Thank you for reading. I hope that the climax to the action isn't going to be a disappointment. I feel like I've built it up and I don't know how to pay it off. So really if you any constructive comment, advice then I would really like to hear them. I really struggle with writing action. So I really hope its not to bad and I'm sorry if it is.

When he heard his name being called by a voice he knew so well, a voice that Mordred had not heard in what felt like a very long time and he feared he might never hear again Mordred froze and spun around. Kara ran so fast that at first he doubted it was really her. He couldn't get a clear look at her face. Her sandy brown hair flew wildly getting into her grey blue eyes. That was alright, she didn't really need to see exactly where she was going. She just had to keep moving straight ahead. Eventually she would reach him.

When she was inches away Mordred was about to say her name, but it and the air in his lungs was knocked out of him as she jumped, throwing her arms around his neck. Holding on as tightly as she could, not wanting to ever let him go again. Not truly believing or understanding how she had been able to leave him before. If he yet her, she would never make that mistake again.

Mordred's instinct was to wrap his arms around Kara, but he didn't get the chance. The force that she hit him with knocked his balance. The weight of his armour stopped him from correcting his balance and he fell backwards on to the ground with a loud crash and thud, that masked the groan that he let out. finally now though he could return the hug, which Kara had not let go. Not even lessening her grip even slightly.

Merlin and Morgana ran towards the hill. It was not far, but they didn't want to waste any time that they didn't need to. Just as they saw it begin to gently rise before them they saw a blur of movement before them. It was hard to make out at first what was happening. They could see flashes of armour, but it was covered by a dark blue buddle. They stopped for a second, but when Kara rolled off of Mordred, reluctantly ending the hug and letting the knight breath, Morgana and Merlin saw who they were and quickly understood what was going on.

Morgana's heart at the sight of Kara dropped into her stomach. The young couple were clearly happy to see each other. Whatever matters that they had to resolve between them, they obviously still cared deeply for each other. Yet at the sight of both of them still sent a chill down her spine. Deep down she was happy to finally see them together, reunited, but fear won out and kept her frozen as her heart thumped against her chest and her whole body tensed up. She was pulled out of her racing mind by a sympathetic hand on her shoulder.

It was not hard for Merlin to read the conflicting emotions that played out across Morgana's face. As happy and relived as she was to see them both in person, know that they were safe and together. She knew there was no granite that they would stay safe for long. There was now one other person here that she would do anything she could to protect. With all that was going on, here was something else to deal with. Fear now began to grow in the Warlock now as well.

"What are you doing here." Morgana finally found her voice as anger became the emotion that won out.

Able to move again as well, she moved forward with large strides towards Mordred and Kara as they pulled themselves up. Kara now standing kept her head lowered as she suddenly felt like a small child once again. Mordred who was used to facing the witches anger, kept his head held high as he took a half step in front of Kara.

"Morgana.." He tried to divert her attention, but she was not swayed. Morgana remained focused on Kara.

When she finally stood in front of the younger women Morgana let out a deep breath, which did a lot to quell her anger. She was about to ask her question, but the words stuck in her throat. Instead she placed her hands on Kara's shoulder. Subtly trying to force Kara to met her eyes. Reluctantly Kara sighed and met the queens eyes.

"Why are you here." Morgana asked, her voice much gentler now. Sad almost

Kara looked at Mordred standing next to her as she answered. "I don't know, I just...felt that I had to come here."

"Right now, you needed to come right now." As Morgana spoke her anger, that she knew was unwarranted began to rise again a little.

Mordred once again tried to distract the witches anger. "What can that matter now."

"It matters." Morgana snapped as she took her hand's from Kara's shoulders and turned to fully face Mordred. "It matters because...now."

"You don't have to protect me. I can take care of myself." Kara said, hoping to sound more sure of herself than she felt.

Morgana closed her eyes as she took in a deep breath. Merlin, who had been slowly moving towards the group was about to once again place a hand on her shoulder. Hoping to calm her down a little. Before he could her eyes opened and she turned to face Kara again.

"It's not that simple."

"Yes it is." Kara bit back, anger now growing in her too. She was not a child, had never really been one. Had any of them.

She did not need Morgana or anyone to protect her. This did not mean that she was foolhardy or stupid enough to believe that she didn't now or even need help from others. Right now she was not only capable of taking care of her self, but she could also help. Exactly how she wasn't sure, but she knew that she could do some good.

While the two witch's had been arguing, Mordred had been trying to think of a way to resolve everything. He could only think of one way to do that and he was not overly pleased about it. It was the best way he knew how to keep Kara safe and keep his vow to fight however he could to protect and defend Camelot.

"We'll stay here and control the fire."

"What." Morgana questioned as she and the other two turned to Mordred confused.

"Kara and I will take over the control of the fire from Luke, so the three of you can help on the frontline."

Morgana was unconvinced by what the young knight was saying. It make the most sense. It definitely would make her worry less about them. She knew though that while he offered to do it, that it had been his idea, Mordred was not really happy about the idea. Every few seconds his eyes dart to some point in the distance. He could be keeping watch in case any of the saxons had not been pushed forward by the fire. She suspected that he was still feeling a pull to join his fellow knights. Even with Kara here now. Standing right next to him. Her hand, Morgana noticed now in his.

"You would do that." Morgana asked, fearing the answer.

"Yes." Mordred answered right away as he tightened his hold on Kara's hand. She held it back just as tight as she nodded in agreement.

Morgana suddenly felt tear welling up at the relief that washed over her. His hand had been aiming to land on her shoulder as it had before, but just as Merlin was about to rest it down Morgana shifted on her feet. Trying to stop any tears from falling. Now was not the time to be sentimental or let her guard down. There was much that could still gone wrong. The two armies as far as she knew had not faced each other properly yet.

Raising her hand Morgana grasped at something around her neck, pulling it down sharply. Just as quickly she grabbed Mordred's free hand and placed something into it.

When she freed his hand she opened it to see what Morgana had given him. At first he didn't understand why she had given him a ring. Then when he looked more closely at the engravings on the seal he knew what it was, what it go do. Looking up to met her gaze he asked her without words why she would give him such a valuable magic object at a time like this. Surly she would need it more than he would.

"I don't doubt either of your potential, but you will have to use focused and powerful magic. Greater than you have before. You've not really used your magic in such a long time." She said worry and sadness creeping into her voice. "Luke should stay and control the fire while you gift it all the power you have."

Neither Mordred or Kara could argue her point, so they each gave a silent nod. Then before he had the chance to change his mind, Kara tugged on their joined hands and they began to climb the hill.

Merlin could see Morgana visibly relax choosing to believe that they where in the safest place for them to do some good, the safe as Gwen and Gaius. He felt himself relax a little too now. His body less tense.

Suddenly once Mordred and Kara where no longer visible Morgana turned to face Merlin. Anger once again clear on her face. "What did you say that." She accused.

"Said what." Merlin asked back in shock, not understanding what she was asking.

"Before we left Camelot. Why did you tell me that."

Like a punch to the gut Merlin could no longer keep fighting back and ignoring what he had said a few hours ago.

The fire retained its height, but began to pull back its outward reach. The cove and the sea behind it where now just visible in the distance. As was expected the saxons had been forced together as the fire and the knights and druids of Camelot drove them forward. Edmund had noticed quickly what was happening but couldn't help but be manipulated in to where the enemy wanted him. He didn't know the geography well enough to come up with a better plan on the defensive. While neither he or his men could be sure or wanted to stop moving and find out, they were beginning to think that the fire was not natural. Making them fear it less, but they couldn't be sure. Not allowing himself and his men to be pushed back completely he stopped a half mile from the shore. Once he did his men slowly one by one stopped too, to stand their ground.

Seeing this, Arthur who was further down the line to Edmund's right. The king had been keeping an eye on him as they advanced forward. Now that they seemed to have stopped and were gathering closer, Arthur moved tentatively, in case he cased him to move, behind the line of his men. They kept moving forward more slowly now. He lost sight of the Edmund as he moved for a while, but soon saw the back of his head.

The saxons huddled slightly as they discussed their options. There of course was only one left for them that they would find acceptable. They had to stand and face them on equal footing.

"No more running." The king yelled across the space between the two armies.

A cold grin slowly spread across Edmund's face as he drew his sword and bent slightly forwards, raising his shoulders, as he braced himself to charge forward.

"I don't..."

Sensing that Merlin was going to struggle to find the right words, Morgana interrupted and focused her question more directly. "Are you trying to use me as your moral conscience-"

"No."

"Because we both know I'd make a poor one."

"I wasn't, I'm not using you-"

"Hoping I'm going to hold you to it."

"No-"

"Yes." She corrected. "Your hoping that by telling me, telling me that your going to tell Arthur about your magic. That I'll hold you to it, make you finally be honest."

"It's not like that."

"Than what is it, because I don't understand. Why now. After all this time."

At first Merlin wasn't sure if she had just paused to talk a breath or if she was going to give him the chance to get out more than a couple of words. When it was clear that it was the former, that she was giving him a chance to answer properly he couldn't find the words. He had avoid looking her in the eye. Now that he finally did he saw irritation and frustration growing in hers. While he still didn't have the right words, he couldn't not say anything any longer.

"I'm tired-" Wrong choice of words, he instantly knew by the look on her face.

"We all are and you've said that before." He nodded that she was right. "Yet you did nothing then, why would you now."

Again he struggled to find the words and all he could do was give an irritated shrug. "I don't know."

That was a lie. He knew why, why now and what made it different, but he still couldn't tell her. Not now when she was annoyed with him and there was so much else going on that they needed to worry about. Deep down he wasn't sure if he could ever tell her. In the rush of everything going on when they were leaving Camelot it had felt like a good idea. Things always seem like the right thing at the time without the benefit of hindsight.

"Then maybe you should stay silent until you do know." She said her anger and irritation lessening.

She was about to move, start walking again, but she stopped. Giving Merlin a chance to say anything else. He looked like he wanted to say something more but was hesitant.

"We might not get another chance." Morgana said, contradicting herself. "If there's anything-"

"No, I just...It doesn't matter now. I don't know what I was thinking. I think I needed to say it out load."

Morgana gave a slight nod, understanding, that drew a end to the conversation.

As they ran up the hill Mordred began to lag a little. The weight of his armour seemed twice as great as it had been when he first put it on that morning. Kara held his hand tighter as she pulled he on with her. She too was struggling to keep up the pace they had set for the onset. Just when she felt that they would have to stop for a second and catch their breath, she finally saw the top of the hill clearly and what she expected was Luke kneeing down, his hands held out before him, his eyes shut.

Realising that there was not going to be another chance to talk, just the two of them once they reached the top of the hill, Kara choose to stop and let them catch their breath.

"Are you sure about this." She asked as she turned to face him.

Mordred looked a little confused at first. "It makes the most sense."

"That's not what I asked."

He lifted their joined hands and kissed hers. "I want to do my duty and I want to keep you safe." Kara was about to interject but he quickly went on. "This way I can do both." Again she looked like she was about to speak so be carried on. "Now that Your here, I won't let you go again."

"You didn't exactly let me go, I left."

"True, I didn't make you want to stay though."

"Mordred.-"

"I don't think anyone could make you do anything you didn't want." He teased.

She smiled. How easy it was to just slip back into everything. To be them again. Like nothing had happened. The last few mouths hadn't really happened. They hadn't been separated.

"It wasn't your fault. You did nothing wrong." Sha said as she took his other hand in hers.

"Neither did you."

"I won't make that mistake again. I won't leave you again."

"And I won't give you reason."

Quickly, knowing they couldn't delay any longer, they kissed. Their hands still joined they then began to climb the rest of the hill.

It was impossible to tell who charged first, king Arthur or lord Edmund. They both sprung forward drawing on a reserve of energy they didn't know they had left. There men fallowed their lead. Soon the drawn swords clashed as the armies came together.

Percival made short work of the first two saxons he faced. The first being struck down with one blow. The second took a couple more. The third man he saw

Lancelot was not as direct or ruthless as his more imposing friend, but he was just as effective. His blows were gentler, but did just as much damage.

One of the older druids was able to knock three saxons off their feet. They didn't have the chance to get on their feet again.

It was a frustratingly skilled swordsman that crossed swords with Gwaine. The best he could do was deflect each blow as best as he could. Hoping he could keep this up longer than his opponent.

A practically tall and broad saxon brought his sword down on the head of a tragically young druid before he had the opportunity to defend himself.

Edmund made his way through the crowd towards Arthur. He didn't wait to see each made that he slipped with his sword went down or not. As long as they were out of his way he didn't care. He had his target in his sights.

Arthur was so focused on his target as well that he didn't see a blow coming that would hit him on the side of his head. At almost the very last second he felt the air pressure change to his right. As he turned to see what it was all he could see was a flash of bright steel. Before Arthur had a chance to take this fact in and begin to even think about how to defend himself, another flash of silver bleed across his line of sight. Having to turn away from the blinding light he closed his eyes and waited for the blow. A sinking feeling of deja vu washed over him.

When the blow didn't come the confused king opened his eyes. When he did he was greeted by a sight much brighter than the flash of a sharpened sword in the sun. His brother in laws wide and joyful smile.

After he blocked the blow to his king and brother in law, Eylan made quick work of the man that launched the attack. A swift sweep of his sword to the mans side and he bent over and crumpled on to his knees.

A familiar cocky grin crossed the younger mans face. Some smart remark was about to leave his mouth, but before he could get out a single word Arthur lunged forward. Sweeping his sword down to Eylan's right. His knee buckled suddenly and he feel onto the hard ground.

The blow Edmund unleashed when the knight was distracted entered on his lower back and tip almost broke through to the front.

Arthur screamed out, but Eylan could only let out a low groan before he fell forward. Arthur twisted his ankle as he lunged to catch his brother. It seemed he would would forever be in debited to his brother in law and would never be able to repay him.

I really hope that this new chapter wasn't to bad. I think I've got to accept that this is a low point of the story and I need to just power through and hope that I can pull it back together for the ending. I will say though that there is a critical point that I have to get to and I couldn't see how to get there, but while I was writing this chapter it came together and I now have it figured out a little better. Which is hopefully going to help getting the next few chapters written. I hope to be able to update every Sunday for the next few weeks. Pick up the pace a little now that the stories almost finished. Still can't believe that.

I'm sure that you all know where the ring came from, but I just want to explain just in case because it has been a long while. It's Gili's ring that he gave to Morgana in part 2.

Also I honestly almost forgot about what Merlin said to Morgana before they left Camelot. I knew what he said, I just almost forgot to pay it off. Hope it made sense.

As always any comments, feedback or ideas that you may have are very welcome.
