"Mmph."
Saja haughtily examined the torn remains of the last creature that had attacked her. A few black singing marks and ash covering the yellow walls were everything that now testified of its existence. So far, none of the strange monsters she had encountered had required more than a single blast to be utterly annihilated.
The locals are proving weak, but they appear more and more frequently. We hadn't met a single one when we were together, but now I'm seeing something strange appear almost every other hour.
…I have to keep my energy. I did not get any opportunity to recover so far, and I cannot allow myself to be at anything than at my apex if I encounter those brainwashed angels again, or worse… Saja shivered. if I am unfortunate enough to meet Lucifina…
None of this would have been a problem if we stood side-by-side rather than scattered around as soon as the Daystar appeared. We would still be together… for all the good that it would do us.
Luckily, she seemed to be hostile to angels as well. Why would she have stopped their attack as well otherwise?
The primal monster returned on her way. She wouldn't get anything more by staying there. Her only goal was to escape this place and return to the side of the Dark Goddess. If she could eliminate archangels or bring back one or several of her sisters, it was only a bonus.
So far, no opportunity for either had presented themselves. Each singularity she had met was only a distraction. From strange monsters to childish games without forgetting the large number of senseless devices she saw, none of them offered her anything worth her time.
Saja had grown accustomed to those repetitive, monotonous yellow corridors and the omnipresent buzzing sound. Even then, they remained unpleasant to her senses. The place had overstayed its welcome by long. She had lost track of time long ago, and while she didn't lose her courage, she felt herself grow more and more sluggish.
At least, I do not have to suffer my sisters' petty whining. Hiruko would be complaining about the lack of food, and so would Minagi. And Tamamo… that damn fox would try to use the situation to assert her superiority for her own satisfaction.
New sounds reached her ears. Muffled activity and voices were echoing ahead of her.
"Damn. More holes. Be careful. I'm not sure I want to fall down there."
"Yeah. They don't look like fun slides. More like fun slides."
Saja's body kicked up in action. Voices meant people, and, more importantly, they sounded like males. Her instinct reminded her that it had been a long time since she last had the opportunity to feed on someone. Or even since she saw any human at all. The relief they would bring would be indubitably welcome.
However, there was something wrong with them… she needed to find them quickly. Even if she couldn't feel the presence of her more voracious sisters, she was worried what could happen to them before she reached them. The monsters roaming around were weak, but as far as she knew humans were even weaker. They didn't stand a chance against those.
The yoma rushed headfirst in the twisting hallways, half slithering half flapping her wings. She spent several minutes travelling at high speed before slowing down in confusion, then in disappointment. It looked like another prank played out at her expense. As she dejectedly examined the numerous openings presented to her, her mood dropped considerably. She decided to turn back to the way she came from. With a little luck, she would be able to trace her steps back to… somewhere.
Then barely after a few turns she entered a room she didn't remember passing through. Large square holes were covering the floor of the room, leaving only the smallest yellow trail to cross the place. Saja ignored this threat as it was no concern to her, and instead focused on the two humanoid silhouettes in green plastic suits with black masks. One of them was sitting right in front of her with his back turned, his feet balancing above a hole while another one was trying to cross the room in a balancing act.
"Caaareful. You don't want to fall and die horribly, would you?"
"Heh. Don't worry about it." The man briefly turned around before trying to turn around to stare at Saja. "Hey, what is… WoOoh, WOooh… nooo…"
Saja summoned a spectral whip to bring him back to her. In any other case, she would have let the man die, but she really needed anything he could provide right now. His companion tried to around to take a look at Saja, but in his hurry he slipped down from his seat, throwing him in the abyss.
"Oh, ooops…"
Saja raised an eyebrow in front of his reaction. The man had sounded more inconvenienced than afraid. Most human she knew panicked when their death approached. Was the fall nonlethal? Or were the humans in that place far different than from back home? As she mulled over his strange reaction, she felt her breasts being firmly groped by the man she had just saved. She couldn't see his eyes through the black rubber mask covering his face, only imagine his shameless yet hidden perverted expression.
"What?"
"Get off." Saja's commanding tone didn't allow for answer. The groper meekly got off from her. Her keen senses examined him from head to toes. Her target wasn't actually human. Only a parody of existence that pretended to be one not unlike some of her own sisters. Could she even order him? Saja's eyes started glowing. She didn't like brainwashing her targets as much as Tamamo, but she did direly need some information.
"Tell me where we are."
"On floor zero of the Backrooms."
"Tell me how to get out."
The humanoid shape simply shrugged. Visibly, her power wasn't adapted to sway whatever that creature was. She used her tail to swat him with enough force to throw him across the room. A normal human would have ended up shattered from the impact, but her target got up as if he just slipped. The Ancestor prepared for a fight, but her target seemed uninterested in her as they dusted themselves.
"Ow." It shrugged. "Oh, well, I'm on the other side. Whatever. Thanks I guess."
Can this thing feel pain? Does it even understand what danger is?
Saja was simply dumbfounded. The behavior of this creature didn't seem to follow any sort of understandable reasoning. Any human would have tried having his way with her. An angel would have fruitlessly attacked her. An apoptosis would have been no different. Alternatively, all of them more often than not ran away in front of her power.
Instead… she felt insulted by its disregard for her majesty. No one had ever shown her so little attention.
Nothing in this place is making sense.
Suddenly, Saja felt a surge of dark energy across the room. She preemptively raised a barrier. It looked like this creature had some fight in it. Then she relaxed as quickly as she raised her guard when she recognized Minagi's aura. The succubus flew out of one of the numerous holes and nearly hit the ceiling before stabilizing herself.
"So that's where it led… back to the beginning I guess." The succubus looked around her before casually smiling at Saja.
"Greetings, dear sister. I see that you're in… strange company. I wouldn't mind joining in."
Saja stared at Minagi with a deadpan expression. The smallest bit of joy she could get from finding her sister once again was completely erased by the perspective of dealing with her innuendo-laden talk.
"I would gladly leave you alone with that thing if you could give me any measure of useful information about it."
"Do you mean…"
Saja frowned. "I mean everything but its sexuality. I don't want any detail about how it procreates, or anything about its body mechanism."
"I'm still here." The silhouette raised a hand.
"Well, if you ask so persistently, I shall gladly oblige." Minagi stared at the man. Saja could feel the succubus gauging him before deciding whether she should get personal or not. The man remained still for a moment before turning away and dismissively throwing his arm backward.
"Meh, do whatever you want. I don't care."
Minagi glanced sideway at Saja, silently asking the yoma if she had dealt with the same kind of behavior. Saja nodded back. A pink aura appeared around Minagi's hands and around the silhouette who froze on the spot.
"Hey, why am I feeling tingly all of a sudden? Are youauauuuuuuuurrghuuuuuuuuuEEERRRGH…"
The human silhouette twisted around before collapsing in a heap. Saja watched the scene with a cold curiosity. Minagi pouted when the light disappeared.
"Whatever that was, it was particularly disgusting. Even if it had a somehow familiar flavor, I feel I would need to eat another angel to wash up the residue of that one. It wasn't human at least."
Saja raised an eyebrow. "Another angel? Did you fight one?"
Minagi smirked while her wings flapped happily. "I might have given Uriela the time of her life… or, to be more accurate, the last time of her life."
Saja smirked. Right now, the succubus was positively beaming, and she felt herself being affected. At least one Archangel was done for, and of all of her sisters, she was now with the one that was the easiest to work with. Her situation had suddenly considerably improved.
"Now, shall we look for them? If all those angels isolated themselves from one another for whatever reason, I'm pretty sure we can get ourselves a few more to play with…"
Saja nodded. They would show any unfortunate angel the might of two Ancestors…
"By the way, would you want some of their energy? A pleasure is better when it is shared after all."
Before she could answer, Saja felt slightly reinvigorated. Minagi had already shared her gift.
Here she goes already… I appreciate her help, but I hope that she won't let her libido dictate her again…
Back to those yellow hallways… let us hope that trusting Sandalphone's book was not a mistake…
Lucretia… was she really the queen harpy? Sandalphone would have noticed if she had come face to face with a monster, and she would have acted accordingly.
Let us not forget that the Ancestors are roaming the place. And Lucifina as well…
Why? What are they doing here? What dark designs are they hoping to accomplish?
And why is SHE here and not Ilias?
Oh, please, goddess, give us a sign.
Even if she was inwardly tormented, Micaela kept putting on a strong facade. She didn't want to further worry either of the twins. Every corner could hide an Ancestor or worse, and she didn't want their focus to waver by being herself anything less than the perfect leader the Goddess Ilias had always intended her to be.
If only all those versions of me had accepted her vision... we would have already saved every world and returned those disgusting monsters back in the abyss they came from. If only…
No. I shouldn't think about it. And certainly not in those trying times. I must remain exemplar. I must not be found wanting.
Micaela glanced behind her. The twins looked as focused as she was, and although Metatrone was displaying her ever-present playful smirk, her stance indicated that she took the unnatural threat of this place as seriously as her...
Or at least in appearance. In reality, she felt the monotony of the place erode her own vigil, and she had no doubt her subordinates were suffering the same issue. They had been far from the goddess for way too long.
Is she still safe? The Ancestors are here as well, that damnable Alipheese wouldn't dare attack her on her own, would she? She wouldn't be able to get close without being swarmed by our loyal soldiers… which would just end as food for her. But she can't even leave her own world, so unless those damnable whores she sent got Luka... she will be fine... won't she?
"Hey, is it me or is the ceiling lower than usual?"
Micaela looked up when she heard Metatrone. The ceiling was indeed slightly lower than a few minutes ago. More dangerously, it was still slowly descending. Micaela imbued her sword with holy energy, and, just like every other time, her attack against the hallway did nothing. The ceiling kept lowering imperceptibly.
"It is. Following my pacing. We will escape that damn mechanism."
Strange. We should hear the sound of machine or friction, shouldn't we?
Micaela started half running, half flying. The trio dashed through the twisting hallways at great speed while the ceiling threateningly kept getting closer and closer. Micaela ended up being forced to bend slightly before they escaped the trap. The leader of the Seven Archngels looked behind her to see Metatrone and Sandalphone escaping as well without further issue. Afterward, she observed the ceiling still slowly lowering until it eventually reached the floor in silence. The lack of sound was disconcerting. Furthermore, there wasn't a sign of a gap between the walls and where the corridor was, as if there never was a hallway in the first place.
Micaela haughtily sneered. That clumsy trap would never have been able to take the life of one of the divine messengers of Ilias.
That place is pathetic. Whoever brought us here in an attempt to weaken us has largely underestimated us. Do they think us so weak that we would die in a trap so mundane?
"Commander!"
A shiver ran along Micaela's spine. She instinctively raised a barrier behind her, barely stopping a surge of obscene energy. The light shield held against the attack before Minagi punched through the barrier with a fist wrapped in fire, throwing the seraph back. The succubus kept exploiting her momentum and started wrapping her limbs around Micaela in an obscene embrace before both of them were swallowed by an eye-searing light. While Micaela barely felt a tingling sensation, she heard the succubus scream in pain even as she kept herself latched on the seraph. Any energy Micaela could gather was instantly drained by the succubus. She couldn't accumulate the power for an attack.
Ghhhh… disgusting whore… this is the price for my carelessness… I refuse it!
Micaela resorted to punching Minagi in the face with all of her strength. The attack was surprisingly effective against the succubus who finally let go of her prey and disappeared behind a dark barrier. Slowly, the blinding light dimmed as the twins finally stopped channeling their attack. Micaela slowly got up, her body still periodically shaken by spasms. Besides the horribly sweet sensation permeating her limbs, there was something disgusting in the power and aura the succubus displayed.
Minagi got Uriela… this is why she gained some resistance to holy attacks… she drained her to death… she sucked dry one of my subordinates… she must die!
Micaela raised her blade, panting in absolute fury. Her movement got stopped by the unfortunately low ceiling, further enraging her. That place was doing its utmost to drive her mad. She positioned her weapon horizontally to pierce the obstacle.
"Angels! Behind me!"
"Wait! We can't fight here!"
Micaela ignored her subordinates and pierced the offensive dark wall in a single strike. On the other side, Minagi and Saja released their own spells, combining a dark assault and a lewd wave that directly gnawed at Micaela's mind and body alike. The seraph reinforced her defenses and powered through the attack, focusing on running the succubus through with her sword. The attack merely grazed her opponent who attempted to grab her again in another lewd embrace. This time, several bolts of lightning pierced through the succubus who quickly aborted her assault, focusing herself on stimulating the two small angels from afar. Then Saja charged past everyone to go for the small duo, leaving Micaela free to charge Minagi before the seraph stopped herself.
In those narrow halls, with her mastery over martial arts and thanks to the power she gained from killing Uriela, Minagi would be able to fight her to a standstill for hours.
In the same conditions, with the hallways preventing them from getting any distance between them and their target and given that they had already spent energy against Kanade, the twins would lose against Saja in less than a few minutes.
No… no angel will fall against a monster ever again!
Micaela already heard the twins starting to scream and the sound of blasts of lights being released by their weapons. Attacking Saja in the back would leave her open to Minagi. Focusing on Minagi would mean leaving the twins to Saja. And with the random nature of this place, trying to follow another hallway to join back with the twins could just as well mean abandoning them.
Micaela eventually settled on taking on Saja. The fight wouldn't be at her advantage, but she would be damned before she lowered herself to their level and let her allies die for her own sake. Micaela charged Saja's back while leaving a lightning trail to hold Minagi back. Her sword pierced the yoma's back, drawing a surprised scream from the monster who twisted around and threw a wind deflagration with her wings. Micaela was barely affected by the attack, but it was enough for Minagi to catch up to the seraph and obscenely grope her from behind.
"Don't you want to relieve all that stress you keep accumulating? I'm sure we-"
The succubus couldn't finish her sentence before Micaela slammed her elbow in the monster's stomach, knocking the wind out of her.
She keeps her mouth as open as her legs. Good for me.
She focused back on Saja who had stopped tossing the twins around to attack her. A short glance informed her that they were still alive, and only unconscious. However, Micaela was now forced to fight on two fronts, and could only hope that the twins would recover quickly enough to support her again.
Then Minagi stopped her onslaught for a short second, a frown appearing on her face. The succubus did a motion that Micaela didn't fully understand, but Saja blinked past the seraph to reappear on the other side. Then both of them dashed in a hallway before a firestorm engulfed their trail. Micaela felt a wave of relief engulf her. She recognized Sariela's signature in this spell. The archangel appeared, visibly disappointed, and was accompanied by a blue parrot. Micaela raised an eyebrow at the unusual sight, but only took the shortest mental note before focusing on her subordinate. The latter looked healthy, if somewhat tired.
"I apologize for my lateness. Even with the perfect guidance, joining up with you took longer than I expected."
The parrot flew past Micaela who nonchalantly avoided it. She observed the creature landing on Metatrone. The sight of her subordinate being casually used as a perch was insulting. She glared at the bird who completely ignored her to instead saunter around on Metatrone's arm before returning her attention to Sariela.
"Report."
"I personally destroyed Kanon. The alraune will no longer try to use anyone to sate her hunger."
Micaela grimly smirked. One Ancestor down… she only regretted that neither Saja nor Minagi was there to hear about the demise of their sister.
"A commendable result. Keep an eye out for those two damnable perverts while I take care of Metatrone and Sandalphone." Micaela kneeled near the older of the two angels and attempted to chase the animal with a flick of her wrist. When she heard an audible metallic unsheathing, she looked around her ready to fight. The only thing she could see was Sariela glaring at her.
"Is there an issue?"
"Jerry is to be left alone."
Jerry… she's obviously talking about that parrot. He was mentioned in that book too. He was supposedly able to brainwash anyone in worshipping him. Ah! I doubt a bird so weak can do anything beyond asking for crackers… Maybe a weak-minded human far from Her Light would appreciate him. Did that little thing help her in another way?
"How did he help you? Could he lead us out of that damn place?"
"Not as much as we could be useful to him. He will guide us if he wishes so."
Micaela recoiled and frowned in shock. A feeling of dread seized her guts. She focused on quickly healing the twins, sharing just enough energy for them to emerge from their trauma. Both of them slowly woke up and got up, and Micaela once again tried to chase the bird from Metatrone in annoyance. This time, she felt the cold metal touch of Sariela's scythe in her back. Her subordinate's weapon was barely touching her, but the message was all too clear. Micaela slowly turned back to face her subordinate in a contest of will.
"Sariela. You are raising your weapon against your superior. Did you lose sight of the plan of the Goddess?"
"The plans of the Goddess have no value here." Sariela venomously spat her words out. "It is only by following the plans of Jerry that our goal can progress!"
"Sariela." Micaela's aura flared, surrounding her with a visible halo. "I invite you to reconsider your words, for they would have landed even angels in your very own ward to be re-educated."
"I stand by my words, and invite you to reconsider your own position. Ilias has no presence here. Only Jerry does."
She sounds more hot-headed than usual… did that bird somehow brainwash her? How?! I do not feel any difference between this critter and the remainder of the walls that surround us! I need to return some sense into her. May the Goddess forgive me, but I only see one solution available to me right now.
Micaela grabbed the handle of Sariela's scythe with her free hand and pulled her subordinate with all her strength. Sariela was yanked forward straight in Micaela's fist before the latter followed up with a kick, starting an onslaught of rapid attacks in the hope to stun her subordinate before she herself ended up exhausted.
I am sorry Sariela… but I cannot allow you to spread this heresy. The Goddess shall not allow it. Once we are back, I will make sure you are returned to your righteous role.
Sariela had the utmost difficulties defending herself. Her lack of skills in martial arts made her comparatively weaker in an unarmed fight, and Micaela made sure her target's focus was always broken to prevent her from casting any spell.
As she regretfully carried her assault, sharp pain exploded in her back side. Surprised, Micaela turned around to see Metatrone glaring at her as well, the blue parrot on her shoulder. On her side, Sandalphone was looking agape at the scene.
"Sis ?!"
"You don't understand the grace of Jerry!"
Did that… that PEST somehow already brainwash her? How?! I didn't hear or feel anything! It must be destroyed at all cost!
Micaela summoned her blade and attempted to strike the offending critter in a lightning fast attack. Metatrone moved around to keep her new object of protection safe, and answered in kind with a point-blank arrow. As both angels tried to gang up on Micaela, the latter called out to Sandalphone.
"Make your sister stop!"
"I can't!" Sandalphone's voice trembled when she answered. "She's my sister!"
"Then shoot that damned parrot!" Micaela punched Sariela in the face again. The seraph was hating every single second of this fight. She never imagined herself she would fight her subordinates. She anticipated even less that it would be in a dirty brawl after they uttered heretical injunctions.
Sandalphone was at loss. She didn't want to harm either her big sister which was her other half just as well or the stern but loyal commander who always guided them through the most turbulent times. The small angel was paralyzed by indecision. The only thing she could was tearing up while shaking in frustration to Micaela's own growing impatience. However, even as she was focused on fighting, the seraph could feel the deadly intent aimed at her subordinate.
"Protect us!"
The small angel got wide-eyed and barely had the time to raise a shield before a wind blast tossed the whole group a few meters.
Those damn monsters are still around! Maybe their threat will finally knock some sense into those two!
Unfortunately, Micaela's hopes were quickly dashed away when Sariela glared at her and whispered words of forbidden darkness. The hellfire summoned by the magus burned barely for a few seconds before Micaela dispelled it, but it was enough to put her on her knees. The only positive side was that Metatrone had stopped attacking her to focus on Saja and Minagi with her little sister, although they were clearly at a disadvantage.
Damn it… Let us hope that Raphaela or even Gabriela find us quickly… we need their support against those damn demons.
Her whole body was aching. One of her wings was now torn off. If the Ancestors decided to focus on her, they might just be able to kill her.
In a last ditch effort, Micaela switched her target on the bird that was the source of all her sufferings. Once again, the bird avoided her attack altogether. Instead, it took off from Metatrone's shoulder and simply started making its way through another hallway.
Get back here you pest!
Micaela ignored the attacks aimed at her and focused on chasing the bird. The few attacks that connected were stopped by a barrier that Sariela was doing her utmost to maintain. Enraged, Micaela once again focused her assault on her subordinate, leaving the pest free to flee.
Then the leader of the Archangels completely froze when the most hellish sound she remembered ever hearing hit her ears. The hallway behind her was filled in a blinding light as a meteor exploded. Her brain spent a second accepting the single possibility of this event.
Lucifina found us.
Micaela felt herself being briefly detached from the world as Sariela and Metatrone screamed in agony while holding their heads. The two of them charged Lucifina directly to try tearing the fallen angel apart, but the latter riposted in a series of lightning-fast strikes. Micaela saw Metatrone being torn apart by Lucifina's blades in a storm of steel, her blood spraying in every direction before she could even will her own body back in action. The next thing her senses registered was Sandalphone's desperate cry. The small Archangel was on her knees, an arm extended in the direction of the fight. The only sign of presence from the Ancestors was a white ribbon wrapping itself around her waist and trailing around a corner.
Micaela finally reacted when said ribbon started pulling an unresponsive Sandalphone away like a rag doll. Sariela was both morally and physically doomed. She would focus on saving the one angel that was still undoubtedly loyal to the goddess.
However her own energy reserves were betraying her. With her wounds, she simply couldn't keep up with the succubus and her latest quarry. She was losing ground with each passing second, going from seeing Sandalphone's desperate expression to barely be able to see her legs, to finally only hear her screaming as she was dragged Ilias-knew-where. Gradually, even that sound dimmed, and, after a while, whatever sound the angel could emit was drowned by the same omnipresent electrical buzzing.
Micaela fell on her knees, panting in a mix of rage, exhaustion and frustration. She had been powerless to stop the death of her subordinates. Not all of them would return to the realm of Ilias. Metatrone had been torn apart. Sariela had certainly followed. Sandalphone felt into the hands of the enemy, and she could only imagine the depraved tortures that would be forced on her before she was discarded. How would the Goddess react to her failure? She couldn't see herself announcing the terrible news to the Goddess…
…right now, she couldn't imagine herself going back to her world.
Screaming in impotence, Micaela resorted to fruitlessly punching the floor.
Saja carefully examined around the corner before going down the next hallway. Even if the Archangels had somehow fallen in a fight again one another, the yoma had become more cautious. She had expected to find an isolated Archangel, not several of them at the same time. Even with the effect of surprise and by exploiting the chaos that followed, their victory hadn't been guaranteed, and the ensuing fight had taken a toll in her already diminishing reserves. Even now, the haughty yoma was reduced to a slow slithering used to conserve energy. However, her morale was still very high.
I never imagined I would see the Seven Archangels turn on one another. And I never imagined I would enjoy it so much. Damn it… that hurts. Micaela sure knows how to strike. Luckily, her own fellow angels were more focused on fighting her.
I have to find Minagi again… I'm impressed that she managed to grab Sandalphone so easily. Did that small angel went completely catatonic because her sister died? It shows how weak they are without one another.
Owww… maybe she'll even be in a mood so good she will be willing to share some energy again. I would appreciate it.
…I hope she's doing fine. It's already been hours and I still can't find her in that damn maze. She better stay on her toes. She has a tendency to lose herself in her feeding when she's in the middle of a good meal. If Lucifina sneaks up to her at the wrong time… she's as good as dead.
Saja tried to increase her tempo, but quickly gave up. The bruises her ego was suffering would wait until her body had fully recovered before being taken care of.
The yoma noticed several more anomalies in her way. One place, a lone switch was hanging against a wall while several metal scraps had been crudely assembled in the shape of a human statue. Barely further ahead, a game table covered in cards and brass chips had been set near broken slot machines. Even later, Saja was met with the sight of a wrecked kitchen. The yoma took note of them, but she didn't give them more attention or tried understanding their purpose, whatever it could be.
That place is getting livelier… I'm pretty sure little Hiruko would have enjoyed that distraction. Speaking of, I wonder what became of everyone else? Even if this place is large and unnatural, I would have been bound to find a sign of her sooner or later… Kanon has been killed, but knowing Kanade, we whould have met one or more of her copies.
After a while spent wandering, Saja's senses noticed hints of Minagi. The pheromones the succubus was emitting when she was hornier than usual were filling the air, but the yoma's keen nose detected a subtle scent under it.
Is that the smell of blood? She's not one to enjoy it. Something happened if she had to resort to violence.
Letting her instinct guide her, Saja followed the trail, no matter how unpleasant the scent was. She was annoyed with how little effort Minagi made to conceal her presence given the dangers lurking about. The yoma slowly slithered across the yellow halls until she noticed a yellow mishap of human bent over a red section of the carpet, its long tubular tongue licking something on the floor. Saja released a small blast of energy aimed at the head of the creature. The attack was enough to kill it on the spot and tosss its remains across the splatter. The yoma continued on her way before her senses picked up the nature of the substance in front of her. Her emotions turned from annoyance, to confusion, to raw horror when she realized its nature.
That… that's a mix of angel and succubus blood. It's Minagi's mixed with that small angel's… How?! There's no way that creature was the one who killed them!
Saja examined the scene. She noticed that the bottom of the wall on one side was covered in blood, while nothing appeared on the other.
It's as if their blood got sprayed from a low point from this side with great force… They got crushed? What crushed them?
The yoma examined her surroundings. As if to answer her, she noticed that the ceiling of one of the hallways behind her was lower than the others. It was in fact still lowering, without a noise. Without a trace.
This is a joke… Minagi should have been able to escape it! She would have sensed that!
…if she wasn't busy violating one of the Seven Archangels at the time. She wouldn't have cared about the ceiling lowering, instead focusing on her favorite activity… she had completely shut herself from her surroundings.
…And now I realize I didn't ask her for any information about this place. We just went on our way in hope of finding angels to kill together. What knowledge that got lost in her death could have been of use to me?
Saja's breathing grew ragged as she nervously looked at her surroundings.
Angels turning again one another in the past is not unheard of, but… just what kind of force would push these ones to do the same?! They're conditioned to be utterly loyal to Ilias, and have shown to be infallible so far!
And Minagi… squashed like a vulgar vegetable… she's one of us! We are the Six Ancestors! A mere mechanical trap should not have any effect on her! Is an undignified death also waiting for me?!
We have critically underestimated this place. I need to focus on finding out more about it now before it is too late!
