A/N: I forgot to mention in the prologue that in order to get the series of events, and how they happened, i played Ruby's adventure in Skyrim myself, and the adventure is modded. I don't have any mods that would get in the way of the game, just a few things that would effect the descriptions a bit for some things, add new places that weren't there before, a faction that should have been in base game to begin with, and a few monsters that don't exist in the unmodded version. Just keep this in mind going forward.
The darkness soon faded away, and the feeling of magic being the lowest that the Wanderer had felt in so long, and they looked at the landscape before them. Pale blue snow covered the ground, towering dead black trees surrounded the armored figure for what looked like miles, and a dark night sky with a shattered moon that was overhead. One side of the dead forest was leveled, and worn down. While the other had a more upward slope, with a single trail of footsteps that led to somewhere.
This is where I was when I fell.
It was an odd feeling to be at the place that had a sinkhole crumble under them, but there it was, no sinkhole in sight, as if it was just a dream that they had. Sighing, The Wanderer followed the trail of footsteps, having a feeling on where they lead.
Step by step, a sinking feeling became more and more unbearable, like it was leading to something that The Wanderer might regret. The footsteps were fresh, showing that someone had been there quite recently. And the smell in the air was familiar to The Wanderer, but not nearly enough to tell them who it was.
Eventually, The Wanderer got to where they were heading, a cliff that they used to hang out at. Now, there was someone there, kneeling in front of something. The Wanderer took another step, stepping on a twig that they were unaware of.
The person was startled by the sound, and quickly turned around, holding her hands up like she was ready for a fight. She had a thick mop of long blond hair, pale skin, and lilac eyes. It took a little bit, but The Wanderer recognized who the person was.
They held up their hands in a sign of peace, and gestured for the other person to let her guard down. Of course, the person didn't and her face got more angry. The Wanderer rolled their eyes, even though the other couldn't see it. Through a sigh, The Wanderer took off their helmet, startling the person even more, but she took a step back instead of a step forward.
The Wanderer had short black hair that ended in red, snow white skin like it had never seen the sun, her right eye being silver and glowed like the moon while the other was faded, and a scar that ran from just above their left eyebrow and ran over her eye down to her jaw. The other person was so startled by The Wanderer, that she slipped, and fell off the edge of the cliff. Luckily The Wanderer was there to catch her by the foot, and drag her back up to solid ground.
"You got to be more careful, you almost got killed" The Wanderer said in a dark tone, looking down at the girl that was still in shock.
"Well, it was good seeing you again, even if it wasn't for long" The Wanderer then said, putting her helmet back on, and walked away. She was almost to the path, when the person scrambled back up, The Wanderer knowing that it was the case.
"Wait!" she shouted, running toward The Wanderer. She internally sighed, and turned back to the older girl. For some reason, she started panting heavily when she stopped running. "How are, you, here. I watched you, fall to, your, death" she said in between breaths.
I don't remember her being this out of breath over a little run.
It took a little to for her thoughts to form, but with another sigh, she looked away from the person before speaking, barely able to say a couple words.
"It's complicated…" they forced out with a low tone. The Wanderer didn't know how to explain where she was, and honestly just wanted to walk away, and pretend that the encounter never happened. The person stood up strait, her face scrunched in anger.
"What could be so complicated?!" she yelled to The Wanderer, "My dead sister is standing right in front of me?! And you dare say that it's too complicated?!" by then, Yang's face was red with anger, and The Wanderer just stood there, unable to truly form her thoughts. It was true that it had been some time since she last saw her sister, but it didn't mean that she was ready to see the older girl again.
The Wanderer took off her helmet again, and placed it down in the snow, not looking at her sister. She was trying to think through her thoughts, before the caw of a crow caught her attention. The Wanderer stood up, and looked at where the caw came from, only to see a crow sitting in one of the dead trees. She took a deep breath, and whispered three words.
Laas Yah Nir
Those three words, though quiet, were just enough to tell her that the crow, was not a crow. It's aura was not that of a simple bird, but instead is that of a human, a human that was most likely in disguise. The Wanderer squinted her eyes at the crow, making it look a little uncomfortable.
"Do you know who that is?" The Wanderer quietly asked, making her voice just loud enough for Yang to hear. The older sister looked confused by the question, and even more so when she looked at the crow. Then she looked back at The Wanderer.
"Don't try to change the subject", even with the statement, The Wanderer took out the crossbow the she had sitting on her back, just under her cape. She loaded the crossbow with a bolt that was as cold as ice, and rested her finger on the trigger.
This the last time, birdie.
And with one swift motion, she pulled the trigger, forcing the crow to fly away, with where the bolt hit being frozen solid. The crow flew to who knows where, but at least it wasn't watching the two.
"Ruby! What the fuck?!" Yang shouted, her hands shot into the air for emphasis.
"It was watching us" The Wanderer pointed out.
"Not that, you could have hurt someone", The Wanderer was getting tired of the conversation, and just wanted to leave and rest.
When did she start caring about that?
"No one else is here, and I'm not a bad aim" she stated, holding up her crossbow on her shoulder. The two were in silence for a bit, as one thought remained in The Wanderer's mind.
I should have jumped when I had the chance.
Just as she had that thought, the faint sound of footsteps could be heard getting closer, and judging by the smell, it wasn't anything that The Wanderer wanted to deal with.
"Look, I have to go" she calmly said as she picked her helmet up from the snow. Yang didn't look happy about it, but she didn't say anything, she just turned away from the younger sister.
"It's nothing personal, maybe I will see you again some other time", and with that, she put her helmet back on, and walked away from the upset Yang. The Wanderer didn't have any ill will against being around Yang, but it had been so long that she just needed some time to think, no matter how long it took.
