A/N: I am sorry for the late update it was a lot to write.. that you to thoses who add me to their lits and put a commonent on the story it means alot to me.. anyway I dont own anything and on with the story xx
I finally feel the fresh night air as I step outside. As I place my hands on the railing, I look at the forest outside and how it's lit up by the moon. I love nights like this where it's peaceful and you can hear the night. It takes me back to when I was 13 when I had my first shift. It was on a night like this. Like most of us werewolves we shift on a full moon, so we are stronger and it's slightly less painful to change. I remember the pain it caused me when I first shifted but as I got stronger and got older it got easier to do and I enjoy having my wolf side.
After the ceremony as a pack, we all will go for a run as one. As the new alpha, Akitoki will lead us through the forest to a high hill and we will all howl as one signifying that we are one pack and accept Akitoki. I will not be joining. Anything to do with Akitoki just makes me sick to my stomach. It's hard enough to be here. I just hope my wolf heals enough to find a new mate or at least move on from Akitoki. Don't get me wrong. I love my pack. They are my family and friends, but I can't be here anymore.
"Kagome, there you are. I've been looking for you everywhere" I hear Sango from behind me. As I turn towards her with a smile on my face, it quickly turns into a frown as I see her look of panic. Something does not feel right. I don't hear anything from inside. There should be people cheering or howling in happiness for the new alpha, but it is eerily quiet.
I give Sango a confused look "What's wrong?" I ask as I slowly make my way towards her. She looks unsure as she answers, "I'm not sure either, but they are looking for you, so you better come inside".
I stiffened in response, as dread washes through me, as thoughts go through me like "Why me?" "Did Akitoki tell?"
That could be it but why it's so quiet? My eyes widen in horror as I stare at Sango. She seems puzzled as to why I'm called. This is bad, this is really bad. If Alpha Kenzo (Akitoki's father) was to find out that his son is my mate, he will force the mating onto us, and I don't want a jerk like that. I know I have not said anything so how did they find out?
Had Akitoki told his parents? but why would he when he had Ami?
Sango brings me back from my thoughts as she waves a hand in front of my face "Hey are you alright? you kind of spaced out there" she asks.
I shake my head to get out of my head and give her a small smile "I'm fine, just surprised "I lie. She gives me a small nod and takes my arm into hers as she leads me back inside.
I can feel everyone's eyes on me as we enter the room. The whole room was silent as we walked in, and I tried not to show my fear as I walked into the middle of the room. I feel Sango let me go with an encouraging push forward, I start to feel this powerful aura coming from in front of me and I can tell it's the prince no one not even an Alpha has that kind of aura. As I move closer, I see that everyone around me has their neck bowed in submission to this aura but not me. I feel like I don't have to for whatever reason.
Then suddenly I smell this amazing scent of wet grass, burnt wood and chocolate all rolled into one and all I want to do is get more of this smell. I quickly scan the room and my eyes land on the most handsome man I have ever seen. He has the most perfect face, a toned body that is filled out in his custom-made suit and some of his silver/white hair was pulled back into a bun and the rest of his hair was resting on his shoulders. He has a bored look on his face, but his golden eyes are staring right back at me. I can feel the intensity in them as he stares at me and raises his hand bringing an object close to his nose and as he sniffs it, he has a small smirk on his face.
His eyes move to the side, and I finally notice that Kelly was standing next to him. Her neck is bare and that's when I notice that she is not wearing the choker I gave her, and she is giving me a nasty glare. I give her a questioning look, but she quickly looks away and towards the floor.
I look around and see that everyone is doing the same including the Alpha Kenzo and Akitoki so I the same as them, the whole room is filled with silence until there is a scraping sound and hear soft footsteps coming towards me, bundling I see some dressed black shoes where my eyes were looking.
I see them stand there for a moment or two then I feel them behind me and feel them move my hair from my neck and instead of recoiling from his touch like I usually do when a male does this to me, I want more of his touch, and I hear them take a big sniff. He then walks in front of me as he uses two of his fingers to move my chin up and as soon as we lock eyes I hear "Mine" coming from his mouth.
I stood there in shock from what I heard and I'm sure the whole room heard as well, and from the look in his eyes that he is serious but how can that be? I have a mate, a mate I no longer want but still. I gasp and stand back in surprise, and I see his eyes darken at the action. He quickly moves his arms around me and pulls me into his chest and I have this feeling of belonging.
The world seemed to stop for a moment. I'm so confused at what is going on. I'm not meant to be feeling this way especially with the prince. The people in the room seem to not know what to do either as it is so quiet, but that doesn't last long as we hear a growl in the room. The prince places himself in front of me to protect me from this growl.
Who in their right mind would growl? I look towards the sound and it's coming from Akitoki. I raise my eyebrows in surprise. Ami is trying to stop him from doing something stupid, but he just turns to her and shows her his fangs and growls down at her. She stumbles backwards to slump back into her chair.
"Son what's wrong with you?" asks Alpha Kenzo.
"No!" Akitoki yells as he looks at me "Son you need to back down NOW!" Alpha Kenzo is using his Alpha aura on him, but what he doesn't know is that Akitoki is not in control. His wolf is. His wolf is angry that another male is touching what he believes and knows is his.
"No" He yells back "She's mine! not his!" This leaves everyone stunned. All I can think is "oh no' "because I don't want a fight to break out.
Alpha Kenzo looks to his son and towards me in confusion "What do you mean? isn't Ami your mate?"
Akitoki looks down in shame. Meanwhile Mr Prince is still protecting me from Akitoki. I can't see his face, but I bet if I could his face would be glaring daggers at Akitoki right now.
The room went from quiet to the sounds of murmurs. Alpha Kenzo looks at his pack and pushes out his aura and the room goes quiet once again. I see my family and they are looking at me with worry.
"What are you doing" I yell in my head "You're going to get us exposed and there will be consequences. Alpha Kenzo will make us mate each other and I don't want that happening".
I keep hiding behind Mr Prince as I hear the whispers around the room.
"Your Majesty" Luna Rose (Akitoki's mother) comes forward looking composed and calm as a luna should as she addresses the prince.
"Could we take this discussion to the Alpha's office? If that is alright with you?" she asks
Mr Prince takes a moment to think about this and agrees to this. Luna Rose sighs in relief and I feel a hand on mine as Mr Prince takes to the office.
I am unsure what is going on as you only get one mate and not two so why do I?
I hear "Let us in! That's our daughter!" That's my family for you, always there for me when needed.
As we enter the office my mum comes over to me "Oh my poor child" she said as she hugs me. I don't care who is around me and I hug her back, making me feel safe and loved.
Alpha Kenzo finally speaks up "Your majesty, you believe Kagome is your mate".
"I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true" he replies.
My mum and father who have come closer to me squeeze my shoulders in assurance that they are there for me.
"Thats not possible" Akitoki speaks up not showing one bit of respect.
The prince growls at him in turn, but he remains claim watching the scene unfold.
"And why is that Akitoki?" Alpha Kenzo asks.
"Because she's my mate" he bursts out.
I feel my parents' hands on me tighten as the whole room eyes become wide eyed and look between both Akitoki and me. I begin to shift uncomfortably at this.
You see in the werewolf world a mate bond is not just something to take lightly. If you reject a mate both you and your mate become weaker that is why every time Akitoki and Ami have been together. I have felt it and have become weaker for it, and I believe he is too, just slower because of his Alpha blood.
You can decide to mate another then your bond is broken and if you meet your mate, you won't feel it. This is why I'm sure we'll be forced to mate each other for the betterment of the pack and each other.
"You said that she was your mate" Luna Rose said. As she points to Ami, her tone is icy. Both Luna Rose and Alpha Kenzo are sending out small angry growls.
When Akitoki does not answer she walks over to Ami grabs her arm and drags her out of the room. As she does this Ami whimpers in pain from the force of Luna Rose's hand. She even starts to cry. This kind of makes me smile. I know it shouldn't, but Ami and Akitoki have made me suffer too much this year.
"I need an answer" Luna Rose voice radiates authority and leaves no room for any more bs "Is my son your destined mate?" her tune calming down but still filled with so much ice I almost feel bad for Ami. She doesn't answer and just continues to cry.
"Oh, look there's your future Luna everyone" I think to myself.
"Answer me!" Luna Rose demands
Ami jumps a little "No she isn't" Akitoki answers for her "Kagome is "he finishes We then a thump as Alpa Kenzo hits the desk with his hand.
