Author's note: My sincere apologies for taking nearly a month to update this! You'd think having an outline in the form of a previous story would make writing this story easy, but nope, nope, not at all. Still my apologies for the delay and I will do my best to have the next one out a lot sooner than now!

Chapter 10: Creating New Memories
Sasuke had no idea just how much he had missed celebrating Christmas until he arrived at Naruto's home the next day and Minato opened the door, wearing a Christmas hat.
Upon seeing Sasuke's look, Minato huffed amused and touched the white pompon of his Christmas hat. "Kushina is a rather big fan of Christmas," he explained with a wry smile. His smile turned genuine when he added, "I'm glad you could come."
"Thank you for the invitation," Sasuke said and stepped inside when Minato gestured for him to enter.
"Honey, is that Sasuke-kun?" Kushina's voice floated from the kitchen into the hallway. Not even a couple of seconds later she appeared, wearing a beautiful deep red dress. For the occasion she also wore gold bangles around each wrist.
She smiled brightly and clapped her hands when she saw Sasuke. "Sasuke-kun! I'm glad you came! Merry Christmas!"
"Merry Christmas," he returned the greeting, putting his bag down so that he could take off his coat and exchange his shoes for his house slippers.
"Mum, I finished the sauce, what's next?" Naruto's voice piped up.
When Sasuke looked up, he caught Naruto's eyes and the blond boy beamed. "Sasuke, Merry Christmas!"
"Merry Christmas." He bent down and picked up his bag, lifting it higher up in the air for a moment. "I got some presents. Where can I put them?"
"In the living room on the table is fine," Kushina said, before turning to address Naruto. "You and Sasuke-kun can keep yourselves entertained for a bit; your dad will help finish up dinner."
"Come, mum already prepared some hot chocolate milk," Naruto said and tugged Sasuke along to the living room while Kushina and Minato went back to the kitchen.
"Chocolate milk right before dinner?" Sasuke raised an eyebrow. Sure, it was a rather early dinner, but still.
He spotted a little pile of colourfully wrapped packages on the table. He put his own presents with the others and smiled faintly when he caught sight of a small Christmas tree propped up near the window.
"Hm, mum always goes a little wild on Christmas," Naruto chuckled and plopped down on the couch. "She claims Christmas is the one day nobody should care about their weight."
"She's quite the fan of Christmas, hm?" Sasuke mused and sat down next to the blond, letting him link their pinkies together.
"Yeah, it's one of her favourite holidays," Naruto confirmed. "I think my godfather, Jiraiya, got her infected with the Christmas spirit after all those times he celebrated it in other countries."
"Where is your godfather now?"
"Still in another country, France maybe?" Naruto answered and shrugged. "He called dad a few days ago; his flight got cancelled because of a strike there so he'll be returning home later this week."
"Does he spend a lot of time in other countries?" Sasuke asked curiously.
"Hm, a fair amount of the year at least. It depends on where his job takes him," Naruto replied and leant back against the couch. "He does try to visit at least a couple of times in the month, though, if he happens to be travelling around a lot."
He smiled then, his cheeks pinking slightly as he darted forwards to peck Sasuke's lips. "I'm glad you're here," he murmured and unhooked their pinkies, only to grasp Sasuke's hand next and squeeze it gently.
Sasuke looked down at their entwined hands and smiled. "Yeah, me too."
Sasuke had been a bit worried about how Naruto would react to the first present he had bought for the Omega. He knew without a doubt that Naruto would love the gift card of Ichiraku's Ramen, because the other boy was simply obsessed with ramen, especially when it was prepared by that particular ramen shop.
Naruto's eyes did indeed lit up a lot and he made a move as if to jump on Sasuke and kiss him when he opened the envelop and released what kind of gift card had been stuffed inside.
"That is definitely the most perfect present you could buy for Naru," Kushina laughed after she got a hold on the card. "I didn't even know they did gift cards!"
"I asked the owner and he said it's not something he tends to advertise unless people ask him about it," Sasuke explained and couldn't help but smirk when Naruto practically vibrated next to him.
Naruto chose to expel his happiness in the form of several light, quick slaps against Sasuke's arms. "This is one of the best presents I've ever got!" he gushed; his eyes shining brightly.
"You still got to open the second one," Sasuke pointed out, but couldn't help but feel slightly nervous and he started to doubt himself, tightening his grip around the samurai book Naruto had gifted him.
Should he have gone for something else instead? It had seemed like such a good idea back then when he had encountered it in the store, but now it seemed too ridiculous, too childish.
Naruto was quick to rip away the paper of the second gift and his mouth dropped open when he held up the stuffed frog in the air. It was a bright green with shiny black buttons for eyes and its mouth stretched open in a grin; part of its tongue stitched to the left cheek. Its limbs were floppy and its body was rather broad and soft; it could act like a makeshift pillow.
"This is so cute!" Naruto cooed delighted and prodded the stuffed toy in its stomach. "I love it!"
"I'm glad," Sasuke smiled, watching him poke and prod at the limbs.
Naruto's adoration for frogs was a tad more subtle than his love for ramen or orange was, but Sasuke had a while ago taken note of the small crystal frog statue displayed on the windowsill, right next to a small cactus. Its position shifted slightly often, indicating that Naruto picked it up regularly. The blond boy also was quite fond of the frog themed blanket that acted as an extra blanket these nights. He often wrapped himself up in it like a burrito before he would press up against Sasuke.
"Well, I think it's safe to say that Sasuke-kun won in the department of giving the best presents," Kushina joked; the tip of her nose was a light cherry red, courtesy of the wine she and her husband were indulging in.
"If you're not careful, you might end up having to deal with a pile of stuffed frogs," Minato chuckled amused.
"What would be wrong with that?" Naruto sniffed, a tad offended.
"Nothing, nothing," Minato soothed his son quickly, raising his hands in the air for a moment.
A faint ding in the kitchen let them know that the cupcakes were finished heating up and Kushina hurried to take them out of the oven, calling out to Minato to grab the ice cream from the freezer.
"Thanks for the gifts," Naruto murmured and the second Minato was in the kitchen, their mouths found each other for a short but sweet kiss.
It left Sasuke's lips tingling; something not even the coldness of the ice cream could combat.
"Kakashi-san isn't bothered that you're here today?" Naruto questioned later on and closed the door behind him until it stood slightly ajar.
They had just finished with the dishes, leaving Minato and Kushina to reminisce about their school days with a glass of wine. They had given Naruto and Sasuke a little bit of wine as well, a treat because it was Christmas, but Sasuke couldn't say he really enjoyed the bitter taste of the wine.
After Sasuke had put away the last plate, Naruto had suggested they go upstairs to his room to spend some time alone before they would have to get ready to go to sleep.
"No, he isn't. I told you he's not that into celebrating Christmas," Sasuke reminded him and sat down on the bed when Naruto urged him towards it.
All Kakashi had done this morning was wish him a Merry Christmas and tell him to enjoy himself at Naruto's house. Knowing the older Alpha, he was currently enjoying takeout whilst watching an old detective movie, like he usually did on Christmas.
"He could have still wanted you to stay home with him," Naruto riposted, his face lightening up when Sasuke pulled him down next to him.
Sasuke rolled his eyes. "He really doesn't care about things like that. As long as he knows where I am, it doesn't matter to him."
Case in point, he never made an issue of Sasuke staying the night at Naruto's home, no matter how often that occurred throughout the week. As long as Sasuke showed up at his house occasionally or replied to his texts, the older man was content to leave him be.
Naruto hummed and laid down, tugging at Sasuke's wrist until Sasuke understood the hint and acquiesced, lying down next to him. "But you didn't mind spending Christmas with us?"
Really, Naruto could ask such inane questions at times. Hadn't it been obvious that Sasuke had enjoyed himself today? Even the thought that he could never share another Christmas with his parents and his brother hadn't been enough to drag him down today; Naruto's presence and that of his parents strong enough to subdue those dark thoughts.
"Why would I mind that?" Sasuke sighed, wrapping an arm around Naruto's waist, feeling the way his stomach muscles tensed up for a couple of seconds before they relaxed. "I liked it. I haven't celebrated Christmas since my family died."
Truthfully he had never been in the mood to celebrate it after that night. Kakashi would probably have celebrated with him if he really had expressed a desire for it, but he would only be reminded of who he was missing. Kakashi did his best, no doubt, but he would never be able to replace Sasuke's parents or even his brother. So what would have been the point in celebrating when doing so would only hurt too much?
It had felt almost natural to agree to Kushina's invitation yesterday, though, and for the first time in years Sasuke found himself enjoying Christmas once more, taking pleasure in the delicious food and enjoying the way the others would lit up when they unwrapped their gifts.
Naruto turned his head slightly to look at him and then they were kissing properly for the first time today. The couple of kisses they had sneaked every time Naruto's parents had left the room had been fun, but being able to kiss like this, feel Naruto's plush mouth for longer than a couple of seconds was infinitely better.
Their kiss grew quickly more insistent, their mouths meeting each other with more pressure; Sasuke's hand curving around Naruto's hip. The bed creaked quietly as they shifted around, pressing closer against each other. Naruto's hands came to rest on Sasuke's shoulders; his fingers drawing restless circles into the Alpha's shoulder blades. Feeling a bit daring, Sasuke opened his mouth a bit and swiped his tongue tentatively across Naruto's lower lip. Naruto's breathing hitched before he slowly parted his lips a bit, allowing Sasuke's tongue inside. The tips of their tongues touched each other; the sensation electrifying and alien at the same time.
Naruto's fingers clamped down harder around his shoulders as their tongues slowly moved against each other, testing out this new type of kiss. There was heat stirring in Sasuke's lower belly and the urge to press down on Naruto and rub against him was almost overwhelming. Not wanting to go too far yet, he pulled away, slowing down their heated kiss until his lips brushed gently against Naruto's. They both breathed harder, the sound loud in the otherwise quiet room and Sasuke took pleasure in the blush spreading out across Naruto's cheeks and the bridge of his nose.
"You staying the night?" Naruto asked; his voice soft and his breath a hot puff of air against Sasuke's face.
"Of course. I brought a spare set of clothes with me," Sasuke replied and Naruto grinned at him, before burying his face into his shoulder.
It had perhaps been rather presumptuous to take an extra set of clothes with him when he hadn't even been certain whether Naruto would want him to spend the night. Clearly not that presumptuous, though, and his arm tightened around Naruto's waist.
It would be nice to spend the night together again after having slept on his own for the past week. He hadn't had the best of sleep, thanks to his worries that he had fucked up their friendship; the lack of Naruto's scent hadn't helped him either. He had discovered a while ago that Naruto's scent was a near guarantee for a good night's sleep and he couldn't wait to spend the night wrapped around him again.
Right as Sasuke had disposed of the towel and walked out of the bathroom, he caught a glimpse of red hair disappearing down the hallway. He looked at Naruto's bedroom, through which the open door was showing light spilling out.
He walked into Naruto's bedroom and saw his boyfriend sitting on the bed, already dressed for the night. Sasuke flipped off the light on his way over to the bed, leaving only the small lamp on the nightstand still glowing.
"Was that your mum?" he asked, tilting his head to the right. He had thought she was still downstairs, getting rid of the wine glasses before she and Minato would retire for the evening as well.
"Yeah, came to talk to me for a bit," Naruto confirmed and wriggled underneath the blankets before holding them up as an invitation for Sasuke to get into the bed as well.
Sasuke accepted the silent invitation and slipped underneath the blankets, running his hand through his still damp hair. "What about?"
"She knows about us."
Sasuke paused, not entirely certain whether he had heard Naruto correctly. She knew about them as in she knew they were a couple? How long? They had just become a couple yesterday, what had given them away?
"About us – as in she knows we're together?" he asked for confirmation.
Naruto pushed his cold feet against his own; by now Sasuke had become used to the ice blocks that were considered to be Naruto's feet and so he didn't even flinch, merely shifted his feet around so that he could cover Naruto's and begin warming them up.
"Yep." Naruto's mouth popped as he replied, staring at Sasuke.
Well, that was – unexpected. He hadn't thought Kushina would pick up on their changed relationship that quickly. If she knew, did that mean that Minato knew as well? If so, they had kept remarkably silent about it. He had expected an interrogation at the very least.
"Ah. Your dad?"
"Doesn't know about it yet. Guess mum will leave that up to us."
Well, that explained why Minato hadn't interrogated him then. Still, how had Kushina found out so quickly?
"She's okay with it?" Sasuke asked belatedly.
He didn't think Naruto would sit here so calmly if Kushina had given him grief about it, but he couldn't help but pose the question regardless.
"Yeah, totally."
That was good then. He was still confused as to how she had managed to discover that he was dating her son, but as long as she wouldn't get angry about it, that was fine. Still, with her now knowing about it, he should probably move downstairs. Naruto's parents had tolerated their sleepovers in spite of their Status' because they were best friends, but Sasuke doubted sincerely that Kushina would still be all right with an Alpha sharing her son's bed now that the Alpha in question was dating her Omega son.
"Huh, should I go downstairs to sleep on the couch then?" Sasuke suggested uncertainly, and lifted up the corner of the blanket to get up again.
It would suck no longer being able to sleep together with Naruto, but he also wasn't about to risk pissing off Kushina either. He liked his balls right where they were after all and no doubt she would rip them off if he dared to still share a bed with her son.
Naruto snatched his wrist before he could slip completely out of bed. "No! You don't have to! I asked and she said it was okay to sleep in one bed."
What.
"She doesn't mind that we're sharing a bed," Sasuke repeated flatly, eyeing Naruto dubiously.
He was sharing a bed with her Omega son – how could she not mind that?
"No, she really doesn't. Trust me, if she did, you'd know," Naruto snorted before he furrowed his eyebrows. "Anyway, you're the 'guest' of this house, so it would have been me taking the couch if we had to sleep separately."
"As if I'd let you sleep on the couch," Sasuke scoffed, but dropped the blanket.
If Kushina really was oaky with them still sharing a bed, he wasn't about to look a gifted horse in the mouth then.
"What's wrong with me sleeping on the couch? Not like I haven't done that before," Naruto retorted bemused.
As if Sasuke would let him sleep on the couch. There was no way to ensure he was safe if he slept downstairs on the couch. At least if Sasuke had to sleep downstairs, he would know immediately if someone tried to break in.
"Naruto, you're not going to sleep on the couch," Sasuke stated firmly and plunged the room in darkness before Naruto could open his mouth again. "If anybody would have to, I would go."
Naruto huffed. "Don't know what your issue is with the couch, bastard," he mumbled, shuffling deeper underneath the blanket and grasping at Sasuke's shirt. "It would make more sense for me to sleep on the couch than you."
"No, it wouldn't," Sasuke retorted and pulled Naruto closer to him, wrapping his arm around his stomach. "It doesn't matter anyway, because your mum still lets us sleep together."
"Yeah, my mum's awesome," Naruto sighed, turning around until his nose was pressed against Sasuke's shoulder. He slung his own arm around Sasuke and his leg across Sasuke's thighs, trapping him against the bed.
"She is," Sasuke agreed, because really how else could she be described when she still trusted him enough to sleep in the same bed as her son? He pressed a soft kiss pressed against Naruto's forehead, feeling him still. "Good night."
"Yeah, good night."
For the first time in a week, Sasuke had no problems falling asleep.
AN2: I know it's a shorter than the previous ones, but I felt that considering the drama that lies ahead, having one fluffy chapter would balance it out *coughs*
