"Anyway, the names of those who passed are listed here in alphabetical order. Keep my words in mind as you search the screen for your name." Mera said.
The large screen presented several names on the scoreboard.
"Wow. A lot of people passed." Shoji stated.
All the students, especially Izuku and Luna, frantically began searching for their names.
Eventually, Luna's eyes widened as she gasped with a smile.
I-I passed the exam! Mom, dad, I did it! Luna grinned.
Izuku gasped once he saw his name on the scoreboard.
I passed! I did it, All Might! Izuku exclaimed.
"I'm up there!" Mineta beamed. "Just call me hero!"
"I did it." Jiro said with a relieved sigh.
"There I am!" Iida smiled.
"Oh, yes." Selene grinned.
"Hell yeah!" Diana cheered.
"All right." Shoji said.
"I'm on the board!" Uraraka cheered.
"Thank goodness." Sero said with delight.
Tokoyami nodded with a smile.
"What a relief." Ojiro said.
"Magnifique!" Aoyama beamed.
"Heck yeah, I did it!" Sato beamed.
"Yeah." Mina smiled.
Koda became utterly flabbergasted.
"Another small step toward being a pro." Yaoyorozu smiled.
"Ribbit!" Tsuyu said with a smile.
"I passed! I passed!" Hagakure said enthusiastically.
"Killed it!" Kaminari smiled.
"Right on!" Kirishima grinned. His eyes turned to Katsuki. "But, uh…"
"No…" Katsuki muttered with an enraged face.
For UA High, most of Class 1-A students have officially passed the provisional licensing exam. But Katsuki couldn't search his name on the scoreboard. Inasa also failed to search his name along with Shoto and Aisha, who looked at the scoreboard with complete silence.
Luna, Diana, and Selene looked at Aisha before exchanging worried faces.
"Todoroki! Rozu!" Inasa yelled.
Shoto and Aisha turned around as Inasa approached them.
"What do you want?" Aisha asked as she crossed her arms with narrow eyes.
After a moment of silence, Inasa slammed his head onto the ground.
"I'm sorry!" Inasa apologized emphatically. "It's my fault that you two didn't pass the licensing exam! My focus was too narrow-minded! Forgive me!"
"You're fine. I was the one who got us off to a bad start." Shoto said.
"But still…" Inasa said.
"And thanks to the things you said to me, I have a lot to think about." Shoto continued.
Aisha just looked away and remained silent.
Mina and Sero listened to the conservation with surprise faces.
"Holy crap. Did they really fail?" Mina said.
"How could our top three classmates not pass the exam?" Sero blinked.
"Shoulda been more careful what you said." Kaminari smirked. "Words are important, you know."
Katsuki slowly turned towards Kaminari with a dangerous expression on his face, scaring Kaminari in the process.
"Shut your mouth before I murder you." Katsuki said threateningly.
"Those entitled people at the top think so highly of themselves, don't they? Their own egos are their worst enemies." Mineta taunted. He placed his hand on Shoto's left shoulder and climbed up onto him. "Looks like our class hierarchy is collapsing."
Iida then grabbed Mineta by the cheeks and dragged him away.
Luna, Selene, and Diana kept staring at their silent friend.
"I can't believe it." Luna said.
"Aisha didn't pass?" Selene said.
"Oh wow." Diana muttered.
"So, next we'll give you the printouts of your results." Mera continued. "They include a breakdown of your scores, so you'll know exactly what areas you need to improve going forward."
The commission officers began passing out sheets that detailed the students' performances.
"We lopped off points when you did something wrong. Fall below 50, and you were done." Mera explained. "These demerits are itemized on your result forms, as you'll see, so I'd look at them."
"83 points? Not bad." Diana smiled as she looked at her sheet. She turned to Selene. "What about you, Selene?"
"Oh, just 95 points." Selene smiled cockily.
"95 points?! What the hell?!" Diana exclaimed in shock.
"What about you, Luna?" Selene asked Luna.
"I got 80." Luna replied. "And you?"
"She got 95 points." Diana wheezed.
"95 points? For a top student, that doesn't surprise me." Luna said with a smirk.
Luna turned her head to Aisha, who stared wordlessly at her sheet.
"Anyway, moving forward, those of you who passed can exercise the same authority as pro heroes, but only during emergency situations. In other words, fighting villains, saving the victims of criminal acts or accidents. You may act using your best judgement with no direct orders." Mera said. "Keep in mind that your every action for now on carries with it a deep responsibility toward bettering our society, and that the world is watching you. I am sure that you're aware that All Might, our greatest hero, no longer has his incredible power. One of the main reasons crimes in this country has been so low is due to his presence. With that deterrent gone, criminals are sure to become bolder and more widespread. Expect the current balance that we currently have in our world to be destroyed, and for things to change quickly. You young people will be the hope for our future. It's imperative that you become exemplary heroes. That your reputations grow to suppress crime as did his. Remember, the license you earned today is provisional, and that you still have much to do. I would like for you to think of yourselves as fledglings, and be even more diligent in your studies. As for those who fell short and did not pass, we don't have time for you to feel better about your loss. Instead, we offer you a chance to redeem yourselves. After you attend a three-month-long special course and pass an individual test, we plan to issue a provisional license to those of you that failed as well."
Katsuki, Shoto, Aisha, and Inasa's eyes immediately widened wide in surprise. They couldn't believe that they were giving a second chance to retake the exam.
"In order for us to reach the idyllic future that I just spoke of, we're going to need as many good heroes on the street as we can get. The first round was one to weed out people out, but we would like to grow the hundred selected in that test as much as possible. That's why we watched you all until the very end, so that we could see for ourselves that you each have promise. That once your shortcomings are correct, you have the potential to be as great as your fellow classmates. This special course will keep you busy as it will run concurrently with your normal studies. You're welcome to retake the exam in April if you prefer to wait." Mera concluded.
"Oh, like hell!" Katsuki yelled.
"Special course!" Inasa roared.
"Isn't that great, Todoroki?" Izuku smiled.
"You and Aisha can take the test." Luna grinned.
"You don't have to." Mineta said. "Just…take it easy. Relax. The hierarchy is collapsing—"
Iida placed his hands on Mineta's cheeks.
"We'll root for you two." Iida said.
Izuku and Luna nodded.
"Thank you." Shoto said. "I'll work hard."
"Me too." Aisha said.
With that, the Provisional Licensing Exam was legitimately complete, which led Class 1-A students one step closer into becoming pro heroes.
Later that afternoon, Luna stared at a hard copy of her provisional license with a wide smile.
"I can't believe this is mine." Luna said.
Diana, Selene, and Aisha walked up to Luna.
"You better believe it." Diana smiled.
"All of our training and hard work had paid off." Selene said.
"Yeah." Aisha said with a frown as she looked away from her friends.
"Hey, don't let all of that get into your head." Luna said, placing a comforting hand on Aisha's right shoulder. "We got your back. We can help you on your training. Whenever you need help, let us know."
Selene and Diana nodded.
Aisha stared at her friends for a moment until she let out a warm smile on her face.
"Thanks, guys." Aisha said.
"Hey! Hey!"
Luna, Diana, Selene, and Aisha turned their heads to the sound of that enthusiastic voice. Their eyes caught the sight of Inasa running towards them.
"Heads up, girls. It's that guy from Shiketsu." Diana warned.
"Todoroki! Rozu! I'll see you two at the special course." Inasa said as he ran past Aisha and Shoto. "But here's the thing. Honestly, nothing's changed. I still don't like you, Todoroki." He then ran back towards his Shiketsu classmates. "Sorry! That's all for now!"
Suddenly, Inasa got slammed to the ground repeatedly by a glowing sea green sensation.
Luna, Diana, and Selene turned their sweatdropped faces to Aisha, who deactivated her Quirk with an annoyed face.
"What an idiot." Aisha muttered.
Shoto then walked close behind Aisha and placed his right hand on her left shoulder.
"Aisha..." Shoto spoke.
Aisha turned around and looked at Shoto.
"I want to apologize for what happened." Shoto apologized. "You were trying to get me and Yoarashi to focus on the task at hand, but our argument got in the way of that. It was because of me you didn't pass the exam. And for that, I'm sorry."
Aisha's eyes widened for a minute, but she put on a warm smile.
"It's alright, Shoto." Aisha said. "I was mad at first. But hearing what Yoarashi said made me believe you still have an unresolved issue with your father and you got a lot of work to do on that. I forgive you. Just promise me you never let your hatred get the best of you again."
"I promise." Shoto said with a small smile.
Elsewhere, Tarot Chariot soared through the evening sky on top of the magic card. She was looking at a text message from Luna on her phone, where it showed a picture of her provisional license and a text that read "I did it!" on the screen.
"That's my girl." Tarot Chariot smiled.
Later that night, Class 1-A students gathered together in the common room.
"So, we're back to normal classes tomorrow, right?" Jiro asked.
"I suppose there's no rest for heroes." Yaoyorozu said.
"Man, I could use a vacation." Sato groaned.
"I'll not forget this summer the rest of my life." Tokoyami said.
Luna headed to the hall as she was getting ready for bed,
"Luna."
Luna gasped sharply. She spun around to see Katsuki approaching right in front of her.
"Meet me out front later." Katsuki said. "We gonna have a talk about your family position and Deku's Quirk."
"What does Midoriya have anything to do with this?" Luna asked.
"You'll see." Katsuki replied.
Katsuki then turned away and walked off, leaving Luna stare at him with silence.
Few minutes later, most of Class 1-A students are deeply asleep in their dorm rooms. Except for Katsuki, Luna, and Izuku. Izuku and Luna are currently following behind the scowling Katsuki.
"Midoriya, do you have any clue what the heck is going on?" Luna whispered to Izuku.
"Not a clue." Izuku whispered back. He looked at Katsuki. "Kacchan, how far are we going? We shouldn't be walking around in the middle of the night."
Katsuki quietly ignored Izuku's words and merely continued walking ahead. With no words out of Katsuki, Izuku and Luna have no choice but to keep following him. Once Katsuki made a sudden stop, Izuku and Luna exchanged confusion as they don't have a single clue on why would Katsuki bring them to his destination.
"You brought us to Ground Beta?" Izuku asked.
"This is the place where we had out combat training where I fought you and lost." Katsuki spoke. "You've always made me sick. You know that, right, Deku?"
Somehow, I knew. This was it. Izuku thought.
"You were useless. No power at all. A joke." Katsuki continued. He looked at Izuku with a side glance. "So now you're gonna tell me how you managed to get into this damn school with a brand-new Quirk that appeared outta nowhere."
Luna narrowed her eyes. She did recall Izuku already admitting about his borrowed Quirk to Katsuki after they both got enrolled into UA High, but Katsuki didn't believe him back then. She silently figured that Katsuki now believed Izuku after everything that happened between All Might and All For One, but that doesn't explain how he figured out about her relation with All Might and Tarot Chariot.
"I didn't understand what you meant back then because what you were saying made no sense." Katsuki continued. "But still, you kept climbing higher and higher, always looking so satisfied with yourself. Ever since that sludge villain…No, it's actually started when All Might came to town. Better and better. Until finally, you passed the licensing exam while I failed. How the hell is that even possible?"
"That wasn't a matter of ability, though." Izuku spoke.
"Shut up and listen, you damn nerd!" Katsuki snapped.
"Bakugo." Luna retorted.
"No, it's fine." Izuku said. "Let him finish."
"It pissed me off that I'd been beaten by such a pathetic weakling." Katsuki said. "But after seeing what happened to All Might at Kamino Ward, I began to understand."
Here goes. Izuku gulped.
"I've been giving it a lot of thought. You got your Quirk from All Might, didn't you?" Katsuki questioned. "He gave you his power."
Izuku looked at his childhood friend with no response.
"I heard about the boss villain. Apparently, he has the ability to steal a person's Quirk and give it to somebody else, which sounds kinda crazy." Katsuki explained as he turned around and faced Izuku and Luna. "But then, one of those old cat ladies had her power taken from her and can't work anymore. And then you met All Might and you started changing. Then he lost his power and had to retire, just like her. I remember what he said after he beat the big bad. We all heard it."
Luna's eyes widened wider. She remembered her father's last message sparked happiness to the citizens, but sadness to herself and Izuku back at Kamino.
"Back then, you was the only one who really understood what he meant." Katsuki continued.
It all made sense now! Luna cried.
"There's more evidence, too. Like how those Nomu monsters had multiple Quirks. Even though it seemed impossible." Katsuki added. "Besides, All Might and that boss villain knew each other before that fight. Quirks can move from one person to another. All Might knew the guy that could do it and somehow, it's all connected to what you said about getting your Quirk from someone else. I asked All Might about this, in a way, but he wouldn't give me a straight answer."
Katsuki then turned his attention to Luna.
"Back at Kamino Ward, when we were fighting those wretched villains, Chariot and that woman shared the same strange mark as you. Not to mention, she did came to kidnap you before Chariot showed up. And then, after All Might beat the big bad, you also understood his message just like Deku. You're not only his daughter, but you're Tarot Chariot's as well." Katsuki explained. "That's why you two are gonna tell me the truth."
Izuku and Luna didn't respond.
"You two aren't trying to deny anything, which means I must be right. So, say it." Katsuki said.
"And what if it's true?" Luna replied.
Katsuki narrowed his eyes, knowing his suspicions were correct all along.
"Deku, we both wanted to be like All Might when we were growing up. But I was the one who had the potential. Then somehow, a little nobody like you was singled out by the person I admired most, and I didn't even realize it. Hell, I didn't even know that the number one hero and his wife enrolled their own daughter into this school for the moment the first semester started. That's why we're here." Katsuki explained. He lifted his left hand out towards Izuku and Luna. "We are settling this. Right here, right now."
Enjoy and review.
