientist who was the head of operations. This scientist looked tense and worried.
"Mr. Osborn, please...There is no need to do the tests now. The GM serum is not ready and we haven't done enough testing yet" The chief scientist said worriedly.
"Don't be a coward. Risk is part of science" Norman said confidently.
"Sir, with the necessary equipment and a volunteer it is enough. Just give me a month" The scientist tried to convince him.
"One month? By then it will be too late. If I want to keep the agreement between Oscorp and the National Army, I need the serum for the super soldier program as soon as possible. I can no longer ask for more contract extensions. Why do you think he was pressuring Connors? For pleasure? No! Because Oscorp executives are putting pressure on me. This project will be the salvation of the company. I can't risk everything I've invested my entire life on these kinds of mistakes" Norman explained why he was taking risks. He was preparing to be the test subject for the generic alteration serum. He lay down on a stretcher and the scientist tied him up to start the process. He simply prepared a syringe with a mysterious substance. He thought long and hard before injecting it into his own boss. But he knew that this was his will. So, fearfully but obediently, he injected Norman with the serum "AAAAAGGGHHHH!"
"MR. OSBORN!" The scientist was concerned when he saw that Norman was convulsing in pain and his eyes were rolling back. What they didn't know is that Norman's DNA was being altered. His muscle mass increased slightly, making him stronger and more agile. After much pain, he fell unconscious on the stretcher "Mr. Osborn, please wake up! Mr. Osborn!" The scientist was scared to see him in that state. He tried to do CPR when he saw that he had no pulse and his heart rate was at zero. But something horrible was about to happen. Unexpectedly, the heart rate returned to a higher than normal level. Norman's eyes widened frighteningly with his new green eyes. Using his newfound super strength, he broke free of the gurney's restraints and grabbed the scientist around the neck tightly and began to choke him "Ahhhhh!"
"So you needed another month? Do not be ridiculous" Norman said that with a terrifying tone. He simply threw the scientist against a wall so hard that he instantly killed the scientist. The company owner didn't even feel sorry for the person he just killed. All he did was laugh maniacally. Something had definitely been born in Norman Osborn.
The next day, he woke up in his room with a severe headache, as if he had woken up with a hangover. He couldn't remember what happened the night before. However, he acted naturally. That same day, he dropped his son Goby Osborn off to high school and immediately, he went to the Oscorp Industries headquarters for an important meeting with company executives to discuss various important issues. And this was one of them.
"...To this day, OSCORP Industries has become the main supplier of the national military, surpassing the competition. In short, ladies and gentlemen, costs are down, profits are up, and stocks are worth more than ever" Norman explained the updates of the company's progress.
"That's excellent news, Mr. Osborn. Unfortunately, we have other news that is not pleasant. The National Army wants to break the agreement with Oscorp Industries, and if this happens, the company will go bankrupt in less than a year" The executive director of the board said seriously.
"It just can't be! The serum project is in its final stage! We almost have it!" Norman said nervously.
"It seems that this is no longer enough for them. However, they are willing to renegotiate the deal...If we sell the company to them" The director explained.
"W-What?! It must be a joke!" Norman said bothered.
"There is a lot of capital at stake with this deal. We will end up earning more. Although one of the terms that the board of directors agreed to is that... you resign from your position in less than thirty business days" Another member explained.
"Do they want to put me out of business?!" Mr. Osborn asked bothered.
"What we least want is an economic conflict where we get hurt. The committee cannot negotiate if we do not comply with the demand that they request: They no longer want you at the head of Oscorp" Another member explained with detail. Norman felt betrayed by his workers.
"You can't do this to me! I...I...I created this company...YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED?!" Norman screamed angrily. The members were silent. Norman took a deep breath and tried to calm down. Now he was sad "Please...Reconsider your options...Please...I...I...You can't just throw me away...Because of me this company has prospered...It's the job of all my life...I worked hard to get the company forward..."
"Sorry, Norman. You're out of business" The director said seriously.
"It's not fair...My career...Think of me...Think of my son..." Norman continued insisting.
"The decision has been made. There is no turning back. It's nothing personal, it's just business. You more than anyone will understand" The leader of the council said.
"...Ok...just let me take my things..." Norman said quietly. Silently, he got up. He turned his back on the group and slowly withdrew. When no one saw him, he smiled macabrely "I'm out of business? Rather ALL OF THEM are out!"
Now we will focus on our protagonist who has just returned home after spending a busy day. First, he spent his day as a student, then delivering Jameson's photos of Spider-Guppy, then he went to visit his aunt who was in the hospital who was still failing with heart complications. Also, he adds responsibility as Spider-Guppy. Keeping the city safe and continuing with the search for his friend who has become a giant reptile hidden in the city sewers. Those were horrible and lonely days for him. Now he arrived at his house and there was no one to receive him. He had to take responsibility for the house, as if he didn't already have enough responsibilities.
"(sigh) What a tiring day... But at last, I will be able to sleep peacefully…" He said that before he turned on the television and saw that something terrible was happening on the news.
"Breaking news: There have been fires in several places in the city. It has been confirmed that the fires were caused by explosives. The places that were set on fire were the homes of Oscorp workers who were found dead. At this very moment, a fire is in progress in the main tower of Oscorp Industries. The authorities have called for calm and will take care of emergency processes"
"The Oscorp Tower! There are Goby and Norman!" Gil said scared before putting on his hero suit and quickly left his home to go to Oscorp Industries where his best friend and his father were. What he did not expect was that something horrible was waiting for him.
A few moments before, we can see Goby with Molly on the top floor of the Oscorp Tower.
"Thanks for joining me. I didn't want to go home alone. I usually go with Gil or Dad, but they were both busy" Goby said with a smile.
"It was a pleasure, Goby. We are good friends after all" Molly said kindly.
"Speaking of Gil...you were able to talk to him. I have spoken little with him. He hasn't been the same since the Nonny incident" Goby asked worriedly.
"He has been very busy. Also, let's remember that his aunt May has been in the hospital very delicately. I feel that he needs our help. He shouldn't go through this alone" Molly said sadly.
"You're right, but sometimes Gil is weird. He is my best friend, but I must admit that he has been acting very strangely. He has missed many commitments, he is late, he makes many excuses, and I admit that sometimes I see him very tired ... I guess you have noticed it too" Goby explained his observations.
"You're right about that. It's like he's hiding something. What will that mystery be? And why doesn't he tell us? The mysterious side of him... I must admit that makes him look somewhat attractive" Molly confessed with a goofy smile.
"Hehe….You like him, don´t you?" Goby smiled michevelously.
"Wh-What?! N-No! I only like him as a good friend...And what about you? Don't you like Deema?" Molly blushed a lot. Goby just giggled.
"Maybe….Changing the subject...Where is dad?" He decided to go into a conference room with Molly. He noticed that the Oscorp executives were in the room. Goby sensed that his father could be there "Ahem…Excuse me….Have any of you seen my father?"
"Not really. But he was supposed to come to this conference" One of the members of the CEOs said confusedly. At that moment, something horrible happened.
BOOM!
A huge explosion destroyed the window and part of the ceiling of that room. The debris hit some people seriously. The middle of the smoke, a mysterious flying figure appeared. It was a mysterious adult guppy in green combat armor with a purple cape and hood. He possessed a green mask that took the shape of a goblin's face with pointy ears and a terrifying grin. He was flying thanks to a technological glider.
"HAHAHAHA!" The subject laughed in a macabre and terrifying way.
"But what is that thing?!" One of the members of the council asked, terrified.
"SO I'M OUT OF BUSINESS?!" The subject said that evilly before throwing a bomb that had the appearance of a Halloween pumpkin-style sphere at them.
"Wait?! It just can't be!" One of them suspected something before.
BOOM!
The bomb exploded in front of them, killing them instantly. In that conference room, only Goby and Molly were alive. They tried to get out, but the exit was blocked by debris. The mysterious flying subject approached them with his hovercraft.
"Hello, my dear!" He said that in a terrifying way directly to the pink haired girl.
"Ahhhh!" Molly was scared. Goby wanted to protect her, even though he knew he couldn't face the new villain.
"That's no way to address a lady, you flying maniac"
"What the-?" The flying villain turned to look and was surprised to see Spider-Guppy swinging to kick him with her tail. The new villain was shot down with his glider. But he quickly recovered and began to fly with his glider.
"Spider-Guppy!" Molly and Goby said happily.
"I see you put on a Halloween costume before october" Spider-Guppy mocked him.
"Well, well, well...But look who came...The guy in the striped pajamas...Spider-Guppy! It's a pleasure to see you here... Let me introduce myself: Call me The Green Goblin! Too bad you won't live much longer, little spider" He said before he threw two pumpkin bombs at him to finish him off easily. But Spider-Guppy used his webs to catch the bombs and throw them into the air and they exploded in a safe area.
"That's all you got, Goblin?" The masked hero challenged him.
"Oh no, my spider friend! I'm just starting the game!"
The new battle has begun! Spider Guppy vs. Green Goblin! The new villain opted for a strategy of attacks from a distance. He would throw Spider-Guppy his classic pumpkin bombs and he would also throw flying daggers that spun like boomerangs. Also, his fearsome glider had hidden gimmicks like machine gun type cannons and rocket launchers. That made fighting this villain at long range deadly. Spider-Guppy used his reflexes, agility, and webbing to carefully dodge all attacks. The Green Goblin was flying around Spider-Guppy with his glider always looking to keep his distance. Spider-Guppy decided to use his webbing to catch the hooded villain and throw him off the glider, falling to the ground. Well, he was looking for a hand-to-hand confrontation. Although the villain did not have his ship, he was just as deadly hand to hand. Because he was fighting the hero well with his physical abilities like superhuman strength, agility, stamina. In addition, he had devices such as electric shocks or knives.
Spider-Guppy managed to hit him a few times, but on the last hit, Green Goblin managed to catch the fist and with that managed to knock him to the ground. The villain decided to get back on his glider.
"Not bad, my dear wall-crawling friend! But it's time to level up the difficulty!" Green Goblin said teasingly before he flew straight towards Molly and Gil and he took the girl.
"MOLLY!" Goby tried to save her, but the armored man kicked him out of his glider.
"AHHHHH!" Molly screamed scaredly.
"Fear not, girl! We'll just take a little night walk. HAHAHA!" Green Goblin laughed maniacally before quickly flying through the night city.
"Leave her now!" Spider-Guppy shouted.
"If you want the girl, come get me!" He said before he left the place with Molly in his hands.
"LET ME GO, CRAZY ELF!" Molly screamed in fear.
"Resist!" Spider-Guppy said heroically and the chase started.
"Ha ha ha! This is getting more and more fun!" Saying that, lightning struck near them and the chase began on a rainy night.
Spider-Guppy was swinging through the city chasing the glider where the Green Goblin is traveling with Molly Jane Watson as hostage. The terrifying villain would not make things easy for the hero. So he would throw his pumpkin bombs at the hero, as well as shoot the missiles from his tech glider. Thanks to spider instinct, the masked superhero managed to dodge his attacker's explosive attacks. He needed to get there fast to get his beloved out of harm's way. Green Goblin decided to stop at the top of a building to wait for the spider hero.
"Hahaha! Come here if you have the guts!" The goblin taunted the hero into going straight for him. Spider-Guppy just wanted to quickly save Molly, but he didn't expect that the villain was preparing a hidden blade to impale the hero with the intention of ending his life.
"Leave him alone!" Molly managed to push the Green Goblin away from killing Spider-Guppy, ruining their trap. Spider-Guppy arrived to punch him in the face.
"Thank you very much, beautiful lady! But stay safe while I deal with the crazy in the cheap costume" Spider-Guppy said with a funny tone of voice.
"Says the one who wears pajamas Hahaha!" Green Goblin sneered before remounting his glider and laughing as he activated his glider's cannons to shower the two targets with bullets. Spider-Guppy managed to take cover with Molly on a small wall. Not content with that, she tossed a spinning blade at him. But he didn't expect Spider-Guppy to use the web to catch the blade and throw it straight into one of the glider's turbines, causing sparks to fly and it flying erratically. Green Goblin had to hold on tightly to his glider to avoid falling several meters high "AAAAHHH! WE WILL MEET AGAIN, SPIDER-GUPPY!" He yelled before immediately running away. Although before leaving, he left a surprise gift. One of his pumpkin bombs went off on top of the tower they were on, causing Spider-Guppy and Molly to fall several feet off the roof.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" Molly screamed scaredly. As they fell, Spider-Guppy managed to catch her in his laps and before they were hit with the ground, the hero used one of his webs to avoid hitting the ground. And so they both slowly went down and reached the ground safely. Molly felt safe in the arms of her hero.
"Are you okay?" Spider-Guppy asked her.
"Y-Yeah….That was very dangerous...And you were very brave...Thank you very much" Molly said with a bit of blush on her cheeks.
"Oh, it was nothing. I just did my duty. Well, I have to go" Spider-Guppy said before quickly leaving using his webs.
"W-Wait…I…I…(sigh) He's gone" Molly said sadly when she lost sight of him.
"Did you want to tell me something before I left?" Spider-Guppy asked amusingly from behind her. She was surprised to see that the hero was hanging upside down behind her.
"H-How did you….?" Molly asked surprisedly.
"Hmmm This is like magic tricks, if I told you it wouldn't be special anymore" He said funnily.
"Hehehe…You´re funny…" She giggled a bit "I just wanted to say thank you very much. You are incredible and you make this city a better place... It's just... I know you're not used to people really appreciating your work" The pink-haired guppy said with a kind tone of voice.
"(sigh) Some do not think the same ... Many actually" He said with a low tone of voice. He reminded some people that still consider him a public threat like Jameson even though he has saved many people.
"But...you're actually a hero...and brave...hey...I want to show you how grateful I am…" Molly said that with a loving tone before taking SPider-Guppy's face gently. She began to lower the mask little by little. The only thing it showed was his chin and his mouth.
"H-Hey…W-Wait…" Spider-Guppy said nervously. He thought that she wanted to remove his mask. Although she was tempted to find out who Spider-Guppy really was, she respected the secret identity and didn't. She just wanted him to show his lips. Shyly, she approached, cupped his face and gave him a soft, slow kiss on the lips. Both young people sharing an inverted kiss in the rain. A classic and romantic scene of our favorite superhero. We can't deny that Spider-Guppy didn't enjoy the kiss. He felt that his greatest wish was being fulfilled. They both enjoyed that moment. Although Molly was tempted to remove his mask from him at that moment. Spider-Guppy sensed that and decided to go quickly on his web. Molly just giggled and smiled with an intense blush on her face.
"YAHOO!" Spider-Guppy squealed in excitement as he swayed through the rainy night. Evidently, Gil couldn't take his excitement and would finally leave happy that night. Even though the mysterious Green Goblin had escaped, it wasn't all bad that night.
That night Gil Parker was able to sleep peacefully and with a lovesick smile on his face. If his Aunt May were there, she would ask him a lot of questions. But that was not the case. Even though things weren't going well, there were little moments that he could feel some happiness in such unpleasant moments. That kiss would be a difficult memory to forget. Although that generated some thoughts. Molly likes Spider-Guppy, it seems. But... what if she knew who the person under the mask was? She was about to find out if he had been carried away by desire. That worried him a bit. However, that night something else was bothering him... Where did that villain called Green Goblin appear from? There is something in that supervillain different from the others. Could it be that he finally found his greatest enemy? He only had one thing for sure: it was not going to be the last time he had to face the Green Goblin.
Wow, so this chapter was kind of exciting. First, here marks the debut of the maniacal and evil Green Goblin, arguably Spider-Man's greatest villain. And second, we finally got a glimpse of Gil and Molly's romance (from a certain point of view). What more can you ask for from this chapter? With the rise of this powerful villain, things will get more intense and dangerous.

The next morning, Norman Osborn woke up in his bed calmly as if nothing had happened. Everything was going smoothly, he just had a cup of coffee to start his day until he felt that someone was close to him. He managed to hear something that made him terrified.
"HAHAHAHAHA!" That terrifying laugh left him with goosebumps. Norman was looking around the room to see if anyone was there.
"W-W-Who are there! Sh-Show yourself!" Norman said nervously.
"The Great Norman Osborn...The Genius...The Billionaire...And in the end he's just a scared kitten…" The mysterious voice said.
"Where are you?!" Norman shouted scaredly.
"Here!" Norman turned back and saw something terrifying. He saw another Norman Osborn sitting on his favorite sofa while he had a glass of wine in his left hand.
"W-What? I…I…I don´t get it" He was shocked.
"What? It's never too early for a good wine...isn't it, Norman?" The "Other Norman" said before finishing the wine in one swallow and throwing the glass on the floor, breaking it.
"What the hell are you? What do you want?" Mr. Osborn asked with fear.
"Say what you don't say. Do what you don't do. Eliminate those who stand in our way" The "Other Norman" said that before throwing a newspaper at Norman. Mr. Osborn picked up the newspaper and saw something terrifying on the front page. It was the headlines that surprised him.
"Oscorp Executive Directors killed with explosives in the Oscorp Tower. Mysterious Flying Assassin is still on the loose. Oscorp Scientists Killed In Their Homes Moments Before Tower Explosion"
"You killed them!" Norman said scaredly.
"WE killed them!" The "Other Norman" replied with an evil smile.
"What do you mean "we"?" Mr. Osborn asked fearfully.
"Did you forget the little incident in the lab?" The evil version of Norman asked evilly. The Oscorp boss took a while to understand what he wanted to say.
"Oh…The Genetic Modification Serum I've been working on!" He remembered when he put himself on the serum that night.
"Bingo! Me, your greatest creation, giving you what you have always wanted. Power beyond your wildest dreams! And that's not all! This is just the beginning! There is only one person capable of stopping us" This kind of hallucination was Green Goblin with the form of Norman.
"Who is that person?" He asked fearfully.
"That damned wall-crawling vermin...Just imagine what would happen if he joined us! HAHAHAHAHA!" Something really bad was going on in Norman's mind.
