I was just walking back to the dorm after getting back from Erudite when it happened. Al, Peter and one other guy, I think his name was Alex, he was an amity transfer, caught me and was trying to shove me off the cliff that was above the chasm. I was fighting but failing. This was it. I wasn't ever going to tell my secret crush how I felt… or that I was pregnant with his child following a one night stand.
I heard a whack and I crawled to the railing. My eyes trying to focus. Alex and Peter were fighting me once more, I was fighting back, best I could while protecting my unborn baby. "Get off her!" a voice boomed before I felt the arms drop as I got up and ran to stand behind the wall. His hand reached my arm. "Are you alright stiff?" Eric's voice said. I only nodded, trembling in fear. "let's get you safe." He took me back to his apartment. Once inside I eased on his bed. "I'll be back." He said softly before disappearing for a moment then returning with medicine, water and a basin full of water too. He sat the basin on the ground before setting everything else on the nightstand. "Eric…" I whispered, before he handed me a sweater. "Put this on." "Thank You…" I whispered as I pulled it on, while he got a cloth from the bathroom. When he knelt in front of me, he took the cloth and put it in the water before gently washing the blood off my hands before inspecting my jaw and my swollen eye. "Nothing's broken…" He stood up, before cleaning up and sitting beside me.
"Tris, I need to confess something, and I don't want you to interrupt me." I sucked in a deep breath, as he continued "I am in love with you Beatrice Kyleigh Prior. I have been since I met you. After our one night stand, I realized that I don't want to be apart from you. I am terrified when you're not here or near me." I pressed my lips against his. "I am in love with you Eric Jasper Coulter! Now I have something I need to confess… Okay two things…" Eric looked at me patiently. "Okay… The first thing is I'm pregnant…" I watched Eric's eyes light up. "Are you sure?" I said "99.9% sure." "I'm so happy. What's the second thing…?" I took a deep breath. "Just Promise me you'll protect me no matter what…" He said "Of course I will Tris, you know that." "I'm Divergent…"
The second the words leave my mouth, I start shaking in fear. Eric's hands went to my shoulders to stop the shakes. "Tris, I promise, I'm going to take down Jeanine. I won't let her hurt you." I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders. "I promise. You and our baby will be safe. I'll keep you safe. Now you should try and sleep… I'll take the couch." He said as he went to remove himself from the bed. "Don't be ridiculous. There's plenty of room in the bed." He gave a small chuckle before he said "alright, let me get changed first." He quickly changed before getting in to bed beside me.
In the morning I woke to an empty bed. "Eric?" He appeared beside me sitting on his side of the bed. "Right here… So, babe… I need to ask you something… Where did you go yesterday?" "I… I went to Erudite… to see my brother… Four scared me so bad after my fear landscape, and you weren't there… I just wanted a hug from my brother..." Eric took a deep breath before he said "When Card questions you, say you had my permission, and that I was with you." "But…" I started. "I wasn't at the compound either. I was doing a head count of the Factionless, and we got back within minutes of each other so it's perfect." I nodded and said "Thank you and thank you for not getting mad and upset over the news I shared last night." He smiled and said "Both were unexpected but not anything we can't handle together." I smiled and said "Let me get dressed and we can head to the cafe for breakfast." He said "Sounds good." I quickly changed and went out to Eric. We walked to the cafe, which is where Eric said "Stay close to your friends. Okay?" I nodded, and went in, finding Chris and went over. "Hey," I smiled, as she continued "Is that your sweater?" I shook my head, and she said "So what happened to you last night?" Just then I felt a hand on my shoulder, causing me to turn my head. Al kept trying to apologize, which is when I shook my head. "If you ever come close to me again, I will kill you." "Tris..." "JUST STAY AWAY..." I got cut off as he landed a punch to my jaw.
"Tris!" Chris was at my side. Will, Uriah, and Zeke immediately knocked Al down, as Eric ran over. "What happened?" He knelt down beside me, gently stroking my hair. "Get away from her." Chris glared. I shoved Chris's arms off and tried to move to Eric's. "You watch yourself Chris." "Get rid of him." I whispered. The next few days we got through our fear landscapes, and the final stage, before we got injected with what Max called 'A Tracking Device.' Eric said "I'm going to sleep in the dorms, tonight. Don't worry I'll be okay..." I whispered to Eric. "Alright... But tomorrow. My place." I nodded. It was getting pretty late, so we all laid down and went to bed. In the earliest part of the morning, everyone got up and dressed. I acted robotic till my eyes met Eric's. He met us at the train and pulled me aside. "Hey. I know you're awake." He whispered. "I'm feeling really sick." I whispered. "I can tell. Now, keep acting like a robot. I'll meet you in Abnegation." I nodded as we got to abnegation. It was sheer chaos. I got caught, and almost executed. My mom and Eric saved me. "You were Dauntless." I whispered to my mom, once we were against the wall, Eric was on my left. "It served me well today. Let's go." We snuck all the way to Monroe and State, but mom got shot by a Dauntless soldier, but Eric and I shot the soldier.
Eric hugged me the second we got into the safe house. For a moment before I noticed movement. "Where's my father?" "Beatrice?" My Dad said. He looked to the door. "your mother?" I shook my head, as he came over and hugged me tight. "She saved us…" I whispered. "Then it wasn't in vain." I didn't expect to see Caleb but I went over and hugged him. "I dropped out." He confessed. "You can come to Dauntless." Eric said before Fours father came over. "We need to leave. Are there soldiers outside?" "I don't understand why are Dauntless fighting for Erudite?" Caleb asked. I said "They don't know what they're doing. They're in a sim." My dad said "and how are you awake?" "because simulations don't work on me." Eric said "We need to wake them up. We need to get back to Dauntless."
"That's a fortress. Impossible." Eric looked to me, before I said "We can get us in there." We got to the train and on it before I saw the compound coming. "Get ready." Eric opened the door before standing next to me. "Don't think." I said as Eric and I jumped off, followed by Caleb, then dad and Marcus. When we got to the opening, I said "there's a net at the bottom. Don't think. Just jump." I jumped and got off the net before Eric came down, then Caleb, Marcus and Dad. "Everyone good?" I asked before Eric said "let me lead." He ran off a head, unbeknownst to me he'd be captured. I led the others till I saw Peter. Fear strong within. "How are you awake?" "Because they need me and I'm smarter than you." I put the pistol against his chest demanding where they were controlling it from, only to shoot him in the arm, to get him to see point. He led us to where they were controlling it from. "Did you need to shoot him?" Marcus demanded. "Every second we waste arguing, another member of your faction dies, and a member of mine becomes a murder!" My dad took the gun and started shooting the guards, which took his own life. Caleb was kneeling down beside him. "Stay with Caleb. I'm going in." I went in and saw Eric, but he attacked me. "Eric, wake up its me…" I repeated till a gun was to my head. "It's okay. We love you. It's okay." Eric moved the gun off my head. It worked. "Go." I whispered as he shot the Erudite men, before we went to Jeanine. He injected her with the serum. "Shut the program down and wipe it." She did, and when she realized what had happened, she started attacking me. "ERIC!" I shouted before she started choking me. I couldn't remember what happened, but I do remember hearing gun shots, which is when I felt Eric's hand on my shoulder, and his voice whispering. "Wake up beauty..." I felt my eyes open, but I didn't say anything. My throat honestly hurt like crap.
"It's okay, you're safe and so is the baby." I smiled at that, as he helped me to my feet. I saw Jeanine on the ground bleeding. I looked to Eric curiously. "I killed her. It was a long time coming..." Max appeared in the room. "What happened?" Eric spun on his heels, holding me protectively behind him. "We injected Jeanine with the serum and got Jeanine to shut down the program and delete it. That's when she tried to kill Tris... So, in an effort to save my girls life, I shot Jeanine." I looked to him in awe when he said 'My Girl.' Max said "Good job. I couldn't stand how many Abnegation died in this, due to the damn serum... Let me take the fall, and if I have to resign, I'm naming you as head faction leader." I looked to Eric proudly. Eric said "I'd be stupid not to accept. But I do have one request. Tris's twin brother... Caleb, he has no one but his sister, and I know by law he should be factionless, since he failed initiation for Erudite, is there anyway, you'd let him come and stay here? I'd personally train him myself." Max said "I'll allow it this once." Eric thanked him for both of us, while I shot him a grateful look.
Over the next couple days we got everything back to normal. I had been checked out by Marlene once she got back and had sever vocal cord damage, that would require me to not talk for a month, which let's face it, would be hard, But other than that I was perfectly fine and so was the baby, and that was all that mattered. Today Eric was training with Caleb, while I settled to jogging around the training room, stopping to admire my boyfriends rippling muscles from beneath his shirt. Max was still the head of Dauntless, but not for much longer. Eric was doing the physical training with Caleb, while I did the fear landscapes. Caleb's days were split in half, Mornings with Eric, Afternoons with me, while Eric went to train for head leader with Max. Once Eric was finished with Caleb this morning they came over to me. "Ready for lunch?" I nodded, as we went to the cafe.
After lunch I watched Caleb go through his fears. So far he had 4. 1) Being attacked by crows, 2) Intamacy, 3) killing innocent people, and 4) fire. Once he came out of the sim I sat in the chair and typed out on this speaking app on the phone. "What were your test results?" My phone spoke for me, while I looked Caleb dead in the eye. I had gone into leadership, Eric said he would teach me, everything else, as I've already been through all the training we'd have done for our leadership part. "Abnegation." He lied. "I know you're lying Caleb. Tell me the damn truth." I typed. "I... Abnegation. Erudite. And Amity. Okay?" He said slowly. "I knew it! I could tell the way you manipulated the sim." My phone spoke. "We'll have to practice. Let's go in mine, and I'll teach you how to get through it." I injected both of us, and put the connectors on his head.
