Chapter Twelve

His sensors rebooted, his vision clearing up once more.

He was flying over the Mystic Ruins, the remnants of Echidna civilization, the frog in custody once more. And the Egg Carrier was in view.

Omega ran a diagnostics on himself, that light orb was gone. He must have malfunctioned while delivering Froggy, that had been a powerful vision. Nonetheless, his task remained on hand; Deliver the frog to Doctor Robotnik, the frog held a piece of Chaos in it and Chaos needed the tail in order to become whole again.

The battle robot soared to the deck of the ship, soaring past the cannons and the on duty robots. Omega flew in for landing, his boosters settling as he touched down. The frog croaked, struggling to free itself from the E-series robot's grip again, but Omega gripped Froggy harder until he stopped.

No electronic beeping from the communications channel, the doctor knew Omega would be back soon. And there was no doubt that his brothers had returned from trying to collect the frog before Omega, perhaps they'd also gotten their hands on a Chaos Emerald or had gathered more critters for their master's Badniks.

'Report to Doctor Robotnik.' A voice in Omega's mind buzzed.

He stomped through the door, taking the elevator down to the bowels of the ship, heading to the doctor's chambers.

Omega could hear voices on the other side, he could hear his brothers chattering, they'd just returned before him and Omega could make out what they were saying in an instant even before he'd entered the chamber.

"I have collected a Chaos Emerald."

"I found the frog."

"No, I found the frog."

Omega recognized Gamma's voice, the rest belonged to Beta and Delta as well as Epsilon. The door opened and Omega entered the chamber, joining his robotic brethren. Gamma turned to Omega and his eyes flashed, scanning the frog in his possession.

"Subject identified!" Gamma intoned, "You have the frog with Chaos' tail! The rest are either polliwogs or are frogs that never lost their tails."

"I HAVE ONCE AGAIN PROVEN THAT I AM SUPERIOR OVER YOU!" Omega buzzed, "YOU COULDN'T DEFEAT ME WHEN WE FIRST MET AND I WAS THE ONE WHO PROCURED THE FROG BEFORE YOU COULD!"

Doctor Robotnik entered the room and the robotic buzz settled. The doctor approached Omega, seeing Froggy in his possession.

"Excellent…" Robotnik purred, "You have done well."

He turned to face the others, seeing the frogs in the robots' possession.

"As for the rest of you..." The doctor said, "All you did was supply me with more batteries for my Badniks, these frogs will make excellent power sources for the Moto-Bugs or perhaps the next E-series robot that I will create and... What is this? Delta, you have a Chaos Emerald?"

Delta approached Robotnik, holding a large yellow-colored gemstone.

"This makes the job easier!" Robotnik took the Emerald with a cackle, "Not only do I get the frog with Chaos' tail, but you brought me four of the seven Chaos Emeralds, four in one day plus that green-colored sack of a frog.

"This means more food for Chaos, another step towards destroying Station Square and building Robotnikland upon what remains of that moronic metropolis! Omega, you and Delta have done your parts well. The rest of you, begone!"

Beams of light rained down, surrounding three of the robots, Gamma watched as his brothers vanished, teleported away to places unknown. Once Gamma and the other two members of his line were gone, Omega faced Robotnik as the doctor surveyed him and Delta.

"Delta! Continue guarding the base against intruders!" Robotnik ordered, he then looked to Omega, "And you, Omega! The ship's scanner detects that Sonic and Tails are coming their way for us, report to the Sky Deck and prepare for battle, shoot those annoying pests out of the sky and give them all that you got!"

Omega saluted, "AYE-AYE, DOCTOR ROBOTNIK! REMATCH SHALL BE INSTIGATED! ALL FURRIES SHALL FACE OBLITERATION, ALL ORGANICS SHALL BURN!"

And with those words, the E-series robot stomped out of the chamber once again, his ammunition stocked and ready for the impending battle with his systems more committed to the cause of his creator than it already was.

Total extermination engaged!
