Chapter Fourteen
Omega met up with Doctor Robotnik in the main hall of the ship, firmly facing his creator, while his weapons systems took their time to reload and cool down from the fighting.
"You have done well..." Robotnik said, "We don't have to worry about that meddlesome hedgehog for the moment with him and his fox buddy incapacitated. Soon, we will have all of the Chaos Emeralds required for Chaos to achieve his perfect form. Oh, how I will have you to thank when the time comes to build my utopia upon what is left of Station Square."
"COMPLIMENTS ACCEPTED!" Omega buzzed, "YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND!"
Robotnik chuckled, "Very good. Now, my E-series robot. Until I have further assignments for you, I suggest you power down for a while. We can't waste that energy supply of yours, neither can we exhaust your ammunition."
"AYE-AYE, DOCTOR!"
Omega marched away from Robotnik, and strolled through one of the nearby doors that led into a Badnik storage room. The hulking battle robot backed into a chamber, and stood still. Omega began the process of temporarily deactivating, setting his systems to hibernation and power-reserve mode until he was ready for further orders from Doctor Robotnik.
'Hibernation Mode activated.'
'Systems reactivating, voice command received.'
Omega opened his eyes, seeing Doctor Robotnik in front of him, just like in the first hour of his activation. He knew the doctor had an assignment for him, and he would accept it loyally, as it was his programming to do so.
He followed Robotnik out of the room, and entered the main briefing area of the Egg Carrier once more. Omega stood at attention, and Doctor Robotnik faced him firmly. He stroked his large bushy mustache, and the battle machine listened with its sensors on at full power. Omega was ready for orders!
"Here is your next assignment, Omega!" Robotnik barked, gesturing to a door, "E-100 Alpha has just returned from his mission: Capturing a Bird. And he brought a girl with it, the girl was trying to protect the bird. The bird has a Chaos Emerald, and that is very important. You will go to the holding cells, and bring the bird to me. Understood!"
"AYE-AYE, DOCTOR ROBOTNIK!" Omega replied.
The combat-efficient robot marched towards the door in question, ready to bring Doctor Robotnik his latest Chaos Emerald catch. However, Omega stepped on a moving turntable and accidentally walked into a different room. There, he saw a surprising sight that he never thought he'd see.
Gamma was held up by a crane, and his arm was on the floor. Beta was also held by a crane, his leg on the floor. Machinery moved, and sparks flew as new parts were put in place. Omega observed for a time, briefly watching as his brothers were upgraded...
Omega exited the room, and stepped around the turntable, stopping by the correct door. However, he stopped, his mechanical mind processing what he had just seen.
Perhaps it would be easier to not think about it.
Upgrades were necessary, it allowed you to enhance your strength and prowess. When Omega first battled Gamma, Gamma had lost, thanks to Omega's advanced weaponry. And now, Gamma, along with Beta, were in the midst of being upgraded. However, Beta had never fought Omega, even though he still set out on the mission to find Froggy.
"EVENTUAL UPGRADE ACCEPTED!" Omega buzzed.
In his mind, he was already prepared for the day he would be disassembled, and then put back together with an enhanced body, and enhanced weaponry. Right now, he had a mission for Robotnik, and Robotnik was not to be defied.
Omega tapped a button, and marched through the correct door, marching past the doctor's WHACK-A-HEDGEHOG game he had no interest in until he was ready, after he had completed the assignment at hand...
