Kairi and her friends chased Horace into a dry and sandy city.
"Come on, we gotta find him!" Daisy grunted, beginning her search.
Kairi helped but was still a little confused on what jus happened. "So that guy's from your- the real world, like you all?"
"That's right." Clarabelle answered quickly, as if that's all she needed to know.
"Oh." Kairi mumbled. She wanted to ask more like how he became their enemy, what he was like before, why he'd want to hurt keyblade wielders so bad but all that stuff had already been told to her, at least, the real version of her. She wished she knew it too so she didn't feel so disconnected from the situation.
She finally spotted someone after cutting away some Heartless but it wasn't Horace. It was a beautiful young woman also searching the town. "Excuse me, have you seen someone strange pass through here?"
"Not anyone, but some things…" She turned to her. "What I have seen is blocks and monsters roaming the streets, everyone's hiding in their homes because of it. I just came here to check on my friend, Aladdin. He's very important to me. If you don't mind…"
"We'll keep an eye out for her while we're searching for our person." Kairi assured him as the other two walked up. "It's no problem!"
"Wonderful! Thank you!" She gave a small nod to introduce herself. "I'm Jasmine."
"I'm Kairi and this is Clarabelle and Daisy."
Her companions gave waves.
"Wanna meet up in a little bit and report what we found?"
"Sounds good! Thank you!"
The gang started searching the bazaar that was crowded with shops and homes when they suddenly heard a man cry out: "For the last time, I don't know where she is!"
Kairi placed a finger to her lips to signal her friends to quiet as they snuck around the corner to see a young man in ragged clothing arguing with a thin and scary-looking man.
"Nonsense, the princess snuck out and met you days ago and now she is missing." The strange man hissed. "Where else would she go but to see you?"
"Jasmine snuck out of the palace just to see me…?" Aladdin flushed.
"Don't get cocky, street rat. Just tell me where she is so my reign will be complete!" The man placed his staff under the man's chin, raising it up. "Do so or suffer!"
"Leave him alone!" Kairi yelled. She used the element of surprise to knock him away. She looked back to the man as her friends approached.
"Aladdin! Are you okay, honey?" Clarabelle asked.
"Yeah but, how'd you know my name?" The man asked in surprise.
"Jasmine told us, she's been looking for you!" Daisy smiled.
"Just as I thought."
Kairi looked over on a rooftop to see the man from before smirking down at them.
"If you won't help me, street rat, perhaps they will. Now that I have other friends of the princess, I surely don't need you around!"
Daisy and Clarabelle blocked the cast of fire before Kairi used Gravity to lift up the sorcerer and drop him onto the hard ground.
"Grrr, this isn't over!" The man called before transporting away.
"Thanks for the help, guys." Aladdin sighed in relief. "It's nice to meet some other friends of Jasmine."
"Why was that creep looking for her anyway?" Kairi asked, unsummoning her keyblade as they began to walk back to the princess.
"Get this, he wants to marry her!"
"Marry?!" The trio chorused.
"Little rats, who are they anyway?!" Jafar scoffed. It had all been going according to plan until they showed up, strangers he'd never seen before.
"They're something special." Horace muttered, walking out from the shadows. He then took something out of his overall pocket. "Speaking of, I think this'll make you feel better."
"That lamp!" Jafar gasped. "It's the one I seek! The magic, wish-granting lamp!"
"Well, sorta. I made a copy of it out of glitches. " Horace exsplained. "You can have it but you got to promise to plunge this world into dark-!"
Jafar snatched it away before he could finishing, rubbing it quickly. "At last, all my plans will be realized! Heed me, spirit of the lamp! My first wish is to have to power to stop anyone in my way!"
"As long as you hurt this world, I don't really care what you do." Horace muttered, stomping away.
"Aladdin!"
"Jasmine!"
The two embraced while the trio looked on, happy they were reunited.
"I'm so glad you're alright!" Jasmine sighed in relief. "I just wish I could say the same for Agrabah…"
"Don't worry, I've got the solution to all our problems!" Aladdin announced. "I found it in a cave in the desert, Jafar doesn't stand a chance against it!"
"Think again, street rat!"
They turned to see Jafar waiting for them. "All of Agarabah will be mine, starting with its princess!"
Aladdin wasted no time shoving the common-looking oil lamp into Jasmine's hands as he got her out of the way, causing Jafar to grab him instead.
"Aladdin!" Jasmine tried to reach for him but was blasted away by some unseen force.
The trio tried to save their new friend only to be knocked back as well.
"I planned to capture you here and now, princess, but now that I've finally caught this elusive street rat, I can rid him of my kingdom forever!"
"No!" Jasmine cried, running at him.
"I shall see you at the altar, my dear. I shan't have you fret over wedding plans, leave it all to me!"
They were blinded by a bright light and when they blinked it away, Jafar and Aladdin were gone.
"We have to go after him!" Daisy cried.
The other two ran off while Kairi looked back to Jasmine, she hadn't said anything. "Jasmine? Are you okay?"
She didn't say a word, a look of anger frozen on her face as she held the lamp identical to the one Jafar had.
Kairi looked around then and noticed it was eerily quiet now. Sure, the bazaar had been quiet to begin with, but there was at least the sounds of canvas and tarps blowing in the wind, a few bits of jewelry clanking together now and then. "What's going on…?"
"It's Jafar, he's frozen over the whole city!" Minnie announced, startling them.
"What do we do? We can't leave the city like this!" Kairi protested.
"Don't worry, inside that lamp is a friend who can help us!" Clarabelle exclaimed.
She was about to take the lamp from Jasmine's hands when a blur of red and green snatched it up before her, it was some parrot. Seeing as he wasn't frozen, he had to be with Jafar.
"Hey!" Kairi called.
"What? You never heard of a three-talon discount? Jafar wouldn't tell me what this lamp does, but whatever it is will make me one happy parrot!"
They watched him fly off before giving a united sigh of disappointment.
"Guess Iago's still a bad guy here." Clarabelle mumbled. "We'll have to go after him!"
The trio chased after the bird, thankful the spell had frozen the Heartless too. They ended up back where they'd first met Aladdin and Jafar.
"Hey! You have to give it back! The city's in big trouble without it!" Clarabelle called.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I had no idea it was so important! Now I know it's worth hanging onto!" He flew off again.
"No more asking nicely!" Daisy grunted, running after him.
They wove through shops and frozen Heartless until Kairi saw the bird on a nearby awning. She grabbed her friends and hid them behind a nearby stand.
Iago landed to catch his breath when Kairi suddenly pounced on him. "Gotcha!"
"Ahh! I plead insanity!" The bird wailed. "I'm beggin' ya, cut a bird some slack!"
In his desperation to escape, Iago finally released the lamp and flew away.
"So long!" Kairi grinned, picking up her prize as her friends came out of hiding. "So you say there's a friend… inside this lamp?"
"That's right! All you gotta do is give it a rub!" Minnie answered.
"If you say so." She rubbed the lamp on her shirt.
The treasure suddenly began to wiggle and jolt about before a puff of smoke came out from its spout.
"Genie!" Her friends gasped in delight while Kairi stared in amazement.
"That's right! The one and only, Genie of the lamp is at your service, Al… Huh?" A blue ghost-like man wearing golden shackles had appeared and began searching for someone, poofing a magnifying glass into existence. He focused on the holder of the lamp. "You're not Al!"
"Uh, no." Kairi managed to get out, shrinking away from the suspious gaze. "My name's Kairi and these are my friends, Daisy and Clarabelle. We're friends of Aladdin and… well, he's in big trouble."
"Trouble?! What kind of trouble?!" Genie asked, bouncing between the three to demand answers. He suddenly relaxed. "Wait, why am I worried? Trouble is what wishes are made to stop!"
"So if you're a genie, you can grant us three wishes, right?" Kairi asked in clarification.
"Yes siree! One, two, three wishes, no more, no less!" Genie announced, numbering them off for her.
"First wish is kinda obvious." Daisy piped up.
"Oh, right!" Kairi remembered. "Well, my first wish is to break Jafar's time spell!"
"Coming right up!"
With a snap, it was like someone pressed play on the world again: the breeze returned along with the sounds of the bazaar.
"Kairi, Daisy, Clarabelle!" They turned to see Jasmine running to them. "I think Jafar stole the lamp-!"
She slid to a stop, looking just as surprised as Kairi had.
"Hellllo, princess!" Genie exclaimed. "Al's told me all about you, how you doing?"
"Ah, well, I'm alright…" Jasmine stammered in surprise, looking at her friends. "But Aladdin was captured by Jafar, the royal vizier…"
"Say no more! Genie is on the case!"
He wove around the friends as he thought for a moment or two before stopping suddenly.
"I got it! I found the crook!"
"You mean Jafar?" Daisy asked in hopefully.
"Genie, I wish for you to take us to him!"
"You got it!" Genie said, spreading out his arms as the group gathered around him. "Buckle up because here… we… goooo!"
He spun around, creating a great tornado that flew them deep into the desert where there was a cave shaped like a tiger head. In front of it was Jafar.
"You again!" Jafar hissed as they summoned their weapons. He noticed the genie beside them and gave a chuckle. "Ah, I see, you have the real lamp. That's how you broke my spell and followed me all the way here…"
"Where's Aladdin?" Jasmine growled suddenly, making her way to the front of the group.
"The boy is taking his near final rest…just beyond this door." Jafar motioned to the tiger cave but there wasn't any visible way to enter.
Jasmine ran to the cave in an attempt to find the door when Jafar made his second wish: that the heroes wouldn't find them as they escaped. The wish was granted with a cloud of heavy mist. When it cleared, Jafar and Jasmine were gone.
"Oh no!" Clarabelle gasped. "They gone through the door!"
"What door? There is no door." Daisy pointed out.
Kairi frowned deeply, looking to the genie for help. "You know this place, don't you? Do you know where the entrance would be?"
"Hmm, I guess usually the tiger's mouth would be open. That's the way everyone used to get in."
"So that means…" Kairi placed her hand to the tiger's chin only for it to fall through. "There is a door here! It's probably the system sector!"
Her friends watched with slight worry as she plunged in.
While the team searched for Jafar, Minnie and Sora were busy trying to find Horace.
"Any sign of him?" Minnie asked.
Sora shook his head, taking a quick break from staring at the screen. "None… I just don't get how he made it into the journal! I never invited him yet he says he got here the same way you did…"
"Guess we'll have to ask him." Minnie said softly.
Sora stared at the static a bit longer before giving a sigh. "I just don't get it. I'm connected to the other journal, so I know about Horace and that he used to be friends with you all. What turned him against you?"
"It wasn't something, it was someone." Minnie revealed quietly. "Me. He left us because he was jealous of my relationship with the King and believed all of our friends loved me more, which isn't true."
Sora tilted his head.
"The people of Disney Town love all their friends dearly. But I showed up and… I don't know what I did besides help where I could and be kind to everyone I met. I shouldn't have been given as much attention as I was but before I knew it, I was elected to be Queen. Shortly after, Horace left, claiming keyblade wielders like me were stealing away his friends… I wasn't there but I wish I was. Maybe I could've apologized and got him to stay… I at least should've told Daisy and Clarabelle but… I didn't want them to see him any different in their hearts."
"It's a bit too late for that…" Sora whispered. "Do you think you and Horace could ever be friends again?"
"I don't know… All I can do is believe we will, believe with all my heart."
After Kairi finished the sector, the tiger mouth slowly yawned open, finally revealing the true entrance.
Genie suddenly shivered after peering in. "I'm sensing a triple-dose of magic traps in there!"
"That means they're guarding something… Must be Aladdin and Jasmine." Daisy thought aloud.
"Sounds like a good bet to me! Let's go!" Genie cried.
The group first went down a narrow path covered in Heartless before they heard a rumbling.
"Heads up!" Genie bellowed, shoving them all into a nearby cranny. The boulder rolled right through him.
"That was close. Thanks, Genie." Kairi sighed in relief.
They managed to time it just right so they ran down the narrow path and avoided all boulders.
"Think we're getting close?" Daisy asked after a few moment of catching their breath before they continued on.
Genie nodded. "We're almost there! Soon Aladdin and Jasmine will be free as birds! I might turn green with envy." He turned a shade of bright green before poofing back to his normal blue.
"Huh? Why?" Kairi asked and then she realized what a silly question that was. Genie couldn't go wherever he wanted like them, he had to stick with the owner of the lamp and grant their wishes, never getting to fulfill any of his own. "Oh, I'm sorry, Genie… I never put myself in your shoes…"
"That's okay, I don't have any!" Genie joked through the awkward situation. "But there's genie-hood for you! Phenomenal, cosmic power… Itty-bitty living space… Wow, déjà vu! I think I said the same thing to Al. Ya know, he seemed to understand more than the others… Even said he'd use his last wish to set me free."
"You guys must be close friends for him to give his wish to you. And now, you're braving this place even though it was your prison to help him." Kairi smiled softly. She wished Daisy and Clarabelle were on the journey simply to help her but she knew they couldn't be. They were with her to find a way home, to Kairi, the real person they were friends with.
They finally reached the lamp chamber where Aladdin and Genie first met. Jafar stood on a raised platform and smirked down at them, Aladdin and Jasmine were unconscious by his feet. "You avoided all my traps, perhaps you are more than just street rats. Why not serve me? I shall give you anything you desire."
"Anything at all?" Kairi asked, seeming to think it over. "Well, I just want Jasmine to be free!"
"Yeah, Aladdin too!" Clarabelle chimed in.
Daisy added on. "And let the princess marry whoever she chooses!"
"Enough!" Jafar growled in annoyance. "I was going to use my last wish to make Jasmine love me but it seems I have no choice! Spirit of the lamp, I wish for you to make me an all powerful genie!"
A bright light engulfed Jafar before red mist filled the room and then congregated together to form the now genie Jafar. He gave a laugh before disappearing suddenly. Just as he left, the world began to quake.
"Where'd he go?!"
"What's going on?!"
"Don't panic, guys! Jafar's still close by!" Sora suddenly announced.
Minnie chimed in. "The world is shaking means he must be causing chaos inside the keyhole!"
"Of course!" Kairi nodded. That was where her journeys often lead to. She was glad to see her friends were already hacking away at the blocks guarding the keyhole. She summoned her keyblade before pointing it at the keyhole. Her friends wished her luck as she was sucked in.
"Impressive, girl, but your efforts are useless!" Jafar cackled down at her. "I am invincible! Nothing can touch me now!"
Kairi was only just able to dodge a giant ball of magma and wipe the sweat off her face before firing a blast of ice at Jafar to no effect.
"Huh?" No matter what she tried, Jafar was able to resist it, leaving her stumped as to what she should do.
"Genie here! Kairi, you read me?"
Kairi dodged a blast of lava. "Uh, I'm kinda in the middle of something!"
"Ooh, sorry. Just wanted to give you a heads up: Jafar really is invincible, it comes with being a genie…! Oh, you probably already figured that out."
"Yeah! So, how do I stop a genie?!"
"Well, you know what stops me, right?"
"Of course, your… lamp!" Kairi spotted the black oil lamp dangling from Iago's claws. Jafar must've summoned him to keep it safe. "I'm on it!"
She hopped from platform to platform after the bird before shooting a blast of fire.
"Ay! Too hot, too hot!" Iago screeched, narrowly avoiding it. He lost his grip on the lamp, leading it to fall right into Kairi's hands.
"Jafar, you wanted to be a genie?! Well, you get all that comes with it!" Kairi showed him the lamp. "Return to your lamp!"
"What?! No! NOOO!" Jafar howled as he was sucked into the lamp. It rattled slightly before it suddenly stopped and then disappeared.
Kairi gave a sigh in relief. "It's over…"
"Why do you always gotta mess things up for me?!"
She spun around to find Horace had been watching her. "You!"
The horse started to run the moment he was seen, and Kairi chased right after him.
She leapt out of the keyhole, her friends were quick to join the chase. Genie suddenly appeared beside her. "Leaving so soon?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry, Genie!" Kairi sighed in realization, sliding to a stop while her friends continued the chase. She quickly gave him back his lamp before giving him a big hug. "Can you bring Aladdin and Jasmine home for us?"
"That's wish number 2! What's number tres?"
Kairi blinked in surprise. She didn't have much time to make a third wish, even if she knew what it would be. Besides, that wish was something someone else should make. "Give my last wish to Aladdin. He found the lamp first, but more importantly, he was your friend first and he made you a promise. Just letting him fulfill it, that's all."
"Gosh, kid…" Genie wiped away some tears before smiling. "Thank you!"
"There's nothing to thank me for! You did all that stuff to help us out!" Kairi grinned. "Enjoy your freedom, Genie."
She ran after Horace, which lead her right back to the entrance of the tiger cave. No one was there…
"Where'd everyone go?" Kairi asked softly.
"Guess they up and left ya! Them's the breaks, kid."
She turned to see a man appear in a puff of smoke. He had blue skin and fire for hair. The Lord of the Dead. "W-Who are you?"
"Hades, Lord of the Dead, soon to be Lord of the Datascape!" Hades announced. He smirked as she summoned her keyblade. "Isn't this familiar? Sunspot did the same thing when she first met me. Guess you can't help being a copycat though.
Kairi looked around in worry when he disappeared, his voice echoing around her. "I-I'm just as real as the other Kairi!"
"Oh please, you don't believe that! You know the truth, ya little program. Everything about you: your appearance, your personality, even this!" She was suddenly jerked back and the keyblade slipped from her hand. He appeared in front of her once more. "It's all fake!"
In a second he shattered the keyblade into pieces, the green code flickered over it before it disappeared for good.
"NO!" Kairi screamed but she was held back by the Heartless that began to flood into the world once again.
"Oh, yes! Now this whole datascape will be run by yours truly!" Hades laughed. "Heartless, sink this world and all the rest into darkness!"
"This can't be happening…" Kairi whispered, she felt hot tears rolling down her face. "Without the keyblade, I'm-"
"You're friendless once more!" Hades finished for her. "If you even count those two as friends. They only helped you because you had the keyblade and reminded them of their precious little Kairi. They ran off because they knew I could only be defeated by a real keyblade, meaning you were helpless!"
"Real…?"
"A real keyblade is made from a strong heart. She was destined to wield it unlike some knockoff like you…."
"That's enough!"
Minnie and Sora appeared in a flash of code with Horace appearing at Hades' side.
"Hades, what have you done with our friends?!" Minnie demanded.
"Calm down, Your Highness! Horace here just led them right back where they started, that study."
"Not the real one, I cut that link." Horace explained, looking a bit regretful.
"So it was you who blocked their way home!" Sora grunted in surprise, helping Kairi up.
"Yes, I used it to travel here. When I was visiting the castle on Hades' orders, I sneaked into the study to find you guys gathered around the computer. A bright light appeared and I was sucked into the journal along with you. Hades came in right after…"
"Horace, you don't have to work for him, I know you regret some of this!" Minnie cried, seeing the guilty look on his face.
"You're right, I regret hurting my friends… but it'll all be worth it in the end." Horace glared at her. "By the time we're done, this whole realm will be covered in darkness with you trapped inside, never to take them away from me again!"
Hades gave a sigh as if disappointed. "Look, we don't gotta argue about this! Fact is, I'm going to take over this datascape!"
Kairi and Sora gave each other a scared look. This guy wanted to take over not only their world, their universe!
"I'm sure you're asking, why, Hades? Couldn't you just take over the real world while we're trapped here, rotting away? And I'll say, good point, enemies! Better point, I've had some badddd experiences with data before. This is just making a side quest of mine before I move on to making my real dreams come true."
"You'll never win." Sora growled. "This scape is based on the journal's data, you can't take over without it!"
"That's right!" Minnie added. "We'll defeat you here and now!"
Sora and Minnie summoned their weapons, running at him before they were flung back by a ring of fire.
"You two act like I didn't do my research!" The god cried, placing a hand to his heart. "What do you think I was doing while Horace led you on a wild goose chase? That's right! Finding where the data was hiding!"
Sora grimaced when Hades pointed to him. He scrambled to his feet. "I have all the combat data of the journal stored in me, I can take you down easy! There's no way I'm coming with you!"
"I think you'll have to reconsider…" Hades smiled knowingly, putting his arm out. "If you ever want to this one back again!"
With a snap, the slumbering Riku appeared trapped in tendrils of smoke.
"Riku!" Kairi and Sora chorused, jolting forward.
"No!" Minnie cried.
"Shhh, let him sleep a bit longer… After all, he'll only be Riku for a bit longer." Hades grinned, placing a claw under the boy's chin. "I have big plans for your little prince. Add a few bugs in his system and he's sure to wake up!"
"Don't you dare!" Kairi yelled, Sora grabbed her before she could rush the man. She had no weapon to defend herself with, it would be suidice.
Red and black blocks suddenly appeared in Hades' hand, showing how serious he was. He raised them up to the boy's face, making him wince in his sleep. "Say goodbye…!"
"Don't!"
Hades paused, a smirk hitting his face as he looked to Sora. "You got something to say, champ?"
Sora bowed his head before walking to him. He glared up at the man before offering his hand to shake. "I'll go with you, but you have to promise Riku gets to go with the others!"
"It's a deal!" Hades grabbed the boy's hand before Sora appeared in Riku's place, the other boy being kicked over to Kairi and Minnie.
"Sora!" Kairi cried, hugging Riku close before handing him to Minnie. "Give him back!"
"No! And you can't make me!" Hades grinned sharply, grabbing Sora by the arm and shaking him slightly to prove the point. The boy gave a muffled growl.
"Stop! Just give him back! " Kairi cried.
"Kairi!" Minnie called in warning but the girl was already running at Hades.
He, Horace, and Sora vanished into smoke, leaving Kairi to fall to the ground.
"See you when I take over your world, sunspot!"
His laughter echoed around the desert.
The girl wavered slightly, clenching fistfuls of sand before letting out a sob. "Sora…!"
