Chapter 5 I don't want to be Useless!
Waking up in my bedroom after that intense training session with my dad that we planned he'd train me with the clan techniques as he did ask on the odd days of the week which means 4 days of training with him after my team which is most days unless there is something happening were we're not going on missions or training together so today I was just planning on searching the stores and try to find affordable weights that can be adjusted if there is any I don't think there is any okay… maybe I'll find something I don't know uhh I need more money what can I do but just do more missions or ask my dad for some but I'll ask Asuma-Sensei first. After today maybe I'll work more on Chakra control since it's my day off. Later anyways.
Walking in the streets of Konoha I kinda just wanted to explore and maybe I can browse around the village and walk inside shops even though I only have the pay of three D-Ranks being like a week of a normal salary of a stand owner….not Jojo's but store owner it's good but ehh. Looking inside a weapons shop I didn't really need to go in here because I get my equipment from my Clans armory which has chakra blade kunai's I got on mistake which allow me to store the shadows of my Shadow imitation jutsu inside it and connect it which I found out like the Eediot I am from taking a look at the armory later that day as I tried it with a normal kunai and it didn't work so now I only have kunai with Chakra conducting metal. Taking a look at the wall of weapons were things my clan didn't have like giant claymores and Nunchucks or nunchaku, a Kusarigama, Kamas and Straight Swords and many more either pinned on the wall by a display or laying against the wall. "I see they caught your eye." I flinched at the sudden voice as I grabbed my heart and the girl laughed at my as I turned around to look at who she was. It was a girl with her hair in two buns wearing a pink sleeveless Chinese top with a normal black shinobi pants and sandals.
"Yea they did but uhh when I get to concentrated I might die someday." The now identified girl who I know as Tenten laughed at me her headband showing me she was a shinobi of the village.
"Well you seem new at this and new here in general is there something that you want or…" she want on as she as any good salesperson got you to want to buy something.
"Hey I know you know that I couldn't buy squat with D-Rank mission pay but I am looking maybe for a weapon long term." You earned 500 Ryo the currency in this world which converts to 10 yen a piece and that converts to in US dollar 34.56$ yep means I got what 103 dollars for that and these weapons are at least what 100,000 Ryo I mean A ranks and that can get you one of these weapons in one but huh Jonin level ninjas take those and I just started being a ninja like a week ago…however there is some missions the patron pays more over and beyond than what you're normally given.
"Well why do you think I work here part time." She gave me a blank stare and I just look away bashfully.
"Well I don't think I've seen you before did you just graduate." I nodded at her and she smiled.
"Well I guess I do have to help my kouhai" I just look away at her better to leave but she trapped my arm and pulled me back. "Where are you going." I blank and thrash back but end up falling on the floor as I slowly lick myself up.
"Well opps!" She scratched the back of her head.
"You say we'll! A ton you know…" she blanked and tried to respond.
"Well…shut up!" She blushed in embarrassment but did go behind the register and slight glared at me.
"Umm my names Shikamaru Nara what's yours…" she looked skeptically and she seemed to recognize my name.
"Nara so you're from a clan huh, We'll it's nice to meet you names Tenten." She said with some high energy as a small smile came to my face.
"You said it again…heh" she questions what I said but remembered what she said and sent a hateful glare.
"Anyways I just was looking at the swords and specifically that one over there" I pointed at a sword which looked identical to Sasuke's Kusanagi blade and the sheath had a strap as well hmm.
"Hmm we'll maybe I could do you a favor…" she looked at me and then at the blade.
"Wait before you ask anything is this blade perhaps like a chakra blade." When I say Tenten nod my eyes glowed.
"I'll reserve this blade for you and you pay it until you own it and you don't have it until you fully pay for it." I stare at her and then the price of the blade it was 500,000 Ryo oh ok. I shake her hand as she jumped up to the sword sign and wrote "reserved" hmm yup I need to get stronger or I'm in debt and my clan would absolutely shit on me.
"By the way" I turned to her as she approached me. "Don't make me regret that kid…" um okay…
"Right then you better hope that I don't overtake you in height then cause I'd so clown you." I smiled as a tick mark appeared on her head as she yelled at me for being a weasel like I completely acted like as she threw a pebble at me on the floor as I ran out to avoid more random shit thrown at me as she followed me to the door as I had to turn to another street to avoid her rath as I crashed into someone.
"Ow I'm sorry it was my fault." I looked at who I crashed into and it was Sakura her hair looking different it wasn't smooth as it was and her eyes were with big bags under them.
"Hey Sakura are you alright." I grabbed her shoulder as she just looked at me then down.
"Oi Oi Sakura are you okay." I sighed as she didn't respond as I just grabbed her hand and pulled her along with me hopefully into anywhere somewhat private.
I dragged her without a problem she didn't try and we ended close by my clan's compound but in a place where not many people came by was a bench quite out of the way. We sat down and Sakura looked straight ahead.
"Am-Am-am I useless…" I heard Sakura say something I didn't think I'd hear someone calling her useless here to uh.
"How are you useless Sakura who even told you that." I asked her as she looked at the floor.
"Sasuke…w-why d-did I-I l-like h-him…I lost my best friend for my affection and…he treats me like…" I cut her off. "How you treat Naruto." At that Sakura's tired eyes widen at the realization.
"Hurts yea and totally stings." I just see her trying to process the situation and looks back at the ground.
"A-another thing…how was I-Ino able to beat me…so easily…TWICE!" Sakura grabbed her head in distress as tears are spilled out of her eyes. I see this as I go for a hug as she seems like she's frozen at what I'm doing.
"Just because someone beat you doesn't mean it's the end you know means there more power and strength to strive for you might have been the kunoichi of the Year yes but someone that was trained by a shinobi like Ino is normally going to be better than you Sakura by default of you not coming from a clan but you being the Kunoichi of the year showed how much you wanted to be better." She looked at me as I continued to hug her.
"You absorb info Sakura that's why you'll be able to be Kunoichi of the year and it means sky's the limit." She didn't say anything but I continued but I separated myself from her to look at her in the eyes.
"You know I had the same thoughts as you." She looked shocked at me you know the guy that beat Sasuke Uchiha Rookie of the year, The Last Uchiha yea.
"I train so I don't have to see my friends die I thought that I'd be useless and people would die to try to protect me…that how you feel isn't it with the whole team versus team isn't it and even your own teammates unknowingly saying things to hurt you…just find your way." She looked deep into my eyes to try and detect any lies but all she found was truth as some tears came out again though I think they were of happiness. "Will you help me Change Shikamaru."I smiled and winked at her causing a smile to appear on her face. I sat down next to her again as she leaned into me putting her head on my shoulder. "Thank you…Shikamaru-Kun." I look at her with the newly added honorific added on my name to see her passed out on my shoulder…she looked really cute like this…I wonder when she will wake up. I look to the sky it was morning and I just got out of bed like not even 2 hours ago so I have some time to kill…with my book! I grab my book from my pouch and start reading.
2 Hours Later…
My ass hurts I've been on this bench for hours well only two but my ass hurts I mean Sakura…I want her to be my friend and maybe help her become even greater that she is originally but my ass still fucking hurts and while reading my book is cool and everything I sometimes have to focus on other things sometimes maybe it's my attention span or another thing at work but yea….have I told you my ass hu-
1 Hour Later
It is now 12 pm how I know that is Shikamaru's memories of Dad teaching us how to read the time by the sun…and a clock next to the wall over there but we don't talk about that since the former thing sounds more impressive…right it's completely not hollow at all. Now that I think of it it's Wednesday today so now I have to wait Friday to train with dad uh what a pain I kinda want to learn the Shadow Clutch Jutsu and Shadow Stitching Jutsu. I would want to learn that the Shadow Stiching is practical as hell to want to pierce somewhat in the anime and the Shadow Clutch Jutsu as it was shown in the war arc it materializes its shadow increasing its strength proportionally to Chakra put into the Jutsu so could I theoretically cover myself in the Jutsu and boost myself with the Shadow's power and the shadow's ability and maybe add it to that sick ass sword I got reserved because of Tenten. My mouth starts to water at the sheer rate I'm thinking of these experiments.
I wonder if adding Shadow jutsu to my sword I'll be able to shoot out dark slashes like Yami from Black Clover as they said that Dark magic is usually slow but when used on something like a sword it gets faster so I wonder if there's parallels.
I start to continue with my thoughts as I feel Sakura start to wake up as I turn to her her eyes not having bags in her eyes and her eyes they looked…alluring why? Maybe it's because she evolved is what I'd like to think but she has come to multiple Revelations in this short time and you know what they say the eyes are the windows to the Soul so maybe that's what changed. "Are you feeling better." She perked up and looked at me and hugged me."yea….thanks Shikamaru-Kun." She smiled and drubbed the back of her hair.
"Are you free for now Shikamaru-Kun."she asked me a question I didn't think she'd ask but I nodded as she smiled.
"Then could you help me change and be who I want to be." I smiled at her and got up and pulled a kunai out of my pouch and gave it to her. She got the idea she looked at her hair she only grew it for Sasuke and now she wanted to cut that past of her off the one that was the fangirl and now the Ninja in Sakura came out as she cut her hair she would normally.
The hair dropped dramatically to the floor as she turned her back to it and started walking away…"Sakura you Cant't litter on the public street you know." I gave her an exasperated look as she looked back at me and grabbed her cut off hair and threw it in the nearby trash can and I proceeded to follow her as we made it to a clothing store.
"Hey Shikamaru-kun thank you for coming here and helping me…you didn't need to do that." Ehh why did she say that now? Whatever.
"You're my friend so of course I'm going to help you…yea no I didn't have anything else so I'm here until my training session." She looked at me with intrigue when I said Training session though.
"C-Can I join you." I shrug my shoulder and Sakura smiled and rocked her fist up as I smiled and we or more like Sakura looked for clothes for herself the dress wouldn't do and the biker shorts were alright yes but she didn't want any connections with her old self…she's trying to be different than how she was.
I scroll through the women's clothing in her size…which gave me a great many of creepy looks but I ignored them until I found what I wasn't expecting It had the Design of her Shippuden top and the Last's low hanging dress apart of her outfit which didn't restrict much movement like that long one on her now but maybe something else but I'll give it to her see how she likes it.
"It looks really something'd I'd like thanks Shikamaru-Kun." At that she went into a changing room and started the long process now boys strap in you seat's I had to do this and rate my sister's outfits for hours so hopefully Sakura won't take that long.
She came out with a black version of the top I just gave her and the same shorts but I fit really nicely but… ahh I got it. She looked at me for an answer and I gave her one. "I think the red one suits you better and goes with your hair but before you put that on let me pick something up.
I quickly find a black long sleeved shirt in her size and give it to her as she tilted her head and went inside.
She came out wearing the dress top I gave her with the long black sleeved shirt underneath the jacket of hers which contrasted nicely with its color and she bad her biker shorts with a kunai strap on it. Wait she needs some gloves with those i'd be combining her ear arc clothes, her Shippuden and The Last's clothing to her and I think she'd like and there was no mirrors in the Changing room for some reason.
I threw her some of the same gloves she wore and I took her blindfolded to one of the mirrors and took a look at herself. She noticed the Black shirt ran up her neck above the jacket she wore and that the black shirt filled in any gaps she had as she smiled with the gloves and hugged me squeezing me with her embrace.
"Thank you I can't stop saying today!" She said happily as I looked to her I blushed a bit but a endured as the blush went away as I looked proud at her.
"Well it's only the beginning we do need to find what you're good at." She looked and smiled as we got more pairs of her clothes as she refused to let them not be sold and even I had to pay because she ran out and my money is gone….Fuck!
Walking outside of the store with a new accumulated couple paper bags we aimed to try and drop them off at her home and so Sakura led the way as we reached a 2 story home I gave her the clothes and went inside. I didn't really feel comfortable walking inside around a friends home after only really being friends for about 3 hours and her being asleep for most of them so i kept my distance outside but as soon as she left her home I told her the next location.
"Hey Shikamaru-Kun where are we going?" She asked me as she walked up to pace with me.
"We're going to Konoha Archive library." At that Sakura's eye rose at the word Library.
"This place is normally restricted for civilians and are only used by Shinobi or Ninja of any rank. The higher you rank though the more info you're able to access but I don't think we need that much so we'll go over everything and see what you're good at." I smiled at her and she smiled back threatening to start leaking tears.
"Hey stop crying" I turned my head to look in front of me as she looked shocked "Pretty girls like you shouldn't cry you guys look better with a smile." I smirked this was the exact words I used on Ino which ehh teasing people sometimes is a blessing. I saw her blush and turn her head but she was going to walk into someone so I had to pull her by her hand and she looked at me with more of a blush now on her cheeks. I didn't bother looking as I kept my eyes on the road and it was quite the long one alright.
We walked into the doors they were bigger than both of us if we used each other to stand on it would be around that height. Sakura looked a bit nervous and to tell you the truth so am I but that just happens I adapt situations very fast I've come to realize and not with just school as I did get some good grades and I usually was on my phone just casually scrolling as I heard something's coming to my ears and I guess. I am a very good gambler at that and my adapting and observation skills help me see the world differently so with these thoughts I open the door to see a expansive library that had many and my rows of bookcases and a pathway in the middle showing the secretary's desk that was a man with glasses reading a book as Me and Sakura take a left. We were in the Genin section or that what is the entrance and you need a pass when you get a higher rank for more info so with being genin we were already given substantial knowledge from all these books.
Going to the "B" section where all there books beginning with b are we start to look and I quickly find what I was looking for. "Basics of the Shinobi Arts." I search inside the book and see the chapters in the multitude of things a shinobi could do like Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Genjitsu, Fuinjutsu and even Medical Ninjutsu. I take the book out of the shelf as I give it to Sakura who looks at the book.
"We need to find something your interested in Sakura so I got a book that tells you all the basics we Shinobi can do." We walk towards a empty table as Sakura opened the first page Sakura might know more like has it memorized the 3 basic Nin-Tai-Gen jutsu's but looked over all them.
"Medical Ninjutsu…you could heal people with your Chakra." At that she flipped the pages where it described the basics of the set and to tell you she wasn't engrossed would be that she was lying to the highest degree. I don't think she knew that I got up from my own chair and started to look around some more. "T" was farther to the right of the library than I thought it would be but I started to look until I heard a "E-Excuse me do you need any help sir." I turned at the unknown voice to see a blond haired girl with glasses that looked like had a swirly design like in an anime what the hell there real? Well anyways she looked as though she just woke up out of bed…kinda like me sometimes with the hair pointing in every direction.
"Yea I just wanted to find a book about Tsunade if you don't mind." I asked her as I saw her walk passed me and point at where her name starts to show up in the book cases.
"I don't really see many people my age here as many people just laugh at me for working in a library." The girl said as I picked at the books until I found one that caught my ire 'Tsunade Senju: Legendary Sannin, Master of the Healing Arts and Chakra Control' huh abnormally long title but this would do.
"Well I don't think that's very cool. People shouldn't make fun of you for your passion so just ignore those bastards and focus on what you want and what your close friends want." I smile at her and a reddish tint starts to form on her cheeks. "Shikamaru Nara by the way nice to meet you." I wave at her and she smiles.
"My name is Shiho and it's nice to meet you Shikamaru." I started to go back to Sakura as she followed step by step with me until we made it back to the table where Sakura was on the last page about Medical Ninjutsu and when she finished she looked up to see me handing her another book. She got excited again and cracked open this book as well as I propped down on the Chair next to her as Shiho took the book at put it back where it belonged.
"Hey Sakura." I grabbed Sakura's attention as she looked at me. "I was going to train later if you wanted to come along I wouldn't mind helping you." Her eyes widened before smiling and nodding before going back to her book.
I see Shiho awkwardly walk back to our table as Sakura seemed totally engrossed in her book as I was left to make conversation with the nervous Shiho. "Hey Shiho do you think I could check out a book on Medical Ninjutsu…or a couple."Shiho smiled and then nodded as her glasses sparkled as her eyes were visible from then her eyes were hazel brown as she asked me to come with her to the "M" section of the library.
Getting out of the big giant Library know as the archive Library with Sakura who had a couple of books with her that were picked and put in a bag my sorry ass is holding but hey if this gets to help with Sakura I guess I'm for it. "Hey Sakura maybe asking Kakashi-Sensei about maybe being able to intern at a hospital after your teams Training and on the even days we could train….if you want I'm not going to force you." I tried not to make it seem force-full but I heard Sakura giggle at my reaction. "Of course I would love that." She kept a smile on her face until another troublesome thought came into her mind.
"Hey Shikamaru how do you think I could be a better friend to my friends because all I did was hit people and be abnormally rude about things…how were people my friends." She looked down as her hands starts to get tighter forming into fists.
"We'll be nice and give people people some respect and I'm don't hit people so hard but there is times you need to hit people so I think you should apologize to-" I was cut off by Sakura "Naruto yea I hurt him a lot and to Ino I let Sasuke-No it was my fault not Sasuke, he didn't do anything." I put my hand on her shoulder well my left one I hand the books on my right.
"Well we still have time in the day so why can't we connect some bridges as well." At that I took Sakura's hand again as she blushed to our location. Yamanaka Flowers.
Walking inside the store I remember Ino complaining that on her day off that she had to work in the shop but hey I worked in my favor now that her compliant was almost completely ignored by me.
We walked to the counter as Ino looked at me with a raised eyebrow and to Sakura.
I took a couple of steps away as I checked the shop out it's not my talk so I'm not going to get involved. Sakura needs to do it herself so I decided to try and look around. I look around and see some saplings in pots picking up on one it said it was a peach tree. My mother had one of these I grab it but look at the price hmm it's higher than what I have left after helping buy Sakura's many pair of clothes. I sighed as I looked over to them and I saw them hugging each other saying "I missed you." I smiled as I walk back to the front and see a book like a glossary of flowers and what they mean and can do.
I skip through all the pages and I see a multitude of flowers with there random colors some of them are used to make poison and some others antidotes which is kinda cool.
"Is there something that's caught you Shikamaru." I looked at Ino who now looked more like herself and so did Sakura. "Oh I was just looking at these flowers I thought I saw one where you could make poisons from." At that Ino took a peek at the glossary and noticed the one flower I looked at was made for paralysis poison. She made a oouu sound as she skipped through her book again.
"We should get going I'll see ya tomorrow Ino" I waved at Ino who just didn't bother looking but waved at the both of us. "Later Ino!" Sakura retorted energetically.
Me and Sakura walk through the streets of Konoha as the town was bustling in the afternoon as I turned to her. "We should get to training I know I place we won't really be disturbed." At that she nodded with a tilted head where could he mean.
The Nara Forest it was located by the Nara compound and Hokage mountain leading outside the Village walls even. We walked into the forest until we reached a decent clearing out of multiple trees. "What are we going to do?" Oh yea as far as I know this is the first time Sakura is going to train so let's try something easy…for her.
"We're doing something like…this" I ran at the tree as I started to run up the tree. "WHAAT!" I stopped and turned to face Sakura on the ground. "You channel Chakra into the bottom of your feet and you use the Chakra to stick with a constant chakra. We are while I know I don't want to have to concentrate on this and have to fight on the wall as well." At that Sakura nodded and joined me running up the tree to where I was in a single attempt. "Wow this is a bit surreal." Sakura looked back at the ground then at me.
"Here let's spar on here plus you to be able to do that on the first try is impressive and you have some good chakra control and also some little reserves so that's what we're going to both working on okay." I told her my plan as she again nodded. "Yea continuing to work with your Chakra and depleting it will cause it to grow and…I do feel like I don't have that much."
"That's the goal of the training more chakra and control soooo" Sakura huffed and then smiled as she threw a punch in her with her chakra hitting another tree making a small crack in the tree.
"Huh"
Walking out of the forest with a tired Sakura on my back although her reserves were gone and mine were depleted we managed to get some results like mastering Tree walking maybe I'll teach her the water walking later but that not for here or now but it means it's tomorrow. "Hey Sakura are you awake there." I chuckle at her she was tired and hurting but not asleep.
"Yea yea I just need a good meal and sleep and then I can kick your ass!" Um she said as she leaned into me. I was getting looks I guess giving a girl a piggyback ride is not as common here but it wasn't even that common there even but still there was a lot weirder I swear it. "By the way I should tell you shouldn't diet anymore or did you already know that?" Sakura moved before saying "Yea I know I told my parents I was training and I was going to be hungry." Hey oh yea well then.
Getting to the Haruno household and dropping Sakura down as she glared at me for not taking her inside and I just shrug at her before smiling and offering her a fist bump which she punched my fist with hers and I twisted mine and she responded by doing the same.
"See you tomorrow Sakura."
3rd POV
Waiting by a bridge was Uzumaki Naruto and Sasuke Uchiha the two boys never really liked each other in the academy but over these three days have learned a lot about each other like there jutsu's they use to there understanding of each other growing. It can be seen that both these people don't like to be underestimated or to be in the butt of people jokes or how they were unjustly split away from there parents and family, both of them now orphaned by unfortunate people and events that caused there lives to end like this sad and alone.
Uzumaki Naruto like Sakura Haruno yes a lot of people knew that and it wasn't that much of a secret yes but why did he like her was the big secret. Many people have put this up to Naruto wanting people's attention so he was trying to use Sakura to gain popularity but that wasn't it. It was because she was his first friend.
Yes you heard that right Uzumaki Naruto's first friend was the pick haired girl which was known as forehead. Before Sakura was all alone she had friends she did have a couple of friends and that's when she found a Naruto who was playing by himself and asked if she wanted to play with her and they did play for 2 weeks the duo played at the same spot at the same time which made Naruto's heart grow 10 times each time he saw Sakura and when he told Granpa-Jiji he said it was love. They went undisturbed until Sakura's friends got wind of who Sakura was playing with and at the end of the two weeks Sakura ended up alone and stumbled upon Ino Yamanaka.
The girl that helped her and became friends with while Naruto was left alone wanting to see that Pink haired girl Sakura until the Academy where she didn't remember him at all and at that moment Naruto was broken bit by bit until his will crumbled and forced back into place by his own will and promise to be able to see that girl he fell in love with.
Even now he continues to try but after yesterday he didn't know if he could anymore maybe that girl was gone. Naruto looked sadly at the river as more memories of the girl with neck long pink hair appeared having like a dream like way. He was shaken awake by a pink haired beauty with green eyes. "S-Sara." Naruto whispered out but the girl recoiled back as she hadn't heard that name in forever. "N-Naru is that you." At that Naruto opened his eyes for them to widen at the girl next to him Pink Hair, neck long, headband like the cloth she used to wear and those beautiful green eyes.
"N-Naruto are you Naru." Realization hit Sakura's eyes as she saw the images of Naru her whiskered friend from all that time ago was Uzumaki Naruto.
Tears let out from the corners of Naruto's eyes as he hugged Sakura as hard as he could not wanting to let go. "Sara you're back." Sakura namely just hugged back at her old childhood friend.
"I'm sorry Naru…I'm sorry about everything I caused to you…I hit you and called you so many names an-" Sakura looked disappointed in herself until Naruto stopped her by hugging even harder.
"You're back Sara that's more than I could ask for Sara."
Watching the interaction with an eyebrow raised was Sasuke Uchiha someone who thought this was a waste of time and that Naruto was too close to Sakura….wait what. 'Why did I. Errgh there irrelevant to me in anyway. I'm not here to be happy but to accomplish my mission….
Kakashi Hatqke Jonin of the leaf and most common person to look at the memorial stone for hours on hours on hours but never seemed to be in a never ending loop before getting his team…they reminded him off his own team but there was definitely different as Sasuke was more hate and spiteful than himself at that age…Naruto was go lucky sometimes but was cocky and had almost no good role models and Sakura was a fan girl than reminded Kakashi of Rin slightly until he saw her with hair similar to her and what seemed like different colors but overall very similar. Stepping into the clearing Kakashi Hatake declared that he wouldn't let this team down like he did his last one. Not if the Copy Ninja has a say in it.
