For Megumi, Lola and Nelly, they had been guarding the rear for the past week or so. Denikin and Yudenich's attacks had withdrawn some of the pressure off of them but they didn't have the confidence to attack. With no one wanting to fight for Kolchak ever since the coup leading to his take over, this left everyone in apathy. However, hope was coming. A call had been called out and reinforcements were on their way for Megumi. The rear erupted into celebration thinking with these new troops they could launch an attack and try their best to link up with Denikin and begin the assault together to wipe out the Saunders Red Army. Azumi pulled up as she marched forward to Megumi.
"BC Freedom is here to help you with the line." Azumi told the group that BC Freedom was going to do their best to help them. For Megumi, she was now excited as she gave her friend a hug. Azumi decided to arrive with her army, an army of exactly zero soldiers. Nelly looked on as it was just Azumi that came along to reinforce the front. She wasn't pleased. She turned to Lola and began to speak to her.
"So allied help has come at last, by lending us a fat general without troops." Nelly told Lola that there was no help coming at all.
"Yeah this is bad." Lola told them. Lola got up and walked away. She was ready to keep retreating as there was no point in continuing to fight. This was something she didn't want to continue dealing with. Nonna, Yekaterina and Konstantina were preparing for a fresh assault. They had been diverted to try to chase Kolchak down before he was able to regain his strength. Commissar Nakhimov was also participating in this battle as he had participated in the recapture of Kazan and the counter offensive against Denikin. He was being called up again to help assist the students in this next offensive. Kolchak's line was thinly spread out as a bulk of the volunteers were in the rear as they were mostly just guarding the supplies or had completely left the front.
The artillery began to pound the defenses as Nonna was preparing for another assault. Konstantina and Nakhimov were on their horses while Yekaterina was going to hunt them down with her infantry. Their plans were about to go ahead when they heard the chuffing of help, and an armored train had joined them in this battle.
"Yes, we finally got the help we need." Yekaterina told them. She was ready to lead the charge with the infantry.
"Okay new plan, the cavalry will take Yekaterina and the infantry will push south to take Chelyabinsk. The Armored train will help the infantry as they don't have a means of good attack." Konstantina announced to them they were going to get ready to push onward and drive Kolchak off. The artillery guns stopped firing as Nonna and Konstantina prepared to make their charge forward. "May Fumie be with us!" Konstantina called out. The cavalry began to charge forward, they were going to split up and take any objectives that were in their path. The armored train went forward as it was going to support the infantry attack.
The Cavalry attack went in as the front line Whites had been decimated and demoralized. Some only fired their rifles but for others, they simply retreated. Nonna rode out with her saber flashing before she swung down and slashed through the White. The other cavalry went forward as Kolchak's men were getting decimated. For Kolchak, there was no way he was going to keep up the pressure.
Things for the whites aren't any better in Chelyabinsk. The armored train did the job as the White forces were quick to evacuate even with the infantry advancing ahead of the train. They had given up Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk, they kept going as the attack continued. This was causing mass panic in the rear.
Kolchak and his lackeys were trying their best to hold the enemy off. Kolchak was arguing with his staff regarding the situation ahead. Viktoria and her friends had withdrawn as they thought getting Saunders back from Communism was going to be next to impossible at this point and they were going to beg for an evacuation.
"I sent my scouts out there and they reported back that Pravda's momentum is pretty much unbeatable. We got the news that Denikin's attack had stalled and now he's getting counter attacked." Lola told the group that things were going downhill.
"Yeah but which school should we evacuate to? My friends are getting ravaged by now and we don't have enough boats to get us home." Nelly asked the group as their situation was grim.
"I can ask for the plan. We have a few ships left to evacuate you guys. I don't want any of you to face any punishment by the Red Army." Azumi reassured them that they were going to have an evacuation plan. Lola and Nelly smiled as they were going to be rescued but to Megumi she didn't know about Azumi's plan was going to work.
"Are you sure this plan is going to work?" Megumi asked Azumi if the White Army was going to be able to be evacuated. Azumi began to think about this but based on their smiling friends, she had to come to a conclusion.
"Yes it will but we will need payment if we are to carry out the evacuation." Azumi told them that they wanted something back if they were going to get out of Saunders safely. Megumi began to think. They had seized all of Saunders gold reserves nearly a couple weeks back and she was wondering if they could use that as payment.
"We still have gold that we seized from the school's bank, can we use that as payment so we can be evacuated?" Megumi asked Azumi that they should use the gold to pay Azumi for the evacuation. Azumi began to think about it, gold was a valuable commodity for one school to show their wealth but it was also a bargaining tool if someone needed something in a pinch. For Megumi, Kolchak still held onto the gold and they were going to see if they could get the gold from him. Megumi walked up as she spotted Viktoria who was walking the other way. "Excuse me Viktoria but do you have a minute?" Megumi asked Viktoria if she had a chance to chat.
"Sure, what is it?" Viktoria asked Megumi.
"I was just wondering, can we use the gold to pay BC Freedom for the evacuation so we don't get crushed by the communists?" Megumi suggested to Viktoria that they could use the gold they had to evacuate to safety. Viktoria paused as she began to think about it for a moment before she began to speak.
"Well… we can't. I spoke to Kolchak earlier today about the same question as you have and he isn't giving up any of the gold reserves we have I'm afraid." Viktoria began. Megumi was curious to see why Kolchak had his hands clamped tightly on the gold reserves.
"Why?" Megumi asked.
"Kolchak is counting on all of us to hold the city of Omsk at all costs. With the front having collapsed and everyone trying to evacuate, we can't hold on for very long. I tried to talk him into giving the gold reserves but he lashed out at me and threatened to have me marshaled. As it turns out, that gold is making the snake greedy and we're trying to get him to evacuate the gold but it isn't working." Viktoria explained that Kolchak had different plans regardless of the situation at the front. Being able to fight was the one thing, getting out of there was another.
"I guess you're stuck in the same situation as me, I don't think we'll be able to really get out of there." Megumi told Viktoria that if they didn't find a way to secure the gold to pay Azumi to be evacuated, they were going to be trapped. Viktoria agreed and they began to retreat further.
Kolchak was holding Omsk as his forces were dug in the next day, Megumi and the others however, continued to retreat. The riflemen began firing away as Kolchak was still evacuating all of his resources from the city. His troops were unsupported as they had lost much of their equipment. Nonna came around on her horse and drew her saber. The horse galloped up as they were going to take the trench. The White Army charged out as they were going to take the Reds head on. Then the cannon of the armored train fired as the explosion had knocked Nonna off of her horse. The horse was on the ground as she was now pinned between the ground and the horse Nonna tried to draw her revolver but one of the students prepared to shoot her to put Nonna out of action. Suddenly the student was rammed into by Commissar Nakhimov who brutally slashed the student with his saber. The others began to retreat as the infantry showed up and began to overwhelm the remaining White Soldiers. Nonna got up as Nakhimov pulled her to her feet. For Nonna, she brushed herself off before turning to the man who saved her.
"Thanks for helping me out there." Nonna told Nakhimov. Nonna drew her rifle out as she was going to continue helping the infantry fight this battle on foot.
"No problem Nonna." Nabhimkov told her. Then Konstantina rode up to them on her horse and wanted to deliver the news.
"Omsk has been broken and now we're pushing our way through. The gold train however is pulling away faster and faster than we could catch it." Konstantina explained that their gold train was pulling back and they weren't able to catch it.
"Keep going. Saunders will eventually run out of ground to run on." Nakhimov explained that the enemy was going to stop running at some point but for now, they needed to chase the enemy down and eliminate it.
The White army continued to retreat as their retreat from Omsk had ended in disaster, Kolchak was furious when he heard the news that Omsk fell. Everyone marched alongside the railroad tracks as they needed to get off of the ship and get to safety.
The day turned into night as the students continued to march along. Among them was Kolchak, he was hauling about 3.18 billion USD worth of gold as payment. Megumi knew they needed to convince Kolchak to give them some of the gold so they could pay Azumi to evacuate them and the Gregor Legion. Megumi knew that she and Viktoria needed to confront Kolchak about the gold situation so they could be handed the gold to make the deal.
"The entire Omsk defense was a complete waste of time, it only delayed the inevitable. We need to get out of here but with Kolchak having all of the gold, it is going to be difficult to have him hand the gold over to us." Megumi told Lola and Nelly that they needed to evacuate.
"We also have no supplies, we're lacking rifles and ammunition at this point and there is going to be nothing to keep the reds back. The armored train we had captured when this civil war began we had just recently abandoned as none of us knew how to fix it and it had no ammunition left." Nelly also added that they couldn't do much if they didn't get any fresh supplies but for them, they didn't know what they were going to do. Viktoria and Alvina walked over as they decided to take a seat with Megumi.
"Yeah we hear you. We don't want much of the 9th separate tank brigade to be stranded and defeated by Pravda and their Red Army to defeat us." Viktoria expressed her concern. "Even if we do evacuate, a single helicopter could only take a few people at a time and seeing this army contains thousands of people, this task to get out quickly is going to be hard. We also have the gold reserves we have to contend with."
"Getting defeated by our enemy that you've trained doesn't sound so bad right?" Alvina asked. Viktoria ignored her as she turned to Megumi and her friends.
"We don't have any solutions on what to do until Kolchak is forced to give up his gold." Viktoria told them. Then Kolchak stumbled in, he was drunk as for him, he needed to see what they could convince the supreme ruler on what he could do.
"Should we ask him?" Nelly asked. Lola remained silent as she was too scared to do much of anything.
"We'll give it our best shot." Alvina told Kolchak before she got up with Viktoria and walked over to Kolchak.
"Колчак, мы хотели бы поговорить с вами о золотых запасах, которые у вас есть, нам нужно заплатить другой школе за нашу эвакуацию. Если мы не уедем, нас раздавит Красная Армия." Viktoria began speaking. She wanted to tell Kolchak that they were screwed if he didn't give any of the gold to help Megumi and her friends to evacuate. Kolchak looked at Viktoria and he began to speak to her.
"Золото? Это мое! Я не откажусь от этого, нам недостаточно платят за то, что я делаю, и тот факт, что мой соперник решил помочь международной бригаде, пока две школы борются за меня, вывел меня из себя. Я оставлю все это золото себе в качестве мести." Kolchak shouted at Viktoria in his drunken state. He wanted to set things straight and all of the gold he had was his.
"Но нам нужно эвакуироваться, и мы должны найти какой-то способ заплатить Азуми, чтобы выбраться отсюда. Я подумал, что мы используем золото, которое у нас есть, чтобы расплатиться с Азуми, и мы сможем покинуть этот корабль. Мы не можем остаться здесь и оказаться в ловушке без выхода." Viktoria explained to Kolchak, it was either give up the gold now or face being trapped. Kolchak was fed up with Viktoria and he looked at her. Enraged by booze and the fact that Omsk had failed to hold, he turned around and began to scream at Viktoria.
"ЭТО ЗОЛОТО - МОЕ! И Я ЕГО НЕ ОТДАМ! Я ВЗОРВУ ТУННЕЛИ МЕЖДУ НАМИ И ВЛАДИВОСТОКОМ, РАЗ УЖ ОБОРОНА ОМСКА НЕ ВЫДЕРЖАЛА!" Kolchak's voice deafened the room. Megumi listened in, she was horrified as Kolchak threatened to blow up the tunnels between them and Vladivostok which would have stranded thousands of people if he didn't have his way. For Viktoria, she had enough. She turned around and left, she knew Kolchak was no longer trustworthy.
"He's not going to listen, we better find a way to get this man out of power." Viktoria explained to Megumi that Kolchak in his enraged state wasn't going to give up the gold. Megumi nodded and walked off with Viktoria. Hope wasn't lost for the group however as Lola appeared with news for Megumi.
"Megumi, you seem shocked, I have news for you." Lola began speaking to Megumi.
"Oh yeah. Kolchak isn't going to listen to us. So, what's the news?" Megumi asked Lola if she had any ideas of what was going on. Lola nodded before she began to speak.
"Socialists have staged an uprising in our rear and have taken over the city of Irkutsk." Lola told Megumi. Megumi paused before she began to speak again after letting the news get processed in her head.
"We have yet to pass Irkutsk, if we pause and figure out what the socialists want, we can finally go home." Megumi told Lola. Lola nodded before she went ahead to contact the socialists and come up with a deal that would allow them to leave.
The night slowly turned into midnight, Megumi was waiting nearby for Lola and the news. She was thinking of what they were going to do, Kolchak had fired upon them and now they needed something to fire back. Finally Lola appeared as she was carrying a note, she walked over to Megumi and decided to strike up a conversation.
"Megumi, I'm back and I got the note from the Socialists about what they want." Lola began. Megumi began to think about it, after coming to some sort of reflection, she turned to Lola and began to speak to her.
"What do they want then?" Megumi asked Lola if the Socialists had any demands.
"Yes, the first thing they want is Admiral Kolchak. If we bring him over to them, they are willing to negotiate with us and have us evacuate the school." Lola explained. Megumi nodded as she saw an opportunity for revenge, to get back at Kolchak for everything he had done ever since they found the gold reserve. Nelly entered the room as she had some news for Megumi and Lola.
"Well I got news, Kolchak has just resigned his position as supreme ruler of Saunders." Nelly told them as Kolchak had just just left the area and went off somewhere. Megumi nodded as she was furious.
"He won't be getting that far." Megumi told Nelly that Kolchak wasn't going to get very far and resigning wasn't going to save him.
Kolchak was in his gold train as he was preparing to flee. Then a knock was heard on the door as Nelly, Megumi and Lola entered the carriage.
"I see you're not happy about this, and we're not happy either." Lola began speaking to Kolchak as her voice sounded of disapproval. Kolchak began to think to himself. "Kolchak, you're under arrest by the socialists of Irkutsk." Lola calmly told Kolchak that she was arresting him. Kolchak lifted his head up from the desk before he looked at the three girls.
"Значит, союзники предают меня?" Kolchak calmly asked. Lola helped escort Kolchak off of the train along with Nelly and Megumi, The three of them would bring Kolchak to a holding cell where they were going to keep him for the time being. Then some appeared as she walked over to them. It was Nonna.
"Well it turns out the admiral tried to run and you had arrested him?" Nonna asked. Lola nodded yes before she began speaking.
"We don't have much else to do regarding everything that is going on. Do you want Kolchak?" Lola asked Nonna if they needed their recently arrested admiral.
"Yes. It's time we give the admiral the payback he deserved." Nonna told the group. Lola and the others stepped aside as two other people approached Kolchak's cell and unlocked the door. Nonna and the two students dragged Kolchak out as they didn't want to do what they had planned for him but they had to do it. Lola, Nelly and Megumi went over to watch.
The three of them were watching from a distance as Kolchak was surrounded by Red Army troops and he had been stripped of his medals. His medals were nothing more than a trophy to the reds. Nina walked along as she had taken the medals for herself.
"Well Admiral, you've had us on a long and wild goose chase to capture you. It seems to be that the Whites had finally been fed up with you and decided to hand you over. Now that is out of the way, do you have any final words?" Nina asked while the small girl was preparing for Kolchak. Kolchak frantically signed the cross as he knew his time was up.
"Передайте моей жене в Париже, что я благословляю своего сына. Я не вернусь домой." Kolchak told the Reds that he wanted his final wish to bid farewell to his wife and son.
"I'll pass. Farewell Admiral." Nina told Kolchak. She got out her revolver before the others got out their rifles. Kolchak stood there and said he was going to have a fate worse than losing everything he had. "Ready?" Nina told the group. The group of students raised their rifles as they had them all pointed at Kolchak. Kolchak knew the end was coming and the end was going to be swift. "Fire!" Nina shouted before she fired the revolver. The students under her command fired their rifles directly into Kolchak. The bullets quickly entered his body, killing him instantly. Kolchak's lifeless body fell to the ground as Nina looked up; they had just performed an execution. They began to walk away as they prepared for the next step. Nelly and her friends watched as the Reds prepared to let Kolchak be buried under the freezing water. Some of the students were keeping the hole open so it didn't freeze over. Nina looked on before she and Alina walked over to where Kolchak's dead body was. Nina grabbed him by the feet and Alina grabbed the shoulders. They pulled Kolchak over to the hole and tossed the body into it. Kolchak's dead body sunk into the river, looks like the Admiral's reign of terror, was over.
Alexandra and Nonna walked over to Megumi and the remaining holdouts an hour later as she was ready to make peace with them. Alexandra sat down first before she was joined with Nonna.
"Megumi, I haven't seen you in a while." Alexandra began.
"I know it's strange that a Red and a White get to meet in peace, is there anything you want me to talk to you about?" Megumi told Alexandra that they can meet in peace. Alexandra began to think as even if they were on the opposite ends of each other, they were still friends.
"Yes I know. So I wanted to ask you when can we get the gold back you took from us?" Alexandra asked Megumi when they were going to get their stolen gold returned to them.
"Well we planned on giving the gold to Azumi to help pay for the evacuation of the entire army and let the Gregor Legion go home. However, Kolchak wasn't going to give us any gold to help pay for the evacuation. With him now having been executed, can we get out of Saunders?" Megumi asked Alexandra about the whole gold situation and their plan to leave. Alexandra began to think about this as this could be a good way to negotiate.
"Well, I'll tell you this, if you give us the gold reserves back to us, we'll cover your evacuation and get the Gregor Legion home." Alexandra told Megumi as she struck up a deal with her. Megumi began to think about what this could mean, if they were going to evacuate and get the Gregor students home, she was willing to take it.
"Deal." Megumi told Alexandra. She handed her hand out and Alexandra grabbed it and shook it. Alexandra smiled as she was more than happy to have her old friend back. Alexandra continued to speak.
"Also, I'm sorry about what happened to Tsarevich Alexei, I was horrified about what they did to him and his family. I just came in contact with a doctor and he told me to give you this for him." Alexandra handed a vial to Megumi.
"What is this poison?" Megumi asked, she carefully mixed the light blue liquid in the vial as Alexandra began to explain.
"It's a cure for Alexei's Hemophilia, it won't completely cure it but it will greatly reduce its effects. I thought of him when I heard the news." Alexandra explained to Megumi. "Take good care of it and give it to him."
"I will, thanks for chatting with me Alexandra.' Megumi told Alexandra before they got up and walked away. Lola had signed the piece of paper to signal their peace. They were now no longer fighting and were free to go home.
Alexandra and Nonna had agreed to cover the cost of the evacuation while the students boarded a train that was going to take them out of there. Megumi however had no intention in leaving just yet and neither did Alice.
"Well it looks like the war is over. I guess that Saunders isn't what Kay told me the school was. I don't think the school will be free at this point and maybe Alexandra has a point with Pravda, the school will be better without Kay." Baby Lee told Alexandra. Some of the students were chatting among themselves, especially Lola as the Gregor students explained how they sunk a Saunders ship and conducted a shore bombardment even if their school wasn't free.
"I'm sorry that Kay lied to you. Maybe taken advantage of you. We don't know what we might do going forward but if we are to work together. We can try to confront this." Megumi apologized to Alice that Kay had made a lie.
"How though? She's most likely going to out maneuver us and try to win." Baby Lee told Megumi that they weren't able to do much of anything if Kay decided to fight to get her own way. Megumi began to think about it for a second before she began to speak again.
"I have an idea. We need to get Kay to be alone before we confront her." Megumi told Alice that they needed to find Kay and isolate her and then they could figure out what to do with her.
"Will this work?" Baby Lee asked Megumi if her idea was going to work.
"It should but I might need to hurt you a bit. Just play the middleman when it comes to this. Try to be friendly to Kay like you usually do but just keep in contact with me when we spring the trap." Megumi expressed to Alice that they needed to follow the plan even if Alice got hurt. For Alice she nodded and then yawned.
"Man I'm exhausted, I haven't been able to sleep properly for weeks." Baby Lee told Megumi, she then fell asleep on Megumi while the train continued along to the port.
Once at the port. Nelly, Lola and Megumi decided to exchange a few last words with each other as Azumi was overlooking the conversation.
"Well good luck to you two. I'll be staying behind as I have unfinished business to attend to." Megumi told Lola and Nelly that she wouldn't be seeing them for a while.
"Where are you off to?" Lola asked curiously.
"It's Kay." Megumi told Lola and Nelly. Megumi turned her head up to Azumi as she had a few words for her. "Take good care of them, I promise I'll be back. I need to find Alexei and Kay first." Megumi explained. She and Alice turned and walked off. Azumi waved her hand as Lola and Nelly watched.
"Good luck," Azumi told Megumi while the three of them walked away. Megumi knew she needed to find Alexandra and ended this how it should have ended.
As friends.
[A/N]: This is the end of the Kolchak front of the Civil War as the Gregor Legion finally gets to return home. Alexandra and Megumi begin making amends despite fighting on opposite ends of each other and now Megumi wants revenge for the one person who has caused them pain and misery ever since she came to the school.
Also this is probably the end for one of the girls in the story as I think I don't have much use for her, Lola. I think her part of the story is complete and she is only going to get mentioned for the rest of the story and maybe a small appearance here and there but she's mostly going to be put on the side. I think the logical thing to do is have her get the Gregor Legion home and if Azumi calls Megumi, it will be updating on what Lola is doing. I think Alice/Baby Lee is going to be carrying the torch for the rest of the way as she and Megumi are going to confront Kay.
Also remember when I said we were at 5k views? Now we're at 5.5k in just a few days. I am surprised as I thought I wasn't going to hit that total but keep up the work. Thank You, see you in the next chapter. Goodybe.
