Chapter 16: How To Slay A Dragon

Misty's and the others had heard what Wufong just said about Shi and his latest pawn.

"I can't enhance something that isn't already there...Misty's obsession, hatred, envy, jealousy, resentment and lust...it was already deep inside her...all I did was help bring it out to...make her more agreeable if you will..."Wufong said, clearly thinking less of her with each word.

Misty heard all of this via the Fenton phones and felt horrible.

"I guess he's not wrong..."She said, looking ashamed of herself and lowering the Fenton Phone.

Her mother took a step forward, putting her hand on her daughter's shoulder. However, she then heard something that she didn't expect to hear from Danny.

"Even so...you tried to control her and use her just as a means to get her pregnant to take our kid...and she snapped out it. She stopped because she realized what she was doing is wrong, and that you're just a toxic influence in her life. There's more good in her than you realized..."Danny said, unaware that Misty still heard this.

The dark haired girl heard this and felt a little better now.

"At least someone thinks that about me, even though he's the last person in the world that should..."She said, a small smile on her face as she wiped away a single tear on her cheek.

However, someone didn't give her time to reflect on Danny's words for long.

That someone was Star, who was focused on the danger and had her concerns on a much different problem that has yet to appear.

"We gotta do something. What are those side effects you were talking about?..."Star asked, worried for her boyfriend.

Misty grabbed her spell book, and tried to read it.

"Uh...this part is in ancients Chinese and...I don't exactly know all the words..."Misty said, having trouble understanding some words here.

"Of course you don't..."Star said in exasperation.

"Its not my fault. I had to check the dictionary and later had Wufong translate the tough ones for me..."Misty said defensively.

Laolao grabbed the spell book and did a quick read.

"Okay, it says here that it's not life threatening..."Laolao translated, as she was fluent in Chinese.

"Thank you, Laolao..."Misty said, relieved to hear that.

"Heh... don't thank me... but I think we should get Danny something as a reward for his aid... like aloe vera cream..." Laolao said, much to their confusion.

"I'm afraid to ask but... why?..." Star asked.

"Well...Since Misty didn't transfer her magic to Danny in the...other way for lovers, which those two are FAR too young for...and taking his own unique powers into account...The magic that she gave Danny didn't flow through him as easily and will cause his body to react in a...certain way..." Suyin explained in a way that American teenagers understand, which left Star, Misty and the rest of Team Phantom to worry about Danny.

"Meaning?!..."Star asked, nervous before the old lady began to explain more clearly.

With Danny

Danny was still fighting Wufong, without giving up.

All he knew is that he had to is wear him out enough to find Wufong and use the Thermos on him.

"Surrender, Scaly...before I think up another combo attack to imitate from my favorite video games.."Danny said, as he fired at the evil stone dragon.

"As you Westerners say, as if! I only have to wait until you start experiencing the side effects!..."Wufong said smugly.

This got the ghost boy's attention.

"Side effects?..."He repeated, not liking the sound of that.

Just then, felt his skin start to itch intensely.

"What the?!..."Danny exclaimed, as he started scratching.

"Ah, it's started..." Wufong said smirking.

"Oh man, what now?..."Danny asked, feeling himself unable to stop scratching.

It was then that the Fenton Phones went off, it was Misty, who was using the Fenton Phones from Star.

"Danny, uh...it looks like you're gonna get a really bad skin rash that gets harder to ignore. It's a common side effect that happens when magic users don't transfer their mana to their lover the traditional way, but don't worry. It's gonna last... about a day..."Misty said, sounding apologetic about the last part.

Danny frowned after she hung up, annoyed by this new development.

"Now she tells me..."He said, shaking his head.

The ghost boy got up and looked up to his enemy, who was grinning.

"I told you so..."Wufong said, glaring at the ghost boy.

The ghost boy glared at him, trying hard to ignore the itch.

"If you think this'll make me stop, you clearly don't know who you tried to make your dad as well as you think..."Danny said, but felt more itching that he ignored.

The evil spirit didn't seem intimated at the least, especially after seeing Danny scratch his body again after declaring that he'd still continue to fight despite the itching.

"Really?..."Wufong asked, sounding smug.

Danny resisted the urge to scratch and glared at his foe.

"Not the time..."He thought, knowing that he has more pressing matters to attend to.

The ghost boy took a breath, trying his best to ignore the itching that now reached his sides. Wufong flew over the valley, on his way to destroy the nearest human settlement.

"I have bits of China to destroy in order to make the world fear me again!..."The evil spirit said, deciding Danny was wasting his time.

"So not happening!..."Danny said, eyes glowing.

The ghost boy summoned up enough resistance to the itchy feeling he got all over his body and used his icy ghost aura to cool himself off and completely ignored the previous urges of scratching his now chilled rushes.

"Okay...ignore the itch and slay the dragon!..."He thought, as he continued with his mission.

However, with the addition of the gold glow he received from Misty, Danny was about to speed up enough to start reaching the dragon's stomach region.

"Pull over!..."Danny said, as the wind went through his hair.

"No!..."Wufong said, as the ghost boy decided to fight.

"Okay, you asked for it!..." Danny said, thinking fast.

Danny tried to focus on channeling both his ghost energy and his new temporary golden magical energy he got from Misty and her family.

Dragon Wufong didn't think much of the half ghost hero's new found determination and simply left himself defenseless to show how wide the gap was in terms of absolute power.

"Do your worst, Phantom child!..."Wufong said arrogantly.

Completely underestimating the ghost boy's real supernatural strength and how much magic he's been infused with by Misty and her family.

"Gladly..."The ghost kid said in a determined way.

Danny sped up further, racing towards the stone dragon's face to better block his way.

Wufong took notice with an eyeroll before deciding to be rid of Danny by releasing rocks out of the side of his body, firing them out of his skin like spears, each one electrically charged thanks to magic.

"Away with you, insolent pest!..."The evil dragon said, not bothering to look at Danny.

Thinking fast, Danny bobbed left and right to avoid the rocky projectiles that were trying to hit him, before managing to reach the dragon's head.

"Nice aim, Hot Head. Gonna join the storm-troopers next?..."Danny sassed.

"Witty. However, clever wit and hand-me-down magic won't help you win this fight against my supremacy!..."The evil spirit said, glaring at him.

Wufong decided now to deal with Danny with his own claws. He spins his body in a complete circle, before raising one claw to slash.

With quick thinking, Danny bobbed to his right before flying in and swinging his fist into the dragon's face.

"Now to see if what Misty said about being able to break the rock is true..." He thought, preparing himself.

The one punch wasn't enough. He then sent a flurry of them before pulling back and kicking the dragon's chin numerous times. Pulling away, he fired an enormous ball of green energy but the evil spirit dodged.

Despite this, Danny tried to punch him but it did little effect, and the evil dragon sent him a mocking look.

"Go ahead and launch your pitiful attack. It won't change anything! I dare you to try!..."Wufong mocked.

"Only one way to find out for sure!..."Danny said as he threw another punch.

That's when it happened.

A crack was starting to form, confirming Misty's belief in how to break it was true.

"Bingo!..."Danny thought in relief, before he continued to throw his fists into that crack.

Wufong attempted to shake him off, only for Danny to elevate himself far enough to do the most damage and slam down on his nose with an ax-kick. He then followed that with a stomp and an ecto blast in the evil stone dragon's face.

Which not only hurt Wufong, but angered him too.

"Begone, you annoying half ghost fool!..."Wufong yelled, reaching out for him but missed.

As soon as Danny started firings shots into the bridge of the nose, Wufong's dragon form shook him off and attempted to slash him again. This time, Danny thought fast by creating a shield, one with the gold magic of the Yang clan flowing through it, bouncing the claw off and disorienting the dragon a moment.

The evil stone dragon lost his footing in the air and nearly fell down the sky, before eventually readjusting himself mid-flight.

Once Wufong became aware of his surrounding again, he saw Danny gone.

"Where did he go?!..." He shouted.

"Here!..." Danny said, grabbing the tip of his tail.

"What are you-..."Wufong was cut off, as the ghost kid reappeared.

Using his strength, enhanced by magic, Danny pulled the dragon around, spinning it twice before tossing it into the side of a mountain.

"Half-ghost... Half-wizard... 100% AWESOME!..."Danny sassed, before he flew at Wufong.

The dragon shook his head before snarling.

"Best give up, before I punch you so hard that I cause a tremor to go off within your stony fake body!,.."Danny said, while the evil spirit glared at him.

Angered but undaunted, Wufong rose back into the sky to strike Danny, only for him to move out of the way in time.

"You are beneath my great power, Phantom. You should be grateful that I even considered allowing you to continue living! NOW FEAR MY WRATH!..."The stone dragon yelled, before roaring loudly.

Wufong flew past mountains, hoping to lose Danny while firing more rocks at him. Doing his best to keep up, Danny avoided each shot with quick reflexes.

"Still not hitting me!..."The ghost kid said with a smile.

He flew to the dragon's left side, getting a clearer shot. However, rocks were fired from there as well, making him swing below and return to the right.

There, Wufong tried again to slash at the half ghost hero, but Danny once again made a shield to bounce the claw back.

"Nope..." Danny went.

Like before, Wufong left an opening that let Danny swing his fists.

"Hiya!..."Danny said, pretending to be a martial artist.

In seconds, he reached that opening. He struck the belly, the chest, both shoulder and even the neck region.

"Hey! You costume's got a few cracks in it!..." Danny taunted as he once again flew up and delivered a stomp to the nose region, cracking it further.

Angered, Wufong snarled and pulled away.

"That's it, you asked for this. I never actually wanted a filthy westerner to father my new body anyway. Now die!..."Wufong said, before starting another attack.

He pulled off a scheme he had to get stronger. With a piercing roar, Wufong remained still as his body began to glow blue.

"What now?..." Danny asks under his breath.

Suddenly, a storm cloud appeared above him, causing lightning to start falling from the sky, most of it in Danny's general area.

"What the heck?!..."Danny said, as he used the magic to enhance his shield to protect himself.

The lightning then struck Wufong, causing his body to start emitting electricity out of his back, almost like he was on fire. Wufong gave another piercing roar, as if his rage caused him to be more beast-like than the clever schemer he was earlier.

This did not bother Danny as Wufong resumed his attempt to find the nearest human settlement and destroy it, only for the half-ghost hero to follow and try and stop him.

"We're not done yet!..."Danny yelled, as he sped up.

Wufong once again fired rocks at Danny, some more powerful thanks to the lightning. This time, Danny would have none of that as he kicked one rock, sending it back to Wufong, hitting him in the head and once again disorienting him.

"Ha! I knew I should have tried out for soccer!..." Danny said victoriously as he sped up, reaching the dragon's head quickly.

Growing more enraged, Wufong tried to slash at him once more, but Danny ascended in time to avoid it.

"HOLD STILL, SO I CAN SLASH YOU!..."He shouted.

"Not happening!..."Danny said, as he kept dodging his slashes and enraging the evil spirit dragon even more.

"Aaaaargh! Insolent, whelp. You're no real ghost!..."Wufong yelled, as had used his other claw, only for a repeat of it being bounced off to happen.

"I'm half ghost, so that has no effect on me..."Danny taunted, as the evil dragon kept trying to attack him.

Danny kept dodging, and kept taunting his latest foe.

"You're fierce but you're not Shendu..."Danny mocked.

"Who?..."Wufong asked, before shaking his head. "Never mind, that doesn't matter..."He said.

"One thing we can agree on..."The ghost boy said, eyes glowing.

Upon reaching the dragon's neck area, Danny spun like a top, using his leg to kick it repeatedly. Wufong tried to attack, only for Danny to rise up and stomp on his head. That was followed by him pulling back and striking the area where the Adam's Apple would be.

Growing more furious, Wufong circled around Danny.

"LET'S SEE IF YOU CAN DODGE THIS!..."He shouted, as rocks fired from his body, all directed at Danny.

In a split second, Danny smirked.

"I don't have to..."He said, planning to as the ghost boy glowed bright green with golden shine surrounding his body.

Suddenly, he split into four and caught the rocks.

"Nice!..."Each Phantom said, much to Wufong's irritation.

"Oh great, more of you. No matter, all of you will fall all the same!..."He declared.

"That's what you think, stone for brains!..."The Danny's all said in sync.

Each Phantom chose to catch the rocks and focused the magic they shared into their respective hands, before reforming into one Danny again, who kicked a ball made from the rocks into Wufong's face. The impact causing the cracks Danny has made to grow throughout more of his stone body.

Wufong spun around from his injury, before Danny followed up with more physical attacks to his nose and a kick to under belly.

No longer thinking clearly, Wufong once again tried to slash, but his attack was met with Danny simply catching the claw by one talon before pushing it aside, giving him access to the stone dragon's belly and delivery a punch, kick, knee and slam to make the cracks spread further.

"You're getting slower!..."The ghost kid said in a taunting manner.

As Wufong pulled back, Danny noticed the gold glow was starting to die down.

"Oh man, I'm running a little low on the magic mojo and I doubt Misty has enough in her to justify kissing me again..." He said, as he saw Wufong fly upward and roar at him.

That's when Wufong flew higher into the storm he created, letting himself be struck by lightning multiple times.

"Prepare for death!..."The evil dragon said, starting to turn to point in Danny's direction.

"This might hurt a little..."He muttered.

Danny knew he was up to something, so he flew upward to continue the fight. Wufong then descended towards him, spinning like a drill while electrified.

Bracing himself, Danny held his arms out as he caught Wufong by the nose, using his strength to make him stop.

Danny gritted his teeth, seeing his glow starting to go.

"No good..." He thought as Wufong roared angrily, causing him to push him back.

Wufong, channeling all of his magic into his rocks, fired at the ghost boy once again.

"These will seek you out! No dodging or deflecting this time!..." He shouted.

Before they came close enough, Danny was struck with an idea.

"I'm low on magic... but he's not..."He said, remembering an old cartoon gag.

With that, he flew away, letting the rocks follow him a moment before doing a U-Turn at Wufong.

"Hmph... clearly I was to take after Misty in intelligence..." He said as he attempt to chomp Danny.

Channeling what little magic he had left, Danny grabbed the jaws and forced them apart and kept them from closing.

"Just a bit more..." He said, the glow fading.

"You're almost all out of magic, I can sense it!..." Wufong said.

"Right... but they're not..." He said, gesturing to the rocks coming in.

"What?..." Wufong asked, before he saw the rocks.

Danny grinned as he used the last of the magic to force the mouth wide open and split in two before the rocks could hit him.

"EAT UP!..." Both Dannys said as the rocks went into Wufong's mouth.

Wufong's mouth closed as soon as the two Danny's were far enough, a look of shock and displeasure was on his dragon face.

"Oh no!..." He said, as the magic of his attack struck him from the inside.

"Magic beats magic, right?! That means magic rock beats magic rock!..." Danny went, as he reformed into one.

Wufong's dragon body had cracks all over, before it finally broke to pieces in an explosion of magic.

The stone dragon was no more. Danny saw all of this and smirked.

"Danny one, Wufong zero!..."He said, as he flew to where the others were.

While keeping a watchful eye for any last minute surprises from the evil spirit, as he had a feeling that it still wasn't over yet.

With the others

Danny flew back to where Star and the others were.

"Danny!..."Star said, as she ran and hugged him. "Are you okay?..."She asked.

"What happened?..."Misty asked.

"I'm fine...though the magic is gone now..."He explained.

"Eh, you were too bright for my tastes..."Sam said, being her usual self.

"I saw you destroy the dragon..."Misty said.

"We saw you split in four too..." Max said.

"Yeah... had to do some quick thinking..." Danny said.

"I forgot that you can make copies of yourself..."Misty said, before an intrigued idea form.

She hissed when Star painfully ribbed her.

"Don't even think about it!..."She warned, glaring at her.

"I wasn't..."Misty said, rubbing her side.

Mei then pulled Star by the ear, causing her slight discomfort.

"Step away!..." She said in a protective manner, making Star step back.

Wanting to quickly change the mood of this awkward situation, Misty then spoke up.

"So... you destroyed the dragon?..."She asked.

"I did..." Danny said.

"But where's Wufong?..."She asked.

"Under a pile of rubble, good news, his stony costume is ruined..."Danny said.

"But did you see him? I don't see you holding your thermos..."Misty said, wanting to know if he's gone.

"Oh... no..." Danny said.

Remembering that he gave his thermos to his sister to keep safe, Jazz presented it to him while the sorceress kept talking.

"Remember, he didn't actually turn into a dragon, he was using a statue that he brought to life by magic..." Misty reminded him.

"I'm so crossing off magician as a potential backup career..."Danny said, still not used to this whole magic business.

"Why can't you just use that thermos thingy to get rid of him?..."Max asked, having seen it on TV.

"He does have a point? Why don't you just do that, dude?..."Tucker asked.

The ghost boy shook his head, then explained his reasons for not using his trusty Fenton thermos.

"Wufong is too dangerous, just like Shi. I'm not even sure it'd work on him since he transferred his soul into the book, so he's probably not a ghost in the same way as the ones we're used to..."Danny said.

"So, what do we do now? I kind of don't want him in the book since, as long as he's in there, we can't destroy it..." Misty questioned.

"There might be another way..."Laolao said as she noticed something in the book.

"What is it, Laolao?..."Misty asked.

"We might be able to bind his spirit and imprison it..."Laolao said, remembering a family story.

"Really? How?..."Danny asked.

"My grandfather once mentioned a spell that was meant to imprison evil spirits and place them in an object of great importance Though at the time, I thought he was being funny but looks like he was on to something..."Laolai said, hoping it'd work.

She explained all the aspects of the spell, and Misty checked the spell book and looked relieved.

"It's here..."She said happily.

"Then I guess that might work. Let's do it..."Mei said, wanting to help too.

"YOU!..." They heard Wufong shout from a distance.

The heroes saw the possessed stoned dragon and frowned. The ghost boy turned to the Yang family, knowing that he needed their help to finally end things once and for all.

"Now's your chance..." Danny said, putting his faith in the magic users.

Misty nodded.

"I can't mess this up..."She thought, knowing that she was responsible for all of this and needed to fic this.

Misty turned to her family, knowing what they had to do now to stop their evil ancestor.

"Come on everyone. Join your mystic power..."Misty said, wanting to end this once and for all.

She held hands with her mother, grandmother and brothers. A green aura surrounded all of them, but it soon changed into a golden one, one aiming at Wufong.

"Time to bury this part of our family history! Away with you, Wufong!..."Misty said as her eyes glowed in a golden light, one that moved like fire.

"Away with you!..."Her mother and grandmother both said, the same glow in her eyes.

"Away with you, Wufong!..."Her brothers said, having that same glow as well.

With their combined forces, Wufong was hit by a beam and was being burning into ashes and cinders from every corner of his body, as he was being sucked into the direction of a certain item.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOO! NOT AGAIN! I won't go back to that book!..."Wufong struggled, trying to get away.

"Who said anything about the book? You liked that statue you used as a dragon? Stay in one piece of it!..." Misty shouted, enjoying the payback.

With a gasp, Wufong saw he was being pushed into a piece of what was once an eye of the dragon.

"NNNOOOOO!..." He shouted, before pushed into now, now trapped.

Everyone was silent now, as no one dared to move now. After a few moments, everything seemed quiet right now.

"Is he...?..."Max asked as his mother held him.

"Yes, he's trapped in that rock..."Misty said, taking a deep breath.

"Cool…" Max said, inching closer to touch it.

"Max! Don't!..." Misty went, pulling him back.

"If one of us touches it, his restraints will be loosened and this will just start all over again..."She said, not wanting to deal with that monster again.

"Oh…sorry..."Max said apologetically.

However, that brought up a whole new issue and some concerns on how to deal with this slightly new problem.

"What do we do to make sure no one else in this family ever touches it?..." Mei asked. "Even if we know better, there is always a slight chance that something like this could happen again in the future..."Mei said, being paranoid.

However, everyone saw her point and nodded.

"She's right. Even if we bury all of our secrets again, someone as evil as Wufong will find a way to discover it and become corrupted by it's malevolence..."Suyin said, very cautious

"Wait...bury?..."Danny said, pausing for a moment.

"Boo?..."Star asked, wondering what he's thinking about.

An idea came to Danny, but needed a bit of clarification first.

"Quick question, how deep is the Earth's surface?..." Danny asked.

"3-5 miles. You really need to stay awake in class more..." Jazz said.

"Then allow me…" Danny said, picking the rock up. "A good 5 miles should be plenty…for a dirt nap..."He said, grabbing onto the now trapped Spirit's new prison.

With that he phased into the Earth, taking Wufong's rock prison with him.

The Yang-Smith family let out a collective breath of relief.

With that...Wufong was no more.

The nightmarish manipulation of evil spirits from the Yang clan was finally over once and for all, abandoned and buried underneath the earth's surface.

Once Danny left the rock in its new place, Wufong could only react in horror in that this was his fate.

"NNNNNOOOOOO!..." He shouted in rage and fury that was unheard.

He was now trapped under hundreds of tons of dirt, never to be seen or able to interfere with his descendants' lives again.

Thank goodness.
