Chapter Three

Rumbling shook the forest and dust rose up into the air, birds flew from the trees and a roar echoed through the surrounding area while leaves flew everywhere. A large metal craft emerged from a structure underground, baring the symbol of the Eggman Empire on its side, it was as tall as several steel girders combined.

Trees smoldered as engines gleamed with blue fire. The ship rose into the sky as a loud cackle echoed across the decks; "THE EGG CARRIER TAKES FLIGHT! ALL HANDS ON THE DECK AND PREPARE FOR DEPLOYMENT FOR WE ARE EN-ROUTE!"

And the rumbling continued as the Egg Carrier ascended higher, the structure from which it had emerged from closed shut and the ship moved forward, leaving the forest behind. Down below, a pair of human archeologists looked up, wondering what was going on. One man in safari gear snapped a photograph and another wrote notes in his log...

Omega made his way through the mechanical hallway, his feet clanging with every step he made, his footsteps echoing upon the metal walls and the floor.

In front of him, the doors slid open, allowing Omega to enter his creator's chamber. Gamma was present along with a pair of other Badniks and another E-series robot, a blacker one.

Robotnik had introduced them to E-101 Beta. The flying bee-looking Badniks were Buzz Bombers and the purple spinning-blade robots were Spinna-Blades, they served their purpose like every other Badnik in his army.

Robotnik stood in front of them, awaiting the bulky battle robot.

"I welcome you aboard the Egg Carrier, Omega..." The doctor purred in a welcoming manner, "It is my greatest masterpiece and my ultimate fortress where I will conquer the world from. But first, to destroy Station Square and build Eggmanland on its ruins."

"Do you want me to obliterate the city?" Omega asked.

"Not necessary, but you are vital to my plan to destroy the city! We are going to a very important place where the key to that plan resides..."

Robotnik pressed a button on a remote and an image popped up on a screen, showing an island floating in the sky, then another image appeared that showed a giant green gemstone in an altar.

"This is Angel Island, where we will be going, and this is the Master Emerald, the energy source that keeps the island afloat..." Robotnik explained, "But there is more to the Emerald than meets the eye, within the Master Emerald, lies a being known as Chaos."

"Mission: Obliterate Master Emerald and save Chaos!" Omega buzzed, "Accepted!"

"Indeed, but all you have to worry about the island's guardian." Robotnik pressed a button again and another image appeared, a red anteater-looking creature with purple eyes and a fierce look on its face.

"RECOGNIZED: KNUCKLES THE ECHIDNA! EXTERMINATE ALL ENEMIES OF DOCTOR ROBOTNIK, ENEMY OF ROBOTNIK HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED! KNUCKLES THE ECHIDNA WILL BE DESTROYED!"

The doctor laughed maniacally, "Yes, yes! And he won't even see it coming!"

"EXTERMINATE! ANNIHILATE! CONQUER AND DESTROY!"

As Omega declared his intent to obliterate, Doctor Robotnik laughed, enjoying the sound of his creation's willingness to serve his creator...

Lightning flashed across the dark and cloudy sky, illuminating the night. Omega stood on the deck, overseeing the horizon as the Egg Carrier approached the landmass that was Angel Island.

It wouldn't be long, just a little longer and Robotnik would have the means to enact his ultimate master plan and it all started with Omega.

"Mission: Destroy Master Emerald!" Omega buzzed, "Mission: Free Chaos!"

Gamma stood with him, weapons primed and ready. Omega would not be alone on the mission, he would have back up, they knew what to do.

"Echidna priority one!" Gamma intoned, "Mission impending, awaiting further orders from Doctor Robotnik, awaiting permission to begin operation and preparing for battle. Island in range, awaiting orders to commence operation."

"This is Doctor Robotnik!" Robotnik blared, "Begin mission, the operation is a go!"

Omega fired up his rocket boosters and took off from the deck, flying towards the island with his battle systems activating. Gamma followed close behind him, the two robots reached the floating landmass and plowed through the jungle. Omega opened fire, obliterating several trees and scattering several animals in seconds.

Gamma unleashed a torrent of gunfire, lighting up the forest around him and his brother. The two robots sped off across the landscape, heading for the Master Emerald altar, obliterating wildlife along the way and all in the name of Doctor Ivo Robotnik...
