Ok, I've heard thine laments...thou wanteth me to finish a story...
On a more serious note, I do understand how readers would want a story to be consistent or at least finished for a volume, and while I personally was never one to actually feel very dejected about a long-term HIATUS or a dropping of a story, I can see how one would want an assurance.
So, just to placate some of those too-eager-readers out there, I'll just say that I'll try to update monthly. No promises. (Hides behind desk)
The SCP one? Hahaha...
Anyways, thanks for the comments! Let's see how this would turn out...
Chapter 2 I Had A Dream Yesterday
The wind was howling. It raged so wildly and fiercely that, if a mortal were to open their eyes, the soft membrane would be easily crushed by its sheer pressure.
Eventually, the gales ceased and revealed a golden 'King' who stood proudly in the midst of the white smoke that shrouded the small, dark cellar. The 'King' imperiously tilted his head at the bearded man who was welcoming him with open arms.
"I ask of you. Are you my master?"
...
...
"AH! SABER!"
...Oops, it was a dream.
I numbly stared at the unnecessarily opulent ceiling carved out of gold and marble.
As you have probably guessed by now, this place is Uruk.
"...Hah."
I took a deep breath, calmly walked over to the basin where I washed my face, and smashed the wooden basin into a million tiny pieces.
"Why, why, why!? Why am I still stuck in Uruk with a fucking Sword of Damocles (Death Flag) hanging above my head!? Why am I still 5 years old!? Why couldn't I fast forward and get to the part where I am summoned by Mr. Elegance aka Tokiomi and meet my lovely Artoria-chan at the harbor!? WHY!?"
Prince Gilgamesh, 5 years old, wakes up in the morning and abruptly shouts out something cryptic and unintelligible.
If Lord Anu saw me like this he probably would have cracked open my head to see what was wrong on the inside. I would definitely do that if I were him.
...Welp, there is no way that something so convenient such as a fast time forward. I ain't even a Heroic Spirit, to begin with.
But...I really wonder what I should do...should I really start with my bullshiting? I mean, I got to start at some point but still...I'm Gilgamesh.
Yeah, yeah, sure, I'm the absolute strongest in terms of potential. I should be fearless and arrogant and all that.
Nigh-omnipotent clairvoyance on the level of King Solomon, a sweet mask of a shota, a golden ratio body designed by the gods themselves, and a handsome face.
A soul with enough energy to fill up three Heroic Spirits, and beautiful features which bewitches all women. And a charisma akin to a curse, coupled with a hot smile.
Did I just praise my (Gil's) handsomeness twice? Heh, Diarmuid? Step aside, you faker! Bow down to Gilgamesh the Gigolo!
...Come to think of it, I am nothing but a scatterbrained narcissist who is intoxicated by his own damn face. Can such a pathetic guy really become a Heroic Spirit?
I would send an SOS signal to GAIA to off myself if I were ALAYA...wait. No, nonono...nah, no way.
No way ALAYA went; "Oh my fucking god, an imposter inside Gilgamesh with naughty thoughts about Artoria and Ea-chan!? Off to the ROOT, I say! Off with his head!"
...I'm not so sure of myself. If I was ALAYA or GAIA I would send Cath Palug after my...god damn it.
That's exactly what happened, isn't it?
Anyways. Enough fooling around. Today is the big day.
I glanced at the empty space beside my face.
"System. Show Quest1."
A holographic screen appeared before my eyes, one only I could see.
[QUEST 1: 'All for Ea!']
[ DIFFICULTY: Beginner
DETAIL: Convince Lord Anu into granting the Sword of Rapture to you, the rightful wielder!
REWARD: Ea, Increase Bond Level with Lord Anu and other gods
FAILURE: Decrease Bond Level with Lord Anu and other gods, Low chances of Death ]
"...Very well."
I swallowed and calmed my fluttering heart.
To be honest, from the second I breathed air on this planet, in this Universe of Nasu, I was afraid. Scared. Terrified.
I was afraid of the immense responsibility to my people, scared of the perilous future that lay ahead, and terrified of the dire consequences which waited ominously in the dark.
However, I was also excited. So very much excited. The burning passion inside of me threatened to scorch my soul, yelling at me, screaming at me to make a name for myself as Gilgamesh...to etch a greater mark than my original into human history.
I also wanted Artoria. I didn't know if it was the remnants of Gilgamesh that were affecting me or the System itself, but I wanted her so badly.
"Hesitation is Defeat. It is time."
...
...
The throne of my father was quite simple...even modest. It was made of polished white rock with a red cloth wrapped over it as a symbol of royalty.
I walked up to my father and conjured up my best face of solemnity.
"Lord Father."
My serious tone seemed to catch him off guard. I acted as kid Gil -or was automatically forced into that role by the System- till this day.
In other words, I was the ideal son and adorable prince that everyone loved. Today was not that day.
"...Son? What is the matter?"
My father put down the clay tablet he was skimming over and furrowed his brows in concern. I bit my lip, cast my eyes sideways for precisely half a second, and looked back up at him with a grave expression.
"I had a dream yesterday."
Someone seemed to gasp as I cast a hand over my chest and stepped forward with a dramatic flourish of my arm. My voice suddenly rose, fiery and passionate.
"I had a dream, about a great tide of Black Mud which flooded the Horizon. I had a dream, that may spell the End of the World as we know it. I had a dream about a goddess of the Old, forgotten past, from an age where humungous dragons roamed the earth like men, from an age where the canopy of the forests covered the skies and mountains!"
My father sat frozen, with his mouth slightly agape. The legendary king was captivated by my tale. Good. I carried on.
"I saw myself, clad in Golden armor of the Sun, facing against She who mothered the age before men! And in my hand, there was this Sword. A Nameless Sword which saw the Dawn of this planet!"
My voice was now at its limits. I was practically shouting like a fanatical preacher. Thanks to my body which was at the pinnacle of mankind, my voice stayed as wild as a roaring storm, thundering upon those who heard it and forcibly commanding their full attention.
"A cylindrical, drill-shaped pillar, made up of three independently rotating segments engraved with crimson words of the Great Unknown. A Sword who speaks of the Origin, the one who captured the planet in its Primordial form, before heaven and earth were split, and when it was still a land filled with naught but lava and gas; a hell of scorching heat and intense cold! A Song of Ice and Fire!"
I raised both of my arms to the sky as if to embrace the very heavens, my hands grasping at the imaginary sword before me.
"There I stood, and there I one day shall stand, with the Sword which Raptured the Planet and Split Heaven and Earth, in my hand! With it, I withstood the great terrors before me. We are one...It and I. The memory of Genesis which was long lost...I..."
As if popping out a balloon, I sagged and deflated. My voice dropped down. My father unconsciously leaned in, trying to hear the last words of my tale.
"...I had such a dream. A Dream of Genisis, and of Salvation."
There was a long, long silence. I shut my eyes and waited.
Finally, my father spoke. When he did, his voice was hoarse.
"...I...I shall relay that to your mother...and Lord Anu. He...he must hear this..."
"There is no need for that, Lugalbanda. I heard the Tale of Destiny, loud and clear."
A deep voice resonated through my bones and into my soul. I instantly knew that a god has come to pay me a visit. And from how the voice seemed to wrap a sense of dignity around it like a sleeve, I knew it was none other, but the King himself.
Turning around on my heels, I bowed smoothly with the grace of a ballerina.
"Lord Anu.", I greeted.
[Seed of Skill]
Bullshiting➡ Charisma (Fake): A+
An egotistical Gilgamesh radiating with self-confidence (aka Bullshit) will surely boost the morale of his army to an extremely high level. A natural skill of the god-made prince.
...
...Huh?
What do ya mean by Fake!?
LOL, serves him right. A Pretender through and through! Anyways, how was it?
It would be most helpful if you could let me know your thoughts and criticism and all that good stuff. So...review if you like!
X-kalibuuuur, back to work.
