Chapter Thirteen

In the bright blue sky, in which the peace was already disrupted by the thrum of engines from Robotnik's ship, a bi-plane soared towards the super fortress of evil, piloted by a recognizable twin-tailed fox with a blue hedgehog standing atop the wings.

"There's the Egg Carrier ahead, look at the size of that."

Sonic punched his fist into an open palm, "Watch out, Eggman! We're comin' at you full speed!"

Brimming with confident determination, Tails pushed hard on the throttle and the plane sped towards the Egg Carrier, ready for battle.

On the deck, E-123 Omega watched as the plane came closer. He recalled the first battle he had with the hedgehog and the fox, the rematch would be worth it, he had all the ammunition and all they had was a biplane.

Who flew a defenseless biplane into battle with the most powerful ship on the planet, all you were asking for was to be brought down in a blaze of glory.

"HEDGEHOG AND FOX IN RANGE, ALL AMMUNITION RESERVES FULLY EQUIPPED!" Omega buzzed, "LOCKED, LOADED, ENGAGE! MOVING TO ENGAGE ENEMY TARGETS IN BATTLE, ALL BATTERIES SHALL UNLEASH THEIR DESTRUCTIVE PAYLOAD AND I WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE!"

"May the fools witness the firepower of this fully operational airship!" Robotnik's voice buzzed over the P.A. systems and on Omega's communication channel.

The cannons rotated into position, hatches opened and Valkyrie Badniks emerged. In an instant, the ship's guns opened fire upon the Tornado and fiery explosions flashed across the bright blue sky.

Omega fired up his boosters and took off from the deck, his arms morphing from clawed-hands into heavy cannons in the span of seconds, eyes blazing.

"OBLITERATION TO THE ENEMIES OF ROBOTNIK!" He declared.

Tails pulled the Tornado into a dive, avoiding a volley of cannon-fire, and then he pulled up and slammed on the gas, making the engine spin faster as he sped towards the Egg Carrier. The fox pressed a button and the plane's installed weapons systems activated.

A confident Sonic turned to his two-tailed friend, his green-eyed gaze meeting Tails' blue-colored eyes, and the speedy hedgehog nodded encouragingly.

"Let 'em have it." He said.

Nothing else needed to be said. 'Let em have it' was enough for Tails, the twin-tailed youthful genius squeezed the triggers and the plane's guns blazed to life.

Winged Badniks streaked towards the Tornado and exploded in pieces of metal as the plane blasted them away and the Flickies trapped inside flew away, freed from the confines of operating the Badniks they'd been stuffed in for so long.

Gunfire tore through every turret mounted around the ship, missiles launched from their silos and rocketed towards the Tornado, spinning in a threatening arc the closer they got, before they were blasted away into pieces.

Sonic and Tails soared over the deck, unaware that Omega was watching them. The battle robot lifted off, sights set on the plane and ready to shoot it down.

"ENGAGING TARGET!" Omega declared.

Omega flew after the Tornado, his engines ablaze, he swatted away a Flicky that was freed from a destroyed Badnik and blasted another Badnik in his flight path.

The red-black robot rocketed closer towards the two heroes, the distance closing rapidly as he inched closer to his targets and his targeting computer pinged as it scanned and got a lock on the heroes and their transport.

BLAM-BLAM-BLAM! Omega released his payload, firing lasers and bullets around the Tornado. Sonic turned around and his eyes widened, recognizing the big robot coming for them.

"It's that big hunk of junk again!" Sonic yelled, "So you've decided to join the party, eh? Let's get 'em, Tails!"

"Man, I didn't think we would be seeing him again so soon." Tails quipped, "And he's trying to shoot us down. Hang on, Sonic!"

The fox pulled up on the throttle and the plane pulled up with the pilot steering as hard as he can, maneuvering over Omega's head, and positioned itself right behind the robot even as he turned around to face them.

"YOU ARE IN MY SIGHTS!" Omega buzzed.

"And you're in ours as well!" Sonic quipped.

Tails pressed another button and the Tornado fired a missile, striking Omega in the arm. The robot tumbled through the air, his rocket engines flickering offline until the battle robot regained full control and recovered, assessing his current situation.

"DAMAGE ASSESSMENT, 25%! INITIATION OF REPAIR MODE WHILE IN BATTLE 85.5% POSSIBLE!" The robot quipped, "TARGETS WILL BE SHOT DOWN, MUST ELIMINATE ALL OF EGGMAN'S ENEMIES!"

Omega rotated his shoulder and flew after the Tornado, which had now streaked its way past the front hull of the ship.

He made a lightning fast move towards the plane and zipped past it's wing just as Tails and Sonic were shooting down more Valkyrie Badniks, maneuvering himself in front of the plane in full view of the group with his weapons locked and loaded.

"You back for more trashing?!" Sonic quipped, "We can do this all day, smashing more bots until Eggman doesn't have enough toys for us to wreck, and I can't wait to find you in a junkpile in a landfill of robot parts real soon, you pile of bolts!"

"SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!" Omega buzzed, "YOU AND YOUR COMPANION WILL BE OBLITERATED FOR INTERFERING IN THE PLANS OF DOCTOR ROBOTNIK! STATION SQUARE WILL BE EXTERMINATED AND THE ROBOTNIK EMPIRE WILL REIGN UPON ITS RUINS AS IT WILL RULE EVERY INCH OF THE GLOBE! PREPARE TO BURN!"

Omega fired his entire payload on the Tornado, aiming for Sonic, who jumped out of the way while Tails did several barrel rolls. Omega's targeting computer locked onto both the hedgehog and the plane's wing, preparing to fire on them all.

"FIRE!"

Omega launched a missile that streaked right towards Sonic, who jumped aside at the last second possible, and scratched the plane's wing as the next missile headed for the plane's other wing. Sonic leaped out of the way and Tails tipped to the side, preparing to do another barrel roll when the missile struck, blasting off a chunk of the wing.

"DAMAGE ACHIEVED!" Omega buzzed, "YOUR PLANE WILL CRASH IN A BLAZE OF GLORY!"

"Oh yeah!"

Sonic curled up into a spin-dash and launched himself at the robot, aiming for his head. Omega's red eyes flashed and he swung his arm, smacking Sonic away. The hedgehog yelled as he fell past the plane's engines, falling out of the airspace towards the Earth below.

"NO! SONIC!" Tails cried.

"YOUR ASSOCIATE HAS BEEN WIPED OUT AND ONLY YOU REMAIN!" Omega intoned, "YOU HAVE THIRTY SECONDS BEFORE YOUR PLANE ENGINES ARE ELIMINATED!"

Just then, Robotnik's voice came over Omega's intercom; "Omega, pull out, I will finish this!"

"AYE-AYE, DOCTOR ROBOTNIK!"

Omega returned to the Egg Carrier, watching as Tails' plane smoked and vibrated with the damaged wing, the robot could only watch as the fox tried to maintain stability on the Tornado. A P.A system roared to life and the front hull of the ship opened up, revealing the Egg Carrier's laser.

"ALL SYSTEMS, FULL POWER!" Robotnik hollered, "YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE ULTIMATE POWER OF THE EGG CARRIER'S WEAPONS SYSTEMS! SYSTEMS ENGAGED, ENERGY AT MAXIMUM AND ALL BATTERIES RESERVED! THE TARGET IS IN SIGHT, YOU FOOLS HAVE NO CHANCE AGAINST WHAT COMES NEXT! READY, FIRE!"

The laser fired, the beam tearing through the remaining wing of the Tornado like butter and Omega watched as the defeated enemy spiraled through the sky to an uncertain doom.

With one threat taken care of, the doctor could gather the remaining Chaos Emeralds for Chaos and destroy Station Square. Omega would be rewarded for his loyalty to the doctor, he had played his part well, but the doctor's plan was far from complete.

"Omega! Report to me at once!" The doctor ordered.

"I AM AT YOUR COMMAND, DOCTOR ROBOTNIK!" Omega saluted.

Surveying the falling Tornado one last time, Omega flew to the deck of the Egg Carrier and powered down his engines before heading below, ready for his next assignment from the doctor...
