Nathalia had gathered with all of those that were going to participate in the coup regarding what was going to happen. She was ready to crown herself czarina as the provisional government was proving to be ineffective, the only way for her to be effective was to have the school under her control. Kerensky meanwhile was thrown into even further chaos, the failed offensive and the rioting that occurred shortly after the battle meant that everyone was moving in and trying to oust him. Kerensky was sitting by with Himari and Yuri as they were discussing the events that had occurred earlier that day.
"With the only students still fighting being the Gregor Legion as no one in Saunders wants to fight for any of us at this point, Kuromorimine had been given a free hand and seized Riga. They plan on taking Saaremaa and Hiiumaa next as there is no one stopping them at this point." Himari began as the situation was growing dire; everyone hated each other and had splintered off into their own respective groups.
"Do you think winning the war is feasible at this point? I'm still having trouble keeping the population calm. Hopefully Nathalia's promotion will calm down the people." Kerensky asked if the war could still be won. For the others they were less certain but they were uncertain about Nathalia's position as the supreme commander and they were getting worried about Nathalia getting power hungry ideas. Then the letter slipped through to their office. Himari walked over and picked up the letter. The letter was from Nathalia and when Himari decided to bring the letter to Kerensky; their fears were starting to come true. Kerensky grabbed a mail knife and opened the envelope to see what Nathalia had to say. Nathalia's letter was a list of orders for Kerensky and the others to follow.
• Declare a state of siege in Petrograd
• Transfer all power to Nathalia Kornilov
• Ministers must resign and the Provisional Government must be dissolved
"To arrest!" Kerensky shouted that Nathalia was overstepping her boundary and was going to have the power for herself.
"Do you think we should have the numbers to stop her?" Himari asked if Kerensky was going to try to stop Nathalia.
"I don't think so, we don't even have the numbers to try to stop her at all." Kerensky replied, the fight to try to stop Nathalia was going to be a rather more difficult one unless they had the numbers to size Nathalia up. Himari left the room as Kerensky was left to think. Maybe he shouldn't have given the order to arrest the Pravda students as arresting them had left Nathalia with an opportunity to try to take over, now he felt like he had to apologize for his actions.
The Pravda students and middle school sailors were in their holding cells awaiting for a fate that wouldn't seem to come. They were bored and had nothing to do other than chat. Suddenly, footsteps were heard as they were coming to them. Nonna looked up as the students were trying to figure out who was coming. They looked at the man who had the keys as he began to unlock their prison. Lisa was confused, who was it that was freeing them from their cell and unlocking their cage. It was Kerensky.
"Look Lisa, we need to talk." Kerensky began. Lisa and the others came from their cell beds while looking at them.
"What is it, Kerensky, did you have a change of heart?" Lisa asked. Kerensky began to think about it.
"Well I'll give you a deal; I will let you all go if you help me stop Nathalia from taking over the school." Kerensky began. Lisa and the others began to think about it. They wanted to be free and they were being presented a deal to be let go from their cells. This deal definitely sounded tempting.
"Promise me if you free us, you free all the others that have participated that have been wrongly accused. Then we will help you." Lisa told Kerensky that if those that had participated during the riots were freed, they would participate in stopping the enemy from taking over the school. Kerensky began to think about this and decided to say it.
"Deal." Kerensky replied. He grabbed the keys and began to unlock all the cells of the students that had been wrongly accused. The people having their shackles come off were enthusiastic about it and they were willing to do it.
Lisa had the students organized, with some of the students having not been captured, they were operating independently, Nathalia had the power of soldiers but Lisa and her friends had the power of workers and they were going to do what workers did best. Nathalia and her troops were on the train and heading to the school to overthrow Kerensky. It was clear that they were going to not have the support in time unless the students that were acting independently made their first move. Nina and Alina, who hadn't been captured had decided to rip up the rails with a few other students that they formed a group to conduct sabotage and prevent Nathalia from reaching the school.
"Yekaterina, Nadezhda, the train is coming, hide you two!" Nina called out to the Pravda students. Nadezhda got on her horse and galloped off with Yekaterina taking cover in a nearby bush. Nathalia's train was approaching as the train began to slow down, the fallen tree and the ripped up rails were going to act as a stalling point to try to delay the coup as long as possible. Two students from the train walked over to see what the damage had been done. Nathalia looked ahead to see the train had stopped. She walked over and decided to briefly get off the train to see what was up. The two students returned as they had news for her.
"Nathalia the track has been damaged and we have to repair it." One of the students explained to Nathalia that they now needed to fix the track if they were going to be able to press on and stage the coup successfully. Nathalia wasn't happy about this.
"Heck!" Nathalia shouted. The students knew they needed to fix the tracks if they were going to press on and seize control of the school. The Pravda students watching this decided to slip off as they were going to fall several more trees in an attempt to block the tracks. Megumi who was watching this decided that this really wasn't for her and knew she needed to tell Lola that she had made up her mind and wanted to be reintegrated into the Gregor Legion; Meugmi got off the train and snuck off as several students followed her. They were definitely not going to be working with Nathalia. Meanwhile with Kerensky, Lisa was raising up the guards that were going to stop the coup from happening.
"Nathalia and her troops are advancing to Petrograd. We don't know if we will be able to defend the school and prevent her from retaking it." One of the men working for Kerensky began. Kerensky began to think about what the next course of action was going to be.
"We freed all of the Pravda students and we asked them if they wanted to help defend Petrograd." Kerensky told them. "Get the Red Guards ready to defend the city." Kerensky explained to the men that they would need to be armed en masse if they were going to be able to defend the city. The man got up and left the room leaving Kerensky and Lisa alone. Lisa turned to Kerensky and she began to speak to him next.
"We are willing to help you. Several students that haven't been caught have been ordered to act independently to slow Nathalia down. Agitators are on the way but the Red Guards still don't have weapons." Lisa told Kerensky that they were willing to give a hand but they didn't have any supplies to defend the school in case Nathalia was able to reach them.
"You will have weapons." Kerensky told Lisa that the rioters that were freed were going to have something to defend the school with. Lisa wisely nodded with agreement. With the students acting independently having reformed with the Red Guard to defend the school. The students stood there tense, ready for the train to arrive. The hiss of the whistle was heard as the train approached the school. Once the train stopped just outside of the school, Nathalia and the students got off to attack. Lisa began to count the students up that Nathalia had promised to bring with her. The so-called thousand students she was going to use to overthrow Kerensky were no more than a few dozen.
"Arrest her!" Lisa gave the order. The Red Guards came pouring from their positions and within moments quickly overwhelmed Nathalia and the students who stayed to help conduct the coup. Nathalia was quickly handcuffed by Clementia and was escorted away from the scene, making Kerensky breathe one big sigh of relief.
"Looks like everything is starting to come into my favor, we only had to deal with a few dozen students and by the information they got from a couple of the students, there wasn't much fighting we had to do as the coup just fell apart and most of the students had deserted." Kerensky told them that this was an easy victory for them and now with the coup having been taken care of, now came the chance to have a peaceful solution.
"Much appreciated, you couldn't have done it without us." Nina told Kerensky as she was thankful for them having staged the destruction of the coup and causing the students to turn away. Kerensky nodded before he began to speak.
"Hey girls, thanks for the help. Couldn't have done it without you. Now that there's no longer any threat, how about you all uh… return those guns I gave you." Kerensky requested that Lisa and the rest of the Red Guard decide to return the rifles he provided them with if they were going to stop Nathalia. Lisa began to think about it for a moment before deciding to come to a logical response.
"No." Lisa told Kerensky she wasn't willing to give the weapons back to him. Kerensky looked on before he realized that he had made a huge mistake.
"Oh No!" Kerensky told himself.
As the Red Guard gathered later on that night, the united group had managed to secure themselves a lot of rifles and ammunition. Reunited at long last, they began to talk among themselves about what exactly was going to happen. Lisa was going to take up the role of speaking. Many of the Saunders students were starting to join the Red Guard as Nathalia's failed coup was giving them more of a reason to join the Bol'shinstvos.
"Sisters, great news has fallen upon us. In order for Kerensky to kill a rat, he has given a gun to a bear. A bear that will scream: SEIZE THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION! Now that we have defended the school from the enemies, we're now reunited and we're more than happy to accept the thousands of new Saunders students that have decided to join our group as well as the dissolution of the Men'sinstvos." Lisa has told the crowd that the schools were slowly coming together if they were going to have their chance of overthrowing Kerensky and making the push to Communism. "Also who wants Natalia back to Saunders if we are to stage the revolution?" Lisa asked if they wanted to bring back the girl that ended up fleeing to help them be put in charge.
"Call her and tell her that Nathalia has been defeated and ask her to help stage the revolution." Konstantina suggested that they should try to get her attention and bring her back to Saunders. Lisa nodded before she pulled out her phone and began to dial in the number.
Fumie and Alexandra meanwhile were still on the Jatkosota school ship to avoid getting caught. Fumie felt a buzzing in her pocket. She takes the phone out of her pocket to see who was trying to call her. It was Lisa. Fumie knew there was no time to waste and decided to place the phone to her ear.
"Hello?" Fumie asked whoever it was that was on the phone trying to call her.
"Fumie, are you there?" Lisa asked if she was going to be there to speak.
"Yes I am here, what is it that you need?" Fumie asked if there was something that Lisa needed from her. Lisa could barely contain her excitement as she needed to give her the good news.
"We have no one to face as we need you and Alexandra back so we can overthrow Kerensky. We got locked up but the man needed us to stop Kornilov. Now is the best opportunity to stage the revolution." Lisa explained to Fumie that they needed them back if they were going to stage the takeover of Saunders. Fumie smiled as she too was excited, there might be another chance to have the revolution she desired to have.
"Okay, me and Alexandra are on our way. Sit tight and don't do anything for now." Fumie replied to Lisa's request. The revolution needed to be put on hold for now until she got to the school and they could begin planning. Lisa hung up before Fumie turned to Alexandra. "We have another chance of staging the revolution that we want to do. We shouldn't make haste. Let's get the first plane back to Saunders and figure out the plan on what we are going to do."
"All right, let's finally complete your dreams and I can begin rebuilding the school in my own image." Alexandra added that she wanted to regain control. Fumie nodded before they both began to walk away.
Within a couple of hours the two girls had returned to Saunders. Alexandra swiftly herded Fumie into the building where all of the students were being held. When they arrived back, everyone cheered for their return especially Fumie as Pravda was happy to have their old leader back.
"I see we're back but are there more students than we had counted, where did they come from?" Alexandra asked as she was counting over the members they had. They were originally a few hundred and now they are a few thousand people.
"Many of them joined as Nathalia's coup fell apart and they are beginning to take into consideration the idea of Communism. With you back at the helm, we should begin planning the takeover of the school. These are Saunders students who think the only way forward is by joining us." Lisa explained where all of these extra students came from. Alexandra nodded with approval.
"Oh looks like the numbers are being boosted. We should plan before we strike." Alexandra replied with approval. Fumie was nervous about this as if her toes were starting to go cold.
"I'm still suspicious that Kerensky might still be after me so I'm going to go into hiding for the time being." Fumie began as if she thought the school still wasn't safe, she was going to take a back seat for the time being until it was safe for her to play a bigger role in the revolution. "Lisa, I'm putting you in charge of the revolution and Alexandra, your job is to take the Winter Palace and force the Provisional Government inside to surrender."
"Right." Alexandra replied to Fumie that they needed to take over the school if they were going to win the revolution. "We need to take control of the telegraphing building, the railroad stations and the granaries to see how much grain remains. We need to do this swiftly so the enemy doesn't have time to attack and then we can begin negotiating Kuromorimine for a peace deal." Alexandra laid out the plan that they were going to try getting peace first before they fixed the situation regarding the workers starving. They were still at war and with the current chaos that was unfolding, Kuromorimine was drawing its resources away to deal with the other schools.
"Right to say that." Clementia replied.
With Nathalia in jail, the steam regarding the provisional government was at a low and some of the students who didn't like the new government or didn't want to be part of the revolution were beginning to plot for their breakaway to form their own schools or evacuate to find comfort in others. Lola and the Gregor Legion were currently stationed at the train station right outside of the school, preparing for their long trip to get out of there. Nelly was reading a newspaper while figuring out where their train was.
"Olive Academy and Qing Academy had joined the Triple Entente and declared war on Kuromorimine and its allies." Nelly began. Lola wasn't too amused.
"Well the schools should have a free hand as Saunders is pretty much done for. Nelly, I appreciated what the Gregor Legion had done for us but at this point, there's nothing to be fighting for at this point. I might as well start applying for a transfer to another school." Lola explained that the school had collapsed and revolutions were now springing up. She didn't know how much longer the school was going to hold on to. What was next? The school ship was going to sink? They didn't know how much it was going to be.
"We can give you refugee for the time being until you've made up your mind on where you want to go." Nelly offered Lola the chance to stay at her school until everything was sorted out. Then someone appeared on the platform. She hoped that she didn't miss out on anything regarding what was going on.
"Oh, I hope I didn't miss the train." Megumi began. Lola and Nelly got up, they raced over before hugging her in their embrace.
"Megumi! You've decided to change your mind. So you're coming with us?" Lola asked, she was happy that her friend didn't participate in the coup.
"Yep. I thought the coup was a bad idea as there were mostly fallen trees. I've decided to pack my bags and come along with you. I too am leaving." Megumi explained that she promised she was going to go with them and with everything going badly, she made up her mind to evacuate with the legion.
"Well hop aboard looks like the entire school is going down so we might as well request the evacuation whenever we can." Lola explained to Megumi. Megumi nodded as the train began to slowly pull up to the platform. Once it stopped, the students began to board as they wanted the chance to go back to Gregor. As for Lola and Megumi, they were riding along to make sure they got the legion to safety. Megumi looked over at her friend. She didn't know what her future was going to be like and began to think of which school she would best fit into. For Lola, she wasn't certain either. The train's whistle blew as they were beginning to pull away from the station. With the school having been ravaged, they couldn't go very fast or very far. This evacuation was going to be a long one.
Time was on the side of no one.
[A/N]: We are pushing onward with the next chapter actually being the revolution that the Pravda students have planned. I am super excited about this as we're finally there, the revolution that will turn the capitalist Saunders into a one where the workers will live and work freely. There are still a few problems, the war is still going on which Saunders is still in it and now civil life is beginning to break down as everyone is still siding with who. The revolution of the next chapter will be what pushes everything over the edge.
We also hit four thousand views for the fanfic all together. I wasn't expecting this to happen but I like the progress we are heading to. Hopefully we can get another hundred views when the revolution is posted and then another hundred after that. I would mean another thousand for the next ten chapters posted. I really love the fact that this is picking up steam and it needs more to keep the locomotive rolling.
The next stop for our locomotive: Communism.
