Damian's POV
Olga seems to be a natural leader in this very moment, I guess one side of the coin, huh.
"We'll set up base here, this is the time you have to search for a Leyline Terminal. A place where magical energy converges, we'll be able to contact Chaldea from there. And in this town's case is…" she trailed off. Maybe it's a facade after all…
"This is the point, Director. You are standing on it," Mash pointed out.
"I knew that! You don't have to interrupt me like that." No one interrupted you, Olga, you trailed off. My inner demon is enjoying this, "Set your shield here, I'll put up a summoning circle. With your Noble Phantasm, we'll be able to use that as a catalyst."
"Will you be okay with that, Damian?" Mash asked me.
"Sure, go ahead, it's not like I know anything from here." She puts down the shield and Olga started summoning the summoning experiment chamber of Chaldea, and Roman pops up off the hologram.
"Hello? CQ? Okay, the connection's back and stable! Great job, you two for securing the connection. We might be able to communicate again, and even send rations on your side." Olga seems to be shocked about Roman's appearance in the hologram.
"ROMANI! Why are you running the show instead of Lev Lainur? Where is he? Put him on!" Because of Olga's sudden interruption, Roman was surprised about her and screamed.
"Director! You're alive, and unharmed! How the…" He trailed off
"Now what's that supposed to mean? Again, where's Lev? Why is the head medic in charge of Chaldea?"
"Don't ask me why, Olga Marie. I know to myself that I am not cutout for this job, but there is no one else here." He lowered his head, "There are only twenty people, including me, were able to survive such blast. One of the reasons I was ranked here, because I was the only one highest in rank, and Dr. Lev was the one supervising the Command Room, I don't think he would survive it." Olga seems to be shocked about what happened to Lev and was mumbling his name, she then shakes her head about it.
"Wait, you said there are less than twenty who survived? What about the..." she trailed off for a little bit before continuing, "Coffin of Master Candidates?" Roman shakes his head.
"...Forty-seven, all of them are in a critical state right now, and we are short in medical supplies. We may be able to save a few, but I think all of them are-" Olga cuts him off.
"Stop being ridiculous, Romanoff! Put them in Cryopreserve immediately before thinking of reviving them, our top priority is to make sure they don't die!" Based on Roman's sudden realization, he quickly turns around.
"How could I forget that?! I'll get on it right away!" He started dialing some of the surviving personnel and immediately worked on the Cryopreservation. Mash joined in the conversation.
"But isn't Cryopreservation without a consent a crime, Director? But then again you made the right decision, you put human lives ahead of your reputation as the director"
"That's much preferable rather than committing a manslaughter, so don't be stupid! I can explain myself later to them as long as they are not dead. In the first place, those are forty-seven lives on my shoulders, and I can't carry that burden!" Olga became frantic and walked back and forth as Roman busies himself surveying the HQ, "I'm begging you, please don't die… If only Lev were here," she whispered. As we wait for Roman to finish putting the remaining Masters in Cryopreservation, he comes back to us.
"This is to conclude my report… Chaldea lost eighty percent of its functionality, and there's only so much of the remaining staff can do. For the current event, I am shifting available manpower to repair the Rayshift, to maintain Chaldea's and Sheba's current states." He paused for a moment before continuing, "As soon as we get the external communications back online, we'll immediately request supplies and start rebuilding Chaldea." Olga agreed at Roman's conclusions.
"That would be good, I would've done the same thing if I was there." She still has some hint of doubt in her eyes before looking at Roman directly, "I may not like this, but for now you are in charge of Chaldea until I return. Your top priority is repairing the Rayshift." Finally, something we can agree on, I thought to myself.
"Will you be okay there, Director?"
"Yes, we will be exploring this town. The Singularity F." Olga seems tense about mentioning this singularity, I wonder why.
"You seem to be brave in there, Director. Are you sure you will be okay to be at ground zero?" Olga rolled her eyes at Roman.
"You really don't know when to shut up, Roman. I like nothing more than getting back at Chaldea, but it will take us some time till you finish repairing the Rayshift." She looks at the desolate place, "This town is only infested with low-level monsters, with Mash as a Demi-Servant, there is nothing to be afraid of."
"At your service, Director." Mash composes herself.
"Accident or not, we Animuspheres pride ourselves in doing our best at the given situations. Damian, Mash, and I will investigate Singularity F. With that said, even if Damian is inexperienced, the extent of this investigation to find out the cause of this anomaly." Always have a way with words, "The second team will be dispatched as soon as Chaldea is restored, so the Analysis and Eradication will have to wait. Will you be okay with that?" Olga eyed me intently. As much as I'd like to bitch around and make fun of this, I also wanted to go home. Father and Mother would be angrily worried about my disappearance, so this will have to wait. I looked at Roman, Mash, and Olga before I gather my decision.
"...Of course, that would be nice and easy."
