A very short chapter for ya all. Don't ask for longer ones, this is just my style for this fic. And PLEASE don't pester me for updates.

Chapter 3 Lord Anu Loses his Shit

Anu, or some call Anum, was the divine personification of the sky, King of the gods, and the ancestor of many of the deities in ancient Mesopotamian religion.

He was regarded as a source of both divine and human kingship, though at the same time, his role was largely passive, and he was not commonly worshiped among the Babylonians; a stark contrast to Zeus in Greek mythology.

And that divine king had taken the initiative to pick up his heavy- I mean holy ass from his grand throne. To visit me.

Inwardly, I was screaming due to how my plan was working. I was so elated, I almost fainted when Anu released his royal decree.

"Thou proved to be worthy, shall be chosen by the primordial current itself."

With those words, a crack appeared in the air above us, a gap filled with the abyss-like galaxy decorated with countless stars of the old, and from there, a hilt descended.

A gold hilt with intricate patterns. A handle I knew very well.

"Now, swear the words of promise before It, and It shall grant you a contract fulfilling-"

Lord Anu was still saying something profound, but none of his sermons entered my ears. None could, while my eardrums were filled with the roar of hot blood pumping through my veins.

Unknowingly, I had already grasped the hilt with my right hand. Almost as if a moth were drawn to a flame, I pulled Ea free.

A warm hum reverberated through my bones and up to my skull. Something great arose from the depths of my soul, as my eyes 'saw' Ea as it truly was.

An incarnation of the Beginning and End. The Rule of the Universe itself.

"Fu...fuha...ahaha...FUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Mirth burst through my chest and out of my throat. I felt as if I was finally reunited with a long-lost twin. My own flesh and blood.

The three obsidian cylinders with primordial rune-like incantations etched into its drill-like blade. The magnificence of it all!

I was so busy laughing my heart out, I didn't notice how Anu was standing with a very ungodly look of pure shock right beside me. His jaw was hanging open while his eyes were bulging out.

"What the...what the fuck...what in Ereshkigal's assho...the fuck..."

Anu was mumbling something esoteric, but I couldn't hear him over my own laughter, nor did I care at the moment. I had Ea!

A palace scribe was scribbling away like mad in the corner anyway. I can check on the details anytime if I need them.

After what seemed like minutes of non-stop laughter, I finally calmed down. Anu coughed.

"...It seemeth the Blade has chosen thy hand. Remember this, and remember it well; thou art the chain between man and god, divine and mortal. Never forget that."

With those words, Anu dissipated in a cloud of golden light.

While those words were ominous, nothing could stop me from appreciating my new friend. With a megawatt smile, I turned back to my father.

"I must familiarize myself with my Fate.", I said with the utmost sincerity.

Somewhere in the palace, in Ninsun's quarters...

An infant girl pawed at her crib with an almost...intrigued look on her face. Her crimson eyes sparkled with wit and wild curiosity.

In all honesty, it was as if she held an intelligence that far surpassed her years.

The girl giggled as she traced the arcane charms carved onto her crib that kept her safe from all kinds of harm.

At first, it seemed random, almost play-like. Then, it became more systematic, more...logical.

If a distinguished mage were to see her 'play', they would have either fallen down to their knees in reverence or shed blood tears as they desperately tried to keep their hands from strangling the innocent baby to death in sheer jealousy.

In a matter of hours, the baby had overwritten the charms on her crib and escaped her protective prison.

She clapped her hands in glee, before promptly lowering herself to the ground, and crawled away.

It was only after a panicked mother had called for her son, that she was found by her brother's semi-omnipotent gaze.

The girl smirked.

Oh, the game was on...
