Heavens Above Belong to One

Moonlight drenched the golden sands of Gerudo desert in a gentle white hue, especially grains kicked up by active feet. Gerudo's warriors engaged in combat against familiar mobs as well as lanky, tall skeletal-like figures. Although this had been their first appearance, their enemies were not simply warriors in name. They quickly identified the Gibdo's weaknesses, adapting accordingly. Although not in great supply, Gerudo's forces were armed with elemental Chuchu jellies and elemental weapons took down the Gibdo alongside all other monsters.

"Chief Urbosa! Those three pillars made of sand are raining down more of those monsters! No matter how many we defeat, their numbers don't seem to be affected! We're losing ground fast!" Urbosa heard her retainer's cry. She put down every monster in front of her and her nearby guard.

"All of you, split off and support everyone at the entrances!" Urbosa said that before directing her attention upward. The Gibdo Queen floated far above in the sky, she waited to strike, leaving her children to beat down Gerudo Town's forces. She wanted to destroy her adversaries in one fell swoop. That's what Urbosa thought, so she would move before that could happen. Through a battlefield clouded by monsters a bolt of lightning known as Urbosa cut through.

She moved faster than anyone or anything, slaying several monsters on her way to her destination just below a shrine above her throne room. From there she could survey everything, every single motion of every single being.

"Three below. One above." Urbosa closed her eyes, envisioning her targets. Black clouds began to form out of thin air far above even the Gibdo Queen. She let out a screech that triggered all of the Gibdo to rush deeper into Gerudo Town. They did not attack any nearby warriors, Urbosa was their only target. Regardless of their direction, Gibdo still had to deal with Gerudo's forces. Despite their best efforts, many Gibdo got through.

"Chief Urbosa!" One of Urbosa's personal guards, Talia, called out. Her warning fell on deaf ears. Urbosa opened focused eyes to bodies of malice soon to be ash in the desert wind. Clouds obscure the Moon's sight of Earth, thus what followed could only be seen by those right there. A singular bolt of lightning struck one Gidbo then bounced off to kill every other one. No one heard fingers snapping, only a screech from a mother angered by her children's sudden deaths.

The Queen flew a bit lower, spraying a stream of sand but a bolt of lightning countered it. A large fulgurite formed, yet again lightning struck, destroying it completely. Suddenly small scale sand tornadoes were formed outside of Gerudo Town. Albeit traveling somewhat slowly, strong winds blew away nearby monsters and Gerudo forces, all Gibdo were unharmed. Urbosa closed her eyes and raised her arms. Earrings she wore jingled thanks to being lightly tapped by gentle hands. Lightning swam throughout a sea of black clouds overhead. Anger rumbled from above, a righteous fury would rain down.

"Heaven's Fall!" Urbosa brought her hands down alongside four gigantic bolts of lightning. Each pillar disappeared in an instant. In one stroke, the Gibdo Queen is vanquished. Several Gerudo warriors stood in awe of such a demonstration of power.

"What are you all waiting for!? Finish off the rest of Ganon's forces!" Urbosa armed herself as she charged into battle once again. She would not be alone as everyone else joined her mere moments later. Common monsters stood no chance, their number had been significantly diminished by both the Queen and Gerudo. Defeat is inevitable. Once the last monster was slain, several Gerudo celebrated or checked on their fellow warriors. No casualties seemed to have been suffered on their part, something that relieved everyone greatly. Everyone relaxed except for Urbosa who felt a sinking dread, her heartbeat picked up as she felt a heat wave wrap around her. No one else reacted to this increase in temperature. This blanket came with a memory that made her head throb, a scene from long ago. In front of her was a being of unmistakable visage. A demon of a man in presence and appearance but a curse in existence. This memory, no matter how false to Urbosa, was real. She saw the blight of the Gerudo, she saw Ganondorf. She briefly took a knee to recover from the temporary shock.

"Are you alright?" Talia asked.

"I saw something… do you feel that heat?"

"I don't. Do you think it might be you overused your powers?"

"... No, it's something else." Urbosa balanced herself. The heat began to dissipate alongside her slight headache. No, the heat moved toward a skeleton of a man that appeared in the northern entrance's wreckage.

"There's still one monster left, let's finish it off now!" A warrior declared as she ran forward, soon followed by nearby allies. Instantly, Urbosa knew this was no normal monster. Its stomach grew twice in size, the growth moved past its throat into its cheeks. An orangish red glow emitted from under grayish and red flesh covering its thin body.

"Get away from it!" A blast of pure maga tore through the sand structures in front of it. Urbosa's voice was too slow to reach her people but managed to move herself and Talia out of the attack's range. A glass floor had formed due to the intense heat. Nothing remained of anyone that approached the monster, except some weapons that somehow flew away. Everyone looked on in absolute horror at what they had just witnessed. Some fell to the ground in shock, others utter names of those who were vaporized. Disbelief clung hard to everyone alive, especially younger warriors. The beast straightened its posture, sounds of its bones cracking back into place grated against everyone who heard it.

"My mother was… my mother called for that charge, didn't she?" Talia's eyes were fixed forward. She took up her weapon, scrambling to her feet. Urbosa grabbed Talia before she could get a foot past her. The young warrior looked back at Urbosa with hateful tears falling from her face, her bottom lip twitching in sorrow of this cruel reality. Her flow of tears were stifled by Urbosa's dead, focused eyes. A shock pushed Talia away from her chief who silently walked forward. No one on this battlefield could stand up to this monster except for Urbosa, but not only that. She is also the most distraught and angry at this moment.

Sparks of lightning began flashing around her body. Her steps seemed to be getting faster, like she was sprinting. In one movement she closed the distance between her and Fire Blight, to everyone's surprise. Standing close to Fire Blight's body was like standing in a freshly lit campfire but was hotter than lightning to the touch. Nevertheless, Urbosa bashed it with her shield faster than it could comprehend. Fire Blight was sent rolling through the sands. Another swift bash from a shield planted its head in the ground.

A volley of both shield and scimitar strikes rained down on Fire Blight. Pieces of flesh tore off, bones cracked and heat increased. A blast of fire erupted from its stomach, forcing its enemy back for only a second. Urbosa stepped into attacking range, swinging her scimitar at its head. A smile spread across its face as it evaded. Although gravely wounded, Fire Blight is now much stronger than before because it had adjusted completely to Urbosa's speed. However, lightning struck immediately, slightly crippling Fire Blight. Another attempt on its head was taken but stopped as a hand coated in hot magma outstretched towards the attacker.

Fire Blight's improved reactions were thanks to a now exposed engine made of ancient technology. This engine produced dangerously high heat that could melt anything. A unique quirk of this engine was particularly troublesome. Any damage taken made Fire Blight stronger and faster. This new strength would be placed on full display. Heat transferred from its hand into sandy depths. Urbosa got in close. A large spike of glass came up from beneath her feet, luckily her shield prevented a fatal wound.

While suspended in midair, several fire arrows rained down on top of Urbosa. She managed to evade some then brought down lightning bolts to counter everything else. Glass walls shot past her, making her descent linear. There was a ceiling above Urbosa, blocking out her sky. All that awaited her is a downward trending road straight toward hellfire, moments from being unleashed. Fire Blight's body grew twice the size of before. Engine whirring, burning. Fire erupts from the depths of its throat, filling up the closed space and melting through its other end. Nothing remained except waves of heat and a sky cleared of clouds. Fire Blight cools and repairs itself. Turning back to Gerudo Town, something caught its eye. A slender structure coated in sand, not only that. Some pure glass made from the previous structure as well.

Urbosa's half melted scimitar pierced Fire Blight's chest, and its engine shattered. Although her weapon had been melted down to a stump, Urbosa still fought strong. Both scimitar and shield were not as they once were. They had been modified to hold a certain amount of lightning within, reaching their individual thresholds would cause a breakdown in the material. She used all that was stored in her shield to get out of her glass cage and ensure her safe landing. Now she summoned forth everything left in her scimitar to damage her enemy. She would not succeed as a heat melted her scimitar's blade.

Urbosa dashed back, Fire Blight stood straight. It recovered from the wound, the engine could not be recovered thanks to it being ancient technology. Urbosa would not wait another second, she stepped closer. An uppercut snapped Fire Blight's head back. Another strike followed then several more. Her prowess in terms of physical combat was matched by none across Hyrule. Her anger only made the blows landing that much more devastating. Black clouds began to form overhead, each attack landing on Fire Blight was the thunder warning the lightning to come. All of her rage, her fury channeled into blows shattering blackened bones. Her calm demeanor dropped, a fire burning hotter than any displayed in this battle burned within.

This matter was not only for Zelda. It is for her, the birth of Ganondorf and the warriors lost due to her negligence. Nothing would stop her from exacting revenge against the being who disrespected what she held sacred. No more would Ganondorf sully her people's name because he will die tonight. Glass spikes came from beneath Urbosa cutting up her legs, arms, torso and back, locking her in place. However, a flex of her muscles shatters this glass completely, despite her injuries, she manages to pin Fire Blight. Adrenaline made the champion's grip stronger than ever before.

"Heaven's Fall!" Lightning rains down onto the duo. Urbosa had built a resistance to her own blessing, but up to a certain threshold. However, her shield could redirect any excess power somewhere else. This place is Fire Blight. Unlike normal people, Malice constructs were not conductors. It had to internalize all of the damage it sustained. It tried to move away from Urbosa by sacrificing its arms. This would fail as fingers dug into its face.

"You… won't get… away!" Urbosa's body was approaching its limit, but she wouldn't stop until Fire Blight turned to complete ash. A screech came from Fire Blight, there was no hope for escape as its body began to break down into pieces. The assault lasted for two more seconds, Urbosa fell to her knees. Skin and clothes smoking with slightly frizzled hair.

Several fulgurites surrounded Urbosa, she looked up from the sands to see a jewel in front of her. It glowed gently. Reaching out for it, a whisper came from it. Nothing audible but the voice seemed familiar with Urbosa. She fell to the sand, weak from exhaustion. Suddenly, the jewel floated upwards and away from the desert, toward Hyrule Castle.

"Lady Urbosa!" Talia lifted her chief into her arms. "Can you hear me?"

"Talia… take me… to… Naboris." Although she complied, Urbosa's labored breaths worried Talia greatly. Urbosa had scars that looked like lightning bolts from her feet all the way up her stomach, arms and face. The two eventually made it to Naboris who kneeled for its Champion. Urbosa stood tall on her feet and slowly rolled out her shoulders.

"Chief Urbosa, please take my sword."

"You'll need that to defend yourself in case anymore monsters appear."

"I understand that but you'll be fighting Ganon after you use your Divine Beast. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I didn't offer you some way to fight when you need it most!" Urbosa placed a hand on Talia's shoulder.

"I appreciate your help but I'll be fine. You need to get back to town, your mother would want you to continue defending home." Talia reluctantly wiped away her tears. She nodded then turned back to her town. Urbosa entered her Divine Beast, leaning on the entrance way walls. Once she made it to the control room she switched out her weapons for fresh ones, however, this pair could not contain lightning within them. Urbosa moved her Divine Beast into place after seeing Revali's move. This time alone gave her a moment to absorb everything. Her fingers dug into the control panel, a mournful breath left still lips. She focused on Hyrule Castle, its destroyed state worried her.

"... Please be safe Zelda."
