CRASH

A wooden piece of the structure fell and crashed against the stairs.

The dining room area was a mess, with minor flames.

Kosgrove regained consciousness and shoved off a piece of debris. He soon saw several pieces of debris on fire. "Screw this, I'm getting out while I can!" He soon found an exit.

Both Olivia and Ariel were unconscious, hidden behind a pile of debris. Unfortunately, Olivia was partly underneath some debris.

Donald was coughing as he looked for the exit.

A screech was heard as he flinched. It was none other than Swoops. He had his legs wanting to reach for Kosgrove and drag him down to justice. Swoops screeched louder than ever. Kosgrove saw the exit, the fire was spreading quickly and he had to do something quick.

Swoops screeched again. "Al- Alright! Ni- Nice birdie! Sta- Stay back now!" He started backing away as Swoops slowly flew forward to him, with his sharp talons wanting to grasp onto him. He screeched louder.

Donald looked around, trying to see what he could use as a distraction. Swoops screeched loudly as he continued to near Donald, wanting to clinch his talons onto him.

"CAN'T SEE ME NOW, BITCH!" Kosgrove threw a coat near Swoops, but Swoops flew underneath it. Donald hid in a phone booth the station had.

Swoops' talons crashed against the glass, shattering it. He screeched loudly as he looked menacingly.

For a bald eagle, Swoops was very tough and brave. He continued to hover near the phone booth, screeching at Donald. He looked up and soon flew away.

The only exit was blocked off as the fire had spread to it.

A wooden structural piece began falling.

CRASH

KA-BANG

Swoops knew what he was doing. The wooden structural piece crashed onto the phone booth where Donald was boxed off.

He sighed in relief. Swoops immediately crashed his talons against the booth again and screeched. He stopped as he heard two PASS devices going off.

He soon hovered over to the dining area. He caught a glimpse of his unconscious friends. His family, practically.

Swoops started to fly away, leaving Kosgrove. He soon exited the phone booth, coughing as he started to look for a way out.

The upstairs was filled with junk and debris now. Swoops came flying up and soon saw a way to Ariel and Olivia. He soon flew to the pole, and circled around it as he flew down to the dining room.

He soon entered the dining room and hovered around for a moment. He soon found Olivia and Ariel. He soon landed near them.

He started poking around Olivia's face, hoping she was still alive.

After poking around a few times, Olivia soon opened her eyes to a bald eagle she knew. "Sw- Swoopsie? Is that you?" She started to smile.

She soon shoved off the debris she was stuck under, with Swoops helping her out.

She soon sat up and saw that the fire was starting to spread. "Let's get outta here. Help me get Ariel to wake up!"

Sirens were heard blaring with a jet engine roaring. It was the UFRT, PRT, and Hyperjet. The trucks rushed by with their horns honking as the Hyperjet followed.

Shadow was in the UFRT, along with Scarlet and Travis. He looked ahead to Station 51 where flames poured from the upstairs windows.

Shadow kept looking ahead at the raging flames in the station, while Spinelli and Travis gave worried looks. The raging flames were reflecting off the windshield.

Shadow gulped as he looked down for a brief moment.

Both sirens of the PRT and UFRT soon stopped as the UFRT was coming to a stop, but Shadow hopped out while the truck was stopping. The PRT stopped behind it while Shadow ran behind the truck, and saw the pouring flames.

Shadow ran to the entrance of the station while the truck sirens flashed around. A bar was seen near the UFRT. Scarlet and Travis had gotten out, but Spinelli noticed something wrong.

Shadow ran to the entrance. "… Woah, HEY!" Spinelli ran after him as the Hyperjet started to land.

She clenched his suit and tried to yank him. "WATCH OUT, SHADOW!" Clanging was heard coming from the doors.

The two nearly fell backward, but they ended up stepping backward as fire exploded from the entrance.

Shadow was breathing heavily. "Good job, Scar!" Travis told her as he had an axe in hand. Warren and the others ran over. "Come on!" Shadow ran to the garage which was located behind.

Everyone started running behind him.

Inside, Olivia, Ariel, and Swoops were trying to find a way out. They froze as they saw a room engulfed in flames.

The window on the door revealed the raging flames on the other side. "That's blocked off, come on!" Ariel said as she coughed. "Come on, Swoops!" Olivia told him.

Ariel soon found the kitchen exit, but the door was severed from the debris that fell and crushed it. Olivia and Swoops were behind her.

"Come on!…" She tried to get the door open. "COME ON, DAMMIT!"

Swoops started to screech.

"All doors are blocked, there's no way in!" Warren exclaimed. "The roof's unstable, could give any moment!" Trickshot added.

Everyone was talking over each other, but Shadow heard something else apart from their shouting. They also found the QR Jet with minor dents around the front.

"HEY, QUIET! QUIET!" Shadow silenced them.

The sound of crackling flames was heard, but something else was heard. It was the screech of a bald eagle.

Shadow and everyone else heard the screech from inside. "It's Swoops. He's found Oliva and Ariel!" Shadow ran to the garage doors, and so did everyone else.

Everyone started grunting, trying to wedge open the garage doors, but it was pointless.

"COME ON!" Shadow and Rhonda tried to wedge their blades underneath, but they couldn't.

"SHADOW, IT'S NO USE, IT'S NOT WORKING!" Kliff shouted as he tried to wedge his axe under.

"Hang on! Wait! Sapphire! Where are you?" Shadow asked. "Right here!"

"If we can't wedge it open, we'll just break through! Can you do that?" He told Sapphire. "Is water wet? Of course! Just stand back!" Everyone stepped back from the doors.

Sapphire went to the door Shadow was at and soon formed a fist. "I can only weaken it, you guys will have to break through." She lined up where she was going to hit.

"Montgomery, Warren, Scar, you're all with me on this!" Shadow told them. They only nodded.

CRACK

Sapphire managed to create a big crack to weaken the door. "Alright! Go!" Sapphire told them.

"STAND BACK!" Shadow shouted as Travis and Kliff started to chip away at the door with their axes.

Olivia tried to use her blade to wedge open the door, but a loud creaking was heard.

CLANK

Her sword broke. Olivia threw it in frustration as they were now stuck.

"Alright! You guys, go ahead!" Kliff told Shadow and Scarlet as they stepped back.

Shadow and Scarlet lodged their blades into the weakened door, tearing off whatever was left.

Shadow grunted as he tore off a piece. Spinelli punched out the rest, but a voice was heard.

"HOLD ON, HOLD ON! I'M COMING OUT!" It was Donald Kosgrove. He started to climb out, but Shadow yanked on his leather jacket and now held him.

"Kosgrove! WHERE'S MY DAUGHTER?!" He asked, infuriated. "I- I DON'T KNOW!" He replied as sirens were heard while Spinelli looked inside the hole. It was a Ladder truck arriving. The truck soon parked and hissed to a stop.

"The place was in flames when I got here! I thought I heard someone inside but I couldn't find anyone! I tried! I really tried!" Kosgrove explained and then coughed.

"Get him some oxygen." He threw him aside. He soon looked at Travis and Kliff. "Don't let him leave." He told them in a serious tone.

Shadow soon climbed into the hole. "Shadow! I'm coming with-"

"No! You stay out here with the others!" He replied as he ran off.

Warren walked off. "Let's hit this fire!"

"Let's get the trucks over here!"

Ariel was trying to force open the door with Olivia's help while Swoops screeched continuously.

Shadow heard where it came from and found them fast. He guided himself with his chest flashlight.

"Guys!" He called out. "Dad!" Olivia also called out.

He tried to open the door, but it was damaged by debris. "Are you alright?"

"It's getting harder to breathe! And the door won't budge!" Ariel coughed. "Stand back and stay low." He told them.

He soon grabbed his blade and sliced off the door handle. He hit the door with his shoulder. "Come on! COME ON!" He kept hitting the door.

Olivia soon noticed something. "Dad, wait!" He looked at her through the door window. "Give me your sword and I can bust the hinges!"

"But where's your blade?" He asked. "It broke! But give me your sword!"

"If I break the glass the fires gonna flash over!" Shadow exclaimed. "Trust me!" Olivia replied.

Shadow paused for a moment. He exhaled through his nose. "Stand back." Olivia nodded and stepped away.

"Ok!"

Shadow soon broke through the glass on the door with his sword, feeding the fire more oxygen as it slowly grew. He stuck his sword through the window.

Olivia grabbed it carefully. "The top one first! Top one first!"

Olivia started hitting the door hinge, slowly chipping away at it.

"Come on, you can do it!"

She kept swinging and hitting it but, "It won't break!" She exclaimed while hitting it. "Lay on it, Olivia!"

She sliced off half of it. "Come on, Olivia! You got it! Come on!" Swoops started to screech again.

Olivia grunted as she struggled to hit it. She soon winded up a swing. She swung the sword and slashed off the door hinge.

"Got it!" She stood back with Ariel and Swoops. She stored the katana in her sheath.

Shadow kicked down the door, making a way out.

He kneeled as Olivia ran to him with his arms open for a hug. "Oliva!" He hugged her. "Daddy!" She hugged him tightly.

Swoops flew out while Ariel put an arm over Shadow. "Come on, Swoops, get us out of here!" Arnold said to him. Swoops squawked once as he flew toward the garage door, Shadow used his flashlight to guide his way through the smoke.

Olivia clenched onto her father as she and Ariel coughed.

Outside, many Engine and Ladder companies had arrived, surrounding the firehouse. Scarlet, Trickshot, and Travis were with a hose as they looked at the garage door hole.

Travis noticed Swoops. "Hey, look!"

Swoops came flying from the smoke, with Shadow, Olivia, and Ariel behind.

"Warren! Pheebs! We got 'em!" Spinelli called out. Travis and Scarlet let go of the hose as they ran toward Shadow.

"Come on, they need oxygen!" Travis got a hold of Ariel and took her to the PRT to get oxygen. Shadow and Spinelli went to the rear of the UFRT.

Olivia was soon seated on the rear, Spinelli went to check on Swoops and whistled him over.

"You're alright, you're alright." Shadow placed an oxygen mask on her face, but she refused. "Where's Kosgrove?" She asked.

"Just relax." Shadow replied. "No! Dad, he's the one responsible for the factory fire! He's been setting fires lately in place of Adcox! He set them all, Dad. Even the factory fire…" Olivia coughed as she started breathing from the oxygen mask.

Shadow heard what Olivia said, and soon saw Donald seated at the rear of a Ladder truck. He gave an infuriated look. He walked to the truck. Travis noticed.

"Shadow?" He walked with him. Spinelli eventually noticed and walked to them, leaving Swoops with Olivia.

"Is it true?" Shadow asked, angrily. "IS IT TRUE?!" Kosgrove stood up. "Shadow, nobody was ever supposed to get hurt-" Shadow took him by the collar.

"What about my friends?! WHAT ABOUT MY DAUGHTER!?" He started to choke him. "NO! IT- IT WAS SWAYZAK AND CORBIN SELLERS! THEY PROMISED-" Shadow head-butted Donald's nose, knocking him out.

He threw him to the ground. "Travis, Scar, get him to the cops." Shadow told Spinelli and Travis.

They picked up Donald aggressively. "Get your ass up, bitch!" Spinelli yanked his arm. "Aye! P.D.! We got one for you!" Travis called out.

Two police officers came over. "Got it. We'll take it from here." They took Kosgrove.

Shadow stood there for a moment and soon walked back to the UFRT. Olivia was petting Swoops. "Hey." Arnold smiled. Olivia smiled back as she kept petting Swoops. Rhonda came over and leaned on the truck with her arms crossed and smiling. "You really kept your cool in there." Arnold smiled.

Olivia nodded. "Yeah… Must be in my DNA." She smiled. Arnold kept smiling and ruffled her hair. He kissed her forehead after. Arnold then kissed Rhonda who was standing near him.

A Few Days Later

It was morning, a cloudy day too, but it didn't matter.

A newspaper was dropped off, revealing the big scandal about Swayzak again and others.

STADIUM SCAM EXPOSED

As for the Vigilantes, the mayor was finally honoring them by handing them specially-made medals. Medals of courage and honor. A special V symbol was on the medals to represent the team, on the back, it had their nicknames.

Shadow and everyone else were lined up, with the PRT and UFRT trucks behind them. They were all in their suits from the night of the fire.

The mayor came over to them with a smile. She placed Shadow's medal on him. Almost everyone else had their medals. Only, Arnold, Olivia, and Travis were left.

"Thanks." They shook hands and smiled. The audience applauded while smiling. The mayor approached Olivia and smiled.

She soon got her medal and placed it on Olivia's suit. She smiled as they shook hands. "Thank you." The audience clapped and smiled.

For Travis, he had a special medal design. The V symbol with a Fire Department badge surrounding it and axes around it. Warren had the same medal since the two were former firefighters.

The mayor placed his medal onto his formal blue uniform. They shook hands and smiled. "Thank you."

The mayor then presented the entire team to the audience as if to say 'Give it up for the Vigilantes!'.

She then kneeled to Swoops. She smiled as she placed a special medal around his neck. Swoops stuck out a wing to shake her hand. She chuckled and smiled and shook his wing.

Liz and Ray were in attendance and saw their pet getting awarded. Brian and all of Station 17 were also there.

Everyone clapped and cheered for them.

Later

After the medal ceremony, Shadow and most of the others were with Station 17, mostly conversating.

"Aw, how did we miss that? Congratulations, you guys!" Scarlet noticed the medals Pengelly, Nightingale, and Brian had for the night of the factory fire.

"Awesome medals yourselves!" Brian mentioned with a smile. Shadow soon came over. He gulped. "Time to say goodbye, guys." He referred to Swoops.

"Great seeing you again, Brian." Shadow said. Brian nodded and they fist-bumped.

Swoops at Ray's feet, awaiting for his team, and possibly a goodbye... They soon approached him. Ariel was the first to speak, she kneeled.

"Swoops, all these years I never knew you had owners, but now that I know your real name is Apollo, you'll always be Swoops to all of us… You're such a brave and talented eagle, you're so passionate, curious, and funny without even trying…" Ariel got teary-eyed, and so were the others. "I'll miss you, boy, we all will… You'll always be Swoops to us. We'll come see you when we can. I love you, Swoopsie." She petted his head and soon stood up. Swoops then flew up to Ray's forearm.

Ray shook his head. "I don't think so, Flyer."
