Following The Heart

Chapter 11

Authors Note :Thank you so much my readers. Stay tuned.

Weeks Later

Lucas had Lindsey Strauss 's business card still laying there on his end table. In their bedroom.

He hadn't wanted to make any rushed impulsive decisions.

But hearing from a person who read and edited stories for a living. Who worked with real authors and who wasn't someone who was easy to please. Actually saw potential and talent in his words.

Was a surprise. And exciting he couldn't deny that. He had started a sequel a few back but never finished it.

Maybe it was worth sitting down and talking about.

He owed Brooke that for putting his work out there. And he wanted to take a chance on himself too. It was worth a try. Lucas thought to himself.

...

Cinnamon waffles. Sausage patties. Scrambled eggs with cheese.

They always ate well in the Scott home. Lucas emjoyed cooking and baking for them.

(You're refill just came in.) Lucas said. Handing Elijah his HCM medication bottle.

(Thanks dad. Tonight is the art show at school. Are you sure you and mom can go?) Elijah asked.

(Of course. I'm closing the store early and you're dad is leaving work as early as he can.) Brooke replied.

(You've been working on these pieces for months. You're getting you're own display area.)

(We couldn't be more proud of you.) Lucas said.

(Which is why you won't miss me not being there. I finally get to see my friends again and get back to my normal life. I'm not missing that.) Brian announced.

Lucas glared at him.

(That's okay E. We'll have fun as always.) Belinda replied.

...

Hours Later

That is exactly what went on. Pride filled looks on their faces as Elijah 's paintings had their own display area.

He had always been into and connected to art. Picture taking. Painting. He got that from his mom. The couple believed.

(If you hear my parents tell it. I was drawing and painting before I was doing anything else. I have always loved expressing myself through art. It's where I'm able to just shut out the world and let go. )

(My parents support is why I'm able to be so talented. And of course my little sister who has alot of my early work.) Elijah said.

(That's my baby! I had that beautiful boy.) Brooke gushed.

Elijah smiled shyly as he rejoined them.

(Where are we going to dinner.?) Lucas asked.

(You're boy has a bright future ahead of him.)

(He's one of my top students.)

(He had his eyes set on Colombia. California institute of the arts. Yale.) The art teacher announced.

(But I'm sure he's told you all about that.) The art teacher added in.

...

Awhile later

(So were you going to share these plans or blindside us later once you got accepted?) Brooke asked.

Once they got home.

(This is what I want to do. Those are the places I can excel. Get even more talented and get noticed have people want to by my work at some point.) Elijah explained.

(We have always encouraged and supported their dreams . This is him taking the steps to make it a reality.)

(We should do all we can to make sure this happens for him.) Lucas replied.

(You can have succes here in town. You don't need to go away for that.) Brooke replied.

(I can't stay in Tree Hill for you.) Elijah replied. As he went upstairs.
